  1. A terrible moving company. Do NOT use this company.

This is the worst company ever. This company is a scram. They will tell you one price and then tell you another price when they come to your house. I called the company 2 weeks ago to reserve a truck for 8 in the morning. I talked to Ed, he said no problem, he had a truck and everything was good. I told him, I wanted him to email me all the information and paperwork, he said he couldn't (red flag) he would do it when he got there that day. I was closing on my house and on the same day I bought another house. I did not know what time everything was going to be done, so I told him this and I may need to have to store my furniture over night on the truck in storage. Every time I talked to him, he would ask me over and over if I would have to store my furniture over night, I kept telling him I did not know, it would be a last minute thing, it was out of my control. He said he was going to come and do the move with another guy, which he normally does not do the moving himself. When he got to my house at 9:15am., he told me he had to rent a Uhaul just for me because he did not have a truck for me (I called him 2 weeks ago and he said he had a truck with no problem). He said, he was doing me a favor (he was doing me a favor)? On the contract he had 299.00 for 3 hours, I asked him how much an hour, he said, 69.99 an hour. On the paperwork he wrote in $79.99, I made him change that, I could tell he was mad about that. Then I said, $70.00 x 3 equals $210.00, not $299.00., he got mad, he said I'm not charging for gas, I said, Ok, that's fine. So, now they finish and everything is in the truck and now he gave me the bill to pay (which I thought you pay at the end of the move, not in the middle of the move), on the bill, it he was charging me $70.00 for his shrink wrap, I told him I was not paying for a whole roll, he did not use even a half roll. I told him I would pay for a half roll. He wanted me to pay him for the next day in advance, which I said I would pay him for today and the rest tomorrow, he was mad about that too. His total for the bill was $871.00, when I took the stuff that should not be on the bill, I added the up to be $334.00, of course he got mad over that. I paid him cash, which I am glad I did not pay him with a credit card, he would have had my card number, and he said he would charge me 4% more to use a credit card. So now they leave, he then called me up about 5 minutes later and told me he would not deliver my furniture the next day and to get another moving company. I could not believe this, now I am stuck with no movers the very last minute. He told me that I would have to pick up the truck at Ace hardware, so I went to Ace to find out if my furniture is on the truck and safe. I talked to the manager (who was very nice and helpful), I found out that when he dropped off the keys to Ace, he was calling me names (like a b**), and all the employees heard him. I texted him and told him that I was going to sue the company and call my attorney, then he texted me back and said he talked to his boss and they would send someone else out to finish the move, so I said, fine. I asked him to talk to the owner, he said, I could not, he doesn't talk to anyone, (what kind of company is that)? When you call the company, it's only his cell number, either he answers or it goes to a voicemail. He called me and told me that I would have to pay for a storage fee of $125.00, I told him that the truck was sitting in the parking lot and there is no storage fee for that, he got mad about that and said for me to get another moving company, he would not move me once again. So, I had to call another company, I called a couple of movers, because it's a busy time, I could not find one at first, but thank goodness, I did find one. Hopefully it will work out, I will know more tomorrow. What ever you do, if you are smart, do NOT use this COMPANY. I wonder if this guy ED is working out of his house and owns this place and does it himself. There are a lot of good moving company out there, DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!! It is the worst and all they do is try to rip you off. Do your homework and check out reviews and ask other people for references. I did not do this and I wish I had. I may call channel 3, on your side.

  2. A. Alliance Moving denial of claim.

Complaint re A. Alliance Moving and Storage:

On Sept. 29, 2015, three staff from A. Alliance moved our household goods from their storage facility to our home. All goods seemed to be removed from the truck and taken into our house, including two wing chairs. The chairs were unwrapped by the movers, but the cushions were kept wrapped and placed on the floor.

After the movers left, we unwrapped what should have been two cushions, but only one was in the package. We searched the next day through our other boxes and goods and could not find the missing cushion. We alerted A. Alliance via telephone and email, including photos of the chair without its cushion. In addition, we pointed out that the same chair had a broken leg and was split from its frame. We had not noticed that when the movers were here, because the chair sat upright.

After several days, we were sent a claims form and filled it out with the full information about the chair and cushion. We asked for compensation to replace the chair, since we had paid insurance fees during all the time our goods were in storage.

    A. Alliance denied the claim because their insurance only covered items handled by their employees. Our goods had originally been packed by Bekins. Bekins them moved them in closed shipping containers to the A. Alliance storage facility. All of the movement was done without any input from us. We were informed after the moves were fait accompli. Throughout this time and movement, we paid insurance. A well recognized point of business law is that companies acquiring the goods of another company also accepts the liabilities. A. Alliance refused to pay for anything that might have happened at time of packing. Neither they nor we have any way of knowing when the cushion disappeared. After delivery, there was a lot of debris on the van from unwrapping etc. The cushion may have been in there, and we did not see it.

The company says that they will not pay, since we had the vaults in storage a long time and that they changed storage companies. If so, we should have been informed when A. Alliance accepted the vaults that the insurance would only cover their delivery process. Continuing to accept our insurance premium payments is misrepresentation.

We ask for compensation to cover the cost of a similar quality new chair or reimbursement of all of the insurance costs paid to the company over the years.
