  1. Picking up freight.

I went to Ace to pick up a crate that was sent from Portland. The couple times I spoke with the receptionist were very positive. When I tried to receive the package, a man (the owner, I understand) came out on a fork lift with the crate. I asked him if I could just open it and take the contents now and come back tomorrow for the crate. He muttered no, he didn't want the crate around there. He wanted to put the whole item in the back of my truck. I told him that I didn't want the 650 lb box on top of my wheel wells. He said he wanted to try it anyway. I said, no--I have already measured it and it won't fit. He agreed to put two pallets under the box to raise it up high enough. When this was done, he pulled toward the truck with the pallets too low. He was heading to hit my tail gate and I yelled for him to stop. He didn't stop, he slowed but he kept going forward. I yelled again as he ran into the tail gate. There was another employee there who witnessed this. I don't think any damage was done, but he raised the load up and started coming forward, He was heading right into the side of the truck and into a tie-down cleat. Again, I yelled for him to stop--he didn't, he edged forward. I ran back and yelled to him to STOP. He yelled back, "Why the f** wasn't I on that side of the truck directing him?" I said my partner is there and your employee is on that side, I'm on the other and we were all telling him to stop. The other employee offered to load the crate, the guy said, NO, I'll just put it down and let him do the f** he wants with it." He dumped it there in the parking lot, I signed the paper and before he stomped away, I asked him, "Why would you get angry at me trying to prevent my truck from being damaged??" He ignored me and went inside. This is a complaint and not a request for resolution.
