  1. Admiral or parent co Continental Van lines. DO NOT USE.

I put in a request for quotes through Moving.com as they advertise repeatable companies BUT not even close. It started out well enough. Admiral provided a basic quote through email after some basic questions. I requested an in house quote which they kindly did and was very friendly. I have a wish I knew then what I know now kind of thing. So the mover asked if I wanted two trucks. I asked if he felt it would fit and be fine to which he said yes. I repeatedly asked via email what charges may be "hidden". He assured me that there were none. Fast forward to moving day. Four very unprofessional people show up. As they randomly walk around they will linger and text frequently. They paid no attention to box markings and started loading. Well, it became clear that more than one truck was needed. I was told this was my choice. I said yes based on the quoter's remarks of one truck being adequate. I had to run out and rent a uhaul. It was the biggest they had and they still couldn't fit. The foreman said to me "What stupid sh!t quoted this job?". Now there was a delay in the closing and I knew a couple hours would be added but the driver jacked it up by many additional hours and my stuff was held hostage. I was not given an explanation or a modified quote or anything. Just if you want your stuff to pay this amount or stuff will be taken away. My quote was left unsigned and no payment requirements were set. The laborers were more upset about getting home late that they unloaded in record time and once again paid no attention to box markings. Items were damaged and broke and missing as a result. They also played with my golf clubs. There were some last minute items I had not packed. They threw them in a roughneck garbage can with an expensive aquarium light, I could not find the stuff for days. What I found out after is this company and the parent company have a multitude of complaints against them and many involve fraudulent activities. They did not provide a signed quote. So now that I am more informed I started by asking for a refund of the hours that were not agreed to or even used. I was met with NO. File a claim which is ONLY for damaged items so what am I claiming there? I asked for an itemized final bill detailing the jacked-up charges there were things not agreed on or even told like fuel charges. I have also asked for a modified quote for the added hours presented and signed and of course, there was none but says the foreman left it in the house. That foreman NEVER went into my house. He cursed me out in front of my wife and kids and new neighbors as well. They never let me inspect the truck after the move was completed. They foreman drove up the street waiting for his guys as they begged for a tip. I go in to find that they did not put together furniture as they advertised. So now after much back and forth I am left with no other recourse but to file complaints, leave reviews and go to small claims court. DO your due diligence better then I did. So to reiterate.. Job was not properly quoted (low ball estimate). Not enough trucks to handle the job. Breaking of a binding estimate. Adding charges not outlined in the estimate and having my contents held until a modified payment was paid with no written explanation of new charges. No "bill of landing" was given or signed as far as I have. Quote does not mention the requirement of cash on delivery. I don't have a copy of anything signed quote to see if it was added. AND the in-home quote did NOT have COD checked off as required payment but yet I was told when the truck arrived and my stuff was held, hostage.

  2. Best Moving Experience.

I was having a hard time finding a moving company that would answer my phone calls, let alone give me a reasonably detailed quote. In fact 2 other moving companies I found were downright rude to me.

Then I found Admiral Van Lines via a Google search, and I am so glad I did.

The salesperson Andy on the phone was detail-oriented (I guess they use a software program for their estimations). He was clear, forthcoming, and followed up via email. He promised that the bill was based on the in/out time, and they don't round-up. I was skeptical at first, but there was something about his candidness and transparency that appealed to me. He called me again the day before to confirm the move across town.

On the day of the move, the moving guys (Alex, Pata and Hus) arrived almost 20 minutes early. They were fairly low-key and professional (as much as muscular, sports-loving, strapping young men can be, at any rate). They wrapped/padded and loaded my property up with the necessary material to ensure that nothing would break. They drove off in the big-ass truck and arrived at the destination *LESS THAN 5 MINUTES* AFTER ME!

Let that sink in for a minute, folks. After all, we're talking about a moving company, here.

Without further ado, they checked out the house layout, then proceeded to offload our property with efficiency and care. Even though my wife and I sometimes accidentally misdirected them on item placement, they accepted the changes graciously and with ZERO GRUMBLING (at least within our earshot, hahaha).

At the end, they marked the time accurately, and invoiced me for a cost that was slightly lower than the original estimate. I gave them the maximum recommended tip, and they seemed really grateful. But later on, my wife was like, you should have given a little more, because they were so hardworking and accommodating.

In summary: the Admiral Van Lines salesperson AND their moving guys communicated honestly, fully and professionally.. they moved my belongings swiftly, were hardworking, and kept their promises. This is literally the most non-BS experience I've ever had with a moving company. Hopefully they keep up the good work, keep hiring good movers, and their positive reputation spreads.

When I move again (because unfortunately I am in a rental), I will definitely call Admiral Van Lines and ask for Alex and his crew if they are still available. And next time I'll be sure to tip more than the recommended amount!

  3. Efficient and Affordable.

I had a wonderful experience with this moving company! I was extremely nervous as I am on a very tight budget and could not afford for any hidden fees, but the people I spoke with seemed nice and I figured this was a good option.

The movers arrived right on time, and got straight to work. They took all the precautions to ensure that my belongings would be safe in the move. They quickly arrived at my new home and began to unload all of my things and place them where I asked. I am very particular and maybe was a little picky with where things went, but the moving team was patient and I did not hear any complaining from them.

In the end, the final price was almost exactly the quoted price (a little less!), and I couldn’t be happier with my experience.

Please, look no further than Admiral Van Lines when searching for your moving company.

  4. Excellent company.

If I could give them 10 stars to Admiral Van Lines it wouldn't be enough. I knew from my initial call, just to get a quote, I would be going with them. The guy I made my appointment with (sorry, can't remember his name, that week was a blur) was so helpful and personable. I could tell he really knew his "stuff". He answered all of my questions before I even had a chance to ask. For anyone that has sold and bought a home at the same time, you know how stressful it is. And, you know how much you appreciate someone that makes one part of that process easier.

Flash forward to moving day. Alex and his crew showed up right on time and ready to work! We did a walk through, they asked questions I would have never thought of, and after many jokes and playful jabs, 15 minutes later they told us to go get breakfast or do what we needed to do and they would take it from there. My jaw dropped! We could leave for the three hours it would take them? What?!? This allowed us so much time to get things done I didn't think would be possible. It was a great part of the service I did not expect. Invaluable!

When they were done, one of us went back for a final walk thru and then they headed over. Here is where Just in Time shines. They lay down padding on all of your floors, they cover you corners with padding. They don't just "move" stuff in. They ask you where you want EVERYTHING! They even move furniture once it's down if it doesn't look right. Every 30 minutes or so Alex(?) came to me asking if everything looked good or if he could help in other ways. Simply (too late)! They are the best moving company EVER!

I never leave reviews, and certainly not long ones. But, they truly deserve it. I have used other companies in the past who broke my stuff, scratched my stuff, or just simply lost my stuff. We have now unpacked every box and looked at every piece of furniture. Nothing broke, nothing is scratched, and we had a REALLY fun day of moving thanks to these 3 guys! If you want to have fun on your moving day and not worry about your stuff, HIRE them! It's like having your friends help you move but their actually good at it. We've already given their name out to several friends and will continue to do so.

    Thank you so much guys!
P.S. They are so good with your pets, too!

  5. The best movers.

    BEST PRICE!
INCREDIBLE STAFF! Frank (office rep), Michael (in home quote), Ahmat, Deny and Bob (movers)
    NO HIDDEN/EXTRA FEES!
    OVERNIGHT SERVICE !
    THE BEST MOVING EXPERIENCE EVER!!

Let me start by saying that when we were planning our move (last minute) in New Jersey, I was concerned that I wouldn't find a company that would accommodate our very specific and small moving window. But then I discovered Admiral Van Lines. After speaking with 3 other companies, Admiral Van Lines came back with the lowest quote and the fastest service.. overnight service to be exact! From the moment I spoke to Frank, I felt like it was a family member coordinating our move. Hi was pleasant, professional, and so helpful in securing what we needed for our move. Then Michael came out to do our in home quote.. who I will forever remember as the "friendly giant baby whisperer".. my toddler son was totally enamored with him. The in home assessment was super fast and easy, and he assured that all our belongings would fit on one truck.. for a flat fee (as Frank said as well). No hidden fees!! Thats unheard of with moving.. Then day of move, 3 young gentlemen arrived early morning to load our belongings onto a truck.. They moved so quickly, I hadn't even finished sealing all the boxes.. so they help me finish up. I was concerned that I hadn't kept a good count of my boxes, but that was no worry to me when I was reminded that we wouldn't be sharing a truck with anyone else. No confusion on what belongs to who.

The very next morning, our truck arrived to my new home on time and Ahmat, Deny and Bob were like a man moving machine! They unloaded all our things and put them in the appropriate rooms/locations so carefully and quickly, I could barely keep up with them.. which was a good thing. In less than 4 hours they were on their way and we were completely and professionally moved in. All our belongings were handled with care and careful attention.

This was BY FAR.. the best moving experience of my life. Admiral Van Lines for the win!!

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU.

  6. Best experiences.

These folks from Admiral Van Lines were amazing. They showed up when they said they would and worked quickly and tirelessly to get everything loaded onto the truck. They completed the loading process EARLIER than they had estimated. Who does that? They were equally good with unloading. They didn't just drop the boxes in the foyer and move on -- every box was marked with a location indicator, and the followed that to the tee. They set up furniture, arranged it the way I liked and generally made sure the place was neat and organized before they left. I was particularly impressed when the lead mover took me aside and pointed out an item that had broken in transit. The break was not their fault -- it was an outdoor fire pit that had rusted through. These movers cared about the quality of their work, and it showed.

One thing I would do differently next time is to ask them to send me their waiver and insurance forms before the day of the move. I'm a lawyer, so I like to read these things, and when the movers are on the clock I feel rushed. I should have thought to ask, but frankly things are so hectic in the move that I forgot. It would be good for Admiral Van Lines to email those documents early as a matter of course (although I admit most people likely won't read them). If for no other reason, you should evaluate whether their standard insurance is enough to cover your stuff. If not, you can buy supplemental insurance from them (or others).

I also didn't like the fact that we were charged for packing materials. I could possibly understand being charged for tape -- I guess that is a one-use item -- but not for the padding used to protect the furniture. They can use those over again, so why charge me? In any case having to pay for those items separately made me feel at times that I was being nickle and dimed. It may be typical of the industry, but I hope they change that practice.

Overall, I had a great experience with Admiral Van Lines and would definitely use them again.

BTW - You get a 3% discount if you pay in cash. While I generally like to pay with a credit card in case the merchant fails to live up to her end of the bargain, in this instant I decided to save a few bucks by paying cash. I definitely made sure to check for any damage before I paid anything though. I had no problems.

  7. Very professional.

These guys from Admiral Van Lines are good! I called in Wednesday afternoon, as I was waiting to hear on closing on my home purchase Friday, for a Saturday moving date. They are very honest and friendly -- the first time I called, I explained my situation, and they gave me an idea of their pricing and also time slots available Saturday. Like most movers, they have a cancellation policy which requires a hold and if you back out prior to 48 hours from the reserved date, all is fair, otherwise they charge you a $100 cancellation. Since my move date was sort of in flux as it depended on my closing, they were very honest about their policy and actually suggested that I wait to book them so that I didn't incur their cancellation fee. They assured me that they were confident they'd still have the time slot open -- HONESTY! Bad movers would have tried to pressure me into locking me into the time slot, putting me at risk of unnecessary fees.

I called back the next day and ended up placing a reservation for Saturday 7am. These guys are prompt! They showed up exactly at 7am and after a quick tour, within 5 minutes they were loading up our stuff into their truck. The two man crew, Alex ,Artur and John, were quick! Very impressed by the speed they moved our stuff from our 3 bedroom apartment to 4 bedroom house. They were able to completely move us, from pick up to drop off within 7 hours.

I would highly recommend; quick, honest, professional, and no surprise fees or charges. Everything they quoted me was exactly how it turned out. Nothing broken and they put things exactly where we asked them to. Thanks guys!

  8. Highly recommended.

4th or fifth time I've used Admiral Van Lines, but first time for me instead of the daughter. They have always been very efficient, up beat and have always hit the estimate based on over the phone conversations. In fact this move and one previous were below estimate. Never had any damage to premises or furniture or boxed goods. One move involved moving a 3rd floor 2 bedroom apartment in August. Even that team was upbeat with a great attitude.

This move was to a storage unit (10x15) and I had almost everything in the garage ready to go. They 3 man crew showed up 15 minutes early, I explained that there were a couple items I wanted to have placed at the back of the storage and they understood and got to work. They ran shrink wrap around the dressers and entertainment center to keep doors and drawers secure (this will help when I move out of storage). Loaded up in about 1 hour , protecting everything with moving pads, strapping everything down securely. In addition they moved a heavy sectional into the garage and loaded a heavy stationary bike into my truck bed.

I had expected once they unloaded I would spend some time rearranging the storage to maximize open space for access and additional items later. Didn't happen! These guys were efficient at packing and stacking things in. Stuff on top of the refrigerator, stuff under tables, table tops behind cabinets, they could be professional Tetris players. They joked that I should have got a smaller space. In addition they protected surfaces along the walls and in between furniture and appliances with the large packing papers.

I figured the move would take about 5 hours but even with the time spent arranging the storage I was only charged for the 4 hours minimum. I was also able to schedule during their off peak days so saved a little money. I had originally planned on moving everything myself in my pickup but not wanting to wrestle with the large refrigerator or the huge barbecue I made the decision to spend a little money and it was worth every bit for the convenience and saved myself at least a full day of shuttling back and forth, loading and unloading. I've recommended this company a number of times to friends and co-workers and will continue to do this in the future.

  9. Don’t Hire.

Under NO circumstances hire Admiral Van Lines! I WISH I would have read these reviews before booking them. I have a very similar story to many of the 1-star reviews. They have the scam down cold.

Get there, (4 hours late in my circumstance) try to up-charge from $297 to $1,000. Then they tried to runaway when I didn’t comply. It was August 30th and they knew I would be stuck with Labor Day weekend but thankfully some friends came to the rescue. I was up that day till 11:30am the next morning but it was worth it to not let these guys touch my stuff.

No saving grace for this despicable company. Don’t be fooled here, go look at their Yelp reviews!

  10. Very good service.

It was a really good experience, they sent over two movers who were really nice, fast and efficient. The team actually communicated with each other and got along well, which hasn't been my experience with past movers. They were very professional, and easy to work with.

They made sure to point out any broken or damaged items before the move, so I knew it didn't happen during. Everything got to my new place in the same condition, and they were really careful to wrap up all breakable items in furniture pads.

They originally quoted me $ 110/hr but after charging for moving supplies it ended up being about $135/hr. The charges for supplies were a little high, I doubt they used two entire rolls of saran wrap for the amount of stuff they moved, but their hourly still came out as less than other places I called.

One really great thing is that they disassembled my bed and put it back together better than it was before. They really made sure to tighten all the screws, so my bed actually feels stronger now.
I've used a couple of other moving services in the past few years, and this was the first I felt was good enough to get five star review.

  11. The Best Movers.

After a lot of research, frustration, and very few returned calls/e-mails, my partner and I chose Admiral Van Lines to help us move out of our studio apartment + 5'x10' storage space, and we are so glad we did.

Anthony quoted us easily the lowest rate of any company that got back to me by about $110/hour. (He also got back to me the fastest, both leaving a voicemail and e-mailing me, and was equally responsive via both methods of communication.) He offered us $110 /hour for 3 guys and a truck, included wardrobe boxes and furniture padding, and explicitly outlined that the only extra charge would be for packing materials (like the plastic wrap they use around blanketed furniture, plus tape). He also made absolutely sure that we understood double drive time. When they say no hidden fees, they MEAN no hidden fees--I was not surprised at all by the final contract I was presented at the end of moving day.

He told us that on our preferred day the guys were already booked for the morning, but that an afternoon spot was open and they would arrive between 12pm and 6pm. We were fine with that, since we aren't morning people anyway, and by Friday night we were still scrambling like mad to pack up the last of our odds and ends. Anthony stayed in touch with us on Saturday morning to give us a better idea of when the movers would arrive that afternoon. Due to traffic, they ended up being a little later than the 1:45pm estimate, but 2pm was fine for us, especially since when the guys did arrive, they buckled down and worked FAST.

I was worried about a few pieces of furniture, because I remembered how much trouble we'd had getting it into the apartment, but the bookshelf that took four guys and 45 minutes to wiggle through the doorway took two guys, one hurried conversation about angles, and only about 10 minutes to get out--and that includes the time they spent meticulously wrapping the whole thing. Yeah, they wrap everything. I didn't for a second worry that any of the furniture would get scratched up.

It took them an hour and a half to get the stuff from our studio into the truck (we had a lot of stuff in that tiny space), thirty minutes to drive to our storage unit, less than an hour to empty the storage unit, fifteen minutes to drive to the new apartment, and a little over an hour to unload. That included disassembling and reassembling our bed, and when one of the wooden support slats broken during the reassembly process, they took $10 off the final bill on the spot for the damage (and it ended up only costing us $2 to get a comparable piece of wood from Home Depot). Oh, and there's a 3% discount for paying in cash, which Anthony also made sure to mention well ahead of time so that we'd be prepared to get that money off. Seriously, how great is that? It's like they really WANT to save you money.

I've always moved myself with the help of family and friends, but seriously, never again. These guys spared my muscles and made moving day a thousand times easier than it's ever been before. There wasn't any damage besides that one broken slat and they put everything where we wanted it to go without any fuss. They were professional and hard-working and even cheerful. Totally awesome.

  12. Great experience.

I use moving company couple times, but never left a review. But this experience truly warrants a review.

I just moved into a brand new home, so I'm really picky about nicks and scratches happening during the move in process. After a little researching, I found Admiral Van Lines online and 5.0 star reviews can't be wrong. After today, I will make one more 5.0 star reviews! I needed an oversized (6'4" tall, and every bit of 400 pounds) solid maple armoire moved into an upstairs bedroom. My friends and I muscled it to the upstairs landing, but we could not negotiate the 90° turn to get the piece up the last 5 steps. Impossible. Cannot happen. Not without straps and ropes and pulleys, anyway.

That's when I conceded defeat and called in the big guns at Admiral Van Lines. My appointment was scheduled at 8:00AM. Andy called me a few minutes prior to my appoint to confirm an on-time arrival. At exactly 8:00AM, Ahmat and Victor show up at my door, ready to do work! As an additional peace of mind, they told me that I don't pay until the armoire is moved. That made me feel good because I wasn't so sure the piece could even be moved upstairs, as I was beginning to think it was just too big.

They sized up the armoire and the staircase, then they both grabbed a hold of the armoire. That's when the impossible became possible. 1..2..3!! Next thing I know, the armoire is upstairs and in the bedroom, right where I wanted it. These guys are part muscle men, part magician! I was blown away. Clearly, Ahmat and Victor have seen many situations like mine and knew exactly what tricks to do in order to get the piece moved.

Oh, and if you are worried about nicks, scrapes or dings from moving your stuff, you can rest assured knowing that movers from Admiral Van Lines caused absolutely ZERO damage to any of my walls, railings..nothing. I know, because I was watching the whole time. Also, the quote they gave me was exactly what I paid. No hidden fees. No screwing around. These guys earned this 5 star review!

  13. Unbelievable experience.

Our experience with Admiral Van Lines was fantastic. We sent an email to their site and salesrep Andy responded within a day. Michael Napoletano coordinated a visit around our schedule and conducted a walk-through resulting in a price quote that very day (including various service options such as having them pack or providing packing materials).

At day of the move four proffecional movers arrived to pack. The results--most likely due to the years of experience--were great: attention to detail without one (that's right--not ONE) broken or missing item, small or grand. Brian and Annette took on the most delicate of tasks to help ensure such great results.

They re-used the professional moving boxes and wrapping material that we saved from our interstate move two years ago, which allowed us to save a bit of money on packing materials. The wrapping they used for our paintings was something we had not seen before: a kraft paper over a polymer with a special protective layer that touched the canvas--great stuff that we gave to an artist friend to store his own paintings.

When they unloaded the boxes at our new house, they took care to a make sure they put everything where we wanted it--a particular room, the deck, the garage, the back yard, etc.

They even hauled away the washer and dryer left by the previous owners and gave them to someone who could use them. They hooked up our own washer and dryer for us (with the understanding from us that they are not plumbers and could not be responsible for leaks..they worked fine and their correct hookup was verified by a HVAC & plumbing professional who visited the house soon after for an unrelated matter).

Once we were unpacked weeks later, we coordinated a time when Andy was heading back to our neighborhood to quote on a new job and she collected all of our flattened moving boxes—Admiral Van Lines had a client coming up on a fixed income, and these used professional moving boxes were given freely to that client.

Andy understand the value of good service--it is their livelihood and they treat it as such, from the way they first respond to a customer to the way they hang on to good employees.

We highly recommend this local company; we hope to never have to move again, but we could call Admiral Van Lines if needed.

I was quoted 149/hour 3 hour minimum. with free storage for one week. then a 10% discount on the move in.

    $447 for move out
    $407 move in.

I have texts agreeing that that is everything.

The guy shows up to move me out. It’s now >$50 added for toils. and now its four hours minimum and some other fees. they want $700 for what ends up being 30 minutes of moving. I am not moving furniture. Its 10 boxes. After going back and forth we get it back down to $550

I have no choice as it’s the last day of my lease and I am a woman moving out with no help. /

I arrange to have my things delivered Friday at noon. At noon I get a call for 3. I am not home at three, and my building does not allow weekend move ins. We agree to Monday at 8.

Mo day at 9:30 I get a call. Instead of my things a guy waltzes into my apartment and demands $550. He tells me cash now or I can’t have my things.

Imagine you’re a single woman waiting for your movers and someone comes in and says hand me the money or no things. No where in sight are my things.
I ask about my discount and ask why the price keeps going up. He say fine with discount $500.

During this time, I am told he doesn’t care and I can complain all I want because “ I own this city”

Every time I call dispatch I get hung up on and told give him the money.
I am sitting in my apartment now waiting to see my things.

  15. Nice move.

I'm happy to add my five-star experience to the other reviews for Admiral Van Lines

I hate moving. When a move is unavoidable, I find myself making strong vows that THIS time, darn it, I will be organized. I will be efficient. I will reserve a truck and/or moving team weeks in advance. I will wrap, plan, discard, donate and come out the other side a veritable Martha Stewart of a man, my carefully winnowed possessions sparkling and orderly in my new, spotless home.

The reality is me, five days before my move-out deadline, knee deep in detritus, no trucks reserved, little packed, no plan to finish this job, and unsuccessful in guilt-tripping any friends into giving up a gorgeous autumn morning to help my cranky and sullen self lug a granite-trimmed sleeper sofa up a wobbling metal ramp and into a cavernous, exhaust-belching, over-priced moving van (manual transmission only, broken gas gauge and a radio stuck on the all-static channel.)

I had reached the knee-deep and no help stage of the process when I finally panicked enough to research moving companies (six days before the end of my lease). Fortunately, I sent a bid request to Admiral Van Lines. After a quick response that yes, they could fit me in, I glanced over the glowing reviews and booked them at once. . . before returning to the helpless sorting of papers and socks.

The team arrived well within the time window. They were punctual, strong, hard-working, friendly, cheerful, careful, meticulous and in general, everything I would like to be when I move house.

They quickly figured out the dimensionally-challenging puzzles involved in carrying large furniture through the malevolently-narrow doorways and tight passages of my antique building, then drove 15 miles through heavy traffic, only to unload it all in my new home, which offered the pleasure of two stairways, each with a sharp middle turn.

I would have died or gone insane. They just did the job quickly and without damage or complaint.

I happily paid their reasonable charges. Thanks, gentlemen, for giving me a vision of a better world, in which moving can be.. okay, it's never going to be fun, but it can, apparently, be competent and quick.

I recommend Admiral Van Lines whole-heartedly and will absolutely call on them again for my next move.
