  1. Moving 83 year old mother.

    These people are terrible.
Not only were they 2 days late, (one excuse after another) they tried to extort us!
The movers told us that they didn't honor the contract that we had signed or the deposit that we had paid. That if we wanted our things moved we had to pay them the full amount up front. After contacting the "customer service" (which is a joke) several times (we had to keep using different cell phones because they wouldn't answer if they saw our number) we finally just told them to leave. They informed us that that was fine they had our deposit.
This is the worst experience I have ever had. Only trying to move my handicapped mother's 2 rooms of furniture. One of the "owners" text me (only after I told customer service person I was filing complaint with Georgia department of Public Safety.) and asked me to call him about the problems. When I did he informed me that "he was in the middle of something and to call the office".
I will tell everyone not todo business with these people. They are in several states so do your homework. You will be sorry if you use these people.

  2. Horrible Experience.

If I could give this company a zero rating I would. What started out as a great first interaction and a good quote turned into me being hounded and insulted by there service rep. When planning my move I contacted Affordable Movers for a quote. Ultimately I decided to go with another moving company and when I relayed this info to the sales rep I had talked to, he then tried to strong arm me into choosing him, with scare tactics about the company I went with. He offered a lower quote and I let him know I would think it over and call him back if I decided to go with his company.

The sales rep called back again a few days later and I informed him again that I was sticking with my decision to go with another company. This time when he asked who I chose I politely tried to deny telling him so that I didn't get the same scare tactic lecture as before. When I refused to tell him and refused his offer to tell him the next day if he called back, the sales rep became angry and rude. He then began insulting me and mocking me when I asked him to accept the fact that I went with another company and to move onto his next customer.

I'm not sure if this is an isolated event with this sales rep or this is how they run their business, but I'm very upset and disappointed with the way I was treated. I will be filing a complaint with the company and reporting this rep. Please be careful when talking to this company in the future as it seems like they are not as good as they first seem.

  3. Not a good experience.

We moved my parents from NC to TX in July 2016. They received a quote for the move over the phone from Affordable movers. When they came to pack they said it would be more because there was more then they expected. We moved them before their new home was ready in TX and their good were put in storage.
A person was assigned that was to handle the whole thing for them and guide them through the process. That person went on sick leave and they were at the mercy of customer service.
The process to schedule the goods to be shipped to the new home in Texas was not clearly explained to them and was not clearly spelled out in either the moving or storage contract. They called and were given a date for shipping. When they called two days prior to that date they were told they did not have a shipping date yet and explained that was the "first available shipping date" and they would be provided a firm ship date within 21 business days from the FASD.
The move rom Storage to TX was subcontracted to Mayflower. They were contacted two days before arrival of the truck. several items and entry flooring were damaged by the movers which were all noted on the check off list. There was no response from Mayflower or Affordable Movers regarding the noted damages so they had to file a claim through Moving Claims.net which is still pending.
All in all a very upsetting experience for anyone much less Octogenarians to have to deal with.

  4. Marvelous Movers.

I had a great experience with Affordable Mover last week. To start, they sent 3 men instead of the 2. I requested to ensure that my move was done quickly because I was to report to work the following day. Secondly, they were very careful, considerate and friendly (without being grimy or uncomfortable). Lastly, the price was fair and for the first time, I did not feel like I was being overcharged. It actually made me want to give them a hug for the whole team. Overall, I have worked with many movers, and Affordable Moving is efficient, quick and fair. I'm extremely pleased with the service they provide!

  5. Good Communication.

Affordable Movers personnel worked with me to get prices down to a very competitive level and responded to my inquiries within reasonable time frames. Although I ended up ultimately deciding to haul all of my household goods across the country on my own because it was more cost-effective for me, the staff remained friendly throughout the process. They've informed me that my deposit refund has been submitted. So, as long as that comes through, I'll have no qualms with giving them 5 stars.

  6. Great Experience.

I had a wonderful experience with Affordable movers. Since this was my first time moving from West to East coast, and when I Googled, I found lot of movers and was confused. However, Affordable movers explained on how to look into each aspect of movers' company, their track record etc. Once booking was made, the movement itself was very smooth. The folks who came for pick-up as well as for drop were very professional and cordial. They returned all my calls and punctually provided all the services. Overall, satisfied with the services provided. Definitely worth it and would for sure recommend to anyone.

  7. Kudos to Affordable Moving Company.

My sincere appreciation is hereby conveyed for the Affordable Moving Company, and mostly the two individuals with which I had the opportunity deal with, Joe Harper in Customer Service, and Jake, in the dispatching department. My dealings with each of these individuals, aided me immensely in the process of determining what and how I should best utilize my hard-earned dollars moving, while leaving me with a sense of the company's professionalism and ultimate capability to get the job done right. They are a smaller moving company, but what they lack in size, they make up for in personal service, attention to detail, and responsiveness to my needs.

Thanks, Affordable Moving Company, and to your dispatch and customer service departments, for whom without the service of, the moving experience would have been a much more daunting process. You're going to love these guys.

    Sincerely,

    Jennifer L. Wray.

  8. A nightmare, disaster, cheating scheme.

The agent Joe, from “Affordable movers” with a 1800-208-5573 number, told me that it is a BBB A+ rating and very reputable company. He also made a promise that they will deliver my properties on time before my traveling. He called me all the time before I decided to use this company. Joe made feel I can trust them until I paid my first $700 deposit.

The nightmare began when the actual movers showed up to pick up my shipment and I could not reach Joe anymore. I added a dining table and couple of other tiny items with reducing 10 median size boxes, which was supposed to be a little bit cheaper than the original price. The header/driver of the movers charged me additional $472.80 for the stairs and fuels, which were claimed in the original contract, for the additional few items that occupied less space than original contracted, and for an additional packing that actually never happened. – I paid the extra amount as they demanded and gave generous tips to movers with a naïve hope that they could treat my properties nicely. ---- I also found the movers have a DIFFERENT official name “Moving and storage” located in Hollywood, FL, which does not have any BBB rating!!

The delivery was even more frustrated, dramatic, and cheating. Promising me to deliver on time before my business traveling made me chose this company. August 3, 2016, 10 days after pickup, I found my shipment is still in FL and they insisted to deliver my shipment during the time I was traveling, O.W., maybe another month later!! After I complained to the manager, a driver/mover called me on Friday, August 5, 2016, and told me he was on his way. Next day, it was a big drama day. He called me that his truck was broken and could not make it before my traveling and again insisted to deliver my shipment during my traveling time. Otherwise, he would come back in a month later!! –I had to agree to deliver my properties when I was traveling and asked my leasing office open the door for them.

More dramas happened, he asked for additional $150 for the stairs, which was literally charged for three times for one shipment: original contract, pickup gay, and this deliver guy!!—He hold my properties as hostage before I directly deposit all the extra money he demanded when I was a NY and he was in MS. When I backed home, I found majority of my furniture were broken in surprising ways, not sure whether the guy did intentionally because I was not there or just accidentally. The guy unscrewed my Italy made night stand—it just fell apart. My bookshelf was new before the moving and could not stand anymore after moving!!--- Nice cheating scheme—Joe “Affordable movers” or “Moving and Storage” Hollywood, FL??--- Don’t give your contract or any penny to this company.—I paid tips to the movers although I clearly knew the company cheated me and with a naive hope that they would treat my belongings nicely—they broken whatever they could break!!

  9. Unreliable moving company.

Had to use this company due to closing of our house being changed but, this is the worse moving company ever. They gave us a contract but then changed the price once our furniture was loaded. Once we paid our deposit we could not get anyone to call us back. They showed up a day late and delivered our furniture 2 days late even though we had made sure on the delivery date since we would be sleeping on the floor until we received our furniture. Made threats to us when we questioned the cost and delivery dates. Do not use this company--they are a rip off. Ran the other the way!!

  10. Do not use for long distance, very disappointed!

    1.
Reservation: very responsive, easy to make
reservation. Chose a two day pick up window and a requested delivery date. Was
told quote would change based on actual space used. Planned our move around
those dates. This was a move from FL to the Midwest.

    2.
Pick up: Once our move was transferred to the “dispatch”
department, they became very hard to get a hold of. I left countless
voicemails, emails etc. Had to just keep calling and calling to get someone on
the line.  Our items were finally picked
up two days after our pickup window passed. The movers came in an Enterprise
truck. The actual movers were very professional, hard working. They did a great
job wrapping and packing furniture. They are clearly over worked and over
scheduled, however. They do charge for everything. Get your own mattress covers,
mirror boxes, tv boxes etc. We needed one mattress cover $20, and one mirror
box $40. Everything else we bought ourselves beforehand for much, much cheaper.
They use a ton of tape and charge you for all of it. The only thing they don’t
charge for is the moving blankets they use to wrap stuff in. They did scratch
the brand new floors in our house and ding a couple of walls. Our move ended up
costing about 2500 more than originally quoted. They charge per item, not for
actual space used. So, it didn’t matter that we had way less boxes than the
original estimate, they charged us for that quote plus they added on the things
we forgot on the original estimate. It did not just balance out based on actual
    space used.

    3.
Delivery: It took several calls and emails to
get our delivery straightened out. They take your stuff to a warehouse where it
sits and sits and sits and sits. The delivery date we requested is actually
known as a “first available date” so we were expecting to get our stuff within
a couple of days of the date we chose… nope! Our stuff wasn’t even in the que
to be delivered until that date passed. We finally got our items 3.5 weeks
after our initial delivery date. (and about 5 weeks after the initial pick up)
The company that delivered our stuff was a brokered company, not part of
Affordable Mover. They did a great job unloading and helping us assemble
furniture etc. We did have several items damaged, including a nice bookshelf
that was completely smashed to pieces and a love seat broken. Lots of other
items scratched and dinged etc. I couldn’t believe how many of our boxes were smashed
and re-taped together. Loose items floating around in the truck. Also, one item
was lost completely. The driver who delivered our stuff told us that the
workers at the warehouse are very hard on things the way they pack and throw
stuff around. The loads that his company was personally responsible for, he
loaded himself instead of allowing the warehouse workers to do it.

    4.
Overall, I cannot recommend this company. They
were very misleading on the initial reservation, very hard to keep in contact
with while the move is ongoing. The move was way behind schedule, items were
    damaged.

  11. Hard Working Company did right through several problems.

**NOTE** In preparing this review, it shows "International Review", but it is NOT International..the move was from Georgia to North Carolina. So if it shows "International" when anyone is reading this, I don't know why!!**

I paid to move my son and his family from Georgia to North Carolina. From the beginning, speaking with Chris in sales, I found him to be up front and always there to answer my gazillion questions. The quote he gave me was for a complete move, with all expenses to be covered in this one quote, including all the boxes, packing tape, etc, etc. The day of the move came and went, and we learned that it would be delayed by one day. This was sort of upsetting to my son, but I found the reason given to be reasonable. The movers did come the next day, and got everything loaded up for my son & his family in about 4 hours. However, the driver told my son that there would be an additional charge of almost $800.00 extra for all the supplies used! I spoke with the driver, and explained that I had paid EXTRA for a complete move, and to hold on, that I would call the Company! After several attempts to reach Chris, he finally called me back, and said "Hold On", and ran downstairs to talk with Giovani, the Company CEO. Within 2 minutes, Giovani called me back and apologized for the misunderstanding, and confirmed that the price I was originally quoted was correct, and that he would inform the driver. So all was well with that, and the furniture arrived the next day in NC. HOWEVER, in the process of moving out of the Georgia house, one of the movers knocked a hole in the outside stairs leading up into the house. My son and his landlord had JUST DONE a walk-through the day before, and had signed off on what his security deposit return would be. However, a week later, the amount my son received from the landlord was $100.00 LESS, with a note saying that the amount had been reduced to pay for repairs to the hole in the stairs, and sent my son a photo of the damage. So I contacted Giovani, and he asked for details and to send the picture of the damage to him. I did so in an email, and then heard nothing from him for over a week, even after leaving him a couple of voice mails. However, about 10 days later, Giovani called me to talk about the damage, and he agreed to send a check to cover the damages. The check arrived today, 7/25/16, and all is well. I know they all work hard, and I believe that if any conflicts are worked out with respect and dignity given to and from all parties involved, that the conflicts can be resolved. At least they were in my case.

  12. My moving experience at Affordable Movers.

The moving team was great! They came on time, were fast, amicable and finished in a little bit less than I expected them to. My studio forniture (which went from nyc to chi town) wasn't too hard to ship and they also helped me wrap everything well, and the price is a yes yes yes. The whole process from booking to moving was good overall. I would definitely use them again and recommend their services to my collegues, friends and relatives.

  13. Stay away if you moving long distance.

Nightmarish experience moving our big house stuff from VA to NV. Chris initially quoted lower price over the phone. I live in VA and asked about them doing a walk through before estimate. I even send them an estimate given by another mover regarding the items that need to be moved. Chris reassured that the price is final and I fell for it.

On the day of the move 3 guys showed up in an enterprise truck at 7 pm( no kidding) instead of 11 am, that too after so many frantic calls. There was a 4th guy who refused to get out of the truck due to infighting .

3 guys worked until 10 pm and told me that they will be back next day a.m! to finish. I am writing this review awaiting them to show up in the morning. Will keep you guys updated.

Also their sister car moving company assured that they will be here for moving the car. After another batch of frantic calls the guy called saying that the truck broke down and wanted me to scramble and arrange alternate transportation for the car which I had to do.

Stay away from these folks. They may decent for local move or studio apt. moves. Please do not trust them with long distance moves.

  14. Great experience.

I had a really great experience wth this moving company. I had initially searched around for different movers and looked into this one some more. I will say the cost was exactly what I was looking for. Overall I would recommend them to all my friends and family.

They made my moving very smooth and the whole process was as transparent as possible. Thanks so much.
