  1. Great speed and care.

3 movers and a big truck. Moved from 2nd story apartment to a townhouse. So the 3 guys had to move a king sized mattress set and a queen sized for guest room. down 2 stories and then carry back up another steep and narrow flight of stairs on the other end of the move. Plus the shrink wrapped the wood furniture to protect it for scratches. Plus dining room (Solid wood), TV and living room with recliners. August in Florida. Nice guys and nothing broke. 3 men came out and 1 man went down due to dehydration. They called in another man for replacement. I thought we would be through about 1 pm. Nope it was 10:30 am.. Family owned business, and working for over 30 years. Richard came out and gave a quote prior to moving and actually the quote was within $20.00.

  2. Moving trolls.

The truck driver from ADM moving company decided to leave a client’s personal property on the side of the rode while delivering my friend’s belongings to our house. On top of that, he didn’t even deliver all of my friend’s things to our house because he claims that he’s “just the driver”. So apparently that means he can drive around and a huge truck without knowing what he is hauling! (Btw they quoted my friend $1,570 and but ended up tacking on $1,100 because there were items such as a lamp that she failed to include in the item listing).

  3. Beware: Manipulative, deceptive, and dishonest.

I spoke with "Vinny" from this company and he sounded very honest and genuine. He told me that they "are a family owned company" and how much his customers mean to them. He quoted me 1,300$ to move 3.5 bedrooms 600 miles. He "talked me through an online contract" where he "highlighted" the important parts so I "would be clear" and have "no confusion" about the contract. In particular he emphasized "anything we disassemble we will reassemble" and how my personal belongings were insured, directing my attention to parts of the contract that made them sound like an honest company. Furthermore, he told me that for "only 300$" I could reserve a truck and full service move. After booking the move, I was alarmed when I read some of the reviews about this company. I was also skeptical because Vinny had sounded so genuine on the phone and he told me I could call or email him "anytime". I decided to call him back for reassurance. However, after he got my deposit I never heard from him again. I called him several times and emailed him but got no response. At that point I read the contract in more detail and realized that I didn't pay attention to the parts of the contract that stated that it could take "7-14 business days" for them to deliver our belongings. In addition, deposits are only refundable if there is a cancellation that they acknowledge 7 days  before the date of the move. I could not get a hold on anyone in this company by phone or email to request that my deposit was refunded. It was very naive of me not to read the entire contract and needless to say I did not get my 300$ deposit back. This was a learning experience for me and if you are considering hiring American Discount Movers I urge you to learn from my mistake. Please do not be fooled by how honest and genuine they sound on the phone. Read the entire contract before signing, and pay specific attention to how long it could take them to deliver your belongings. Also be aware of the "window" of time they allow themselves for picking up your possessions.

  4. They cost us MORE money.

They charged us $450 to HIRE a moving company for us. They neglected to give the moving company our change of delivery date which ended up COSTING US HUNDREDS of more dollars. They have a F rating on BBB and now I know they deserve that. I called and talked to the manager who interrupted me, yelled at me and hung up on me when I asked for the email proof that they informed the movers of the new move date. He said he worked hard for his money which I find funny since he has managed to swindle our hard earned money and then some. I would not wish this company on my worst enemy. Beware!!

  5. Horrible.

The absolutely WORST experience!  Not only was the staff at ADM rude, a bunch of liars and not helpful, the moving company we got hooked up with were a bunch of liars as well! They were almost 2 days late picking up our stuff and because we shared a truck with another customer and they had "more than the were suppose to" so they strapped our belongings to the outside of the truck!!  I had about enough at that point and the movers were extremely rude when I told them I wasn't paying them THOUSANDS of dollars to have my things strapped to the back of a truck!  Not to mention, when they FINALLY showed up to our new home (unannounced by the way and days late), they wanted a TIP!  REALLY?  We were charged TRIPLE the original quote.  I advise to NEVER EVER use this company.  It would have been cheaper and saved a lot of headaches if we just rented a U-HAUL to drive 6 1/2 hours from Syracuse to Maryland.  I thought it would have been better to hire movers.  If we ever move again, we'll do it ourselves!  STAY FAR AWAY FROM THESE PEOPLE!

  6. They are a mover, not a broker.

They are not movers. They are BROKERS. They subcontract out your move to the lowest bidder. This means ADM has no idea what's going on with your move! And the subcontracted mover can charge you whatever they want! The movers -- All My Family -- were very professional and courteous. It was the brokerage process that was terrible.

ADM wanted an inventory before I was done packing. They told me to put in the max # of boxes I'd have, and that the movers would adjust the inventory (and price) when they got there. The mover said he wouldn't readjust it. ($300)

ADM told me my price was $0.66/lb. They'd weigh my things once they were picked up and readjust the price. So I shipped all my heavy books USPS at $0.23/lb. The movers said the price was based on cubic feet, not weight -- so that was a waste. ($50)

ADM said there were no long-carry charges. The mover had a long carry charge. $75 ADM said my first flight of stairs was free. My mover charged me for non-existent stairs (elevators count as "stairs").

$75 ADM said the movers would reassemble my furniture. My mover would not reassemble it unless I paid a fee.

  7. Beware.

Spoke with Eli who was very courteous, professional and definitely convincing. All changed after that. I Paid my deposit and they disappeared. Movers showed up and price doubled. Services I was told were included were not. At that point I was hooked, was leaving town the day after they picked up everything, no time to find anyone else or move myself. No returned calls or emails. Don't waste your money. I truly feel like I was robbed.

  8. I would not recommend this company.

I highly recommend not using this company for your moving needs.  Our whole experience from beginning to end and even during the claims process was exceptionally stressful and frustrating.  They sub-contracted our move to another company after we paid for certain services.  We never received the services we paid for and neither company would accept responsibility even though we gave all our money to ADM LLC.  ADM LLC refused to take responsibility and repeatedly told us to call their sub-contractor.  The sub-contractor refused all communication with us and was unbelievably rude and unprofessional.  We ended up just throwing in the towel and never received the hundreds of dollars that ADM LLC owes to us in a refund because we were so stressed and frustrated dealing with them.  .

  9. Stay Far Away-do Not Use These People.

This is the most shady company I have ever used for anything.  STAY AWAY from them, once you pay them their portion they will never contact you again.  They are a broker and should be with their customer every step of the way.  I have had to deal directly with the people they contracted the job to.  They are so shady.  I should have used Mayflower or United Van Lines. You definitely get what you pay for with this company.
This is in no way a reflection on the people who actually moved my things, they were excellent.  The moving brokers are a nightmare!!

  10. AMD are liars and theives.

This company practices dishonest, fraudulent and unethical practices. I paid a $450 deposit for my move. The carrier never showed up, never called and when finally reached, was not going to be at my home on the appointed date and American Discount Movers could not provide another carrier. They tried to get me to find someone else to be at my home the next day because they would have a carrier there then. This was not possible. In order to get my refund, I was instructed I had to send a cancellation notice for it to be processed. Then, my refund was denied because I sent a cancellation notice on the day the move was supposed to occur. I only sent the cancellation because their carrier was a no show. This practice is in breach of their contract. If they do not provide service, I am entitled to my refund. Instead, they claim because I cancelled, per their suggestion, I forfeit my refund. I am appalled at the practice of this company. They lie and deceive in order to make money. I filed a complaint with the Florida Attorney General and urge all other customers to do the same. This company should not be allowed to be in business.

  11. Dishonest company/will overcharge even if you abide by the regulations.

Please do not go with this company.  I am not here to write any dishonest information but to save someone else from losing money.  I do not believe in writing negative comments about a company unless they are true.  I owned my own business and understand that people can be rude and say negative things if they don't get their way.  However, this company American Discount Movers will tell you anything you want to hear and Vinny is a smooth talker.  He sounds very professional and guarantees he will work with you through the day of pickup and day of drop off.  I abided by the regulations set forth in the contract and was quoted a price.  I was informed if we add anything we would be charged.  I made sure we did not add anything and in fact we took things off.  My husband and I drove some of the items ourselves prior to the move so that we wouldn't be charged extra.  I did confirm the final inventory with another representative of the company that Vinny told us would contact us a week before.  Unfortunately, that was not the case.  We were also told that we had the right to tell the moving company to take their truck to a weight station and have it weighed before they load the items.  They would also be able to weigh the items after they load.  First of all, ADM is not a moving company.  We were clear of that and I am just letting people know that.  They are a broker.  They contact the moving company.  Anyway, the moving company came and were quoted triple the amount than what ADM quoted us.   We were quoted $3140,98 by American and at first a little more than $9,000 with the moving company.  They agreed to move us for $6378.00 because they were there and wanted our business.  We did not move with them. The gentleman from the moving company was nice.  He knew we were frustrated but, he was in the middle.  He stated there was no way he could move us for the price quoted.  He also said they do not take the truck to a weigh station before or after to weigh the items.  They have never done that.  He tried to have his supervisor talk to us and come down with the rate quoted since he had his men there to move us.  My husband and I said if it was within a decent amount we would have went with the company as we were ready to move.  However, we were not going to pay close to $5000.00 more than quoted.  We tried to contact Vinny and the other representatve who took the final count/inventory.  They did not pick up nor did they respond to my messages.  I also had John, the moving company call and the same thing.    John, stated that this happens alot when they get to the place to move people and he stressed the importance of not going with a broker.  I commented this is not fair to people.  We did not go with the company.  My husband and I moved ourselves with a truck and had movers on the other end in Florida meet us and unload.   As I stated, please listen to me and other comments.  I have nothing to gain.  If this company did an excellent job, I would have been more than willing to comment.  You will lose your deposit.  The company has ignored me and will not call me back.  I even sent a fax to Vinny and did not receive a response.  I also want people to contact me as I am going to pursue this with media coverage.  We also need to go to the better business bureau, and put comments on this website.  When I read a couple of negative reviews before my move I asked Vinny about that and he said, it was because they were upset because they addded more items on and were charged more.  Well, I did not add more items on.   I took items off and still was going to be charged triple.  We were told that the company would arrive on a certan date however, that was not true.  It was two days after the original date but that didn't bother us.  We are more upset b/c of the dishonesty of the company/Vinny.  Lack of communication and professionalism.  No correspondence was provided.  I was in business for seventeen years operating a child care center. I know what it is like to hear people complain.  Some have every right and it is up to me to take care of their complaints, in a professional manner.  Some just complain because they did not get their way or I did not fire a teacher because they didn't like their personality.  I even had staff issues, surprise, surprise-because I didn't grant a vacation to one staff because she didn't get her request in prior to another staff member the disgruntled staff contacted dcfs on me.  However, when the state came out there was nothing to write me up.  It was the staff's way to give me grief.  Eventually, the staff was let go due to other issues.  She did try to have me give her an employment reference.  I didn't.  What I am trying to say, there are people who will complain or write negative reviews.  Again,  do not, do not, do not go with this company.  I do not want to see people get burned and lose their money.  This company is getting wealthy by being deceitful.  Go with a reputable company.  Not a broker and NOT THIS COMPANY.  Please contact me if you want to go forward with me to make a complaint to the Attorney General and other avenues to stop this company from being dishonest.    Also, you cannot leave reviews on their website.  It states closed when you go to that section.  They took it off so no negative comments can be left.  Too me that shows there is something wrong.

  13. American discount movers.

10/16/2014 American discount mover takes your money and makes promises that do not keep. and they their quotes are way off,the cost it ends up being much higher than the original quote. and you get a different answere everytime you call them. these get paid for nothing , they others moving companies that are some that are fly by night co.I I have lots of complaints about both.I would not recomend american discount movers or anyone they deal with.  .

  14. Do not believe these people words.

One of the bad experience I had with movers, these people gave this picking to some other company called UNLIMITED VAN LINES, picking was late(they told me as vehicle broke down, I have a doubt on this), They came to pick the items at 11.30PM after I left the house, I was not there so they increased the volume of the items and charged almost double. as per my calculation the volume was less than 286 cu ft(this is minimum volume as per their  standards), I had packed everything in boxes so I am sure about this. after loading into the truck they said different volumes, according that charges are also increased.  I asked them to provide the proof of the volume but they didn't. the documentation was also poor. I agree there might be some difference in volume but not 80%.   The person from sales team who spoke with me didn't talk to me after I paid the deposit, even the custome rcare was very poor. when I spoke with the other movers first time about my picking, they said "we do not have any documentation about your picking". There was lot of communication gap between these two movers and the trucker.    .

  15. Please don't use these crooks.

What a joke completely!! They arrived to load my items, bad attitudes, then they told me it would be 800.00 more because I had 6 additional items, it took 9 days to arrive, not 5 -7. While unloading, they just threw my stuff around, had my furniture and mattresses on the grass and sand! When I asked them to move it, they told me if I didn't like it to move it myself!! Then I have missing items!! How do you lose an oversized chair?? 1/3 of my boxes were open and lots of items missing. They didn't have tools to put items together, then after I had to go buy some, they put my dining room table together wrong, then refused to correct it. They dropped all boxes and furniture where they wanted, refused to put items where I wanted them. Then destroyed my king size footboard, cracked down the middle, lost the screws to my bed, mattress cover was ripped half off, mattress filthy, broke the foot off my dryer, broke the knobs off my washer, big gouges out of my tables, lots of broken dishes, glasses, vases, pictures, and tv broken! Tried calling them all afternoon and they WONT return my call!! Save yourself don't use these crooks!!
