  1. Reliable Company.

    Assurance helped make my move so easy! Moving across New York was stressful enough and when my family couldn't help me make the trip, I started to freak out! The last thing I needed to worry about was how my belongings were going to get to East Aurora. When a friend recommended Assurance, I was so relieved.

    Assurance is extremely reliable and their employees were fantastic! Every person I communicated with from Assurance was professional. The customer service representatives were able to answer all my questions and made me feel way less stressed about my move. They actually cared about all my concerns and really worked to please me!

    On the day of the big move, the movers showed up on time and worked diligently to get all my belongings ready to go. I was worried about having people handle my fragile belongings, like my china, but they were very careful and nothing broke! I was relieved when all my stuff showed up in perfect condition! I absolutely recommend this company and would even use them again.

  2. Horrible Experience.

    Overall, our experience with Assurance was horrible. Not many things in life are more stressful than moving to another state and starting a new job. And we were trying to do it all with four-month-old twins. Except for the sales guy, Assurance made everything much harder than it needed to be. I’ve moved several times cross country so this is not my first experience with a moving company. Most other experiences were quite positive, but Assurance proved otherwise.
    They came in with the lowest quote so we went with them. It was partially our fault for not insisting on an in-home estimate, but once we paid the deposit we began to understand the game they play. With Assurance being the lowest quote, we had no reason to question the pricing. Once it’s seven days before the pick-up date we could not cancel without a penalty. We were locked in and the price ballooned to more than twice what we were quoted. We expected to pay more than the quote, but not more than twice the quote. It seemed like the QA person intentionally called several days late so that we were locked in and could not cancel.
    Over a week before our pick-up date, I called to change our delivery address. The Colorado housing market is incredibly competitive and we decided to write a different contract on a house that suited us better. When I called to change our address, the customer service lady was not friendly and seemed to not know anything about what I was asking her to do. However, I assumed that she took down our new address and our information was updated. I asked why the QA call hadn’t been done yet and she didn’t know. A couple of days later the QA call finally happened.
    I had to start my new job in Colorado so my wife was unfortunately left to pack up our place while taking care of two babies. Thankfully, the driver arrived with the truck on the right day, but only after he called at 9:30pm to let us know the night before. My wife was up until 4am trying to finish packing. If the call came earlier she would not have been put in that situation. The driver and his helpers were friendly and efficient except that they were expecting to be paid in cash. This felt extremely shady and it was a HUGE inconvenience for my wife who had to load up two babies and find an ATM. We were able to reserve the services with a deposit on a credit card but had to pay in cash for the actual services. Nothing could have been more inconvenient.
    Since we changed our delivery address this delayed our drop-off date a couple of weeks as we were waiting to close on our house. The driver not only did not have ANY updated address and drop-off date that I had previously called with, he informed us that we would be charged $1,800 for “storage in transit.” I was livid! We were NEVER informed of this charge by Assurance and it took us completely off guard. I called Assurance and was treated like I was an idiot. The lady could not understand why I was so upset. I could also hear other workers in the background rudely belittling other customers directly or indirectly. I asked to speak to a supervisor and was put on hold for over 10 minutes until I hung up because I had to go back to work.
    We were then forced to quickly get a storage unit in Colorado—an extra expense and inconvenience we weren’t anticipating. We wanted to hire a moving company because we have baby twins and we needed their help to load AND UNLOAD our items into our house. Instead, Assurance dropped off everything into a storage unit and we had to pay for a U-Haul truck to move our stuff ourselves from the storage unit to our house. We did this while we kept our babies in a running car to keep them warm while made dozens of trips up and down the truck ramp and back and forth to our house.
    We were angry, but what had my wife in tears was when we were in the process of moving our stuff into the U-Haul we found item after item damaged or broken. Two expensive dressers that may not be able to be repaired, a large picture broken into pieces, a bookcase we have to throw away, a sentimental bag my wife bought in Hong Kong. There was no way we could have caught everything when they dropped our stuff off at the storage unit. We probably lost about $2,000 in damages.

  3. Phew.

    Moving from Delaware to New York isn't the furthest trip, but it's too far to ask friends for help, so thank goodness for Assurance. They clearly explained the process and delivered on what they promised. They took the weight off my shoulders (literally) and I am grateful! Plus none of my stuff broke.

  4. Assurance Van Lines.

    I spent hours on end trying to find the perfect company to help with my move, and I'm so glad I went with Assurance. I didn't realize how much stuff I had accumulated over the years until it came time to start packing. I was insanely overwhelmed and started worrying about how I'd get my belongings from one state to the next in one piece. That's where Assurance came in. They were a blessing! They treated my stuff with such care, as if they were moving their own things, and did so in a timely manner too. They made moving almost feel easy, that's how helpful they were. From now on they're the only company I'll recommend to move with, there's no one better!

  5. Long Distance Move.

    After spending most of my life in Arizona, I decided it was time for a change. My sister recently moved to Virginia and absolutely loved it there, so I decided that I would move there as well, to try and start a new chapter. Of course, that kind of move was not only daunting, but prices were horrendous to get there.

    After calling and speaking with countless moving companies, I came across Assurance Van Lines. The representative on the phone was extremely friendly and very helpful. She made something so daunting seem like it would be easy, so I decided to go with them.

    When it came time for the big move, I was incredibly nervous, but the movers who came to help me pack were excellent. They were extra careful with my things and answered all of my questions for me without hesitation.

    When I finally made the drive (with 2 dogs in the car), I was incredibly nervous that some of my fragile items wouldn't make it in one piece. Turns out, I had nothing to worry about! Not only was the customer service excellent with Assurance Van Lines, but everything arrived in perfect condition.

    There are two things I'm absolutely certain of: that I love Virginia, and that next time I move, I'm using this company again!

  6. Not good, stay away!

    After attempting to get a few quotes to move household items from a 5x10 storage unit in Albany ny to North Carolina, I spoke with a rep at assurance. I explained it was 90% full, a few small pieces of furniture n boxes of household n personal stuff, nothing crazy heavy, no big value, just family things important to me. Based on the size I received a quote of just over $1500. And was told that there was a truck going that weekend with similar pickup n destination that my items could go with. I gave assurance a $500 deposit. The day of pickup a rented Penske turuck arrives at the storage unit, ?( , no assurance van truck), ok, 3 pleasant, efficient guys pack up my stuff, an hour later, the lead guys tells me we are over , 33% of the estimate. The paper work is now for State to state movers?(another surprise).Luckily I had cash ( assurance told me they required cash or postal money order, half at pickup, half at delivery, I had both fortunately, my stuff is loaded, I need, want it at my new place, so I pay ).
    The driver asks when I'm first available for delivery, I am usually at the house a few days a month, travel slot for work and let him know I need to arrange in advance, I give him the 2 days I'm available n am told they will be delivered then. I hear nothing from assurance nor state to state, I call the day prior to when I'm expecting delivery, assurance says they will check about increase changes n they will email me the contact into for state to state about delivery, I'm flying to get to the house for delivery, when I land, no email, office is closed. Send emails to Rep at assurance, day I expect delivery, call assurance , they r still looking into. I get state to states number., voice mail. Finally a women answers "hello", no name, company, I ask is this state to state, yes. Explain I would like to know what time my delivery will come. She says oh not today, it's being loaded this weekend! Wow! Saga continues, I explain the situation, she says she will follow up. I call back assurance, explain, ask how I went from the truck last weekend to a company called state to state w a rented truck n who knows when it will be delivered at 33% higher then the estimate. In the middle of the conversation, she says, hello, hello, can U hear me, then hangs up. Wow! Haven't heard back from anyone. When I cool down I'll
    Contact the state consumer affairs. N better business bureau.

  7. Very accommodating during a rushed move.

    I'm very impressed with Assurance! They were very accommodating when I had to move from WA to TX. This was probably one of my most stressful moves ever because I only had 4 weeks to do it. Luckily, they have packing services available so that helped take the weight off of me to do it alone. They made this so easy for me--literally as easy as getting the quote, booking, pick-up, and drop-off at my new home. Definitely would recommend Assurance to handle any long distance moving!

    they promised me for 21 days delivery, but it is more then a month still I don't know where is my boxes, when ever call them after 1 hour hold they telling the driver will call you when he close to your area but I didn't know when the driver will call me, it is more then a month I didn't receive any call.

  9. Smooth Sailing.

    When we found out my husband was being relocated in the military we were a little overwhelmed. I am not sure how I would have been able to do all of this without the help of the staff at Assurance. We had help packing up from friends and family, but when it came time to move, these guys came in, scooped everything up, helped us move everything to our new location, and helped unload everything. It really was a great experience. They were upfront with their prices, made all their deadlines, and were extremely respectful of our belongings and privacy. Thumbs up guys thank you!!

  10. Easy Move.

    My partner and I decided to move to Knoxville together and so we had to combine our separate apartments into one moving service. We thought this would be a really annoying process but this company made it easy to go from one apartment to the other and get both sets of stuff before we hauled off to Knoxville. They even took an extra stop at my shared storage unit to grab a few extra things. Very flexible and professional.

  11. Great Experience!

    I had a great experience with Assurance. They took a lot of the stress out of my recent move. The long distance was no big deal for them. They stored everything securely and none of my furniture or belongings were damaged.

    They made the process easy from beginning to end. The staff was helpful and professional. They knew exactly what to do with almost no direction required. The price was lower than other companies I'd researched and they blew me away with the service they provided. Thanks for making my move easy!

  12. Horrible experience!

    PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE go with a different company! These people book your move by telling you a really good price by beating the other competitors and BRIAN the person I booked it with advised me my price was from top to bottom as long as I stay under 50 boxes! So I did just that..The movers came that were from a third party packed up my whole house and then advised me my price went up by $2,000!! Brian is a liar do not book with these scammers at all! When I called to confront them no one answered my phone call. I had to borrow my friends cell phone to call them so my name wouldn't show up on the caller ID. They answered of course because they thought it was a new customer. I let them know I wasn't happy at all!! I was put on hold for an hour!! Destiny the receptionist blew me off and when I wanted a copy of my contract she just sent me an itemized list of my belongings!! Which clearly she copy and pasted from Excel and it didn't even have my information on it at all!! Save your money and go with someone else!! please please don't ignore my review! this company needs to be shut down!!

  14. Moving.

    Assurance was fantastic for my most recent move. They saved me time, money, and a lot of headache. All of my stuff arrived safe, nothing was broken or scuffed, and they took great care of my antique grandfather clock, which was definitely a high priority for me. The staff was super friendly and professional and did everything with a smile, it was awesome. Definitely recommend if you’re looking to move anytime soon!

  15. Awful Experience.

    Do not waste your time. Anyone who gave this company 5 stars is either a fake account, a friend, or worker. I thought booking through Assurance Van Lines was the biggest mistake of my life, however Transit Moving- the contracted company by Assurance has managed to top them in awful performances.

    I am due to have a baby anyday and had to move from Seattle to New Orleans, due to my husbands career in civil service. We had our items 100% entirely packed and ready to go on "moving day", the movers were at our home for maybe 25 minutes, long enough to charge almost $1000 more than quoted. We left Seattle that night to drive to New Orleans. Our items were to be delivered 8 days later as promised by Assurance and the date I wrote when the moving team came. I called with 5 days left until delivery date to double check the items were on the truck and headed south. I was told that because I wrote 11/1/17 instead of 11-01-17 the company took my first delivery date as 11/11/17. ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!? There wasn't a better [EDIT] excuse or a lying company to come up with?? Now, I have paid $2400 for a SINGLE apartments worth of stuff and all of my unborn daughters belongings to arrive "within the 21 day legal window we have from the written date". What's really interesting is not one individual can provide a photo of my signature and date.

    I called Transit on this past Friday just in hopes it may be sooner and we do not have to purchase new baby items after such an overpriced move. I was told my items would arrive Monday or Tuesday. I was shocked! As they have not arrived, we just called to see a delivery window for tomorrow. They told us to only contact the driver from now on, switching the hand of blame. The driver stated there was no chance he would arrive earlier than this weekend (6 days from today another 12 from my original promise) or next week.

    Moving is a game, do not play with this.
