  1. Inept AVL Moving Systems in Santa Clarita.

    Never,..ever,..even consider using this company in Santa Clarita. AVL Moving Systems. The previous negative reviews are indeed correct.  Other than the nice guy in sales, (but who still mislead me into thinking that things were far more inclusive in the price than it actually was going to be) there is no saving grace for any of them.  First of all, be aware that part of your 3 hours includes 20 minutes of paperwork. Then be prepared for at least twice the amount you are quoted on the phone. As well, even though you are advised to pack everything so that all they have to do is pick it up,..that is not at all what they mean.

    For the most part, they will not take most things, unless packed to their specifics, and forces you to buy their materials to do it.  And then finally, they will tell you they accept checks,..they really do not mean that either.  They will tell you it's OK,,..and then change their mind midstream.  I was not prepared to pay cash after the price doubled, and I already had used up almost half an hour of my time.  So what did they do?? THESE PEOPLE LEFT ME STRANDED! This just happened to me on Sunday, and every part of this is exactly what transpired.

    I will continue writing these reviews to be sure the word is out. Magpies such as these 2 persons on Sunday,..(one is named Dan Sunz) should not be allowed in a service industry.  I have never encountered such inept customer service in all of my life. I did get a call from a customer service person later on in the day,..and when I explained,..all I got was a feeble and insincere,..'So sorry it didn't work out for you." Seriously?! Star rating is -0.

  2. Classic Bait and Switch tactics and illegal hidden charges.

    I hired AVL in Dec 2012 to move me out of my home and to store my goods in storage. I contracted for 4 men at $95/ hr and to store my goods in a 10'x30' storage unit for $250/month with first month free.
    On the move out day, 3 men showed up to move me. Being days after X-mas, I was forced to use AVL instead of finding another company last second.
    The movers didn't give me a "change order" for the 3 men instead of what was in the contract for four men, nor did they give me a price until they have already loaded the truck.
    I was then shocked at an enormous bill for packing materials. They charged me for tape, shrink wrap that according to the CPUC, is illegal to charge the consumer per Max Rate 4, item 340.  (It took over 1 month to get refund of packing materials after CPUC sent a demand letter to RAM dba AVL moving).
    I paid the movers, and asked for copies of the forms I signed and the driver refused to give me a copy as it was the only copy he had and didn't have triplecits.
    I asked for copies of my contracts and bill of lading on Jan 2 and didn't get my copies until March 7 when the CPUC gave them to me after requesting them from AVL.
    In Feb, the first storage bill came; it was in French, and was asking for $450. Now why is the bill in French, and why $450 when the contract we had was for $250/month? 
    This started a fight between the owner, Suraj Viswanathan, and myself over how he conducts business.
    I worked with the CPUC to view my items and verify that AVL did have them stored on March 7. It turns out, instead of the 10'x30' unit contracted for, they put most of my stuff in a 10'x20' and co-mingled the rest into a second adjoining unit with other people's stuff. On March 22, the day of move out, I noticed that all of belongings have been gone through and ended up missing property (pictures taken on both days will show that the boxes were taken out of storage and put back in in different places). AVL did not have a good explanation of why my goods who was supposed to be in their own 10'x30' unit was tampered with.
    End results so far, AVL was ordered by the CPUC to refund me for illegal overcharge of packing materials, ordered to refund for boxes that were not accounted for but were charged as part of the packing materials, and now have been found guilty in small claims for the breech of contract issues as well as lost/stolen goods.
    Suraj was rude, yelled at me, cursed, and refused to act in a professional matter when it came to deal with a customer that his company had wronged.
    Do not do business with AVL, Ram Moving Corp or any of its DBA's.

  3. Damage & pricing.

    I had property damaged and the manager refused to acknowledge my multiple attempts to contact him regarding what he was going to do about it.  Movers were ok, but took 9 hours to move a 1300sf 6 miles & over charged me for the wrapping of items.

  4. Shady Movers with predatory methods.

    Stay away from these Crooks. They are incorrigable. They business practices are predatory in nature and shady at best. They hit you with all kinds of unexpected costs and take advantage of your position of weakness (limited leverage when you are ready for a big move). My move was intown from a small 2 bedroom apartment to my first home and I spent more than someone would spend moving upstate within California. Beware of Danielle Jones and his crew. They are dishonest and will make your move experience an extremely unpleasent one. I am a reasonable man with a good family but felt expremely humiliated when I was hit with hidden suprises and unexpected costs. AVL moving systems would NOT get my referalls and continued business. .

  5. Moving experience.

    They arrived on time and not everything was packed, they helped get us focused and organized to complete the packing quickly. There was a narrow steep stairway to get out of the apartment and they needed to hand carry everything out - they were very efficient and took care with our belongings.  We moved out of one apartment and had delivery of belongings to more than one location - they loaded the truck accordingly and it was not a problem.   We were very impressed with their service.  A good moving experience.  I would recommend these movers to anyone, very professional and organized. They were also very careful with everything, nothing was damaged or broken and they were very respectful of our property and our home.

  6. Worst Experience EVER.

    They were over 24 hours late.. I had to pay for extra rent.  I had to stay in town an extra day which casued me to spend extra money to fly someone to pick up my child when I was supposed to pick her up.They didn't bring a big enough truck.. I had to keep my garage several extra days which cost me more money.   The supervisor was condescending and unprofessional.  Conducted the whole move via text.  They broke over $2000 worth of stuff and four weeks later, I still can't get anyone to call me back!  Horrible company.

  7. Moving was a pleasant experience!

    I hardly write reviews for the services received. This time my heart kind of tempted me to write a review for AVL Since they gave my moving experience a great pleasure! Dan arrived on time for pickup with his colleagues, they packed the stuff very carefully an it took them around 5 hours in total. I was expecting the late delivery however it was not the case. They delivered the stuff on time. I gave $50 tip to the driver for being on time!! Everything was unloaded to my new apt in one piece, a huge relief for me! Thank you AVL for the quick service!

  8. Stay away from AVL ! Dont believe the good reviews.

    I moved from Fremont,CA to Bellevue,WA.I did a big mistake by going with AVL after reading good reviews. I was provided with 2 quotes(packing extra 0.2 for both) – 0.57 per lbs for 1500 lbs0.45 per lbs for 2500 lbs  Goods were picked up from my house in Fremont,CA on 31-March.They took advance from me considering the rate for 1500 lbs.For the next two weeks there was NO communication from AVL regarding the actual weight and remaining balance.Our communication was also not replied to. On 17-Apr evening, I got email from Jeff(GM) mentioning about actual weight and balance remaining.The goods reached my house in Bellevue,WA just an hour or two after that.My wife had to run badly to make arrangements for the cash payment. Looking at the receipt closely, we saw that the weight was well above 2500 lbs but we were charged at 0.57 per lbs.When asked to Jeff about the same, he said he cannot modify the receipt since it was 7 PM already.He replied that he will talk with people and get things sorted the next day.  I had no option but to pay as per the amount charged in the bill(otherwise those [EDIT] would have charged for driver stay n all). Thereafter we are trying to get hold of Jeff to question why were we charged extra ?But there has been no response from him. Customer care is [EDIT].When asked to escalate the lady called Janet,asked me to send an email of all the happenings and never reverted.  To add to my woes,I have found the following - 1.Few crockeries and glasses broken up.2.I forgot to give some light bulbs while packing.I gave them to Alex and he said he would pack them after it reaches storage.I haven't received them at all !3.I am finding bedbugs in the mattresses after delivery.There were none in my old apt and current apt. till the stuff was delivered. This really puts a question mark on credibility on AVL. I have already suffered with the delivery and responsiveness. Thanks,AMIT.

  9. Never ever try this company.

    The same day delivery received 3 days later:
    - Lost Item
    - An hour as they picked up my furniture they told me it will take 3 days instead of one day.
    - I requested returning my furniture right away but they hanged up on me
    - Complaint department located in India
    -hidden extra expenses.
    -Later I found this on http://rateitall.com about this company mentioned by agent 77 on that website.

  10. AVL moving systems was the least stressful part of my move.

    First off, they have amazing customer service. Whatever formula they have come up with to figure out how long it will take to move you in and out of your apartment was spot on. There is no deposit required and when I thought that it might take an extra hour, because I had yet to box up all my stuff when I made my reservation, they added on the extra hour.

    Simon and crew called when they anticipated being late, but they ended up being on time anyway. Even though U-Haul is a bunch of losers and the truck had yet to arrive at my apartment Simon and the guys just started moving boxes down my four flights of stairs, setting everything up to be moved right into the U-Haul once it got there.
