  1. Great experience with Best Price Moving

What a great experience we had with Best Price Moving! We were concerned when we had to move very quickly across country during perhaps the busiest moving season EVER. We hired Proud American movers thinking they were the actual movers, they were merely a broker, big waste of money, wish we hired Best Price directly. Best Price was far more responsive than the broker and were able to get to us when they said they would and the movers themselves were great. Super nice and did a wonderful job! The other end was just as successful. Another great crew that went above and beyond. Thank you Best Price!!!

  2. These guys are crooked and should not be used.

I had the worst most unethical experience of my life with Best Price Moving. To make things concise for the reader who wants the bottom line, They showed up two days late at 6:00 pm which required us to do some of the packing we hired them as our schedule couldn't slip any further. They changed the contract, while verbally telling me it was the same, legally overcharging me by over $2400. The movers yelled at my girlfriend because there were too many screws in my bed to disassemble, smoked in front of me while signing the contract. These guys do not deserve to be in business.

I worked with a moving broker called Northern Moving Systems, and "Best Price Moving" was contracted to both pack and move my stuff. I did not have time to verify reviews of "Best Price Moving" and I didn't know who was coming until the day of the move. Northern Moving Systems quoted a 1080 cubic foot estimate which his the contract I signed. They also provided a 1500 cubic foot estimate contract I didn't sign. The whole time Northern Moving Systems assured me that with their contract I would only pay for what was moved.

BUT "Best Price" Moving showed up TWO DAYS LATE with a different contract for a 38% overestimated contract for 1500 cubic feet, I told them I only asked for 1080, and they verbally told me that the price would go down with what was shipped. They arrived at 6:00 PM with two hours of time to pack, I foolishly decided to believe them and not waste my time hiring a contracts attorney to look over this new contract. In the end they moved 1080 cubic feet but still charged me the EXTRA $2400+ for 1500 cubic feet. I've been told that by their lawyer that the contract they had me sign nullified my previous contract, and that it was the same as buying something from Walmart (contracts law is not). I will be talking to my own lawyer to find out. Northern Moving talked with them too to allow me out of the contract and were frustrated as well with their unethical behavior. I hope they don't ever hire them again, but I blame them both for this.

  3. Move from Chicago to Tampa.

PLEASE AVOID THIS COMPANY. WAS LITERALLY CHEATED BY THIS COMPANY.
After discussing with 3 days I booked this company for my move from Chicago to Tampa through .One of the guy called chase talked to me for almost 2 to 3 hours and lied all the information and make sure I book this company and do the 25% of payment. After this he never picked my call. The company outsourced to a local b grade company Best Price movers and packers. That company blackmailed me on the day of moving and told me I that I have to pay extra 1000 USD because my inventory is different. I have reduced my item and they consider office chair and rotating chair as different item. At the delivery the person literally told me that my truck cannot come inside and you need to pay another 800 for U haul. That’s was not correct. I can confirm that bigger truck can come inside. I have seen it but at the delivery they just ransomed me and told I need to pay extra. I have to pay full amount in advance then only they and unload my goods. They just ransomed me and took full money before unloading. I have to pay 1800 extra now. They just dropped all my luggage and left as I did not sign that they have delivered. They did not unpacked my items also which they were supposed to do. They took one luggage and told me that once you sign that your order is delivered then they will ship the item.
The person misbehaved with my family. I just felt helpless here. I was mentally disturbed and harassed by this company delivery guy.

    PLEASE PLEASE AVOID THIS.

  4. Buyer Beware.

This company checks off everything you should avoid when moving— they have played every scam trick in the book with us during our move and have been a nightmare. We chose them because they supposedly had a good standing with the BBB and have been accredited since 2015. However, their practices have added stress to an already stressful cross-country move.
Here’s the basic run-down of our experience with them:
    1. Movers were rude and upon picking up stuff; condescending to us saying they’ve been moving for 18years when we asked basic questions about protocol rather than answering our questions
    2. Company called and said they would arrive between 3-5pm, movers then showed up at 12:30pm and then tried to hurry us along as we were finishing up final packing
    3. Driver insisted that we sign documents that were incorrect (delivery address was written wrong, items listed were triple the amount we had, box count was hyper inflated, etc)
    4. Tried to charge us for supplies when we self packed, insisted on taping everything which was unnecessary so he could charge for tape; also did that with shrink wrapping unnecessary items and then tried to charge for it
    5. Did not count boxes, other 2 moving guys were taking boxes away before they were even documented, we were still filling out paperwork
    6. Tone and pressure of driver made us feel under duress and as though we had no choice to sign papers; I kept telling him I didn’t want to sign papers with incorrect information as it is a legal contract but he told me none of the information on there “really mattered”
    7. Told us that at drop off we would have to pay cash to the driver and that credit cards were not an option in CA (we confirmed this is not true)
    8. Driver informed us that the next driver could charge for taking our goods up stairs to our apartment when all along they have known we are on the second floor and were never told anything about extra charges for stairs in our bid or contract; driver said that anything over 12 stairs is game for being charged just depends on “whether the driver that day feels like being a dick”
    9. Took our things and never followed up on an ETA for delivery
    10. Finally, third party broker managed to get ahold of them after 10 days and weight came in at exactly 1000 lbs over the bid
    11. Driver to SF claims he contacted us and left messages which is untrue as we have no record of calls or messages 2 days out
    12. Set up time for a re-weigh in Oakland before delivery, told us to meet at 7am and was substantially late (we waited at the weigh station for over 2.5 hours)costing us time waiting and time taken off of work.

  5. The worst move.

I trusted Charter Van Line to help us move from different state. They hired a 3rd company and they lost of boxes and charged us extra during the delivery. I called for a month daily- Charter Van Line did not help me get my missing boxes back or reimbursed me for the extra charge caused by the 3rd party. This was the worst decision we made when we decide to let Charter van line help us. The worst company and I would never hire them again for my future move. Constant calls to them and at the end they told me file a complaint. Seriously!? To this day, I have not received a call or an email with an apology or offer of an reimbursement. The worst COMPANY EVER! Do not use them.

  6. Rude, damaged furniture and extorted us for money with FALSE claims!

Best Price Moving & Storage was booked via Gold Standard Relocation (GSR) on December 24th. I was told by GSR that Best Price would 1) make a 2nd delivery at a storage unit a few miles from my new house and 2) would not charge me any additional fees for unloading at my house, given that I live on a quiet residential street where large moving trucks are allowed. On January 15th, I was told by Best Price they would not make a 2nd stop! Best Price picked up my goods Wednesday, January 16th as planned.

On Friday, January 18th, Best Price contacted me and said they MIGHT have to charge me another $400 upon delivery if their truck could not access the house. I said there will be no issues with the truck parking in front of our house and large moving trucks can access our street from several directions. I called Gold Standard and was assured if the truck can park in front of the house, then there should not be any additional charges. At this point I did NOT agree to the extra charges with Best Price, and continued to state there would be no issues accessing the house as it's on a wide, residential street.

On Saturday, January 19th, the movers and stated they HAD to move my belongings into a smaller truck, without even seeing the street. Then later, they said there was a 'no trucks' sign and their original truck would not fit. This is false, I have photos of our house, and the sign directly in front of it, there are no signs about "No Trucks" anywhere on our street.

Furthermore, many large moving trucks have used this exact street before, so this was not an issue any other mover ever had. They simply wanted more money and even tried to send us a photo showing a 'no trucks' sign; but this sign is nowhere to be found on our street. In fact it's several streets away and a large moving van could easily access our street.

Also, they said if we didn't pay the extra $400, they would start charging us $100 per hour for a 'waiting fee' until we agreed to pay them. This is extortion! To top it off, they damaged my desk and dresser, the latter is nearly unusable now. NEVER USE THIS COMPANY!

  7. Overall okay- but beware.

Overall, had an okay experience with Best Price, but some things stand out that made it less than a stellar move.

First, I was moving from Chicago and the movers threw a fit when they showed up that they couldn't block one lane of the road in Chicago so they almost left until I begged and pleaded with them to stay since I was leaving the next day for my cross-country move to Denver. Even though they are a Chicago-based company, they acted like they had never moved someone out of the city and they were really ready to leave and not move me which was absurd. Luckily, I convinced them with my begging and pleading to park on Sheffield and stated that people would drive around their truck and there ended up being no issues during the entire time they packed and loaded me into their truck. How are you a Chicago based company and don't know that you can't fit your truck in the alley and you may have to block a lane? it happens on almost every Chicago street..

Once the packing got started, they were relatively quick which was nice. They weren't the most gentle people I've seen move items and it showed when a few pieces showed up and were damaged. None of the items were of huge value luckily, but disappointing to say the least.

I didn't choose this company, this company was chosen by the moving logistics company I used (Charter Van Lines) and I would never choose this company on my own. The estimate I received from the logistics moving company was about $2,500 less than what it ended up being so I assume that because it was two companies I was dealing with, that:
    1. Both companies want to get paid so they charge more so both can make a profit
    2. There is miscommunication between the money of how things are priced (i.e. cubic feet, weight, # of items, etc.)

If you have a choice, I recommend staying away from Best Price and Charter Van Lines (The logistics company) and use a company that quotes and moves themselves.

  8. Worst ever!!

I went room by room with sales rep and ended up shipping less than the original list, at the day of pickup it was 150% more than original estimate. The day after pick up they called up and asked for 1000$ more since they have to transfer truck !!estimate was 3 grant charged me 7200 asking for 1 grant more ! So if you have unlimited money go for them. Second, after shipping you talk to rude people in dispatch, always go to VM , never call back. It has been 7 days I have no clue where my stuff is. We are living with airbeds and disposable. Now they called and said may be a month!!I was told 4 days by sales guy! Stay away!

  9. Worst movers.

This is by far the worst service company I have heard of. They are extremely rude and have no sense of decency. Please, do not hire them, unless you are ready for headaches. They delivered my stuff after 21 days, the very last day on the scheduled window, from Chicago to Oregon. The delivery driver was a big joke. He came 4 hours later than He had scheduled, took an hour plus to transfer the furniture (single b/r furniture) to a uhaul and eventually claimed he could not fit everything..left some of the items on the parking lot and drove off. It took me and my friends just 10 minutes to rearrange his shody packing and everything fit. The driver was mad because I refused to pay $300 extra for them to deliver my suff to my apartment, as if I didn't pay for the service including delivery to the destination. Shame on you "best price movers". You are literally the worst in the business world. David Carter AKA sweet talker, know this, what goes around comes back around..you are a lier and once you get the business, you wash off your hands and move on to the next victim..this guy will never talk to you once your items are picked up..
Pathetic company..DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY..you have been warned.

  10. Best Price Movers.

I recently moved from Chicago to New Orleans. The setup on the front end with North Star Van Lines was wonderful, as were the gentlemen from Best Price Movers on the Chicago end. In fact, I've never been so impressed by a moving company. Until we got to Louisiana.

First of all, the driver was messaging me asking if there was room for a full semi trailer. This is not my job, nor did it matter whether there was room or not, as you will soon see. Secondly, he turned up at the wrong address and said he had arrived. Thirdly, they arrived three days after the 2-10 day delivery window. If these had been the only problems I would have given it a pass. However, they then told me that they were not able to access my street with a semi truck, and charged me $200 to rent a Uhaul and drive to my place.

I understand that it was in my contract that if a semi was not able to reach my home, I might be charged $200 to move the load into a smaller truck to get it there. That seemed very reasonable when I read it. They took advantage of that clause:

    1) The street I live on is about 21' wide. This is not a curb to curb measurement, it is the width between parked cars on the North and South side of the street. There is room for a semi and a lane for traffic to get past it.

2)You turn onto this road from a boulevard with two lanes in either direction. If you can't get a semi onto this street, then there is no reason to expect one to fit on any residential street.

    3) The $200 I spent went to getting a 10' Uhaul Truck. I can currently rent a 10' Uhaul Truck for a day in New Orleans for $19.95.

If that's not enough, the dispatcher was rude and callous to me, and I'm afraid to say that made me rude and callous back. I explained to him that I had just had my wallet stolen, that my accounts had been frozen and I did not have access to the additional $200 cash with no notice. Why had they not checked if there was room for a semi prior to bringing one down? Was there any way he could please bill me for the new amount at a later date? He accused me of trying to trick the moving company out of their money and as a result I was required to beg for a loan from my brand new neighbors in order to get my things, or be charged additionally for public storage. There is even a police report number to verify that I am a victim of theft, and he still forced me to have cash in hand or he wouldn't deliver my things.

To top it all off, when my things arrived an item was missing. The drivers were able to locate it and drop it off later, but it was the cherry on top of a very poorly run day.

Because of the way moving companies broker things out, I'm not even sure what company I was working with at that point. When first contacted, I was with Legacy Movers. The estimate I signed was with North Star Van Lines, and the company in Chicago I signed my contract with was Best Price Movers. So avoid all of these?

  11. Couldn’t have asked for a better service!

We hired Best Price at the recommendation of a friend who had used them before, and I'm glad we did! They were more careful with our belongings than we are!! They arrived right on time but we weren't quite finished packing when they arrived. They got to work right away, making us space to finish packing those few boxes. We told them not to worry about the floors in the old house because the new owners would be replacing them anyway, but they covered everything up and took really good care of the house even when they didn't have to.

  12. Very fair deal.

I had a great experience with Best Price Moving and Storage.
I got numerous phone calls from different companies, but the relocation consultant with Best Price seemed to be the most knowledgeable and honest. My representative name was Daniel. He explained to me what services are extra charges and we included them into the estimate. He went over my inventory, amount of boxes, packing materials, details regarding the building and theaccess to it and so on. The price he provided was exactly what I paid! Nothingwas broken or stolen. Everything arrived safely and was nicely wrapped. Yes,delivery took a while, but I was warned regarding the delivery window andexpected it. Overall, I think I got a very fair deal. I would recommend myfriends to use this company.

  13. Stolen ad broken itens.

This comany broke new things on the day they were loading the truck. They added charges which is different than what the contract said. Then they would hold items hostage. Much lying and am missing a box with over 70 dvd/blu ray movies . they broke the handle to my safe. I have filed a claim with the BBB and am expecting a response soon. If I do not get a response soon will contact the BBB and refile. I estimate fore broken and undelivered goods etc they owe us about $3000. Do not use them they will also leave a mess outside by where the truck was parked of packing materials and other garbage and takes many stinking smoke breaks.

  14. Still Waiting On Delivery..

Friends of mine spent many months raising money to be able to move from Illinois to North Carolina, only to be hooked up with this company. The husband fell during the move and ended up in the hospital for 4 weeks; the wife also ended up in the hospital for several days after blacking out while driving which was attributed to stress. This moving company upped the price, and wanted $7000 to deliver. All they had was $5000, but the company refused to deliver unless they would pay the whole thing and is threatening to auction off all of their worldly goods instead of delivering, plus they are also threatening to charge them for "storing" it!! Can you believe that? This couple has been unable to work for these 3 months as they have been involved in this move and unexpected hospitalizations so there is no income to pay for all this increase the company has slapped on them. Everything they own is being held hostage by this company!! It doesn't take much brains to realize that this is just NOT RIGHT!!

  15. Avoid Best Price Moving.

IF YOU READ THIS, RUN FROM BEST PRICE MOVING AND STORAGE. DO NOT WALK, RUN, unless of course you want to pay more than all other quotes in the end.

Received "Binding" quote. It was a good quote. Movers came, loaded, and stated there were 165 total pieces after they loaded the truck. Impossible to argue unless wanted them to unload everything and count which is not realistic unless want things broken upon reloading as the movers would not be happy.

Received final paperwork at end. I had to pay remainder of balance before they would unload off truck. The paperwork showed 65 items (the line item started at number 110). At this point, unless I wanted to wait for who knows how long to receive my items, I had to pay. I figured I could have it resolved afterwards and paid the balance in order to receive my stuff that day and not have to worry about it being mishandled due to frustrated movers.

Afterwards, when I tried to reach my representative on multiple days, his colleagues continuously informed me he was always out of the office when I called. I thought this was unusual as I was always able to reach him easily before I committed by making my down payment. I sent multiple emails as well and have yet to receive a response. This was approximately 45 days ago.

My representative's name was David Carter. He appeared to be a very nice ethical man on the phone. The end result was the move cost me approx. $1000 more than it would have cost with other movers I spoke to.

Below are two emails I sent to Mr. David Carter, the last one sent November 7, 2015. I have yet to hear back (phone or email):

    1. David, Attached are the two pages I received from the movers. As you will see, it looks like the movers started at line 110 when quoting 165 items. It appears the original "binding" quote of $1800 should have been the correct amount (also attached). Seeing as I paid $2950, it appears we are due a refund of $1150. Look forward to hearing from you.

    2. David, I chose to go with Best Price because you convinced me that Best Price was ethical and honest and that the negative comments I read were not representative of the majority of customer experiences. I have tried to reach out to you (email and phone) on multiple occasions as well as contact customer service. When I call, they tell me you are out of the office. I have yet to receive a response from you or Customer Service regarding my concern for final billing. Reaching you before I committed to Best Price was not a problem and all of a sudden it is. This does not seem right.
