  1. Company didn't keep their promises.

This company (Steven’s, Northwest and/or Cherokee moving and Storage, all related and of Burlington, Washington, may be ok for a local move, but I think interstate moves are over their heads. I was assured that this company would move our belongings from Friday Harbor, WA to Fort Collins, CO. That our things would be in their possession during the entire move. Two days after our things had been packed and were in Burlington (their office location), I was informed that the move was going to be turned over to Joyce Van Lines, a company I had never heard of or talked with. I was given no reason for this nor was I given a date that our things would be in Fort Collins. On September 13th I was called by a driver for Joyce Van Lines who said he had our things. He made arrangements to meet me at our storage unit on September 17th. He also told me that another trucking company had transported our possessions (he thought it was Yellow Freight) from Burlington, WA to Denver, where he picked up the load. On the day of delivery, the driver advised me that he couldn’t proceed with the unloading until I produced a Cashier’s Check payable to Cherokee Moving and Storage for the entire amount. I saw the request sheet, in which the owner, Joyce Bailey, asked the Joyce driver to over-night the check so she could “meet payroll”. The driver for Joyce and his crew did a fine job of moving our possessions off the truck.
At least three different trucking companies handled our things. I don’t know if Northwest/Steven’s/Cherokee are in business still, but beware!
