Unscrouplous and Unethical.
I contacted Chris' Moving (A Steven's Agent) to move 18,000 lbs from LA to Las Vegas. The move by Chris was very professional and excellent. Chris and his people are terrific. Unfortunately, Stevens is a sleezeball company and they turned what should have been an excellent experience into a very unpleasant "screwing". As with all moves of this size it was a three ring circus during the pick up and delivery. As a result, they neglected to inventory some last minute items, some items of furniture were scratched, some were damaged and a two boxes and a shelf were lost. We didn't discover most of these items until a few weeks after the move when we returned from vacation and unpacked everything. We contacted Chris the day after the move when we discovered the expresso machine and TV damage and he told us to wait until we unpacked everything and then file a claim with Steven's. It took Steven's 2 1/2 months to adjudicate the claim and they disallowed most items and sent us an insulting check for $75 (I paid them $800 to take out full replacement value insurance). We had to do all of the work to get bids to repair or replace the items. The total cost to repair and replace was about $600 (less than what we paid for the insurance). Their rational was that one of the items wasn't inventoried by their people thus they have no proof the item was touched by them, we didn't report the damage or misssing items while the movers were delivering the furniture thus they have no proof the damage didn't occur after the move. As everyone knows, its impossible inventory 800 boxes, unpack and inspect everything while 6 people are delivering boxes all over the house and in a hurry to go home.
In lookievenng at other reviews, it is evident that this is Steven's MO. They blatently take no responsibility for their errors, hide behind the requirement to report any exceptions at time of delivery and screw the client.
Their claim's department is the worst. They are slow to respond and just give you lip service. We paid $8,000 for the move and $800 for insurance to get royally screwed.
Anyone who uses a Steven's agent is taking a huge risk that nothing will be damaged.
