  1. The Worst! AVOID THIS COMPANY

I fell for the sales pitch of a family owned and operated company with great reviews, so I didn't check them out and if I had known these people wouldn't wrap fine furniture and would be left with the damage from sweating on a $2000 velvet hand carved chair or having my furniture thrown around and I find dings and scratches later, I would have certainly passed. So whereas I rarely write reviews unless the person is either exceptionally great at their job or on the other hand want to warn people of the worst of the worst and to avoid at all cost, then I include these careless, rude and deceitful movers. The Absolute WORST I've Ever Used, I'm warning you..... DON"T HIRE THESE PEOPLE!!! It will be a big mistake unless you're moving cheap lawn furniture. Then, the actual total bill was $800 more than I was quoted. I was so happy to get rid of them and I don't know how they stay in business? Maybe they pay people write good reviews??? I've moved several times and usually the movers notice the quality of my furniture and do everything to protect it, but that's not the case with this group! I could say more, but to be more exactly explicit, I'd have to write something some might think sounds vulgar. despite being true in my opinion. I regret using this company and Urge Everyone to look elsewhere. When I get an email the night before my move telling me they won't wear a mask in my house and when the guys arrive they tell ME I can leave while they work because they won't work with a mask, then it's clear that YOU DON"T MATTER!!!!

  2. Moved to Florida from CA

I booked my move from CA to Florida with Coastal Van Lines in Vero Beach, FL. Very Satisfied!

Jake at Coastal arranged a car transport for my automobile and a local Atlas agent to move my household goods into storage, including my motorcycle. I did some of my own packing which helped me sort through my stuff. Jake assured me that the ‘origin agent’ (Ace Relo in San Jose) would pack everything that wouldn’t fit in medium size boxes. On move-day couch, bed, furniture, rugs, and lamps were wrapped in moving pads and along with my motorcycle loaded and transported to San Jose to await pickup by the ‘hauling agent’ to transport my load to Florida.

I flew to Florida and closed on my house. My car arrived in four days. The load took two weeks to get here, which is normal. The Atlas driver called me from Orlando the day before, and arrived the next morning at the Coastal warehouse. Everything was delivered and moved into my home that afternoon. The crew of Drew, Josh and Jason were friendly and efficient. They protected the floor, moved some other things for me, put bed and lamps together and cleaned up. Tip-worthy service. Moving is a tough job, so thank you Jake, Larry and Coastal Van Lines, you made it much easier.

  3. Local move coastal van lines vero beach

Beware of this company! Several items went missing from our move, I called to tell them and they said they would try to 'find' them. After several months we gave up having them returned, and filed a claim, now still nothing. They always have an excuse, checks in the mail etc!! Steer clear of this company!-

  4. Negligent hiring practices = devastating loss.

We used this company for a long haul move and they provided packing and unpacking services. The driver was pleasant enough to work with, however Coastal hired an individual with a known criminal background to help in unpacking our belongings. Suffice it to say, this did not go well. Most of my most important, meaningful and irreplaceable jewelry disappeared with in the hours of the unpacking. Everyone who worked at the house was called back to be interviewed by the police within 5 minutes of the discovery. The individual in question refused to return to speak to police. The company took absolutely NO responsibility for the negligent hire of an individual the police were very familiar with, so familiar that they even told me the pawn shops he and his girlfriend frequent..a very very disheartening situation. In fact, not only did Coastal not take any responsibility for their hire's actions and our significant loss, even after the theft was discovered the on-site operations manager demanded a check immediately be written for the 2 hours of unpacking provided. As part of the initial selection process for this significant move we were told that all employees are licensed and bonded, however this is not true for the people they hire as day laborers and bring into your house and you entrust with your belongings. Apparently they do not even perform a rudimentary background check. A simple Google search of the individual in question turns up a list of petty theft and drug charges. My best advice is to avoid using Coastal Van Lines out of Vero Beach at all costs! They claim to be a strong family run business..however, they clearly do not have the client and the security of their belongings at the top of their list of business practices..I strongly recommend you do not use this company..

  5. Model home move in labor.

Coastal Van lines assisted my model home install team with the labor to unbox and bring in all the furniture and accessories for 6 model homes in Vero. Costal Van lines communicated very well and were on time as scheduled. The core workers were good guys and experienced in their trade showing concern and care for the new furnishings coming out of factory packed boxes. The team came with floor protection and doorway padding etc to prevent any damage to the new homes. Management even showed up on site to inspect and assist with the install as needed. Overall I would recommend their experienced guys within the company to help with similar type moves.

  6. Deceitful Practice - Customer Beware.

Customers using this company, Coastal Van Lines of Vero Beach, Florida must proceed with caution. Overall my move was uneventful until a 32” flat screen tv was completely damaged due to packing by the company. At my final destination, without my observing closely, the packers annotated the bill of lading as “shipper packed”. I realized the mistake and requested that the company speak to the packer to correct the mistake so that I could be compensated for the lost. The response was an indication that the company packers falsely/deceitfully, and purposely annotated the document wrongly so that the company would not be responsible for my lost. I realized also that a box from my shipment was missing. I also realized that the packers deliberately took longer to complete the packing of the truck and much longer to arrive at my new home than what was necessary (approximately 3 hours later). 1 1/2 hours was sufficient to arrive at my new location. I had negotiated a firm price with the company which saved me from having to pay more to this company for the move. I have filed a complaint with the Florida Better Business Bureau. I will contact local military bases by letter to make them aware of the company deceitful practice. The manner in which the document was annotated indicates that this is not the first time this company may have used this method. Please be cautious and alert when doing business with this company. Verify your entire shipment at final destination. BEWARE PLEASE!

  7. 5 stars.

Costal Van Lines was fab! The guys that came out to help me move were wonderful! They were very friendly and worked as quickly, but also carefully as they could despite the fact that it was pouring down rain and I lived up three flights of stairs. They wrapped everything so it wouldn't get wet and they didn't complain even though they were clearly getting wet themselves. I really appreciated all of their help! I wouldn't have been able to move without them. Thanks again!

  8. They really deserve 0; stars.

If I could give them zero stars I would.  Stay away from this company.  They are not family owned.  They are brokers.  It first started with a quote and deposit by credit card.  Subsequent payments could be made by credit card, so the quote person Mary said.  The pickup was supposed to happen on Feb 26th.  They wanted to ickup a day earlier.  The second sign of trouble was the move was supposed to be from a local NC mover.  The truck that showed up was from NJ.  The next item was that the second payment (half of the balance) had to be in
N cash or check.  My furniture was picked up in a box truck (it and taken to Atlanta.  Calls to dispatch went unanswered as to where my furniture was or where it would be taken to.  Finally, on Mar 3rd, someone else called me and said they t had to be in cash.would be bringing the furniture on Mar 4th at 10am.  At 10:15, the driver informed me that he would not be there until 4pm.  I told him that as not good for me and we rescheduled for Mar 5th at 8am.   He showed up on Mar 3rd at 4pm and then refused to enter my gated community.  He was in. 53' tr2ctor trailer.   He wanted $500 more than the balance to rent a box truck to unload the tree and move it to the box truck, where I could then move it to my house myself.  He wanted the balance of the move upfront before unloading the furniture to the box truck.  And, the payment.  This company is unscrupulous and needs to be taken out of business.  Stay very, very far away from this company.

  9. Disappointed.

Only 2 stars because they showed up on time and dropped off on time.
    1) Disappointed in how they handled household goods. Things not packed appropriately so therefore broken. Some irreplaceable. Will submit claims and see how that process works.
    2) Paid by space - Packed empty boxes and or packed small items in large boxes (witnessed by movers unpacking who stated the boxes seemed light); emptied dressers to create more boxes and did not utilize empty containers to pack in. Have moved 4 times in last 10 years so know how much room my goods will take. Downsized significantly. Had they not cheated me on space it is likely the items broken would not have been broken. If you use this company, watch how they are packing.
    3) Upon delivery, the driver disappeared and left whoever he hired to unload to unload. None of the furniture, shelving, work benches were put back together. Unloaded in 3 hours and were gone. Normally takes 8 to 10 hours based on previous moves. I have to hire someone to come in and put items back together.
    4) A couple of the movers asked to drive our 4 wheeler and proceeded to drive recklessly and totalled the vehicle. Am still resolving with my insurance.

I chose this company based on positive reviews. I cannot recommend. I spent $23000 on my move and this has been by far the worst experience I have had. I will be filing a claim. I am hoping this can be resolved.

Am attaching a pdf of some examples of what is listed above.

On a positive note, the sister company that moved my tractor did a great job.

  10. Heartbroken.

I have filed a police report after my experience with Larry Parks' Coastal Van Lines. Several items including tennis rackets, printers, a television, a lap top for the visually impaired, sentimental gifts from my children (which had almost no financial value) and all my jewelry including priceless valuables from my immigrant grandparents, my late parents, and my late husband. In the process of the theft, cabinets and glass panes were destroyed. As this is my retirement, essentially everything I have worked for over 50 years to enjoy were not only stolen but my sense of safety and trust have been violated. I would not only recommend not using this company but question the integrity of any business or organization associated with the Parks family.
