Extremely respectful.
They called beforehand to check the times and arrived when they said they would. They were really efficient, no damage to my stuff or either property. They worked super hard. Awesome job. The easiest moving experience I've had.
Worst movers ever.
Worst moving experience ever. It doesn't matter that you measure out all the pieces that are being moved. On moving day the foreman comes to your house and will charge you at least 20% more just based on eyeballing your moving furniture. Then you will go back and forth with customer service to negotiate down and will end up paying more anyway. Then they lost my baby's expensive high chair in the moving process. In addition my nice wood furniture was scratched in multiple places. If you value any of your belongings do not go with this company. The moving industry does really need to be disrupted.
Scam Company.
I made a big mistake when I chose Corporate Vanlines for my move. They damaged numerous items, lost others, left an entire pallet of my furniture back in NJ, charged twice the agreed amount, and held my belongings hostage until I paid them the doubled amount IN CASH at the time of delivery.
Now, as I am finally garnering the emotional strength - having felt violated and foolish - to deal with filing a claim against them, I find that they have taken down their website, and their phone number is disconnected. So, it appears that I will be filing a claim against a non-entity.
Beyond this horrible company, the moving industry needs to be far more regulated! Nearly all safeguards are to protect the moving companies, not the consumer.
I could go on and on - but it makes me sick. Please, consumers, if you see an ad for Corporate Vanlines out of NJ - or whoever they are claiming to be now - DO NOT call or click on their link. Please do the research that I did not do.
Incompetent, dishonest, couldn't care less.
Buyer beware! Stay
away from these people! At best they are completely incompetent. And they
refuse to acknowledge or cover the massive damages to your goods!
At the end of May I contracted with Corporate Van Lines to
move my 2 bedroom household from PA to Louisiana. After doing a little research
they seemed legit, and even sent me a link to their BBB rating of “A”. (If you
look now, it’s “F”!) The phone rep, Ben Wallace (probably not his real name)
seemed very friendly and helpful and the initial quote seemed reasonable. After
a number of calls and emails we settled on a final price based on actual
dimensions of items to be shipped. So far so good.
Moving day and the movers didn’t arrive as scheduled. Only
when I called was I told it would be the following day. Luckily my time was
flexible and I’m pretty understanding so ok I could deal with that. When they finally arrived it was in an
unmarked rough looking box truck. The guy in charge seemed friendly and complemented
me on how well I had packed things. They
packed a number of large items as agreed in the contract. The two helpers couldn’t
speak English and obviously couldn’t read the word “UP” with arrow on the sides
of boxes, or maybe just didn’t care. They also left huge scratches in the
hardwood floors and quietly helped themselves to food and beer from my fridge
and threw cigarette butts around the front door. After the truck was packed I measured 900 cu
ft. of goods. I was paying over $5k, or $5.60/cu ft. Typical charges are
$3.50/cu ft so more half again more than the going rate and $1400 more than the
estimate. But the contract was signed and the truck was loaded. Ok, whatever, too
late now. I was committed and didn’t make a fuss. Then they insisted on a tip
before they left. It turned out the
worst was yet to come.
On delivery day I was told the driver would call an hour
before they arrived. They never came so after waiting all day I finally called
and was told delivery would be the following day. Ok, no problem at least I
didn’t lose time from work…yet. I was told they’d arrive between 9 and 12 the
following morning so I took the day off from work. 12:00 arrived and no word
from movers. I called and was told they’d be there around 1. 1:00 arrived and I
got a call saying they were “lost”. They finally arrived an hour later and
would not open the truck until I paid the balance of my moving cost, cashier’s check only. It was an Atlas Van Lines truck. Corporate
Van Lines had contracted with Atlas without informing me.
After the truck was
opened I could see why they demanded final payment by cashier’s check. My
belongings were totally smashed and some things were missing. Cleaning liquids
from a smashed box had leaked all over a number of items. So many things were
damaged I’m not going to try to list everything here. If you want details feel
free to contact me, I have lots of photos. Obviously the cashier’s check was
their protection against me canceling any other form of payment like a personal
check. In other words, they knew I was going to be unhappy.
So I finally realized I was being scammed, or they were
completely incompetent at best. After
paying over $5k to move a two bedroom household, with basic insurance ($.60/lb)
and packing most things myself, my belongings arrived completely smashed and broken.
Some of the worst damaged items were those
packed by the movers. The stuff I packed was exactly as directed by Ben
Wallace, the company rep.
After my move I chose not to place online reviews until the
end of the damage claim process, just to give these people the benefit of the
doubt. Corporate Van Lines uses an
independent company movingclaims.net, in Miami, to handle its claims. The process
and documentation is extremely arduous and time consuming (intentionally, I’m
sure). They insisted that all my correspondence with them is by regular mail.
That doesn’t apply to them of course. They correspond with me only by email.
The claim form says “You
must retain all damaged items, parts & packaging, and no repairs are to be
done until claim is settled. You may not dispose of or move the items claimed
from their original delivery location until claim is settled.” So I was living
in an apartment full of broken furniture for 5 months with no end in sight.
After 4 months of waiting for movingclaims.net to respond
they finally proposed an insulting settlement of $62. My damages were well into the thousands but
my claim was very low, only a few hundred dollars, since I’m only entitled to
$.60/lb. In fact I was very conservative with my estimate of damages. Compared
to the actual amount of damage my claim was small but the proposed settlement
of $62 was like a spit in the face.
From the contract: “The carrier shall be liable only for its
failure to use ordinary care… The burden of proving negligence or failure to
use ordinary care required by law shall be on the shipper”. Proving negligence would
be very easy to do with 60 pages of photos. If I accept the $62, I have to sign away any
right to further arbitration or litigation.
Unfortunately, trying to sue an interstate moving company is
very difficult and it’s hard to even find an attorney who will give advice or take
a case dealing with interstate commerce. The laws overwhelmingly favor the
mover and they know it. Also, because they dragged out the claims process for
months, I wasn’t able to dispute the credit card charge for the initial deposit
because it exceeded the time limit. So basically I’m just screwed. The only
thing I can do is warn others to not make the same mistake!
So I repeat, buyer
beware, this company is a scam and should be avoided at all cost!! And
be aware, they will probably change their name again soon. They did it before, just
look at the New Jersey BBB web site.
Furthermore, it’s incomprehensible that anyone would give
this company a 5 star review but look at their Facebook page. The profiles of
those who left positive reviews look totally bogus. Why are all the reviews either
5 stars or one star, nothing in between? Curious.
Regret hiring this company.
On June 25, 2015, the foreman Justin or "Jay" from Corporate Van Lines arrived at my house in PA with two helpers. We had 43 boxes in total as well as several pieces of furniture (98 items total). I had labeled each box with my name and were the box was going and had numbered each. Justin assured me that I would not incur any extra charges once my things arrived in Texas. On July 13, 2015, Morrison of Certified Relocations arrived with my things. He insisted that it would cost an additional $150 in cash to unload my items. I kept track of each item as it was brought into my house. Nearly every single piece of furniture was damaged and almost every box was falling apart. Additionally, I told the driver I was missing two boxes and he insisted I wasn’t (only 41 boxes arrived). I called Morrison shortly after he left to confirm that I was, in fact, missing 2 boxes and he ignored my calls and texts. I then called Corporate Van Lines' customer service line and spoke with Lee. At first Lee said that the items may still be at the warehouse. A few days went by, so I reached out again. He said they were still looking. In the meantime, I contacted Justin to see if he could help. He said he knew where our things had been stored and would check the warehouse. Justin did not follow up. More days went by without any word. The next time I spoke with Lee he said there had been a huge mix-up with several orders but my boxes were still missing. After a few more days, I spoke with Lee and asked if my missing boxes could have be stolen by employees and he implied that there is a strong possibility, due to the tempting nature of the items. It has been 4 months since we alerted the company that we are missing items and have not received feedback as to their whereabouts. The company has not been proactive in helping resolve this matter.
If you have hired this company in the last 4 months and received any boxes that are not yours, please contact me. missingboxespa2tx@gmail. If you are thinking about hiring this company DON'T!
Do not use Corporate Van Lines.
On 07/22/2015 I entered into a contract with Corporate Van Lines for moving services from Forest Hills, New York, to Coconut Creek, Florida. They provided one month free storage. When the one month free storage was over, I paid an additional month of storage. On 09/10/2015 I called Corporate Van Lines and advised that they could deliver as of 09/15/2015. They told me that it would take them 2-15 days to deliver from the first available date of 09/15/2015. After more than 25 calls to Corporate Van Lines, and emails to a representative by the name of Dalit B, at Dalit dalit@wantamover.com, I was told they the company did not have any trucks for my delivery and that they were working on getting my delivery done. Finally I received my delivery on 10/08/2015 and several boxes were missing, two Samsung TV's were missing, several of the boxes were opened, particularly one that was labeled "Computer". The PC had been taken and one of the monitors was also taken. Only 1 monitor was left from the two that were included in the box. I will file a police report for that. The contract also stipulated that 1 floor was included with the original quoted price. When the truck arrived he charged me an adidtional $150.00 for additional steps because only 15 steps were included in the contract and I had 17. I have tried to call the number on the website 800-949-1405 to speak to someone about my missing items and get information about filing a claim, but there is no response.
Stolen stuff/lied to.
Do not use these guys they are thief's.first I was told when truck was packed it would be the 26 foot truck making the delivery to N.C.When stuff was delivered was in a tractor trailer with 3 other peoples stuff it was to be color coded box stickers to fined out they put 2 colors the same on the truck. When going through my stuff a lot of stuff was missing 7 small boxes and a lot of other stuff and damage to furniture,it was like it was drag around instead of picking it up.I have called them and emailed numerous time's about my stuff they do not care or get back to you ,also I received someone else stuff and also called the company on that 3 weeks now trying to get the stuff returned to the right owner still now one call's back for this. Also when truck was being unpacked to fined out they do not even use the own people the driver hired 2 people from criegs list to unload for $12 an hour that was not what they told me it would be there own people not strangers.DO NOT USE THESE PEOPLE. Hope this helps some people moving.
Don't be fooled!
When I booked with Corporate Van Lines around March I found mostly positive reviews and now it's overwhelmingly negative (on other sites anyway). I definitely feel scammed. The person I booked with was so nice and assuring of the reputation and quality of this company. He didn't use the pushy sales tactics like the other companies I spoke with so I thought it was a respectable company but that's where the positive ends. There are no guarantees with them not even for what day they will come to pick up your belongings. We were expecting Saturday but they called Friday night stating that it would be Sunday instead. When the moving guys arrived, the man in charge did a quick walk through and stated that the square footage calculation on the original contract was wrong and he quickly calculated that the difference was about $800 more than originally quoted. We could have contested it but ended up not because it's intimidating that they have our belongings in their possession and we weren't sure if we would get any money back or end up paying more (and the thought of paying any more money was unimaginable). Also, when I booked with this company the person told me that the movers are paid well and there's no obligation to tip but then the movers did ask for tip and made us feel guilty for not, but because the price was so much more than we expected we really didn't have any money to give them. I was also assured when I booked that our belongings would arrive within a few days of the date we specified but that is a complete lie. Your belongings don't leave the facility until the date you specify so they can take anywhere from 3-21 days to deliver your belongings. Our belongings arrived trashed. Most of the furniture is damaged, our queen size box spring is missing, and most of the boxes are crushed or torn open. We almost inherited someone's keyboard but we informed them it wasn't ours (it even had a different colored sticker on it) so this shows you how careless they are to keep things separated and I'm sure that's exactly how our box spring was given to someone else. I have filed a claim and am waiting to hear back.
Thank you Corporate Van Lines.
I moved last week with Corporate Van Lines, now let me tell u when a company does absolutely everything they promise to do, and then does it with enthusiasm, professionalism, and matchless courtesy, use indelible ink to enter them in your business contact directory. Corporate Van Lines were so good, I'm thinking of moving just for the hell of it in order to have them back. Thank You Corporate Van Lines for educating me about the moving industry.. and thank you Corporate Van Lines for making my move day so easy.
Horrible experience with Corporate Vanlines.
Corporate Van Lines are scamster, They will speak to you so nicely to get the booking for the move, if there is a damage and you ask for claims for your damages they will refer you to a third party movingclaims.net to file your claims. In my case, I was schedule to move (same day pickup and delivery) on 6/20/2015 from NY to NJ which was around 70 miles. They Damaged all my furniture in the move. I had bought an expensive furniture just 6-8 months back and that was the reason I choose Corporate Van lines for moving my Furniture. They charged me for extra wrapping for my leather sofa, coffee table, TV etc that I had requested and they assured me that they will do a default blanket wrapping for the other.Forget the extra wrapping the movers didn't even do the default wrapping.when they delivered the goods they refused to move the furniture from the truck without first paying them the full amount, which I paid but when they moved the things I was shocked and horrified to see the damages that they had done to my furniture. My King bed was cracked and scratched at multiple places,My leather sofa had scratches,My study table was broken,My dresser had lot of scratches,My night stand was damaged completely etc.when I confronted them one of their employee said this damage was not caused by them instead it was already there, which was the last thing that I needed to hear at that time.I would suggest you stay away from them, I would have given them 0 stars but it seems I don't have that option.
My items were protected.
From the first contact made to Corporate Van Lines things could not have been any easier for my move. I was downsizing from a 3br to a 2br so I was nervous on how my purge would go. A coordinator scheduled a free walk through and the salesperson was full of tips on how to dispose/donate many of my belongings. I was able to afford a light packing option for the move and surprised how efficient the men were at packing my kitchen. My items were protected as if they were works of art (far from it) and set up exactly as I wanted in the new apartment. My neighbor is moving soon and I will definitely pass Corporate Van Lines info to them.
This team worked professionally.
I would definitely recommend this company! I had before 2 different companies to move but both of them damaged my furniture and even parquet. This time I had to bring my stuff from storage and I had a huge piano and worried that they might damage it but thank god, not! This team worked professionally, they came at exact time as I arranged even earlier and brought furniture on time with not even a small damage. Very punctual and super professional stuff! I`m so satisfied with this company. Thank you so much!
