  1. Luck-based moving guarantee

Understand that Fry Wagner does not care about your items once they get them on the truck. You might pay more for "insurance" but they will do everything to deny even the smallest or most obvious claim. They DO NOT pack fragile items in bubble wrap, stack items in boxes guaranteed to break them, misdirect items and create vague inventories that unsurprisingly cannot be used to hold them accountable. If your move goes well- great! You got LUCKY.

  2. Great Movers

These pros moved my son from St Louis to Houston in June 2021. Accurate bid. No surprises at the end. Excellent customer service, always available when I had questions. Followed up when the move was completed. Thanks to Travis and especially Diane. They do United Van Lines proud.

  3. Damaged items and refuse to fix.

100% unhappy, first off the movers who packed our items kept leaving things in rooms and we had to tell them they didn’t pack everything. Second, they packed items that should not be packed together such as outside patio furniture pillows with clean inside blankets..these were very obvious outside and inside things. They also packed a disgusting toilet scrubber and a linger in a dresser drawer.

And one of the biggest issues, they damaged 3 major things in our brand new home and now refuse to pay for these to be fixed.

  4. Unbelievable move!!

Fry-Wagner M&S just moved us from OFallon, MO to Sikeston, MO. The move was unbelievable! The crew was awesome, they were courteous, efficient & very professional. They took great precautions to make sure there was no damage to both of our homes and it worked, no damage! The crews handled all of our stuff whether good or junk with the same care. We will always use Fry-Wagner. They are #1!!

  5. Not happy with this move.

I've made 6 major interstate long distance moves with various companies and have never had so much damage to my furniture with such a short move! I chose Fry-Wagner because it's a national company with a recognized name. My mistake. It would have better to go with a smaller company with good reviews.

The guy who provided the estimate came to my home and looked at and recorded all I had, most of which was already boxed up and neatly organized, and he was about $600 lower than the final charge. He was also a week late in providing the in-home assessment. He told me on the phone he would call and come by the next week, but he came two weeks later, after I called to inquire why he hadn't called or come by the week before.

The movers arrived at the scheduled time. There were three of them for a small house and less than 6,000 lbs. Everything was boxed and ready to go. They were generally polite and seemed efficient, but I didn't see much of what happened outside.

An hour into the move, the lead guy asked if he could use my restroom. I said yes and he used my guest bathroom. I checked later to see if he'd flushed the toilet and he had not. I tried to flush it and it didn't flush so I asked him if he'd noticed the toilet didn't flush. He said he thought the water was turned off. I told him it was not and the toilet had flushed yesterday. After I brought this to his attention he went with me into the bathroom and lifted the tank lid to flush the toilet that way. Had I not checked, it would have remained unflushed at the time of my vacating the premises!

The movers drove to my destination city of Springfield, MO, an 85-90-mile drive. They supposedly took the truck to weigh it and also took their lunch break, but during the unpacking, which took about 2 hours, same as the loading, one of the workers asked to use my toilet. I don't know why they can't use the restroom on their breaks, rather than those of their customers.

I watched my belongings being wrapped and removed from my home before the move, and watched them being brought into my new home at my destination, but I saw little of the truck loading or unloading, which I think is where most of the damage must have occurred.

In addition to chipping the new paint on the walls in at least two places by placing bookcases right up against the wall at my new home, I discovered damage to my commercial 4-drawer filing cabinet that prior to this move had no scratches, dents, or other damage, and had been moved several times before.

They also crushed the back of my solid oak bookcase that had no prior damage and was moved a number of times before, and damaged one of my dining room chairs. They must have packed it into the truck in some way to totally displace the rungs on the chair, jamming an end of one rung, even bending a screw. I couldn't push the rungs back into place!

These movers were quick to unload, push the furniture up against walls and get me to sign there was no damage. The lead guy even had me sign there was no damage after I'd already seen the huge dent in my file cabinet. He didn't tell me what I was signing!

They only allow 10 days to file a claim, which is a third of the time allowed for every other move I've ever made in my life. That's not enough time to inspect everything and unpack when starting a new job and everything else that's involved in a move.

I also question whether these movers used clean, new boxes for my mattress and box springs, where these boxes were stored and whether the moving truck is routinely cleaned and sprayed with pesticides. I've had numerous bug bites after sleeping in my bed since I arrived in my new home.

  6. Cindy L.

I called a friend who recently moved and asked what mover she used. She said “Fry-Wagner.” I asked would she recommend them. She said “Most definitely.” So I called.
From the beginning I got great information and professional service.
Estimator came on site and estimated a four man crew, what size truck and estimated cost.
Service coordinator took over and called. She coordinated this move and made a couple after move checks.
The crew showed up, introduced themself, surveyed and got to work. They knew what they were doing. Very professional, worked as a team and very kind during a stressful day.
    Would I recommend “Fry-Wagner”?
    YES!

  7. This company is a great way to be unhappy without any reprise.

If the corporate offers you move with this company I would not do it, you're probably much better off renting trucks and moving stuff yourself, you will be so happy that way. Tell your corporate office that you want a budget and you will do it yourself if they won't agree, then move your stuff yourself, I would not use this company under any circumstances. If you have an expensive car then I would not absolutely under any circumstances let them touch your car. Your corporate and a bunch of moving sub-contractors are all covered from the legal standpoint the only person not covered is you the employee whose stuff they "move". If something goes wrong they WILL most likely threaten to send all the communication to your employer they will probably want you to shut up. And you will most likely have things to be mad at. First, its highly likely they will extort extra charge for delivery bc the only available window is of course exactly on a weekend when extra charge applies. Secondly, they might probably destroy some of your stuff as you are covered just cents per pound as for their liability, so basically, your stuff is worthless to them. Next, there is a big possibility the shipments will get split in multiple shipments leaving your home in disarray for a considerable period of time (think disassembled parts of furniture that cannot be used). Finally, there is a high probability they will lose some stuff (remember cents per pound?).

As a cherry on the top you will probably be powerless to do anything except to file a claim on the federal website:
    https://www.fmcsa.dot.gov/protect-your-move/file-a-complaint

Thats my knowledge / experience consider yourself warned.

  8. Damaged walls and door.

Some minor damage occurred to my walls and a door that I didn't notice until the next day. I notified them and they denied the claim immediately without even asking for photos, citing that I had signed a form on the day of delivery stating that there was no damage. Apparently a very small claim like this is serious enough to deny rather than, you know, accepting that my claim is in good faith and agreeing to right a wrong to ensure the customer is satisfied.

If you use this company, be sure to keep the crew waiting for an hour on delivery day while you inspect every square inch of your home.

  9. Never use these movers.

These mover are dishonest to say the least as well as poorly performing. They will break things and try to repair them without telling you. They will have you sign forms and not explain the form to absolve themselves from responsibility. When you call then will simply say sorry you signed the form, your claim will be denied. The drivers are apathetic and let the loaders and packers do all the work without any supervision.

  10. Extremely Disappointed!!

I would like to inform you that I am having real bad experience in dealing with Fry-Wagner Systems, Inc.

Initially I requested them to pick up my House Hold items sometime between July 12 – July 15 .

That request was made on July 11 so it would have given them at least 2-3 days to schedule the pickup. Still I got response from them stating they don’t anything available until 07/18 .

I did had the option to do everything on my own but as per advise from my company I somehow agree to have them pickup on 07/18.

Even after picking item from source on 07/18 , today is 08/02 (last day of their SLA for delivering items ), still I am not sure when my household items will be delivered (This is the case post 15 days of pickup).

I already made them aware that I am here living with a small kid (3 year old) and my parents are also staying with me. It’s extremely difficult to manage without any household items for 2 weeks.

I have already spent around 500 USD in buying stuff for my household since its becoming very difficult to manage without Household items for so long with a small kid and parents , only because Fry-Wagner Systems organization is not able to deliver the goods on expedited basis.

    EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED.

  11. Box of items disappeared.

Everything went well until delivery, when I discovered a missing box. There was no effort to trace the box and a settlement offer was insufficient to replace the missing items. The claims people are unconcerned and have extremely poor customer service skills.

  12. Late, Reeked of Marijuana, Broke Items.

The movers showed up an hour late reeking of marijuana. They took several long breaks above and beyond what was scheduled.

Even worse, they broke a dresser. Although I bought the insurance, my claim was denied - Robin Smith, my claims adjustor, said that because they didn't inspect the dresser prior to moving, I couldn't prove that they broke it.

NEVER EVER use this company - total scam.

  13. United Van LInes Fry Wagner.

This is a moving story with a good ending! Today is August 25, 2011 and unless there are any issues beyond today, this is the end of our move. This story started about two months ago when I began to research cross country moving companies.

Oh my, what a task that was. There are several websites out there where consumers can rate movers. Most of them say horrible things and I'd guess some, maybe even most, of it is warranted. I'd also guess, from some of the things I read, that some consumers hadn't done their homework so they weren't as prepared for what was to come as they could have been. This is a two-sided venture.

By the time I waded through all the horrible reviews, rude moving company representatives and uninformed national sales people, I was terrified to have anything moved across the street by anyone but us! I won't go into all the details, but I can say, keep track, in writing, of who you talk to and what they say.

The last website I came across was a US Department of Transportation service called Protect Your Move. It had much information and seemed much more objective than many of the reviews I had read online. This service helped me eliminate my top two choices at the time. They were rated near the very bottom of the list. Interestingly, even the company we ended up using had some negative info on this list, and some of the other lists I looked at.

This is when I began to understand that all these reviews and lists lump practically all moving companies into one category. Say that AXZ national van lines has 100 local affiliates. As I understand it, if one or two of those affiliates provides poor services, the entire national company could be rated badly.

Our move began in Southwest Missouri very near where we lived for many years. We were familiar with the area and we knew that most businesses in the area operated very professionally. Fry Wagner, a branch of United Van Lines, was a name we knew. We'd seen their trucks for years when we lived in the area. After a phone call or two with the national sales office, Tom Tristan from the local office contacted us. I had many, many phone calls with Tom who answered all my questions on my three page list of questions. Finally, we decided to go with Fry Wagner of United Van Lines for our fairly small move of about 2100 pounds.

I'd like to mention at this point that there was one other national company in the running. The national sales person was a gem and if we could have worked with him, they would have gotten our move. Unfortunately, the local person was either very new or simply inept, so they lost the job.

Cathy, with the Fry Wagner office coordinated our move and except for a minor miscommunication about an item that required crating, everything went smoothly. She also answered lots of questions. To make matters more complicated, we couldn't be at the pick up location, we had a friend do that. We could only be on the delivery end which required lots more conversations and questions.

On a prior visit, we had taped some things closed. We removed loose pieces. We took pictures of all the pieces of furniture. We packed all the boxes, with lots of padding. We numbered all the boxes. We took pictures of all the boxes. We had our name on everything. We knew what we had and we knew what shape it was in.

Most of these things were antiques and one piece was fragile enough that it needed to have a crate built for it so it could withstand the move. Fry Wagner arranged for the item to be crated, and un-crated.

Once we committed to them, everything went quickly. Once they picked up our items we had them in less than a week. D.J. the driver called in advance, worked with me to choose a delivery time and got here when he said he would. Mike and Ben came with D.J. and helped to unload the truck. The furniture was well wrapped and handled with care. It was put where we wanted, with care. D.J., Mike and Ben were courteous, helpful, caring and very professional as they unloaded our belongings and brought them out of the hot sun into our storage unit.

Jim had been the man who created the crate and supervised packing that item. Josh, and his helper showed up, as expected, to uncrate the item. They uncrated it, we inspected it, they re-crated it for us. All went well and they were on their way.

We are relieved. I had read one too many horror stories. I didn't want to believe them all but there were so many! Some of them had to be correct. Fry Wagner, the local affiliate of United Van Lines has done a wonderful job and I would recommend them to anyone.

By the way, the price upon delivery was exactly what we were told it would be, which is good because that was another thing moving companies had been trashed about. United Van Lines was not the least expensive company we talked to, and they were definitely not the most expensive. There was a spread of about $4,000. from the least to the most expensive company, so it literally pays to call around.

Thanks to all of you at Fry Wagner United Van Lines for your professional attitude and work. We appreciate you.
