  1. Move from Texas to Alabama

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY like My husband made the mistake of calling alliance the talked him in to going with them. Then this Giovanni van lines showed up was supposed to be there at 8 am did not show up till 445 that should have been a wake up alarm. This Giovanni is the biggest scammer just I rephrase puts a knew meaning to scam. We paid 10000.00 and that was all we had to pay according to Alliance then Giovanni showed up and cornered my husband and told him that it would be another 16000.00 he assured him that everything would fit in the truck and he had already started loading it before the price changed. Short story my husband is a disable vet 78 years old he saw that he had memory issues and took at vantage of him. Then as time went buy he only took half of the stuff he left behind half of boxes and outside stuff the truck had so much room in it but the way he loaded it I was full you could see all the way to the front of the truck then charged him more total 30000.00. Then he told me the truck would be there in 5 days so I got on the road to make sure I was there before the stuff got there. They picked upon October 19 and I had to call several times and text constantly where’s my stuff. After his unprofessional name calling and cursing and storytelling my stuff got there on November 3. On deliver day all of my stuff did not arrive I was missing family heirlooms and all the boxes that he taped had been gone thru with probably 30,000.00 missing items they also damaged or broke every piece of furniture things they dismantled never received the parts to put the things like table, armoire. Broke tv lost cords to tvs lost shelves and broke glass in China cabinet so scammers absolutely I could have purchased all new items and had money left over but the family heirlooms I will never see again. DO NOT USE ALLIANCE and DO NOT USE GIOVANNI VAN LINES. TOTAL SCAM!!!!! They say everything is insured and they are bonded another lie they might pay 60 cent a pound. But family heirlooms I will never see. Just makes you sick to your stomach then when you text him he just berates and belittles you what a scum. All my stuff fit in a 2 bedroom apartment easy still lots of room 984 square feet total.

  3. Move from TX to AZ.

If you are smart and looking for honest and someone who is NOT deceitful DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. I scheduled my move with a large well known company, who I will not mention here, but they are also liars and deceitful. If you are a senior, single, female definitely do not use this company. I was not aware that I was going to be scheduled with 2 different movers when I signed on for my move. My total charge went from $2118 to $4097. I was not prepared nor did I have $2000 extra. I also had to pay for the entire move up front, something I never had to do before. They had my money and my furniture..not to say my respect. I went with this move because it was $600 cheaper than my 3 previous quotes, or so I thought until they scammed me. The extra charge for the move was what I had saved for new furniture etc., including putting food in my pantry. I didn't move large pieces of furniture from TX as to save on the charge of moving..so much for that. I don't know what to say other than DO NOT use this company and be sure to ask your initial scheduled company if they use a second company to move you. I could not get out of this because I would have lost my deposit. I moved to and from AZ three times and the highest charge was $2700. I guess I should have taken one of them, but like all people who are on a strict budget, I choose the one who was cheaper. I will say that the first company that I started with is a large well known mover. I have tried to reach out to them but they have no intention of admitting their deceit. I wish I would have read these reviews before hand. Of course I didn't know until Mr. Giovanni showed up that a second company had their hand in my wallet.
When I initially told the first company what I was moving, one of the items was my bed. When I got the call to confirm what was being moved and when Mr. Giovanni arrived I was told that the charge was for only a mattress and box spring and that I was suppose to 'cover' them. I was charged extra for the headboard and footboard and for them to cover the mattress and boxspring. When I talked to #1mover I told them I wanted them to take care of covering/boxing all furniture and I would pack my own boxes. Who in their right mind considers a bed to not have a headboard and footboard. My move was all downhill from there.
From now on I'll use a UHaul when I move.

  4. Horrible.

DO NOT! DO NOT! DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!! My parents went through a company to move their belongings 15 hours away and the big company reached out to Giovanni Van Lines. Long story short they tried to say that my parents owed him $6,000 more dollars than what was originally discussed when this was booked. My parents refused to pay him anymore money and they wanted their things off of the truck because they had enough. Giovanni decided to try and take off with a truck full of furniture. My parents blocked him in and called the police. Since this is a civil thing the police couldn't solve the problem and told him he had to let them get their belongings off. He was then arrested and taken to a hotel and the truck was brought back to him by one of the workers who then helped my parents move. The simple fact that one of the workers said that Giovanni was trying to get over on my parents is so crooked!! I would never recommend this service. I would tell anybody to rent u-haul trucks and hire some men to do the job like my parents did after this fiasco took place.

  5. Our move.

Terrible! Changed my move from pounds to cubic feet charging 3000 more than originally quoted. And yes, they tried to pull that nonsense that they had to charge more for packing materials. My entire move costed me over 13000 dollars and my pounds were way under what was estimated.

  6. March 7th 2018.

We moved TX to CA. Giovanni instantly changed price from $1800 to $2500 explaining about packing material and stairs, Cubic feet [this is by just looking at the items and not after loading]
Being with family and out of choice due to my planned travel dates, I agreed and they started loading; though out the process, had been NICE guy explaining how they take care of customers and their belongings. Get the delivery but EVERYTHING in very bad condition.
ALL cardboard boxes mostly kitchen utensils were no more boxes all glass utensils were broken, metal utensils were damaged, everything is damaged. When delivery time Giovanni said he has to use shuttle to get boxes and charged $400 more.
Overall, I'll NOT recommend them to anyone and had been informing all my friends to stay away from Giovanni.

  7. Great Company.

I moved my son from Bryan Tx to Washington State. Giovanni kept me updated and reassured throughout the process. He was friendly and and easy to contact with any questions I had. He was honest with me and they did a wonderful job with packing and handling my sons belongings. They arrived ahead of schedule and the movers were very professional, super friendly and very careful when handling my sons belongings. I love this company and would use them again in a heartbeat.

  8. Do Not Use This Company.

Do yourself a favor and stay way from Giovanni Van lines.

I made my reservation with a broker and Giovanni came for pick up on 25-May-2017, as scheduled.
Mike from Giovanni instantly changed price from $1800 to $2560 explaining about packing material [cost shown $200] and stairs, Cubic feet [this is by just looking at the items and not after loading]
Being with family and out of choice due to my planned travel dates, I agreed and they started loading; though out the process, Mike had been NICE guy explaining how they take care of customers and their belongings.
After moving to Hartford, I called Mike and informed on 5-June-2017 that I have an address for delivery now and he should plan for delivery; he was still nice and mentioned that technically they have 21 business days but he'll try to get it ASAP and this being season time they are really busy.
I called back after a week on 12-June-2017 asking if Giovanni has date for me, but got same reply that it is season time and they are busy, technically they have 21 days, ..
I called back on 19-June-2017 and same story repeated but this time NICE guy went rude and said I don't understand his business, and they'll deliver when they can which will be no later then 21 business days from the date I confirmed delivery address, and that is 3-July-2017.
So far I was living in hotel and this was going out-of-control for me so I called the broker company and they followed-up with Giovanni but got same answer.
Between 19-Jun to 27-June, I called broker every alternate day asking for delivery date and they had same answer, so I told on 27-June that if you plan to do a delivery during 4-July holiday, inform me at least a day or two before so that I don't go out of the city, they agreed and confirmed with Giovanni and got reply that I'll be informed while truck is loading from storage.
As I didn't get any call till afternoon of 1-July-2017, I went for vacation to NY-NJ.
On 3-July evening around 5 PM I got a call from a driver [said he was in Bronx, NY] who said he is coming to deliver on 4-July and confirming address with me. I explained I was not aware of his arrival and best I can do is be back by evening 5 PM on 4-July but he said he can't wait and will keep everything in near-by storage.
As I had no choice, I said OK to him and waited for next day to make calls to broker who reached out to Giovanni and assured I'll get a delivery soon.
Now back from my vacation, I got a call from storage person on 5-July-2017 and he demanded additional $250 for re-delivery charges.
I explained that this will be first delivery and not a delivery but he didn't budge, so I called the broker again who assured he'll work it out.
6-July and still no updates on delivery.
Giovanni calls me on 7-July and asks me to pay up the re-delivery and meanwhile he'll check if the same can be reimbursed to me partially.
7-July I get call from broker and he asks me to call storage and schedule a delivery and make them contact my broker for re-delivery charges so that he can get it adjusted.
8-July-2017, I finally get the delivery but EVERYTHING in very bad condition.
ALL cardboard boxes [mostly kitchen utensils, spices] were no more boxes but more like round water-soaked card-board which dried over-time; all glass utensils were broken, metal utensils were damaged, spices were all moist and of no use any more.
ALL suitcases with cloths/shoes were still wet and stinky; some suitcases had new cloths which we purchased before moving but now all were stinking and wet.
Sofa, love-seat, Queen-sized box-spring and mattress were still stinky, & wet even though these were wrapped in black-plastic covers by Giovanni
Computer chair lost it's wheel, sound-bar & TV box were wet too.
One card-board box was open and one inside that was missing.
I shared pictures with broker and he patched me to Giovanni who asked me to file a claim to movingclaims and that is still on-going.

Overall, I'll NOT recommend them to anyone and had been informing all my friends to stay away from Giovanni.

  9. Long Distance Move.

    DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!
Short and dirty is this is not the first moving company I've used, but will be the first I do not recommend using. Completely unprofessional , show minimal respect for your belongings and will do their best to up charge you after they have your deposit and stuff in the truck. PLUS getting a straight answer from them is near impossible. Additionally, there is something disreputable about the owner of this company that made me very uncomfortable. Details of my experience, see below.

3/22: made reservation with broker. they were to pick up on 4/8 or 4/9. Estimated delivery 3-5 days since it was only a 352 mile move. And an estimate of 3 payments of $870 (deposit, pick up and delivery)
4/6: Giovanni Van Lines (GVL) calls to see if they could pick up a day early because they'd be in my state. I figured sooner pick up means sooner delivery, so I rearranged my schedule.
4/7: They get there and are nice but they left boxes, plastic wrap and empty tape cartons all over my house. I asked them to leave a TV mount on the wall, they took it off (ripping out sheet rock anchors in the process) and didn't replace it. They also knocked stuff down in the garage and left on the ground. They left the water on after disconnecting my washer. They charged $700 for packaging (for blankets, tape and plastic wrap around furniture). But never asked if those added charges were ok. They tried to tell me it'd be an additional $1600 total and had me give them a $2000 check for pick up! After they left they were to call with weight of the truck to finalize my estimate. They called with weight then told me they'd call in 30 minutes with a final cost. They never called back.
4/10: I called to verify cost and there's no answer. I called the broker and told them what was going on. They called Giovanni and he said that they had tried to schedule something with me and I had said I wasn't available, but they'd never called me. He said he'd deliver on 4/14 give or take a day. And that he'd give me 50% back on the $300 he charged on packaging (he'd actually charged $700). He says he's out of the country but delivery will be one of those 3 days.
4/14 afternoon: Still hadn't heard from GVL. Call them and get hung up on. Call again and the line goes to a full voice mailbox. Then, I call the broker to let them know I still haven't heard anything. They called and he answered. He says he's in Germany, but he'll call me on 4/17.
4/17: No call from Giovanni. Broker calls. He answers and says he's in Israel and will be back on evening of 4/20 and will call.
4/21: Sill no call from GVL. Broker calls and Giovanni tells them he's making the schedule the next day.
4/22: Broker calls Giovanni multiple times, and no answer and no call back.
4/24: I inform Broker I’m reporting everything stolen and finally Giovanni calls with out looking at any paperwork. Says he's a religious company so they took week of Passover off. I tell him that's fine, then he shouldn't have booked move. Plus I had called him 2 days BEFORE PASSOVER. And he didn't call back until 1 week after the end of Passover week! He says he planned on them moving my stuff the day of pick up to destination. I inform him that was never offered to me. PLUS original move was supposed to be started on weekend before Passover!! Why didn't he ask me if they could deliver same day when they called to change the pick up day ahead?? Asks how much I owe him, I tell him none, he owes me. He then says he'll send company check of $300 for "troubles". I ask him how much my bill was supposed to be because I am pretty sure he owes me more just from over charges at pick up. He says he'll call back before 2pm and they'll deliver on 4/27 or 4/28. I inform him that contract says 4/27 is latest date. He then says it'll def be there by then. Then, has the audacity to say, he's had a long, hard week!!
I called the broker to tell him what's going on. He says, he'll call Gio. GIovanni tells him I will owe nothing at drop off and that he will have a company check of $300 for me.
4/27: I hear from driver that they will deliver tomorrow. He says I owe $383. 26 and I need to have money order. I tell him I was told I don't owe anything. He says ok.
4/28: Driver shows up and says that they'll add a $200 discount and I'll owe $183.26, then they'll "send me a $200 check." Yea, right.. I say no and call broker. Broker calls Giovanni, who says he's, once again, out of the country, but that I can just write a personal check for $83.26. At this point, I'm SO fed up. I say fine. Then, the driver calls to confirm with company (completely understandable) . Company knows nothing about this deal and says I need cash or money order. So, I have to drive to bank to get cash, while moving people wait outside my house. Then I had boxes marked "fragile" not handled with care, broken knobs on a vanity that was my great grandmothers and they left a pile of trash outside my house.
