  1. Negligence.

    Gold Star moving is very inexpensive because they don't provide enough workers to complete the job. The workers are not professional and don't handle the items with care. They broke stereo speakers a turntable, crystal glasses and rolled a bespoke table down the street so they wouldn't have to pick it up destroying the wood $5,000.00 damage after there attempt at repair the table is a total loss. They offered $300.00 compensation.

  2. Bad service, Over charges, Not fulfill commitment and Damaged goods..!

    Interstate move from New Jersey to Texas
    They are fraudsters ..!! All are liars….!!First they delayed a lot and giving me all wrong information for delivery. While booking for Moving the goods, they told me that the charges are included 2nd floor. I have all in email but still charged me $225.00. Also damaged my goods - Furniture and house hold items. Further they misplaced my boxes and delivered other's boxes to me. They agreed to assemble the furniture at Delivery. The Delivery guys dump all furniture and went. He said talk to Moving company and Gold start is not picking up my phone. While booking had a word with Mike 1, Mike2, Haidi, Tom, Alex but all are liars.

  3. Decent experience.

    To be honest I was not thinking to write a review, only because I didn't have any serious complaints. However my Moving consultant/sales rep asked me to please write a review, so that people can understand that this company actually does have the potential to do a great job. Mostly people who aren't satisfied write reviews, and it's only fair I let you guys know my experience. I was quoted a bit over $1400 for 500 cubic feet, and my rep Kyle was so polite, patient and professional. She made sure that we went through every piece of furniture in detail, because she said she wanted to make sure pricing was accurate. Anyways, on the day of my move I received a phone call from the driver when he was about 30 minutes away, and though they were about 15 minutes late they were professional and did a very good job wrapping and loading my belongings. I was only charged an additional $75 for stair fee, but that was it. I received my things in 6 days after they picked them up, and everything was in tact. Like I stated no serious complaints. Only thing Trey need to improve in is the timing, and that was minor. I would recommend them for sure. I would personally recommend their employee Kyle, only because she was my personal rep.

  4. Do Not Use!

    I'm sorry that I am only posting my review now; perhaps some other people would have been saved the trouble of dealing with this horrible company. When I was looking to move interstate, about a year ago, I could not find any reviews online, but I booked with them, as I had a serious time crunch. The man I spoke with over the phone was nice, and he gave me a quote based on the possessions I listed - and I really went through everything! I was told the quote was not guaranteed, but, in his words, "it shouldn't change much unless we show up and find you have a piano you didn't mention."
    On moving day, we waited until the movers showed up, past their due arrival time. Four men took the entire day to load the truck, complaining the entire time about how much stuff we had (we were in an apartment, by the way!) Once my things were mostly loaded, the main mover called me outside and told me that the price would be much more than the $4000 quoted, because we had more stuff than expected (we did not have extra stuff). He offered to charge us a smaller amount more on paper, if we slipped some cash into his pocket, unrecorded. When I refused, the angry man told us it would be $8000, double the price quoted, or they would unload onto the lawn. Because my stuff was already loaded, I needed to move, and this man was much larger than me, I was forced to sign.
    Because my new house was not going to be ready for a week, we had arranged free storage with the movers until we were ready for delivery. During the next week, we tried to contact the managers about this ridiculous price. While we first got sympathy from one manager, we were not able to reach her after that first conversation. The managers WILL NOT speak with you, and you will spend hours running around on the phone. We tried to contact the attorney general, and to have lawyers contact the company, but the movers would not budge. We eventually agreed to pay the full amount, because they were holding all our belongings hostage, we have three young children, and suing would take too much time and money.
    When we called to have our things delivered, it took a long time before we could get a confirmation of when they would come. We repeatedly said we would not be available on Friday or Saturday for delivery. Of course, they called late Thursday to let us know the delivery would be the next morning. The movers showed up late, and when we were not longer available (as we knew we had limited time on Friday), we had to shoo away the movers, and assemble the rest of the furniture ourselves.
    Overall, this is a horrible company to deal with. We were scammed out of extra money, we had to wait for delivery, and they were not careful with our belongings, putting "Fragile"-marked boxes at the bottom of the stack. You cannot speak to anyone on the phone, as it seems that there is some outsourcing going on here, and anyone who can help will not come to the phone. I believe "Golden Star Moving" may be a newer company, to avoid older poor reviews, because their license number is listed with a different name. Save your money, and a lot of aggravation, and do not hire these movers!

  5. Terrible Experience.

    I strongly recommend not booking a move through Golden Star Moving Company! Although I generally prefer not to post bad reviews for any business, I feel compelled to briefly share my absolutely awful experience with Golden Star in hopes that others can avoid having a similar experience. At the time I booked my interstate move, I was repeatedly assured that my belongings would be delivered within 5 days of pickup notwithstanding the fact that the standard quote provides Golden Star with additional time. However, despite calling multiple times per day after the 5th day, my belongings did not arrive until 16 days after pickup! Worse yet, throughout this 16 day period, Golden Star refused to provide me with a firm delivery date until approximately 1 hour before my items arrived.

    Further, when I would call to ascertain the location of my belongings and when they would actually arrive, I was repeatedly advised that the items were “on their way” or given other information that I believe was untruthful. When I would ask to speak with the manager, she quickly began refusing to accept or return my calls. On other occasions, I was put on hold for extended period of times (up to 20 minutes). Collectively, I would estimate that I spent hours simply trying to find out where my belongings were and when they were going to be delivered. Because I could not obtain any reliable information during this 16 day period, I was often left wondering whether my items had been lost/destroyed and consequently, whether they would ever actually arrive.

    Also, because the insurance policy only provides for 6 cents per pound for damage, I was forced to rent “crates” for specific items that were precious to me. Although I was billed an additional $330 for these “crates,” I never saw any such crates when the items finally did arrive. Of course, multiple items were damaged during the move. While the stress of an interstate move is already significant, Golden Star made my move significantly more stressful through what I believe to be false promises, rude behavior, and atrocious customer service. In closing, I strongly recommend against booking a move through Golden Star and encourage others to share any similar experiences they’ve had with this company.

  6. Lateness of delivery & estimate being doubled.

    The packers packed everything carefully but when our belongings were transferred to a different, bigger truck many of my lucite storage tubs were crushed and a wheel of our gas BBQ grill was broken off plus delivery was 5 days later than the company told us it would be.

  7. Hostage load.

    Two days ago I wrote review about this movers. I have an update. They are keeping my stuff as hostage until I pay the extra $300. Just 15 hours before the delivery they found out that their truck would not fit into my apartment road. So they need to rent a smaller truck, so they have to charge me $300 more for that. At first I denied to pay that extra cost, later I agreed to pay and asked them to bill it to me. But the company said I have to pay during the delivery along with the balance $588 in cash. I thought this is a scam so I told them I will not pay this extra money during the delivery, they should bill it to me. Now they are holding my stuff as hostage. I guess my stuff is already here in Birmingham and they are going to ask me the storage cost as well. Such a bad business.

  8. Pleasant Experience.

    I scheduled a move with Golden Star out of Brooklyn on short notice. They were able to accomodate my pick up date and even though it was not a large move they still delivered in a reasonable time frame. I have moved several times in the past and I have had some good and bad experiences. I would definitely recommend Golden Star to my friends and family.
