  1. Worst Movers in my Military Career.

    This was a local House hold Goods (HHG) move DoD Contract. The movers showed up around 10:00am on day 1 as the company told me the day before, Everything after that was a disaster, They damage the townhome walls, door and floors. They did not care at all for our belongings, most of the room furniture got damage by them either droping it or hitting thge walls with it. The mover were disrespectful with me and my wife, as this was happening we contacted the company and they told us that there was nothing they can do to help just to take pictures and make a claim. The mover started to get mad if we take pictures of the damages and at one point they were acting very aggresive. The Ft Meade property office quality inspectors arrived noticed that they were using used boxes for everything to include mattresses and clothing and told them that they can't do that. The movers said that they were not using the used boxes and hide the ones they already pack. Then they tried to use Shrink wrap to cover the mattresses, at that point I went and purchased Mattress Bags out of pocket to try to protect my mattresses at least from getting dirty. The and report is not complete but the initial clame has a broken flat screen 65" 3D TV a king size matress and most of the office furniture and master bedroom and my son furniture. I am still waiting for the claim to be paid but for my bad luck the claim service they used one with the worst ratings Triology Claims (tryologyclaims.com) The first communication with them was already bad the lady was already trying to tell me that my tv may have cost so much but that she can replace it now for like a 1/4 of the original price for the same size TV. (I know she can't because the TV was a Samsung 3D that samsung does not make and people still selling it used for 3799.00 in amazon.) but let see what we happened the company that inspected the property said that everything need to be replaced so let see what happens now. the day after the move I had a voicemail from one of the owners and he was aplogising for the service and that he was going to do right by us and take care of the damages, he also said he was going to be personally involved in the process. To be honest I see him involve in the emails but the moment I called about the TV his answer was more like give a chance to the claim company they know what they do and they are there to protect him from people that are trying to basically scam him for money. I am not like that I just want him to pay for what they broke I really want them to pay like the government policy says full replacement cost and if the tv is no longer made or a newer tv with all the features to include 3D then they need to pay the full replacement cost in this case $3700 and the $3000 for the mattress that is all I am saying. If they had taken care of my stuff they wouldn't have to pay anything but they didn't and we are not including other items because we did not care about.

  2. Guardian Moving and Storage in the DMV (Maryland) area.

    Do not do business with this company. If I could include photos with this review of the damages that were caused by the movers I would. I was told the movers would arrive between 830am - 1000 am, but didn't arrive until after 3pm. The movers were very careless with my items. They broke my dresser into pieces, dropped a box of shoes and containers off of truck, ruined my bed frame by dragging outside and did not properly wrap my mattress before placing it on the truck. After arriving to my new residence my mattress was left bare on the truck with no protection over it. Instead the movers used 2 dirty blankets to cover it. However the blankets fell off and now I have stains all over my mattress. Luckily I took pictures of everything before they moved my household goods to file my claim. I still have yet to hear back from Guardian regarding my claim. If I can save anyone the headache by not doing business with this company..DONT!

  3. Terrible company.

    This is by far the worst company to have to move your household goods.  Do not use them!!  After we got our first quote we asked for a second since we sold some of our items. In the first quote we were given a $150 discount as a returning customer.  But, in the second quote they took off the Discount.  After many phone calls and emails we were finally told that since we lowered our inventory of products to be shipped they would not honor the $150 discount.  After complaining about this Sarah sent me a new quote.  This had the $150 back in there IF I promised not to write any bad reviews about the comany. Is that bribary or what?? We told them to keep their money. I wanted to make sure other people did not have to go through a terrible experince. Guardian is terrble about returning phone calls and emails.  I do not know how they keep Chris Brown on their payroll.  He is non existent after he gets your deposit. The movers were suppose to come in the morning to start packing our products.  Chris promised this would happen (Hawaii movers said he cannot make those promises). I recieved a call from movers saying they would be Late.  They arrived at 5:30pm and told us that we were the last house on their list.  No one told them, they said, that we were suppose to be moved early in the AM. It was after !0;30pm when they finally had everything packed. We still had to stay and clean our house for an early morning inspection. We now have damaged goods but Guardian does not deal directly with that. We now have to go through another agency that processes it for Guardian!!

  4. Crooks.

    We are still finding damaged goods.  They broke all the serving pieces for my china, broke my Jeff Change vase, my bird of paradise etched wine glasses, Christmas decorations, every single lamp was damaged, all our clothes had to be washed or reironed in order to be wearable.  They denied our claim for our broken stereo receiver, calling it a portable stereo, stating that the pictures weren't good enough-the knobs were bent the connections were cracked and even the casing was cracked, but they didn't offer to let us take better pictures.  We are heartbroken.  Why were we not told prior to pick up that we should take our clothes off the hangers and fold them? They just threw everything in boxes and packed them down.  The Navy arranged my two previous moves and wardrobe meant our clothes where hung from a post in the box and arrived at their destination in fine condition.  They lost our sofa and a chest of drawers for two months, only to return them to us totally trashed.  I've never be treated so poorly by a bussiness in my life, and I feel so stupid for just trusting them.  It was a last minute move and I didn't do the proper research.  I hope that if you are looking for a moving company that you look further than the BBB, as I guess we disgruntled customers are too busy or too heart sick to pursue this any further with the BBB.  Note that all our moves resulted in some damaged goods, but the companies always gave us compensation.  I don't think anyone will get suitable compensation from Guardian CA.

    I am a rep from Guardian Moving and Storage in Baltimore, Maryland to clear our name. We are not joined nor do business with the Guardian in California. We only do Pack and Pickups in the DMV area. We do not do any Commercial, individual or residential moving or storing at all, we only do DOD and Gov Contracting for Military personell.   6. My Moving Experience.

    Do not use Guardian Moving and Storage.  They are dishonest and disorganized.  My experience was a nightmare.  First of all, they did not come out to estimate the quantity of my items.  I had to call them in to Chris Brown.  I made sure that I called him every time I added something in order to avoid the "premium" charges if I had more to ship than I had arranged for in advance. In spite of this, when the movers arrived the first thing they did was inform me that I had twice as many items as I had called in.  Not possible!  I threw a fit with the driver and then called the office and yelled at them so they agreed to "only" charge me 50 cents more than the prearranged rate. I had asked Chris when I needed to have my things picked up in order for them to be in Maui when I was going to be there. I explained that I only had a two week window.   He determined the day and promised me that my things would be delivered on time.   When I arrived in Maui I called Guardian only to have them inform me that my things were still in Los Angeles!  They made some more promises that they would try to get my things to me before I had to leave Maui but it didn't happen. My things arrived in Maui 2 months after they picked them up!  I had to arrange for my friend to be there when they delivered and then the delivery people mostly just dumped off my boxes in the garage and argued with my friend about placing the largest items where they belonged.  When I arrived in Maui (again) I discovered that they had damaged a couple of pieces of furniture and a few things were broken inside the boxes. This was not a good experience in any way.  Do not use these people.  Do not believe Chris Brown.  .

  7. Guardian Moving and Shipping is terrible!

    Initial contact was Chris Brown, Salesman.  After confusion about the pickup of my items in Hawaii,  some of it my fault, I needed to have items held in storage in Los Angeles, until I could determine a delivery date in Florida.  I travel, and wasn't certain when I could be in Florida.  Chris promised that I would be called to confirm the final delivery.  My LTL items did not arrive in LA as promised,  and no one could tell me when the container was going to be in LA.  I ended up staying 2 weeks later in Calif just waiting.  Then I had a job to go to in CT.    I got a call from dispatch who was loading my stuff on the truck, while I was sitting in an airport waiting to board a plane.    Unbelieveable.   I could not do a thing about it.  I wanted my stuff to stay in storage in LA, which I was willing to pay for, until I knew when I could be in Florida.  And, they could not tell me WHEN the truck was going to be in Florida even as it left LA.  The left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing in that organization.  Very disorganized.  Thank you Matson for having their act together.  There is a lack of communication between sales adn everyone else it seems. After this whole event unfolded, I figured out that it started with Chris, who promised me anything.   The dispatch people were trying get information to me, but they couldn't, and they were trying to load their moving truck, with no information from Chris, and the moving truck driver was trying to deliver my stuff.  I packed my boxes myself, and there was one crushed $7 wall map from Costco.  What prompted me to write this review was today I received an email from Guardian today acknowledging receipt of my credit card for payment.  Guess what!?  It was not my credit card and drivers license copy!  It was someone else's!  How sloppy and dangerous!!  I contacted the guy right away and deleted the email.  I would not use Guardian again, ever.  Very very unprofessional and sloppy, and in the end the sales guy could have cared less.  Unfortunately, there aren't alot of choices for shipping LTL from Hawaii, and Guardian was the cheapest.  Everyone else was twice the price. .

  8. Worst moving expereince in 15yrs!

    Worst moving company ever. Initially said they would do my move for 8k. Showed up and said we can only do it or 18k now! Told them to leave. Called me back and said they would do it for 13.5k. Had to do it, I am in the military and was leaving in a week. Said they were going to crate my motorcycles, and they didn't. Damaged both including about 1k damage to one which they offered me $66 to fix when I filed my claim. Stuff arrived late, they kept saying the truck was breaking down. When the driver called me he said I had to wait so he could go and find workers because he was by himself. Numerous things broke, lots of furntiure broke, my dining room table didn't even show up! I filed a claim for around 2k, they came back and said they would only pay $267!! Save yourself the major headache and use somebody else!!

  9. HORRIBLE moving company.

    HORRIBLE shipping company. If I could have given them 0 stars I would have. We just moved from Honolulu to Denver and Guardian Moving and Storage made this our worst move ever.

    Over Half of our big ticket items were broken upon arrival. TV stand was broken, Bedframe snapped in half, Solid wood table tossed around and dinged all over. Broken chairs, broken desk, broken solid wood chest.. the list goes on and on. Lots of our stuff was just thrown into boxes including glassware. If we didn't watch them pack it, it was packed HORRIBLY.

    Monkey's could have moved us better. Not joking.

    They make you use some bogus 3rd party insurance company and now we have to deal with them for making claims. What a joke.

    This has got to be by far the worst moving company in the US.

  10. Worst Movers Ever!

    This is the worst moving company ever. First of all we were quoted at 4000 after listing all items and their dimensions that we had intended to ship. When the movers came which was about 2 weeks after they said they would come, we left some of the bigger items behind such as a grill and furniture to cut cost. After all the boxes were packed and loaded on the truck we were shocked to find the total over 6000 dollars.
    Then while we we’re coordinating the move with guardian it was explained that we needed a separate invoice for all our tools since we would be getting reimbursed for the expense. And It was promised to us. At the time of the move the movers wrote down on a paper the estimated cost of the tools. However it was misplaced. When we called the company for the receipt they gave us a very hard time. Every time we called we were promised that it would be looked into and that we can expect a call in a few days. They would never call back and at one time they told us that they were too busy with other moves to help us. It took over one month to have receipt sent and it was for LESS than then the original written cost.
    After our estimated delivery date past we called and were told that the items would be ready for delivery in 2 weeks, this happened twice. Then when we were called to schedule a delivery date the man I spoke with was so rude. I asked to call him back so I could speak with my husband to confirm a good day but he insisted and even yelled at me what day he wanted to deliver our items.
    When our items finally arrived we were appalled at the condition of everything. The boxes were smashed and ripped. Our metal filing cabinet and tool chest were badly dented and rendered useless. Even worse after unpacking all our items it is apparent that many valuable items have been stolen! Items that were specifically placed in zipped bags were gone but the bags remained. Some items were delivered to the wrong house and whole boxes have been lost. When we called to complain the staff didn’t seem to be alarmed at all to hear that items were missing and stolen. We were told that they would do their best to locate the missing items and that they would call us back which they never did!
    DO NOT USE THIS MOVING COMPANY!

  11. Read before booking this company.

    Guardian Movers, is the WORST!! company I have ever delt with. If you are reading this and considering using this company. PLEASE DON't!! The customer service is the WORSE!! and they don't know anything or just make things up. The only thing that was professional about this company is the moving guys. Both at pick up and delivery. Everything else is a bunch of BS! Not to mention all my boxes,containers were soo damaged like they got tossed around like a soccer. & Moved into our new house thinking a delivery would be the day they said. But didn't get my shipment for a whole MONTH!! So "lucky" for us we were in a empty fricken house! I just can go on and on about this company. Please please do not use this company. If I would of read the reviews before moving I would have not booked them. We def learned our lessson. Hope you research good before you book any company. As I read there's alot of moving company's like Guardian Movers.

  12. Nicole's Update.

    - Sarah, at phone number: XXX-XXX-0422 is complete garbage!! When I called she gave me an entire conversation based on maybe's, might's, and if's. How hard is it for someone to contact the personnel handling my household goods to find out when they will load it on the truck and when it will reach its destination?
    - I told Sarah to call me when my stuff was getting loaded on the truck. She did not. Sarah said that she would contact me at the end of the day. She did not.
    - When I called just now, I demanded to speak to a manager. The dispatch did not patch me through. She said ALL managers were busy. She later went on to solve my situation. With this new conversation, the only new information I received was that my belongings are going to be loaded on a truck, either, this afternoon or tomorrow morning. It is at the drivers discretion when my household goods will get there. It can take between 5 to 8 days. No day is guaranteed. The driver will call me prior to the delivery. When the call is made, as in, how far the driver is out from the destination, isn't guaranteed.

    Again, this entire experience has been a complete nightmare. I have lost all faith in this company when it comes to, overall, service. I should have shipped my household goods through FedEx. It might have been more expensive but at least I would not have to go through the hassle that I am going through now and my belongings would have made it to their destination on a set date. I will be glad when my household goods are delivered because that means that this, ridiculous, circus will be done and over!! And then I can tell all of my friends who, not, to go through when moving their household goods.

  13. Do Not Use Guardian Movers & Storage.

    - The movers said they would call before they arrived. They did not call.
    - The movers said they would be there between the hours of 7am and 9am. They did not get there til after 9am.
    - The quote was nowhere near the overall price that I was charged. Take your quote and times it by 2 and that will be your overall cost.
    - My household goods were picked up on Aug. 8th 2011 and could be received as soon as Aug. 12th 2011. Seeing as though, the pick up was in Hawaii and the destination is in Georgia, I knew that my household goods would not make it there that fast. But keep in mind that if you put on the paperwork that the household goods cannot be received as soon as possible, then Guardian Movers and Storage will take it upon themselves to store your household goods at your expense.
    - While the movers were packing my household goods, from time to time, they would get on their phones to text and/or talk.
    - When the movers were done packing my household goods, they left over 10 rolls of tape and cardboard scattered throughout my, spotless, apartment.
    - I received an Invoice stating that my goods have been stored and that beginning Sept. 2011, I was going to have to pay for storage. I called them back and clarified that my paperwork shows that I never intended my goods to be stored and that I was not going to pay the storage fee. The situation was resolved and it is being stored on Guardian's expense.
    - When I called Sept. 7th 2011, the dispatch gave me little to no information as to why my household goods are still in storage and why a date hasn't been scheduled to receive it.
    - When I called Sept. 8th 2011, again, the dispatch was no help at all. He said that he would call me back within the hour. An hour had passed with no call. When I did call back, someone picked up the phone and, immediately, hung it up.
    - I called back again and, finally, spoke to someone that could give her name and the name of the Transportation Manager. Still no date on when my household goods can make it out of storage. I was told to call back next week.
    - This review website will not allow me to unclick "Allow visitors to contact you" and Storage.


    This entire experience has been an, unprofessional, nightmare. If you are reading this review, please direct your time and business elsewhere.

  14. Worst Company Ever.

    We moved to Hawaii in a 20ft container. with a different company. That move was perfect. When we moved back we call Gaurdian and spoke with Chris Brown. I explained what we had and it all fit in a 20 foot container on the way over and we would not be taking back our dressers or night stands. And that I shipped my golf clubs and most of my clothes back seperately. He gave me a quote of $4,800. I call him back and asked about them doing the packing which he said to add $500.00. We went with them packing. I left for Seattle and my wife stay in Hawaii until the move date. The packers showed up and told her our household would not fit in a 20 foot container and the price is now $8,500.00. Several phone calls back and forth and they lowered the price to $8,000. We had to be out of the condo in the morning so they had us. Fast forward to when our stuff showed up in Seattle. We are missing over $10,000 of artwork, most of my wifes clothes, our couch and more. Many of our items that we did get is boken beyond repair including our Head board foot board and side rails of our bed, TV stand, clothes steamer, plant pots and much more. I call Chris Brown to report the issues. He said he would return my call in 10 minutes after he call members of his management team. Not only did he not return my call but he wouldn't take my calls after that. After a week and a half I got ahold of a gal in their storeage warehouse she said they found our couch and a few boxes and she could have to me the following week on monday, tuesday or wednesday. Well it's 2 weeks later no couch no boxes. I call agian trying another extention Chris Brown answered the phone. Acted like this was the first he had heard about it. He said he was going to CC me on a letter he would be sending that day to the person incharge of that department. A week has past and no CC e-mail from Chris Brown. I'm afraid I going to have to get a Lawyer. Why do people have to be this way? I asked for the name of their CEO/President, Chris gave me the info site saying the CEO would get it. He wouldn't give me his name or address or phone number. I will post again as things get resolved or not.

  15. Well deserving of their name.

    I recently completed my move from Palm Springs, California to Honolulu Hawaii. I had found Guardian Moving and Storage on the internet and saw their BBB rating at the time was an A plus, I booked them for my move and was very confident with using them. Everyone at this company was helpful, friendly and knowledgeable about the move. Over the six weeks prior to the move a neighbor advised that the BBB rating fell to an F. I was shaken to say the least. I contacted Lydia for a reason on this and in her professional manner she explained in detail as to why this happened and had me rest assured everything would be fine and the company was very reputable. Well she was right. My move was scheduled for April 26, 2011 and the guys showed up on the day. They were polite, friendly, courteous, knowledgeable and eager to get started. They were so professional and represented the company very nicely. They way they worked I felt assured we had hired the right company. My items were schedule to arrive May 5th. While I was traveling home I received updates from the office as to my delivery date. My items arrived a week after the scheduled date which is according to my contract. The guys arrived and delivered all the items in a very professional manner. We went thru over 100 boxes and in all, everything was handled so carefully it was amazing. The staff at Guardian Moving and Storage is by far one of the best companies I have ever used. I have moved cross country four times and never had such great service. I would like to use them again but I am not ever moving. You cannot beat their pricing or their service. They are very professional and well deserving of their name.
