  1. Long distance moving

    Without a doubt Hilldrup is the best of the best. I have

    used Hilldrup for many moves including across country. Always reliable and dependable. The driver and movers are courtious and proffessional. The estimater and coordinater are always available. Don't waste your time calling anyone else.

  2. Cross country move MD to OR

    I will never recommend this company or United Van lines. Late arrival, late delivery, excuses, excuses, excuses. I had to hunt down my "customer service/move coordinator" trying to keep tabs on my possessions. Our possessions were moved between vehicles multiple times and then delivered in a U-Haul!!! The way our things were loaded into that U-Haul was a nightmare. Smashed boxes, broken antique furniture and belongings that were not even ours! I reached out to customer service about the other persons belongings......no response! this was a total nightmare.

  3. Bad job

    The packing we paid for was atrocious - items mixed together from different places throughout the home and Mis labeled boxes. The re-assembly of our infant’s crib was dangerous, and they didn’t even. Other to put together my other kid’s bed. They also tried to get out of putting a loveseat in the basement saying “it wouldn’t fit” but it fit just fine after we implored. They also put some of our stuff in an overflow truck that didn’t show up until 3 weeks after the total move, and it included other parts of one of our beds, among other things we needed right away. There was little to no communication about that truck, and it felt like it was only being addressed because I kept calling. They offered me only $100 off of an $11000 move for the trouble. Absolutely terrible experience. Will not choose them again, especially at this price point. We did not get what we paid for.

  4. Extremely bad experience - do not use them!

    Do not believe anything they tell you. We placed our belongings in storage with them for 3 months, and were told to give them 2-weeks' notice to schedule delivery. We gave them 10 weeks' notice and yet delivery was late.

    The moving coordinator never responded without constant follow-up. When she did respond, the information provided was very limited and usually untrue.

    MANY items damaged, have not yet submitted claim because we anticipate finding more. It appeared that they just threw our belongings onto the truck. Items that were packed very well with bubble wrap and packing paper arrived damaged. Items they packed for us (lamps, chairs, etc.) arrived damaged, even thought they were very well wrapped. At least 20 damaged items were damaged, and we haven't finished unpacking yet.

    Upon delivery, many items that required assembly were left unattached. We did not notice until the next day because they placed them together, but did not connect them. For example, we have a 6-piece bookcase that should have been connected by bolts but was just placed together. Thankfully I found a box labelled "Parts" and found the bolts in it, but had to pay a handyman to assemble it correctly. Same goes for a 2-piece armoire, and a 3-piece desk/bookcase.

  5. VERY BAD EXPERIENCE!

    I am very disappointed with Hilldrup services:

    1-They did not honor their contractual commitment to deliver on time

    2-Very poor customer service, you have to chase the information to know where your belongings are and when they would be delivered

    3-The quality management promised before you sign the contract with Hilldrup is simply a lie,

    4-Do anticipate damages to your belongings and be ready to fill complaints to a 3rd party as they are completely disengaged

    5-Overpriced without better quality

    Very disappointed experience!

  6. Customer service is horrible!

    I’ve had 2 experiences over the past 5 years with Jill drip/United for cross country moves. Let me start by saying they have good pricing especially for full service moves, quick response times and logistical planning, and great initial customer service. My review is based on the latest move I had - specifically the end of the move.

    Prior to the move I’d asked about Covid precautions and was assured that the moving team would be properly protected, however, this was not the case! The driver and his team wore face coverings most times but the face covering was similar to a shirt sleeve. It was a thin piece of cotton and not a medical grade mask of any sorts. Long story short my family and I contracted Covid from the team. How do we know it was from them? I had a 3 month old at the time and had been isolated from people for quite some time. No where else it could have come from. Thanks hilldrup/United!

    Then, with the ice storms in the Midwest at the time, our home goods were delayed a week. We had to spend an entire week in a hotel since we had no home goods.

    Customer service was amazing - or so I thought. They were apologetic and agreed to compensate us for our troubles. Wait for it… $200! Our move was $7000 and we spent several hundred more on unexpected lodging and food costs and they agreed to send only $200. Then the drivers company decided to match that and send $200. Though not nearly enough for our troubles (entire family including my newborn with covid, lodging and food costs) I was ready to close that chapter and move on.

    Here we are a month and a half after they agreed to compensate us and we still haven’t received a penny and now getting a response is difficult.

    This could be a good company but if you have any issues, don’t expect for them to resolve them efficiently or appropriately. Customer service sucks!

  7. TV damaged, not reimbursement

    Hilldrup mispacked and mishandled a TV and I was not reimbursed.

    Despite recommending/requiring third party crating of my 65" TV, they neglected to schedule the third party and instead had their worker stuff the TV in a box with a coffee table top and some blankets. I couldn't reschedule the pickup and had to let it go, knowing it looked iffy.

    I have proof of their mistake and still I got $0 for the TV damage. A $2,500 chair also needs reupholstering and I got a fraction of what it would cost as an "appearance allowance". Zero stars from me.

  8. AMAZING experience.

    Price was firm, Movers showed up at time agreed on, and delivered on time! Nothing was missing on the destination end and no damages!

    We moved from VA to AZ during the COVID pandemic and were nervous about the entire move. The crews on both ends were professional, friendly and respectful of our belongings. The driver called us two days before he was arriving in AZ to let us know the time and day he would be there. He and the crew showed up at that exact time. They unloaded and moved everything into place for us and were done in 4 hours.

    We deffinately recommend Hilldrup for your moving needs!!

  9. Missing Items / Flooded Home.

    Items Missing

    Moved from Virginia to Texas. Driver was awesome. Cords from TVs and Dyson vacuum lost. They put them (remotes, chargers, cords .. ) all in a box that never made it to the new house. Worker plugged the toilet which in turned flooded the house causing over $30k in damage, almost lost sale of home. Horrible, stressful situation. Items delivered in 2 deliveries WEEKS apart. Was given under $100 in compensation from Hildrup. Move aged me 10 years. Beware!!

  10. Cross Country Move with Hilldrup Movers.

    I moved from Virginia to Colorado in February 2019. Hilldrup handled my move from total packing services, transportation and unpacking in Colorado. All personnel, from Pete Ball who did the walk-through and provided the binding quote, Maria Piekarski who coordinated the move and stayed in contact throughout the process, the packers who took great care of both premises and belongings, Anthony who drove the truck through snow storms in the Midwest, and the people in Colorado who unpacked everything, were all professional and courteous. There were no damages or loss. The entire process was much less stressful than I expected. I recommend Hilldrup to anyone who is planning a move. Should I move again, I will certainly contact them.

  11. Hilldrup Movers - Be Warned.

    An absolute nightmare. Reading the other reviews, it looks like I am the exception and not the rule. Too bad for me. Read the reviews before selecting Hilldrup and never envisioned such a negative experience. Starting with the packers who were obviously in such a hurry to leave that fragile items were not labeled. Major damage to property with minimum compensation. No protection to cover new carpets. Rude and inexperienced help. Supervisor did nothing but sit in the truck making phone calls or sleeping. I could write pages on the negative attitudes, the broken items, the damage to the new house, and the refusal to put items in the requested location, such as many boxes marked to go to the basement left in the garage. Bed frames taken apart and the bolts and screws lost. The move was in July and I am just getting the final, small compensation. The moving estimator was professional and the coordinator helpful. Several members of the moving team were courteous and productive but lacked any direction from their supervisor. Corporate tried to handle the situation and I guess they did what they could, which unfortunately wasn't near enough. What is one dissatisfied customer? Not much unless it is you! I have moved several times and realistically, some damage and inconvenience is expected. This was and continues to be a nightmare. Be warned!

    An extremely dishonest company from top to bottom if you want lies and deception this is the company run don't walk away from this business.

  13. Horrible Experience.

    First, the good: The staff and driver were friendly and courteous.

    But while that is great, it doesn't replace the headboard that was DESTROYED with a fist-sized hole punched through it.

  14. Bad Experience with Hilldrup.

    This is regarding my recent movement with carrier no: U104-773-3.This movement is from Mooresville, NC to Hackensack NJ. I wanted to report the bad experience that I felt with the Hilldrup. The driver that came for Unloading on 01/08/2014 refused to bring my couches and king size mattress with the reason that elevator is too small to fit them. And ultimately I have to keep these items in Storage unit.   Then I called a "Movers 201 Inc" and they inspected the size of Item and elevator size and told that these can be easily brought into to the house using the elevator. So I hired them and they successfully brought the items in 25 Minutes. Now these items are in my house. So the driver that came from Hilldrup was not having any experience of unloading and brings the stuff to high rise buildings. This is very bad and so unprofessional. The driver from Hilldrup spend 4 Hours talking to people around the country and discussing about my couch and mattress. And driver from Movers 201 just took 25 mins to bring my stuff to the apartment that Hilldrup was not able to bring in. Also I have pay to Movers 201 additional expenses of USD 275. And me as customer is in loss as Hilldrup as send such a unskilled driver for unloading the stuff. I asked Hilldrup to pay me that I paid to Movers 201.
