  1. Left me with no help.

I mead an appointment online that was canceled. The next day made a new one and told the move 1 pm. I texted an 12:50 and called saying I was right there. They left me alone with my truck as they would not wait 5 min. No refund.

  2. Exceeded my expectations

I went through HireAHelper and they contracted a company for our movers, and everything went flawless. They took care of our belongings with great care and actually completed the entire move in under the quoted amount of time.

I would recommend HireAHelper to anyone and I plan on using them again.

    Worth the time and money

  3. Poor packing service In Florida

I heard three men not much needed to be pack. One of them one of the men did not do much he stood around and watched the other two do more. I have pictures of the stuff just tossed in a 26 foot long truck they should only taken 20 feet of it I mentioned this numerous times that I needed to put more stuff in the back so I can open the back and get it they do not care. It was not packed tightly I have not been able to unpack it yet not till the first. To the next person that uses the service make sure you read the fine print I would not ever use them again and this is the third time I have use hireahelper. It cost was about $400 and it was not worth it at all very Poor packing job computer screen is broken because they threw wooden dowels on top of it and they knew the box was open and there was a computer on it. I had mention to the movers that I had to go 1400 miles I need a package tightly went on death ears I had to tell the movers to put moving blankets that I had underneath the couch and not lay it on the floor of the truck for 1400 miles it would’ve really damaged it I do not know if it’s damaged at this time or not. Needless to say I definitely feel sorry for the next people that use this mover. I’m sorry I do not know what else to say about the poor loading job. Buyer beware

  4. Hire a Helper - Cincinnati Ohio

I was very dissatisfied with Hire a Helper.

I went online and went through the questionaire for a quote which I received. When I agreed to the quote the company that online said was available refused the project. I then went back online to get another quote and the company that refused my project was still online as available. Companies that show availability should be COMMITTED to the job and not able to refuse

  5. Excellent Moving Crew and Experience

They were extremely polite and considerate of our things. They showed up on time and are very fast at moving things. The group was a pleasure to work with and they went above and beyond during the process. I would definitely hire them again!

  6. Over promise, under deliver

Hire-a-helper "sold" me a moving service. I got laborers. They were good kids but not movers. They were slow. One sat in the car with her dog and ferrets while I moved boxes. I packed the truck. The movers I was promised would have completed the job in the allotted 3 hours. When I complained to EJ Cleanout and Moving manager/owner who called me for more money, he explained that he sent laborers, not movers and anything I was promised was marketing by hire-a-helper. I told a relative about hire-a-helper before my move but also let them know that the company was not to be trusted.

I rented the moving truck from the company they recommended. When I went to pick up the truck, it wasn't available so I had to get a smaller truck. I had to make 2 trips with the truck. Budget made it right with me but I still had to make 1 trip without the help of the "laborers".

In the end, I was grateful for the help from the laborers, but disappointed that Hire-a-helper over promised and under delivered.

  7. Side Hustle Gone Wrong!

Since you wanted a review, I am going to give you one. Very dissatisfied with my service. I was charged twice on my card. I was only supposed to be charged once. And the guy who was requested to move me told me to immediately call the moving company to cancel, so I could pay him out of pocket and told me that this 'deal' was between him and me. And his name was Junior Perez (503-420-2423) from J&M Movers. And he was supposed to have come on the day after I canceled the moving company to help me move my things and he never did show up saying, 'We don't work weekends. Have a nice day'. I will definitely not be using HelpForHire again to not be swindled again by no side hustle.

  8. Crappy service. DO NOT USE!!!

Movers charged me directly bypassing hire-a-helper. About a week later this company started trying to charge me again. I told them I paid already and they ask me to contact the movers to rectify this. What the hell!

  9. Hire a Helper is CRIMINAL

THIS COMPANY IS CRIMINAL! So to start off, the sales woman gave me a quote on the phone for $325, then said oh sorry actually its $480 .. When I asked why she said because she needs to hire “Professional movers”, when I pushed the issue and asked aren’t they all professional movers, she changed it again and said oh I actually found another for $445 .. She then proceeded to tell me that she is scheduling 3 hours and if I need more time it’s an extra $120 an hour. Then the movers get here, they are amazing, it took them exactly 2 hours. After the move was done, I went online to give them a nice review and thats when I noticed my bill (my mistake for not checking this sooner) .. Their minimum is for 2 hours and the sales woman added an extra hour for $120. She didn’t ask me if I wanted the extra hour. She didn’t give me an option. She just decided for herself to charge me an extra $120 for an hour that I didn’t need knowing that I would not be able to get it refunded and knowing that if the movers when over the minimum they could have added the extra hour then. I called customer service to explain the mistake and they refuse to refund. I have clear proof from my security camera that the movers were only here for 2 hours and that their minimum is only 2 hours. DO NOT USE HIRE A HELPER!!!! Such a scam. Just call the movers directly, I highly recommend Crocs Movers, they were great.

  10. Nightmare Experience!

Unresponsive to poor service. Inadequate business practices and disregard for contracted employees health & safety. I hired two movers for two hours on Friday, July 16, 2021 for $354. And was scheduled for another two hours and two movers for Saturday, July 17, 2021.

    Here's what we got:

    1. Friday's movers arrived 2 1/2 hours late.

    2. When they finally showed, one of the movers was already suffering from heat exhaustion and dehydration. He was sweating profusely, breathing heavy, and stumbling around while attempting to move furniture. We were so concerned while watching him do this, after 15 minutes of help I gave him some water and my husband told him to stop. He was either going to pass out and hurt himself, or damage our goods.

    3. So for the next 45 minutes it was MY HUSBAND and the ONE hire-a-helper mover doing all the heavy lifting up the stairs.

    4. The next thing we know, the exhausted worker is in our brand-new bathroom VOMITING!! Not outside in the yard, but in our bathroom!! While we were concerned for his health, we were also extremely concerned about COVID!!

    5. We told them to leave asap.

When I called Hire-A-Helper to adjust my billing, I was put on hold and passed around from one customer care manager to another for several minutes. Their resolution to this horrible service was to credit $100. So instead of paying $354 for 2 movers for 2 hours, they charged me $254 dollars for 1 mover for 1 hour and left me having to clean up someone's vomit from my own bathroom.

I tried to stop my payment through PayPal, but Hire-A-Helper had already processed it before the movers even arrived.

AND on top of it, they charged me an additional $95 to cancel the movers arranged for the second day. There was no way we were going to have another contracted employee come out when they obviously had no regulations for best business practices and safety concern for their workers and clients!

    UNBELIEVABLE!

Their only response was this was ALL according to the Terms of Agreement. Well, it also says in their Terms of Agreement:

Service Guarantee- If you are unsatisfied with your move, we will reconcile the issue on your behalf or reimburse you 100% of the cost of your job (up to US $1000.00).

They seemed to have forgotten this guarantee.

    Buyer Beware!

I am also contacting PODS to complain, since it was through PODS I was connected with Hire-A-Helper.

  11. Horrible Company!

Used Hire the helper back East & had a good experience… Ocean Side Southern Ca office HORRIBLE, STAY AWAY, poor customer service, horrible company. Their first movers ripped us off & now the ones they were sending out as replacements said “they had to cancel”no reason given with only 22hrs notice given. I’m now stuck with another paid rental truck & they act like I can use their next ones now at another 467.00 on top of the 375.00 I already paid for other company because it’s last min finding someone 22hrs before. Jose thought this was fullyAcceptable & I asked for his supervisor several times for him to just ignore me & “say there is nothing a manager can do” hey Jose let me teach some customer service skills…I didn’t ask you or tell you the reason I wanted the supervisor, when a customer asks for your manager /supervisor you say “ yes I will get her/him thank you please hold.”

Long story short if you are like me, you just would like reliable movers, who show up on time, do their job, for the day you booked your truck or PODS for, you also just want a company who won’t cancel last minute, or worse you don’t want them to steal, break, drop, treat your belongings like trash…you want them to treat your belongings like their own, THEN DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY & THE MOVERS THEY LIST. I PROMISE IT’S NOT WORTH THE HASSLE, THE PAIN, ALL THE MONEY YOU’LL BE OUT, AND MOST IMPORTANTLY YOUR PRECIOUS ITEMS BEING DAMAGED OR DESTROYED THAT MONEY CAN’T REPLCE! OCEANSIDE ( SOUTHERN CA. ) HIRE THE HEPER YOU BROKE LAW CANCELING WITHIN 24Hrs time limit… Jose you lied trying to say “2nd move was only booked today, because you knew by law you aren’t allowed to cancel within 24… that’s ok I have voicemails, emails, confirmation information & emails, that state replacement movers YOUR COMPANY HELPED WITH WERE BOOKED TUESDAY TH 6th not today the 10th & you cancel 22hrs notice!!!

    See you in court!

  12. Bad company

This company cancels or changes your move last minute. If there were zero stars they would get it. Do not use this company.

  13. Over charging for help

This is one of "PODS" recommended services for packing and unpacking, so I felt confident using them. I WOULD NOT recommend HireAHelper based on how they write their contracts to easily overcharge you when you hire help. In my case, it was a simple unloading that took LESS THAN 2 hours and I got charged 4 hours. My understanding from the long phone conversation was that there would be "contingency time" in case the 2 hours were not enough. I agreed with that. Somehow it was written up to be a contract for 4 hours of work. With the stress of moving, it should not be ONLY the fine print that determines your final bill. I needed more of an explanation as to how this happened. CUSTOMER SERVICE WAS NO HELP. No sympathy, no credit for the unused time. I DO NOT recommend HireAHelper for your moving help.

  14. Dont Use Them.

Had a move scheduled, one company canceled the day before, found another company, then they canceled the day of my move. On top of that they still charged me! Scam artists, do not hire, do not use the site.

  15. These guys are afraid of rain.

These guys screwed us. We live about an hour away from where they were coming from and they wouldn't come out because of the weather where they were at. There was no rain at the time they were supposed to be there. Then guy had already his workers go home. It's like he didn't even bother to look at what the weather was doing where we lived. We had rented a truck and everything and they couldn't come out because there was rain in a town an hour away from us. We had to move all of our stuff ourselves and made me and my wife extremely mad.
