  1. SCAM

SCAM SCAM SCAM!!!! BEWARE!!! I wish I could go below a 1 star. Initially, I saw all the terrible reviews and failed to adhere to these warnings. Please stay away from using this moving service. My down payment for move was $1006.87. The date for move was scheduled for 4th July 2021 from 1pm to 4pm, however driver called at 3:36pm on 4th July to inform me of he's unavailability until 9pm the night of 4th of July or move packing to 6am on 5th July 2021. I advised driver and customer representative upon signing my contract that my apartment complex wanted me out the building latest July 4th at 6pm. Failure to be out of the apartment complex at the set date and time will result in me paying 2 times of a  month rent. Driver and customer representative agreed they can service me within this window with ease but failed. Hence, I had to find local movers, uhaul truck, and uhual storage unit to move my belongings to storage after my call with the driver at 3: 36pm in order to return the apartment keys back to the leasing office. I requested a refund and they denied me a refund, I was insulted over the phone by Melissa Cid. She continously hanged up on my calls and refused to have anyone else speak or service me. I've proudly serve my country and that was the insults and disrespect I received from this company costing me $1006.87. BEWARE PEOPLE, DONT BOOK THEIR SERVICE!!!

  2. Horrible Company

My story echos many of the other horrible reviews.

Originally quoted great price, then when they picked up my furniture they raised the price by thousands! I did get some reimbursement for that but it took threatening legal action to get it.

Poor handling of furniture, arrived late, took almost 4 hours to move a small 2 bedroom apartment, you absolutely cannot reach customer service. I called everyday for 7 straight days, no response. They forgot a piece of my furniture on delivery and I was told “we are a business we can’t make a special delivery to you just because we forgot something, we will get it to you, eventually”. This company should be out of business. By the way still waiting for my missing piece of furniture ..

  3. Horrible

ZERO STARS. Do not walk. RUN! RUN and HIDE far away from Jacob and Sons. Not only are they unorganized as a business, but they are rude and have absolutely ZERO commitment to customer satisfaction. I booked this company through Budget Van Lines, a moving broker, over 3 months out from my actual move. We paid a deposit (red flag #1) and sent the dimensions of our items well before the arrival of the truck to pick up our belongings. Our move included two pickup stops before reaching the final destination. We were given a quote estimated at a little over 2k. On the day of the move, they increased the price to almost $5,000 (red flag #2) and said the move was by weight instead of cubic feet and that we were "way over" what we were quoted. In addition, they had no record of our second stop and refused to pick up the other items until the next day, which was a major inconvenience. The pickup was extremely unorganized. The employee was very rude and used a very unprofessional tone. When you try to call and receive an update on your items (they rarely answer the phone), you will most likely speak to their customer service "team". In reality, they have one person working, Melissa Cid. Melissa was nice at first and I had no complaints until I asked for a discount due to Jacob and Sons being almost two weeks late with our things as opposed to arriving between 1-7 business days based on our mileage, as written in the contract. Melissa screamed at me and hung up the phone multiple times. Not only that, she also threatened to take away the very small $80 discount that she provided for late delivery; mind you the total of our move was almost $5,000...I filed many complaints with Budget Van Lines who was able to provide somewhat of a positive experience (thank you very much to Belkis at BVL). When the truck finally arrived almost 3 weeks after pickup, both a desk and a dresser were broken as a result of their poor care for our belongings. Overall, this was my last time using a moving company. You will save yourself thousands just by hiring local movers to load a truck and driving it yourself to your destination. Jacob and Sons Moving and Storage is only focused on taking your money with little regard for the treatment of their customers, their furniture, and other belongings. No matter how desperate you are, please save yourself from a miserable experience and DO NOT USE JACOB AND SONS MOVING AND STORAGE. I also do not recommend Budget Van Lines as they have little control over their third party movers and outsource everything, however, they did try to provide a positive experience after filed complaints and were very responsive. I could say a lot more about this experience, but I will end it here.

  4. Ripped me off for $900

BEWARE OF THIS COMPANY - THEY VIOLATED CONSUMER PROTECTION LAWS IN MY STATE - stole $900 from me!

Salesperson, Chris Johnson, way undervalued my move to get my deposit telling me I could cancel within 72 hours of my move & get refund in full but are refusing now to do. I called their customer service & spoke to Liz who TOLD ME I CANCELLED PROPERLY & THAT I WOULD GET A FULL REFUND but they are trying to give me a "credit" that I can use within 1 year.

They use Bait & Switch tactics to get your credit card pressuring you to "lock in the cost". It is ALL A SCAM TO GET YOUR DEPOSIT - don't give them any $.

please read all the negative complaints on the BBB website & Yelp as they also lie about sub-contracting their work out to random people they find on Craigslist.

Complaints about damaged property caused by their careless movers (even tho they tell you you have free insurance) yet they scam you on that too. Reviews on Google & Angi's list can NOT be trusted as they are very deceitful & they are a HORRIBLE COMPANY TO DEAL WITH

BEWARE - DO NOT USE THIS BUSINESS

  5. Cash demanded before unloading - smashed furniture - est. increased

    • On April 3, 2021, Jacob and Sons gave us a “binding estimate” of $3726.37 to move the contents of our 2,600 sq. foot home from Naples, Florida to Livonia, Michigan. They did not send anyone to inspect our home or belongings. On April 25, the price increased to $9706.06 still without visiting our home. AND THAT’S NOT THE WORST THEY DID TO US.

    • After they picked up our goods on April 28, the price increased to $13,650.00.

    • AND EVEN THAT’S NOT THE WORST THEY DID TO US

    • We would not be able to find another mover in two days. The closing of the sale of our home was April 29’ two days to go. Then they stored our belongings for a month while we bought a 1700 sq.ft condo in Michigan. The belonging we brought did not fill the condo.

    • When we closed on the condo in Northville, which is close to Livonia, we instructed Jacobs to deliver our belongings on May 27. On May 26 we received the following Email from [NAME EDIT], of Jacobs Dispatch Dept..

    • “On the day of the delivery your final payment $5,422.70 MUST be in cash or postal money order (from the United States Post Office) only. The driver will require payment prior to the offloading of the truck.” We thought this strange, but they had our belongings. We had already paid them $8000.00 plus. IF WE WANTED OUR BELONGINGS, WE BETTER PAY IN CASH.

    • The truck arrived about 9 pm in the dark. It was not a Jacobs truck. I COULD NOT SEE ANY NAME ON THE TRUCK IN THE DARK. It was driven by a guy named [NAME EDIT] cell phone (704) 852 8487. He had two inexperienced helpers and none of the trio were in uniforms. We looked inside at one or two items to make sure they had our belongings. All we could see were mangled boxes. The furniture was buried under the boxes. I took a quick video of the inside but it was dark. It looked a shambles of broken boxes in there. It took till 1 am for them to unload. We noticed a few small pieces of furniture were broken. They incorrectly assembled the beds leaving off some pieces. The next day I had to redo them from scratch. They left behind several items not belonging to us – a small table (they took that after I told them), several lengths of bed iron supports, a framed needlework. I have since tried unsuccessfully to return the needlework with information supplied by [NAME EDIT].

    • At about 12.30 am the last piece of furniture was unloaded and we now understood why they had demanded CASH. Two of the legs had snapped of our beautiful mahogany dining table. A table that could be extended with two extra leaves. It could seat 10 people. THIS DAMAGE COULD ONLY HAVE BEEN DONE BY DROPPING THE TABLE FROM A GOOD HEIGHT, OR ELSE THE TRUCK CARRYING OUR BELONGINGS WAS IN A CRASH.

    • Over the forty plus years we have owned this table it has been transported from Argentina to Massachusetts, once within Massachusetts, and moved from Massachusetts to Florida without a scratch on the table.

    • We informed Jacobs and Sons of the damages. They replied with the following message from the [NAME EDIT] at Jacobs & Sons. “Please register your claim: www.movingclaims.net- Your information will be immediately saved in their system and a Claim Registration Acknowledgement Notice will be sent to the email you have provided within 24-72 Hr.

    • Always at Your Service! [NAME EDIT]. (THE SAME [NAME EDIT] WHO TOLD US THAT WE HAD TO PAY CAH TO GET OUR BELONGINS BACK.)

BELOW IS THE WORST THING THEY DID TO US.

    • The “Moving Claims system” appears to be designed to make it extremely difficult for anyone to make a claim. We are in our 80’s so it was doubly difficult. As you complete the forms with the information they demand, pop up advertising that has nothing to do with the moving business, makes it difficult to know what to click next. Also, WE customers, are tasked with providing all the documentation generated by Jacobs & Sons. Not only that, but it must to assembled in a single document attached to an Email. Ordinary mortals like us cannot not do this. We had to pay to have it done by professionals.

    • We sent the information to Moving Claims. A couple of weeks later we had a message from them to tell us we had screwed up. “Kindly start again and follow our instructions.” We did and it was accepted. A month later they sent us a settlement letter. $50 compensation for the ruined table.

    • Table not delivered

    • This table was not delivered. It is an unusual table with iron legs and a drawer. I talked with [NAME EDIT], the driver of the delivery truck, to try to find where he might have left it. I also talked to him about the needlework he left us – nothing sensible came out of that.

  6. Horrible company

This people are a total scam. They charge extra for everything. About 90% of my stuff came damaged or broken. The claim process is a pain for 0.60 cents/pound. Say away from them!

  7. Good Job!!

I believe my search for the best movers has officially ended, and Jacob and Sons Moving are the grand champion. They ticked every box from punctuality to safety to price and are a group of nice guys to boot. We had a smooth move without any trouble. Highly recommended.

  8. Great Experience

I needed someone to collect some garden furniture from a friend, and Jacob and Sons Moving were just the right people to do it. I booked online first thing on a Saturday morning, and the job was done by 3 pm. Very convenient and not too expensive. Very happy to use them again. Highly recommend using them. Try them once; you won't regret it.

  9. Smooth Move

Excellent service from booking center to delivery. Great experience. Punctual, courteous, and really helpful. I will definitely use it again.

  10. Great experience!

On-time, very polite, and very helpful. Excellent service and less stress. They told me less cost than other companies.

  11. Cheap estimate and expensive final bill

Initial estimate was 350 cubic feet and around $3,200. When the movers showed up, the bill sky rocketed to over $6,000 and they said we had more like 1200 cubic feet. Felt very fraudulent.

  12. Best Work

Brilliant service. The drivers were efficient, quick, and friendly. They kept everyone informed of their progress at all times. Excellent and flexible service - thank you. I would use it again.

  13. Great Experience

It's cheaper than the others I looked at and the driver I got went above and beyond. I would use Jacob and Sons Moving again and would definitely recommend them.

  14. Highly recommended!!

The movers were efficient and worked very hard,I would not hesitate to recommend Jacob and Sons Moving. I will not hesitate to recommend your services and you are now in my phone as the go to company for doing a move. Thank you once again. What a fantastic service absolutely

  15. Thumbs Up

I booked Jacob and Sons Moving to move my dad from CO to West CA. The two men who moved him were so lovely with him and totally respectful of his recently widowed status. They took great care with his belongings and made sure it was as painless as possible.
