Entire Cross Country Move.
We moved for our 25th time in my career from Bismarck to Phoenix. We made it very clear from the beginning that we would be placing our household goods in climate controlled storage.
We also stated that we wanted our goods sorted by room at the storage facility, and paid for this service.
The packers had to re-pack the majority of our goods due to carelessness prior to loading. The agency labor was rude, incompetent, careless and was only interested in how fast they could throw our possessions on the trailer and get home.
Upon arrival at the destination the driver and his helpers all but refused to sort our goods, so everything went into storage as it was unloaded from the truck. The estimate was either grossly underestimated or the driver found some creative ways in which to inflate the weight of our shipment. The Owner of Jobber's was very gracious in working out a reasonable settlement with us.
We have been in a protracted dispute with Allied over damage to a kayak that was damaged during the move. Allied's position continues to be that we placed our possessions in storage at the final destination and that our possessions were out of our control Thus, Allied stated that they will not be responsible for damages that occurred during loading and shipment.
The contract we signed does not have any sort of language that closely resembles Allied's position pertaining to damage.
As we promised we have finally had the time and rented additional storage units in which to unpack and inventory our possession, all within the contractual time period stated in the contract. We have numerous items damaged and several of our boxes missing.
We will be submitting our final claim this week and in some ways feel that we already know Allied's position, but again, the contract that we signed states otherwise.
I have moved 24 previous times in my career and Allied has always provided me with the very best moves, until now. This was absolutely the worst move I have ever experienced. I would never recommend Allied to anyone. In fact, based on this latest experience I would in fact steer them away from Allied.
