  1. Moving scam.

We used Lion Transportation to move my mother's furniture and household items. From the start we were lied to. Other than under-estimating the weight, which seems to be typical to the moving industry. Three men arrived an hour and a half late in a budget truck. They said the moving truck was in Phoenix. My mother insisted on speaking to the dispatcher to ask why the truck wasn't sent. She was told that the truck couldn't travel to our town on the road there. This road is the main artery between I-10 and I-40. It is US I-17. From there is another well traveled hwy to our home. She finally agreed to let them load her things onto the budget truck to be taken to Phoenix and transferred to the truck that would take them to Arkansas. They didn't finish until after midnight. When they told us we would have to accompany them to a scale to have the truck weighed again. Instead of going south they insisted on going north to Flagstaff. I ended up meeting them at a truck stop west of Flagstaff. I told the man in charge that he was going out of his way to get to phoenix. I found out later that he had no intention of taking her things to Phoenix. They went to L.A. Her things were stored there. We made many calls trying to find out where the furniture was and why it wasn't delivered in the 5-7 day timeline we were given. We never received a return call. When her things finally arrived it was by a driver from a totally different company, MCI. Thank goodness for him and his helper. Nearly every piece of furniture was damaged. Mom was just devistated. These men were so kind and understanding. They did their best to soften the blow by giving her their main office's phone number to help her get the claim forms she needed. The damage was not caused by accident, which is what the insurance is for. It was caused by negligent handling. Veneer gouged off, finishes removed by tape. deep gouges and scratches on nearly every piece of furniture. Worse yet, we found out that the piano had been stored on its side. Again the driver saved the day. He refused to let them load it on his truck that way. What he wasn't able to stop was them loading another heavy piece on top of the chest freezer then topping it with other heavy boxes. The top caved in and will not hold a seal. Most of the furniture damaged is so bad that it will have to be restored. Refinishing is not an option.

Using this company is taking a huge chance that your things will be damaged beyond repair. These people absolutely do not care what they do to your treasured items. The piano they scratched, and broke a piece on was the first piece of furniture my dad ever bought her, 6months after they married in 1953. Over those many years we moved that piano too many times to count and never scratched it. Dad is gone, so it is treasured more than ever. The people at Lion promised to take care of it. That was just another lie. Please, stay away from this company.

  2. Scam.

On August 10th, 2010 I hired the services of Lion Transportation Inc. to move my household goods from California to North Dakota. The scheduled delivery date was August 28th, 2010. Contractually they have up to 30 business days to delivery my goods. A little before the 28th I began to call Lion Transportation Inc. to inquire about the delivery, without any success. At the time of this writing it has been 3 weeks since the 28th. I have not received any contact from the company whether it be by phone (3 different contact phone numbers), by email (2 different email address), nor by mail (USPS at 2 different mailing addresses). The only contact information I got from them was the 2 phone numbers from their website. To get the rest of the contact information I had to scour the internet to retrieve form other people that they had poor (and poor is a very loosely used term) business practices with. This company is NO GOOD. They will keep you item and you will never see them again. Before you hire a company from California you should call the Department of Consumer Affairs (www.dca.ca.gov). Do NOT use this company to move any of you household goods and/or any other item. If I had done my homework I would not be in the predicament I am in now. They currently still have my items and will not contact me nor answer any time I try to contact them. THIS IS A SCAM/RIP-OFF COMPANY. Hope this helps anyone else avoid the situation that I am currently in.

  3. This is a Scam.

First of all, please go look at their website where there is an image in the header that says they are an accredited BBB business. Then click on the image, and learn they actually ARE NOT. This company seemed honest and accountable until my deposit became non-refundable. After which, they did not answer their phone calls during regular business hours, nor did they respond to e-mail. The "movers" appeared late in a Budget truck and, while appearing professional, promptly pulled the age old bait and switch rooking me out of twice the estimate. Almost two weeks later and my wife and I have absolutely no idea where our stuff is. Despite innumerable phone calls, we have only ONCE been able to contact someone named "Sydney" (none of the employees actually go by their real names) who told me her "supervisor" would call me back later. When I expressed that I doubted that was true, she told me to trust her as she was a "woman of her word." Guess what? Nobody called us. Lion Transportation, Inc. is breaking the law by not keeping an open line of communication with their clients, and that in the very least is reason to avoid this "company" like the plague. The only way you'll ever hear from them is if you *67 your number and let it ring 10 times. DO NOT EVEN THINK ABOUT USING THIS COMPANY. THEY ARE FRAUDULENT, as is every other "positive" review I've seen for this company. These people they refer to do not exist!

In the meantime, wish us luck..

  4. Lion Transportation? More like Lin' Transportation. SCAM ARTISTS.

The service of this company is beyond awful. BEYOND. They are complete scam artists. They don't even deserve a one star and in fact, I wish I could give them negative stars. If you're thinking of using Lion Transportation, please read my whole story so that I can perhaps save YOU the hardship my husband and I are currently enduring. We researched a bunch of moving companies for a cross country move for the end of August, and of all the reasonably priced options, we went with Lion Transportation, Inc. because their customer service was so great. We never had a problem reaching "Jesse" and she was always helpful in trying to answer our questions about the move. Their estimate wasn't the best one we received, but we went with them because we trusted them and appreciated the fact that we could get in touch with them easily. What a mistake! We gave Lion our deposit and scheduled our move. Lion was supposed to contact us 24 hours before our move date, and never did. We called them multiple times during business hours that day no one EVER answered. Suddenly "Jesse" who had been so helpful before we were clients, was incommunicado. Hmm.. Lion was supposed to show up between 2-4 pm on a Saturday, and when we hadn't heard from them we started thinking about alternate plans. Uhaul? Sell our stuff? Hire another company for $$? So you can imagine our relief when, at 3:55, the driver Avi (who also went by "Michael" because it's "easier to pronounce") finally called us to let us know they'd be late. Although we should have been disappointed that already, the service from Lion was deteriorating at a rapid rate, we were just relieved they were going to show up. They showed up at about 6 pm and began to move our stuff into the Budget van they rented (if they tell you THEIR drivers are the ones who will move your belongings, PLEASE don't believe them -- it's is a lie). Of course, the estimate was WAY off, and we ended up paying almost twice as much for our move. However, that's actually not the problem. It's not uncommon for moving companies to give low estimates to get an individual's business, and research has even shown that people are poor at estimating things like how much stuff they have, so I'm sure we were equally to blame for thinking we only had 35 boxes of stuff (we had more then that). The real problem is that Lion has had our stuff for a week and a half, and we haven't heard anything from them despite the fact that they're legally obligated to keep an open line of communication with their customers. We've tried calling their main office, no one ever picks up except for one time when "Sidney" answered and told us she had no idea what was going on with our stuff but her "supervisor" would call us and we should believe her because she's a "woman of her word" (surprise surprise, no one called us). We've tried calling their national line, no one picks up. We've tried calling our foreman, and he ignores our calls until we mask the number, then picks up only to give us the runaround about how he doesn't know where our stuff is, he's injured, he will get in touch with them etc. Unfortunately, he never makes good on his promise to give us information, and now refuses to pick up his phone, too. In fact, the only real "communication" we've had with this company is via our bank statement, which showed us that they cashed our 65% payment check. Right on, Lion! This behavior is illegal according to the Movers' Rights pamphlet Lion gave us, so it's really odd and unsettling. It's been a nightmare to not be able to get in touch with the people who have all your earthly belongings. If I could go back in time, I'd smack myself and my husband for going with Lion for our move and say "No, fools! Don't do it! This could be one of the biggest mistakes of your life!!" But until they build a time traveling machine, I will settle for warning y'all.

Lion has been AWFUL since they came and took our stuff. In fact, we're gotten in contact with a bunch of other people they've scammed and are disheartened to find out they're scamming someone's Nana. Yeah, Lyin Transportation are the kind of scum of the earth that will scam SOMEONE'S NANA.

Please, do NOT use Lion Transportation. THEY ARE THE WORST.
