  1. Worst moving service ever. DO NOT USE.

This company does not actually do the moving themselves. They are just brokers and say anything to seal the deal but then when it comes to your actual move they contract it out and leave you in the dust.

I was supposed to have my car and entire household transported & guaranteed by John Valeo. Week of the move I’m called and told that they can’t transport my car. I was left in the lurch and had to find another car transport.

Day before the move, was called and told my truck won’t come until the following day, in which Mr. Valeo had personally guaranteed it would be able to happen on that day. Someone from the contracted company was able to secure a truck, but my items went into storage in Philly rather than Denver like promised.

So now I’m waiting to hear when I’m going to get my stuff from the East Coast and it’s been 24 days and they won't even tell me when it will get here.

Whatever you do, don’t use this company. They’re a ruse and a trick.

  2. Worst.

We are a retired military family so this was our 9th move but first move as a civilian. It was horrible. We explicitly told the broker that we wanted a PCS type move based on weight because we knew our exact household goods weight. He agreed and was all friendly and helpful until it was bidded out and then we never heard from him again. He did not return phone calls or texts ever again. The packing company told us we had 4000 more pounds than we had stated and charged us for extra materials and fuel etc despite our proof of weight from the previous move 2 years ago and we had sold items. They literally extorted us and showed us false weight tickets. Before delivery, I had to pay the Driver $400 to get a reweigh that proves we had 4000 pounds less than we were charged. They also did a terrible pack job and broke many items. We now have are starting legal action to get our additional fees back and will report them to the BBB and instigate a federal investigation into their extortion practices as a company.

  3. UMbelieveable.

Long Distance Movers washed their hands as soon as they received their money. I spent numerous hours trying to get to get issues resolved … a month later, no resolution. Long Distance Movers hired a rated "F" BBB company to move my household items. Another nightmare in itself. I didn't find out the moving company's name (Stop and Move) until the day of packing. The man in charge of the crew said my household good 'past' the line on the moving truck and said it was an additional $500. Didn't find out until AFTER the check was cashed that this man is claiming it was a "TIP" - - this was only ONE of many issues with the company. They lost my bed, lots of broken/lost items. Packing was that of an armature. Long Distance Movers are not taking any responsibility for sending this company to my residence. The price I was charged at pickup was more than double the estimate Long Distance Movers said it would be. Long Distance Movers said they are out of the picture and to deal with the movers directly. These types of companies need to be exposed. A waste of $5,272 … and this does not include all the damages/lost items - - approx. $6,451. I have names, dates and times of this nightmare. Both companies have been reported / a complaint has been submitted to the BBB.

  4. Bait and Switch.

After reviewing 10 carriers and reviewing their ratings I chose this company. The representative said his name was Robby and text me his personal cell phone if I had any problems. We reviewed the date the contents had to be at the new house, all costs which according to him was all materials, move out and move in as long as there were not additional steps. Robby kept telling me that his company was A rated, and indeed had good reviews. On moving day a different company arrived, with a different contract, I got charged $365 additionally and the driver told me that it could take 21 days legally to get my stuff to the house. Then they wanted to get paid although Long Distance had already been paid. Do not trust this company.

  5. Louisiana to Michigan Move.

    5 STARS!!
Thomas McGarry, Senior Sales Coordinator, has been a major help to me in the planning stages. I’ve never hired movers before and he answered every question completely and patiently. I’ve been able to get additional answers via texts, too. He has been cheerful and upbeat—appreciated because I’m going through a divorce after a long marriage.

I was lucky because I happened to call this company out of the blue. One previous company treated me like an idiot. When you’re moving from Louisiana to Michigan, you need good service and a kind person on the other end. Mr. McGarry makes it seem easier than I was worried it would be!

  6. Trucking company.

This company picked up furniture and personal belongings for a living room and bedroom. Pick up date was June 14 of this year. Today is July 9 and still nothing. The communication from this company since they picked up property was beyond underwhelming. They have documentation on when and how many times I called or tried to contact them. At times the didn't even say Hello, just said wait a minute and dialed someone else. I was told First 5 to 10 days for delivery then 14 days then 7 to 21 days then no later then July 5th then on July 4th was told 21 business days. WHAT trucking COMPANY SETS UP EVERY WEEKEND? I WAS TOLD A FEW TIMES IT WAS STILL SITTING IN az. THE LAST I WAS TOLD WAS JULY 10TH. TODAY S JULY 9TH. WISH US LUCK. I STILL HAVE NOT GOTTEN AN ANSWER ON FINAL BILL IN WHICH THE TOTAL HAS ALREADY GONE $1500 OVER THE QUOTE. PLEASE RESEARCH MORE CAREFULLY. I THOUGHT I DID AND REALLY FELT COMFORTABLE. MADE A BIG MISTAKE. BEWARE MY mother, who is the person we moved said if anyone suggests this company say NO. She is 88 yrs old and living out of a suitcase for a month.

  7. Avoid them.

They were all nicey nice until after they received their portion of the move payment deposit. They provided a pick up date with a 3 hour window, and the mover they contracted with was 2.5 hours late, and I had a plane to catch, We quickly completed the paperwork and my neighbor stayed and supervised them. They did not wrap items they should have and items were damaged. The real nightmare was it took 20 days for delivery after several calls to customer service. My stuff was in a warehouse for 2 weeks and got filthy. Items were damaged, and the agents I dealt with did not care or respond to my concerns over very late delivery. then I got hit with a $300 long carry fee at delivery to add insult to injury. They did not assemble the bed properly and were in a BIG hurry to get out when my husband told them they were not receiving a tip. So glad to be done with them. Should have went with the other quote for door to door with one carrier.

  8. Complete Disaster - They lost my car key.

Long Distance movers(http://www.ldmoversinc.com/) - They deserve nothing more than 0-star rating. Long distance movers are brokers and have no control over the agencies and the pick-up drivers they are working with. If something goes wrong, they say "you contact the agency directly, we cannot assist you". They are not professionals and they have no idea how to run this business.

    Issues

It’s been four months. They lost my Car key and keep responding "Use your spare key". I have no idea who shipped my car as I got 2 movers details from long distance movers and the pick-up driver. None of these agencies are reachable. It goes straight to voice mail. I doubt they are real movers.

The transport agent information shared by the driver - National Moving Group Inc - 4731, W Atlantic Ave, Ste 14 delray beach, FL, 33445

The transport agent information shared by Long Distance Movers - C&J Transport of Ludington Michigan INC (prev. C&J Transport), 8314 Olive Blvd, saint louis, MO 63132

Nov 2017, I called them to transport my car from Saint Louis to Atlanta. I followed up with long distance movers and the pick-up agency but the pickup Driver and the agency were not reachable and driver came 3 days later to pick my car. I had to request my friend to coordinate the move as I already left the city.
Driver said We had to pay full amount before he would pick the car. We called long distance movers and they said to pay the full amount. I had no other option as I already paid 150$ - advance to them. My advice: NEVER PAY THE FULL AMOUNT. PAY THE REMAINING AMOUNT AFTER YOUR CAR ARRIVES IN THE NEW LOCATION.
As the driver and the agency got all the money, the driver left the car in my apartment in Atlanta and left without handing over the keys to me or to my landlord. When I called the agency for the key they asked me to check few places outside the car and the driver was not reachable. It went on for a week and I had to use the only spare key I had. Till now 03/11/2018, I did not get my key back.
Long Distance movers (Frank Anthony, Annie Varney, heidil) They keep saying the driver and the agency are not answering our call, we left voice mail. You have the spare key, right?
    What a ridiculous response?
Long Distance movers(http://www.ldmoversinc.com/) do not know who they are doing business with and they have no idea/control to reach their agency if the agency messes things up. It’s been four months already. NEVER TRUST this mover - LONG DITANCE MOVERS (http://www.ldmoversinc.com/)

I hope this might help others to choose the good movers.

  9. Moved from Indiana to michigan.

My experience was bad bad. My husband was out of town and movers came at 6pm in a snowstorm, 3 Bulgarian men which only 2 did 95% of the work, and they also told me not to worry about what they were doing ! Snow and dirt from the garage all over my carpet. I had to ask them to put down a rug. I finally started helping them. Feed them pizza it was so late. They left at 11pm. I put $1,500 down with a card originally. They told me it would be another $2,100 total, not the $1600 I was told. I could buy insurance for another $1,000. Didn't use boxes for the 3 T B's. Was told I had to pay cash or postal money order. ERIK from LONG DISTANCE MOVERS said the night before give them a credit card for balance. Delivery day I called the other Erik who went over list which was wrong, he never called back and also spent 2 hours trying to get money out of my bank to pay them a postal money order . They finally unloaded and the next day my 60 inch TV was cracked. My bill after they fueled up was $3,100. So I actually paid $4,500 total. If I was told this upfront for a 3 bedroom home with just some junk in 3rd bedroom, no basement. It was $1,000 cheaper with a different company 2 yrs ago when I moved in DO NOT CALL THIS LONG DISTANCE MOVERS from Del ray Florida.

  10. Pretty Good. Quote is a bit inaccurate.

I chose LDM because Jay (the rep who I was in contact with) was extremely nice and helpful. When the movers came to my apt, they said the cubic feet of my move was more than the quote, and it was an extra couple hundred of dollars. Other than that, the moving company came, packed up all my stuff, and was out the door in no more than two hours. Overall, it was a pretty good experience. Not too shabby for a moving broker.

I still have my car to be transported, so more on this later..

  11. Lack of Customer Service and no empathy for the customer.

I contacted LDM as they did not have any negative reviews on both blogs and the BBB. I was advised that this is a family business so I am assuming they would be good at customer service and follow ups. I have been wrong!
The estimate under the Job Order L4315022 was for $1550.00. I paid the deposit of $680.00 to secure the move. I called the week before to verify if all was set, which I did not receive a call. I then sent an email which the representative, Anthony, replied. That did follow with a phone call.
I did ask if the remaining payments would be in certified check or credit card, being advised to use a certified check. The amount of the check was $435.00. The movers advised I would need to pay an extra $75.00 and “tip” which is normally 10% of the total. I was not prepared for the extra so I advised I would need to go to the bank. With that said, the movers advised I could write a personal check for the combined amount of $225.00 (75+150). They cashed the check as I advised them.
The actual drivers arrived, there were three in total. The move went quick as I do not have much, 25 boxes and three pieces of furniture. This took 45 mins.
I was advised the remaining balance of $435.00 would be made at the destination of my new home in Dallas, TX. This would-be cash or money order. I signed the paper work and was satisfied.
I opted for the 30 day storage since I did not have a lease in place for Dallas. I received a call from the dispatcher on July 12, 2017 asking for a address to deliver the contents. The dispatcher included a email address which he stated was a better method of contact. I emailed and called on July 15, 2017 with the address in Dallas. I did not receive a call or reply to the email.
I waited until July 17, 2017 and called. I was advised by the dispatcher, there would be an additional fee of $350.00 for the shuttle as the truck cannot gain access to the building. The paperwork I signed states the minimum is $300.00. At that point, I advised I would be in the apartment on July 25, 2017 and could receive the goods.
I called on July 24, 2017 to say I was in Dallas and would like to know the status of the move and date. Advised need to verify the driver. I did not hear back so again, I called to verify, was advised this would be in the next couple of days. I asked for a specific date as I need to reserve the freight elevator for the move and the time of the day, was again advised the driver would contact. I was given the phone number of the driver, 305-744-1211, which I attempted to call, however, he does not have a voice mail. Again, I called the dispatcher to advise, I was told I would receive a call back, which I am still waiting for.
Today, I again called the dispatcher and there was no answer so I called the main number, was again advised the dispatcher will call me; again, I am still waiting for the call and no call back even from the company.
I understand not everything goes as planned, however, this lack of customer service and even empathy for the customer is grossly lacking. I do not know about most people, but I am starting a new job in the new city and I cannot just take off work when I choose nor should I have to go thru the hoops of contacting a moving company when I am the customer and since the majority of the payment has been made, they should be acknowledging the wrong and do something.

  12. Virginia Beach, VA to Lexington, KY.

The biggest issue came for delivery with them and the company they used "Roadrunner" (stationed in NC). I called and stated I would be able to accept delivery June 20th. I was told my delivery would be the following Saturday between noon and three. The day came and no one showed. Starting that Monday, I could only speak with a girl from Long Distance Movers named Aly. Since she was the only person. Who accepted my calls, returned any missed calls, and tried to resolve the issue, I have no complaints about her. For THREE WEEKS, I was told my delivery would be that Saturday between 3 and 5. I was never told a reason why that never happened until the five days before delivery. The weekend of, I was given the entire weekend as a window (everything following was told by RoadRunner). The final day, I was told the truck broke down and they had to wait for a backup..towards the evening I assumed my delivery would be Monday since Sunday was the final day of the window. Monday afternoon around 1, Dispatch only said Tuesday afternoon. I called back at 5 on the dot for an update and Jennifer claimed "it was for today, but someone changed it to Wednesday". Wednesday, no delivery becuase the driver "forgot paperwork for the previous client and had to turn around". Thursday comes and I'm guarenteed between 3 and 5, however the driver calls at 4:30 and tells me 7:30. Good news is he finally shows up.

During the entire three weeks, I'm told I would received discounts for the inconveniences throughout this ordeal. The ONLY discount I received was for them not showing that day at the original time and ended up paying more than promised. Now that my stuff has been delivered, I am unable to get in contact with anyone.

  13. Proud.

My wife and I decided to use a professional mover to move us to the other side of Miami, FL. We didn’t have so many things, but we wanted the best mover we could get because we value our hard earned stuff. We chose Long Distance Movers and we were very proud of our decision as the process drew to a conclusion. The guys moved everything without any damages and without any missing things. They helped us with everything as we busied ourselves with other things. We had no stresses throughout the move and we would like to recommend Long Distance Movers to everybody that values their properties and money.
