  1. Avoid These People.

    I CANNOT STRESS THIS ENOUGH _ AVOID THESE PEOPLE AT ALL COSTS. They gave me an estimate of $1,400 for 3 guys for 10 hours. They were here 7 1/2 hours out of which I caught them loafing for one full hour and another hour they spent at lunch so they only worked for 5 1/2 but still charged me for the full 10 hours. On top of that they broke approximately $200.00 worth of my belongings and stole 6 cans of soft drink out of my refrigerator! They also left all of my kitchen goods over at the old house and I had to make 6 trips by car to get everything, working until 1:30 a.m.! I am now disputing the charge and I am sure we will wind up in court. I will keep you posted!

  2. Worst Company.

    Cracked the screen of a 42" tv..only willing to pay $12 after I was told it would be replaced.. I had to call office several times to inquire about claim..never a follow up update call..office couldn't care less that it will cost several hundred dollars to replace.. worst customer service I've ever seen..do not use this careless moving company.

  3. Move out of state.

    Do not use them. I am still assessing the damage. they packed and moved me out of Naples. The people packing nearly set my house on fire by putting paper on my stove which started smoking. What I didn't know at the time was they were wrapping a Waterford lamp that is burnt and cracked on top. The bed screws were improperly attached to the beds and they are custom beds and are lost. Waterford sconces were at the bottom of lamps and I stressed to be careful with them. One of my tilt top tables had the little screw removed and now we cannot find the piece to put it together. I have moved the same furniture for 30 years about 10 times and I have never had these issues. We did have someone unload us from the storage unit here as they were going to charge us $2800 to store us for one month and move us back again. I also tried to change the arrival date but they would not accommodate me. Also, their quote was low..to low I now realize. The actual cost went up substantially.It ended up being nearly the same as the company I was going to use. They should not be in business. I will update this as I continue to unpack. I felt bullied by the office staff.

  4. Third move using Modern Movers.

    This was the third time I have used Modern Movers over the 16 years I have lived in the area. They have been consistently good to the point that I did not even look into other options. I trust them! If they can take the care that they always have of my grandmother's china cabinet, moving it like it was their own, that is all I need to know. From the initial estimate, getting boxes from the box man, the movers and the follow up, they were prompt, polite, right on on the estimate, answered all questions, put up with my move anxiety..what more could I ask for. I highly recommend them.

  5. Fantastic service!

    Modern movers did an amazing job moving our stuff from Cape Coral to NC. Everything was exactly as they said it would be and they didn’t over charge us. I would highly recommend this company. Everything arrived without a mark on it and when they said it would! No hidden fees!

  6. Out of State Move.

    Horrible service! Was originally charged to move a grand piano in a separate truck, with a separate charge from that of the household goods. Then they crammed my household goods (11,000 lbs) into an almost full semi. They didn't even have room for their dollies to fit inside, it was so full. When my stuff arrived in the semi, they opened the back door and the grand piano was in there with a lot of spare room in the back. None of my shipment was moved forward, so there should not have been room to spare, never mind the piano at the very back of the truck. Not to mention I was charged AGAIN for the weight/transportation of the piano! Needless to say, A LOT of my items/boxes were missing. Most were things left to me by my parents and grandparents, which can never be replaced. Several high ticket items were also missing. Of the boxes/items that were left, a good 40% were damaged or broken. The driver (who was new, and not a part of the original group in FL) called the office several times to complain, and they hung up on him. This happened in front of me, while he had his phone on speaker! No one from the original packing (FL) was at the delivery end, as is required. Needless to say, the driver quit that day. I would NOT recommend this company to anyone! I would not even give it 1 star, if it were not required!!

  7. Modern Movers.

    They moved us from Florida to Connecticut. The team at the Florida end were very good. Pleasant, efficient and helpfuf. This was not the case at the northern end. They never checked the route before hand and the truck could not make it into our condo complex. They had to rent a truck from Home Depot which was smaller. Thus they had to unload, reload and unload again . No surprise that the badly damaged three items..one an antique. Again no surprise that the three men all denied knowing how it happened. I also found clothing and bed linens shoved in a drawer ..not where they normally belong. How did that happen.The really astounding part is they charged us for the rental of the truck. Seems to us, it was their error but we had to pay.
    If you use them, make sure to take out add'l insurance and request they check the truck route.

  8. Moving entire household.

    The 4 movers that moved our entire home from one side of Naples (moving out of a unit with stairs) to our new home were outstanding. They went out of their way to insure that all the furniture was placed exactly where we wanted it before they left. They completed an inventory to insure all furniture, artwork, etc. that was packed at the original home arrived at its new destination in the same condition as when it was packed. They were prompt arriving to start the job, prepared with boxes and shrink wrap, pads, mats, and the entire home was moved in less than a day. I recommend these folks to anyone. Outstanding, outstanding, outstanding! Thank you!

  9. Damage and Avoiding Claims.

    I keep seeing how they have made changes and things are better now but no!! We had damaged furniture they refused to fix because their guys swear they did do it. Well duh? Why wouldn't they deny it. We filed a claim as asked and 4 weeks later we are still calling without any return calls because the guy that deals with this is in the middle of something at the time of our call. Fat chance they have made changes for the better..more like they have made changes that make them better at avoiding paying claims for damage done by their movers! Don't use this company!! I'll be back to update this as this claim progresses..lets see if they can make this right or not??

  10. Modern Movers.

    I had a very bad experience with Modern Movers.  Initially they moved our stuff into storage and that part was excellent - I was very impressed.  Some years later, after always paying my storage fees, I decided to relocate back to the UK and that was when things went bad.  They took ages to answer emails, were very late in obtaining quotations and dragged their feet even more when I wanted to get a date for shipping out.  I had to threaten legal action at one point to get a response to a routine email.  In the end it took me over four months from asking for a quote to getting my stuff shipped. Absolutely ridiculous customer service.  Avoid at all costs.

  11. The best.

    I have never heard of the this company until I did my research. The office stuff are so honest and friendly. They took care of me all from the begning until the end. They really treated me like family.
    30 years of service they have been doing something right. From the start the mover were nice and respectful and treated my things with care.

    They office provide me with information that other companies did not. This company is so fare.

  12. Quality and Promptness of my move.

    Modern Movers was excellent from start to finish..Bob Broderick was my Sales Rep who not only met all of my needs but he was also extremely professional and helpful with any/all of my questions and concerns.  Also I worked closely with the dispatch department, Suzy, and she met all requirements of mine including pick up and delivery dates.  I highly recommend Modern Movers for any future moves as I know I will definitely be using this company over and over again!!

    I have moved twice in the past 3 years across the country - I was scammed but one company and taken well care of by the Modern Movers!!  What a great experience - they were professional, thorough, and careful.  They were honest and our quote was honored. (the other company increased my bill by $6000 and held my stuff hostage).   You will have no regrets using this company!!

  14. Absolutely HORRID.

    We were moving from TX back to FL and were told to pay 3,300$ After all of our furniture was loaded and already in Fl they jacked that price up to 4,600$ and would not deliver furniture until paid! After mad craziness and we paid our new walls were scuffed left and right!! NEVER EVER WILL USE THEM AGAIN!! I was very disappointed and would highly advise against this company.

  15. Settlement for damages.

    Our complaints with the  pick up and delivery went relatively smooth. But we did have some damages. And that is what this review pertains to. Three weeks after  we got settled and unpacked we took pictures and made notes of several items that were damaged. We mailed this to Modern Movers with no response from them, we began making telephone calls and after several weeks received a check for one-fifth of the cost to repair items that Modern Movers packed. To be more specific in the damages that Modern Movers had packed was scratches on Steinway piano, new clothes dryer bent/damage on top, wood antique bedroom side table scratched, and glass shelf broken.
