Worst moving company out there.
I would never use these guys again nor recommend them for
moving services. The owner quoted me a price of $450-$570 over the phone after I described everything in my apartment to move -- and after the move was complete he hit me with a $740 bill. He used the excuse that "the additional money was because he brought an additional helper" with him for the move (which was not told to me prior to the move taking place - it would be expected that if a company is to bring extra labor they would inform you of it prior instead of just assuming, right?). Additionally, the workers told me their morning job that was scheduled got cancelled, so my job was the only one they had to do that day..which leaves no excuse for charging me for extra help; they scratched the door of my old apartment, broke the drywall in the corners of the hallway leaving my old apartment, and put a 3" dent in the drywall of my new apartment.
During the move, the owner asked me if I would personally drive one of his helpers to my new destination in my own personal vehicle because they couldn't transport him in their own truck (which I did). When I contacted the BBB to file a complaint against him, he blatantly lied and said there was a "flight of stairs" he wasn't aware of, and that he had to "walk 60 yards to have to load the truck" -- Which is a flat out lie, the "flight" of stairs he referenced
is 3 steps that is a step-down from door level to the garage level -- and the entire garage is not even close to 180ft long; I measured the distance from where he would have potentially parked his truck (best case scenario) to where he had to park because he couldn't fit the truck.. and it was 42ft.
I would highly recommend anyone considering finding a low-priced mover that you use a different company and read reviews on them. Im not the only negative review of these guys, there are several others on Yelp and other review sites. To top it off -- his employees told me that he pays under the table (which I've reported to the IRS). So if payroll tax evasion isn't shady enough -- just think that his shady operation isn't contributing one bit to fixing up the town you live in.
The Move that Didn't Happen.
We have used Moody Movers on four different moves, totally about $10,000. Never did we expect a problem. The booking agent who had taken care of all previous moves is no longer employed by Moody and so my dealings were via e-mails with the owner, Scott Moody. There were several e-mails between the initial inquiry, contract, contract acceptance, lists of items, list of additional items (requested by the company) and some thank yous, as well. The last e-mail received from Mr. Moody, he was obviously aggravated for which I wrote a reply saying I didn't menat to "[EDIT] him off'. A couple of days later, my phone rang and it was Scott Moody. I thought he was callingto apologize but instead he was on the phone screaming at me and not allowing me to talk, explaining how I was overwhelming him (this is not my problem). My husband then called him the next day at which point he started to scream and drop the "F" word at my husband more than once. Needless to say, we have fired him before the move even happened and am disgusted at this treatment. I pride myself on always being nice and I have never gotten a call like this one. There is a reason the man's name is Moody! If he can't handle the pressure of running a business, than perhaps he needs to seek another position.
