  1. Try Someone Else

Don't be enamored by a friendly staff and good quote. If there are problems, no one will respond. Check what Better Business Bureau has to say about this Company.

  2. Slow, Dishonest, and broke items.

Do not use this moving service. They were about 6 hours late for their scheduled pick up (scheduled for 3-6, ended up coming around 10:00pm), my shipment took over a month to arrive to my new home, and many items were broken. The actual cost ending up being about $1,000 more than we agreed to on the phone initially. Stay away.

  3. Robbers! Tried to buy my silence for $800!

This company lied and deceived from day one. Late, supposed to be a same day move that took 12 days. My $850 estimate cost $3,300. Unprofessional at every level. No meaningful communication, no empathy, nothing good to say about this company. 50-mile move from MD to DE was worse than moving overseas. After a false charge to reload onto smaller truck (picked up on a smaller truck, driver asked if same day delivery, never showed up, never called to say not delivering, so had to go to warehouse to be put on a smaller truck), they offered to “waive” the $800 fee for reloading if I gave up my right to file a claim, complain to BBB, any rights at all. In an email, not even an official form. Beware before using this company! Would leave zero stars if that was an option.

  4. SCAM!! Horrendous experience.

We requested a move for my apartment because I am starting Med school. I told them what I was moving(bed, chest of drawers, nightstand, desk and chair) and was told that It 850 with 170 Downpayment. They came to pick it up and demanded an extra 600. They said because the tractor trailer can’t get into the area, however big huge cargo trucks for liquor come for the business to deliver and Natalie said this truck can’t go into that area. She then said the road can’t fit the truck and that’s why she increased it to 600. The movers were horrible and said and I quote the employees of the store are not doing anything( because being cashiers and helping customers is not employee job) and they have to help move the furniture. The whole point of movers is for them to move the furniture and not make the customer move it. It was on the first floor furniture so no stairs or anything literally just moving it from the back storage room about 30 feet to the truck. Now, here I am on 8/8 waiting for my movers who were suppose to be here at 9-11. It is my last day before I go to schools and want to spend tome with my dad bc it’s his bday today. I called and they refuse to tell me their name when I talk to them and told me they can’t tell me where they are and what their estimated time of move. I called a couple other numbers they listed and the same womenpickedup for every location even the ones in different states. They harp on being professional and this is not professionalism at all. I drove 2+ hours to move my stuff in early so I can spend my last day home celebrating my dad bday and I am stuck here. Never again will I use this company I am appalled and will be complaining to the BBB. I am in the phone as I type this and the same women who got agitated at me and refused to tell me her name out me on hold then came on and I started my complaint and she Legite put me on hold again. Never again with this company. Don’t worry further action will be taken!!

  5. Don’t fall for this! Warning Warning.

    Stay away from them!

Found them on line they called me right away.

    Moving furniture from 120miles away.

Stated I will give you tge off season special of $850.00 all inclusive.

I went over everything piece of furniture that needed to be moved and reviewed both locations logistics.

He said all I had to do was give him a $170.00 deposit, so I did and booked the move.

OK then the day of the move they arrive and the rip off began.

First the said I had to pay $750.00 more for wrapping padding and a shuttle for delivery. They basically said if I did not sign a new contract they would not deliver. So I paid the $750.00 and they get everything on the truck. Now I was waiting for the truck to arrive at its final destination where I live.

I called and the manager told me that the truck was on its way back to the warehouse to make sure the invoice was correct. That was an hour and a half away from me. (makes no sense)

So I did not get delivery that day.

The following day I called and they told us that we had toPay an additional $600.00 for a shuttle to deliver because a Semi trailer truck would not work at our location .(total fabrication) We asked them if we could not afford the additional paynent what would they do?

They said they would put our furniture in storage and charge is $150.00 per day! (Really)

So we got them down to $300.00.

The total move is now costing $1900.00 instead of $850.00.

We have discovered that use sub contractors. They were great and they were shocked when we showed them our invoice. They said we were charged for a long haul move and our move shiukd not have been classified as such.

The bottom line is stay clear of New City Movers they bait and switch artists! BEWARE.

  6. Worst Moving Company on Land.

Complaint to Better Business Bureau on 6/16 at 10:30AM:

To whom it may concern: When I initially spoke to David Johnson at to New City Movers in May 2020, all was happy dandy, but when it was closer to my move date, he started dodging my calls, he claimed that he doesn't work on Friday's and asked Kelly in customer service called me to confirm my move date and pick up details. details. My moving Now company is City Movers, 4301 E Street, Lincoln NE 68510, Phone: (888) 907-1602, DOT #: 2365170 MC #: 836568 has emotionally distressed me for the past 5 days (from 6/12 - current).

The movers were supposed to arrive on 6/15/2020 at 9AM, they showed up at 11:30AM. They stated that they are only responsible for certain items and will not be taking all of my items to the truck, neither would they assemble or disassemble any of my furniture which is apart of my initial contract!! The main moving guy and I got into a screaming match..he decided to call customer service from my patio and lied and said I was being belligerent, so when they called to speak to me, that conversation didn't go too well. Kelly in customer service started cursing and screaming at me that I need to pay $600 extra..because of shuttle service an cubic feet difderences..she also didn't tell me that I was sharing moving trucks with 2 other families. I almost had a gasket when I found out from Shay in Customer service. I agree to pay the extra $600 and specifically asked if there were any more charges that they are not telling me about..they said no..there's nothing else for you to pay!

They also left the remainder of my items which were 20 pieces in my old apartment and said they were not responsible for taking it to my new place, and that I must call Donald Trump when I threaten to record them! The movers were to arrive in NY at between 1 - 3PM, but they arrived last night (same day of my move) at 9PM and demanding me to pay $200 more in CASH and I refused, so I called 911 immediately. They said this is a civil matter, but it will be recorded. I also called City Movers upon arrival and asked how long will it be before they deliver my items..I was told that Shay when the movers will be handling my account. She said she will find out the details and return my call. After 1 hour later.. I recalled he and she stated that she also had phone issues on 6/15th and claimed that their system had failed, so she called me from her personal phone at four zero four- eight two eight- zero three one zero to get nasty with me and hung up the phone in my ears several times and told me that I will have respect for her..because she deserve respect from everyone..I almost passed out..that conversation didn't go well..she dodged my calls and acted as if I didn't call her earlier..and she didn't know who she was speaking with. I was flabbergasted. I can't believe after a nasty day of emotionally distress from New City Movers they showed up yesterday, 6/15 at 9PM to deliver my furniture and items..who the heck delivers furniture from 1:30PM - 9PM..what were they all day?? Apparently they were busy delivery other people's furniture items ..I am literally shocked at this display. I am emotionally distressed 10 million percent. My blood pressure went through the roof and I almost ended up in the hospital from screaming matches with Kelly, Shay and the movers. While David Johnson was missing in action..because that's how they run their business..they all tried to get more money our of me. I am very sorry, I don't walk around with $200 cash to give any movers or delivery person at 9PM at night!! I wish them the best of luck because I plan to file a lawsuit if I don't receive my items asap. I WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND ANYONE TO NEW CITY MOVERS, New City Movers, 4301 E Street, Lincoln NE 68510, Phone: (888) 907-1602, DOT #: 2365170 MC #: 836568.

  7. Dishonest Company.

What this company tells you to make the sell is completely different than what happens. We told them how full our storage locker was. When they showed up on moving day they said there was more there than previously quoted and would charge for extra items at the much higher same day of move cost. They had told us "no problem" that some of the items were not packed. When they showed up, they told us there would be an additional $600 for packing. They told us that our items would be received from 1 to 10 days of pick up. We called multiple times. They finally arrived 30 days after pickup after going to Chicago storage and then storage in Texas. When they finally arrived, an antique chair was broken, several storage tubs cracked with about 10 ceramic plates or items broken. The original quote for was $1,430. We ended up paying $3,300. This company should not be trusted!

  8. Nasty company.

You will work with someone to book your move and never hear from them again. Any issues you run into you will have to deal with Tina and her nasty manager who will scream and yell at you, put you on hold indefinitely, or just hang up on you. Do yourself a favor and DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. Absolutely abysmal practices and customer service. They will quote you something low only to charge you over double on the back end. RUN.
