  1. Very satisfied with service.

The nice crew did a great job and like others company when they saw am English man. They ask me double but they ask a very reasonable amount with them I have a great time very satisfied with service.

  2. Quicker than expected.

The guys moved us around a year ago and did a great job. Quick, efficient and careful.
We will need to call them again soon, as we need to move again in a few weeks!

  3. Scam.

Avoid this company like the plague!! Lost items, arrived late, added unforeseen costs. Used rental trucks to move belongings. Got really uncomfortable vibes from the people hired to work for them.

  4. Refusal to take responsibility for damage and make good on paying.

We contracted with another company. Since the contracted could not get on to the USAFA CO due to driver's driving record the contracted company booked with Northwestern Van Lines to pickup our household goods. When they finally arrived, six hours late, we were immediately told that we had more cubic feet than quoted an it would cost more. We were in a bind since it was so late in day and a final inspection on the house we were renting we felt we had little to no choice but to go with Northwestern. Also our internet had been disconnected and had no way to check on this company. We had 881 cu ft of goods and were charged for 1100 cu ft. We made calls on the day after pickup and continually called their office to see when delivery would take place. Most of the time there was no answer and when confronted with questions very little was answered. There were assurances that return calls would be made but that did not happen. If it were not for the fact that one of our sons lived in the Denver area and was able to go to the office and warehouse, we probably would still not have our household goods. It took them 15 days to deliver the household goods and furniture. There was some damage to some of the
We did measure each box as well as all furniture to get an accurate measurement of what was loaded and delivered.
Once we were able to calculate the difference of what we had and were charged the manager/dispatcher was contacted and told that were overcharged by over $700 and damage was done to some of the furniture, the reply was "take me to court."
They have our money and don't have the decency to make right of what went wrong.

  5. Very bad experience.

My husband and I moved in november 2015. having never made a long distance move, I was overwhelmed by trying to find a moving company. I had no idea that it would be so expensive and there were just so many different places. I went online to one of those sites that gives you multiple quotes from different companies..I wouldn't suggest it unless you want at least 15 calls and emails a day (up to 5 months later!!). so I checked out northwestern van lines and spoke with one of thier reps. he seemed very nice, knowledgeable and helpful, but what I didn't realize is that he was a salesman. he told me everything I wanted/needed to hear and I believed him. he told me that we should only need a certain amount of space on the truck for the items that I had marked and that would help with the cost. well I was all for that. he also told me some ways to save $$ with self wrapping our furniture ourselves, which we did. on the day of our pick up (tuesday) we got a call that they were running behind on another job and wouldn't be able to come until the next day. when they got there on wednesday one of the guys came and looked at everything and said it would cost more because it would take up more space than the rep had figured. then he said that some of our things weren't wrapped correctly (even though I did them as the rep had told me to) and had to be re-wrapped and packed. so we were charged another $700 for extra space in the truck and for packing materials. now these are supposed to be professional movers, however when they were moving my large refridgerator out of the kitchen they not only scratched and dented the fridge, but they put a very large scrape and hole in the wall. not only all of that, but whenever they finished packing I asked them about a few pieces of furniture they had not taken and was told that the lead guy had not marked it off on the list and they wouldn't be taken. I was given a number of a dispatcher and told that I could call in a day and find out approximately when our things would be delivered. they originally told me 3-4 days. when I called thursday I only got a voicemail and I didn't recieve a call back until friday afternoon. they told me that the truck had picked up our things and that we would be called by the driver on saturday. I didn't hear anything on saturday which was distressing to me because I had expected to get a call. I called back on sunday and left multiple messages and even sent an email to the sales dept. I finally recieved a call from the salesman and he had the dispatch contact me with the drivers number. after a few tries I finally got in touch with the driver who told me he should be there by tuesday. tuesday afternoon came and I hadn't heard anything so I called the driver again and left a message. when he got back to me he told me that weather had held him up and he would be at our house by 5. he didn't show up until 7 then said he had to wait for his guys to come unload because he couldn't do it himself. an hour later he was still sitting with the truck in our street and said that there was some kind of problem with his guys and that he would have to come back in the morning. I was ready to have a breakdown at this point because all I wanted was to get my things and put them in my house. the next morning he came with his helper and they were actually capable and efficient in unloading and getting everything in the house, which is probably the only positive thing I can say about the whole experience. all in all I was lied to, had things damaged, was expected to pay $700 more, and was not kept informed about where my things were. this company may quote you a lower price but please, please, please don't fall for it. I wish I would've paid a little more to have a known reputable company move my things for me. I just hope this helps someone learn from my costly and nerve wracking experience.

  6. Northwestern Van Lines is a SCAM.

This company is a total scam. It took me 6 months to get my things delivered and it was only traveling 1500 miles within the US!
They had one company pick up my stuff and upon arrival the bill was $500 more then expected, come to find out the Mexicans that picked it up only pocket that money and that information came from the Federal Motors Carriers Assn.
then they held my stuff hostage in a storage location for no apparent reason. I ended up having to call around to get the FMC Assn involved only to find out all these outfits work together and they scam people daily!
My stuff finally shows up 6 months later and they wanted cash on the dot before they would unload. I'm still missing 3 large boxes of items and the company won't return any phone calls just like they have always done. Oh and I forgot to mention when my stuff did show up all the containers were broken and all my glassware was mangled and broke.

WORST COMPANY EVER TO DEAL WITH!

  7. As bad as it gets.

I was told by the sales person that booked my delivery that it would take 2.5 weeks tops for my things to be delivered. It ended up being more than double that amount of time due to "weather." It was a frightening experience using Northwestern Van Lines as during the entire 40 days they had my possessions I had to call at least 7 different times checking in on the moving progress. Each time the operator was confused, and gave me no details as to anything about my belongings.

Untimely when the truck arrived the driver was rude and short with me. It was like he was doing me a favor moving my stuff. It was raining the day the truck pulled up to my house, and when the driver opened the truck door a flood of water came rushing out. Needless to say I was very concerned about the state of my possessions.

The shady part about my shipment was that the driver demanded cash payment first before they started unloading. Once they got their money they began moving my possessions but the damage was done. All my cloths and some of books were wet and destroyed due to the leaky truck.

After getting all my boxes inside and opening them up I realize that a box was missing. I called Northwestern Van Lines customer service, and got no help. They directed to me to a third party site to file a "claim for lost goods." All I want is my box of cloths back, and they won't even do the courtesy of searching their warehouse or calling the other customers sharing the delivery truck to see if they miss delivered my box.

The whole process was very frustrating. I was left in the dark about the delay in shipment. All said I done I feel like I was scammed. For all I know someone at Northwestern Van Lines just wanted to keep a box of my cloths and they can just tell me to kiss off.

I recommend you DO NOT use Northwestern Van Lines as there are many other national moving companies that offer the same service as the same price, but with better care.

  8. Scam.

You get a quote on the phone and then call a couple of days before your scheduled move to go over the inventory again. When your furniture is on the truck you end up paying double. I do see where some things may not have been accounted for, but double? It was to be delivered on Jan 25th. We were rehabbing a house . On Jan 20th the rehab on our house was behind so we called the company to see if we could extend the delivery. They assured us that was okay, schedule had not yet been made out for that area. We rescheduled to Feb 1, one week later. We did not get the name of the person we spoke with. Interestingly, on Jan 26 we get a call from the company saying they would deliver on Jan 27th in the evening. We scrambled but worked everything out. They made an evening delivery. We had a cashier's check from the bank ready for them. They would only accept cash!! As the banks were closed I could not get the cash and they would not unload the truck. They sat on the street all night in front of our house until we could get $2500 cash the next morning. The drivers slept in the truck and charged us an extra $400. What a scam! Northwestern also told us they use their own delivery vans. They do not!!

  9. Worst Moving Experience EVER!

Don't use this company! They will scam you! Really nice when you book and give you a good rate. They arrive to pick up your belongings and you never hear from them again until day before they deliver. I called and emailed them without return phone calls or emails. They doubled my original price and damaged brand new furniture. They tell you they own their trucks but show up in rental trucks. They say they will take money order on delivery but what kind of reputable company only deals in cash? I had to rush to the bank to get cash at 5:00 on a Friday afternoon.

The driver didn't want to see the damaged furniture. The people at the "company" don't answer your calls once they have your belongings and if you do get lucky they won't tell you where your stuff is or when it will be delivered they keep stating they have 21 BUSINESS days not from pick up but from when you want delivery! REport them to BBB and Attorney Generals Office so they don't scam others. I have read so many nightmares since they took my stuff. Thank goodness I have it back but will have to get some things repaired! I haven't unpacked all the boxes so there could be missing items not sure. The driver didn't want me to check off the items as he took them off the truck but I told him we were going to do that.
