  1. Long-distance move

Quote went from $1600 to over $6000 when they arrived! I saw them lower my golf clubs (and bag) into a box and never saw them again!! They said should have bought insurance. Their company is the only one with access to cargo. Their insurance should pay me. I'm a dentist. I don't tell my patients to get THEIR OWN insurance when they come to see me, I provide ALL insurance for my business!! These guys are crooks.

  2. Disaster moving company

Arrived at my house in Connecticut and immediately wanted to charge $1,000 more than their quote. Even though my inventory was exactly as listed. Stay away from these folks like the plague. They'll screw you. I speak the truth.

  3. Communication & Helpfulness

I hired this company back in July 2020. The price I was estimated over the phone, then at the walk thru was just about the same that I paid on moving day! The only reason that the price increased was because of MY preference to keep my electronics more safe during transport. I was given the option though....

Fast forward to yesterday, my items have been housed at their warehouse since this time due to personal issues. My bill is paid consistently each month with no issues from the company. I needed to remove some items from section in their warehouse and did not realize it would be such an annoyance for the workers. (I actually felt bad because they had my stuff packed and tucked away so nicely and here i go needing the box allll the way in the back underneath EVERYTHING)....

I did not realize that access to my belongings was limited and the men helped me by taking down all my boxes and crap in order to find what i needed. It was not easy or a one, two, three thing. I feel like they went out of their way to help me!

I see a lot of negative reviews so i just wanted to show my appreciation to you guys at Olympus Moving! And i am never one to write reviews lol but you guys deserve your credit!

  4. TERRIBLE COMPANY! HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE!

    NEVER AGAIN!

Normally, I never write reviews, but in this case, it's pertinent that I save other individuals from the trauma and headaches dealing with this company.

I dealt with terrible customer service and over hundreds of dollars in hidden fees. I read the reviews before booking but had I known that Olympus moving would be so shady, and I would've instantly gone with another moving company.

Backstory: I worked with Olympus Moving back a month or so before my out-of-state move. Kim was my POC however I'd connected with over 10 different representatives after paying the initial deposit. Many of these conversations consisted of me repeating myself as they were all very unbelievably unprofessional.  While I booked with Olympus moving, ANOTHER COMPANY moved my items out-of-state. Very shady, especially when my contract was direct with the Olympus moving (the original company). Upon arrival, the new moving company complained about the distance it'll take for them to move my things into my apartment. I should also reiterate that they were very late and wasted my entire day because they were unable to provide me an ETA for delivery. During this time, I was on the phone with Olympus moving who instructed me to pay them (Olympus Moving) instead of the new company who'd delivered my items. The movers were instructing me to pay them. I paid the company who'd delivered my items and a month later, I am now receiving calls from Olympus Moving informing me that I didn't provide the exact amount. In fact, I provided well-over the agreed-upon amount, including a tip. Sorry for the novel, but again...it's important to read all the reviews before booking with such a shady company.

  5. Horrible experience!

This was one of the most infuriating experiences I’ve ever had. Olympus is not only disorganized and poor at communicating with customers, they don’t even talk to each other. We were given a widow of 4-10 business days for our stuff to arrive and after 9 days with no update we called and were told it would be that weekend. THEN we get informed after everything should have arrived that it will be at the end of the next week.

Despite our stuff arriving an entire week late, we were assured we would be “compensated”. Compensation was counted at $62 per business day, which conveniently took advantage of the three-day weekend to not even give us the full amount we were actually delayed. This amounted to about 3% of what we paid and was completely offset by the random fees they applied at the door.

We were already charged substantially more than we were quoted, which I can understand since we do have a decent amount of stuff and no other mover did a much better job of quoting our cubic footage. But despite giving our updated address (on the phone and in writing!) four different times to the sales and admin teams, nobody informed the driver who called us the day before with the wrong address. When we corrected him, he informed us he would need to look at our street to make sure his truck would fit. He did not and showed up at another incorrect address before finally arriving a block from our apartment complaining that his truck was too large for our street and we would need to pay an additional $500 for a shuttle and wait an additional day. After explaining that our stuff was already a week late and that nobody had told us we’d need a shuttle, he dismissed it as a footnote in the contract and said that he would pull the massive truck up but that we would be responsible for any fines.

Then with the truck there and movers waiting, he tells us we owe an additional $275 for the fact we were on the 2nd floor, which again, we had already told the company repeatedly. So even after getting a money order for our final delivery, a requirement we weren’t notified of until 8pm the night before, I had to run out to get cash to pay twice the amount we had even been discounted in the first place just to make sure our stuff was not held hostage.

The actual movers were fine. The guys that came to Queens were helpful and the gentlemen that moved us outside the city were perfectly pleasant; but even with that said we still ended up with damage to a few pieces of furniture and had to throw out several broken glasses when we finally got to unpack.

Working with Olympus was an infuriating process after we had signed the contract. You might be tempted to go with them as you’ll probably receive the best quote and friendly service from the initial sales rep, but you’ll almost certainly pay much more than that and have to play a guessing game to figure out when or if you’ll ever get your stuff.

    Find someone else.

  6. Long Distance Move from NY to Charlotte.

Everyone is to polite and inviting when initial call is made. Forget that! I was pressed to move. They were so awful, it would take my two page letter to complain. They asked for more money the day of the move. They asked for cash. They moved my stuff in two separate moves costing me about 10,000 dollars. The damaged my furniture.Unreliable irresponsible. Their response "you should have brought insurance.Hated It!

  7. Liars And Thieves - do Not Use This Company.

Although we read all of the reviews of Olympus as well as those for several other moving companies, and we knew that they all had some good and some bad reviews, we chose Olympus for our long distance move based on two in-person, verbal assurances of their on-site appraiser, Adam Levy. Those assurances were (1) that the move was based on cubic feet and not on any inventory list, whether the first, emailed list or a revised once items had been packed or even on the one created on the day of the move; thus, it was our understanding that the cost would never go above the outside figure of $2,630 unless we exceeded the 600 cubic feet allotted to us in the truck; and (2) that our items would be placed on the same truck that would be the delivery truck – we were assured that Olympus, unlike all the rest of the movers we interviewed, would not be storing our items elsewhere until the time of the move or would be sub-contracting our move and therefore our items to another company and its truck. Both assurances were LIES! Not only did the cost of the move increase by an excessive amount but we were told by the foreman as well as workers in the office with whom we spoke by phone on the day of the move, that the cost was based on the inventory items. None of these people could tell us if we had actually exceeded the 600 cubic feet – in fact, all of them, bar none, would never even address our question and concern about the cubic feet as opposed to the inventory. They just all glossed over our question and continually argued their point that there were more items in the inventory on the day of the move than was anticipated. But that should NOT have mattered because we were assured that the cost would only increase if we exceeded the 600 cubic feet! We asked the foreman several times if we had in fact exceeded the 600 cubic feet and he could not or would not answer – he just kept referring to the inventory list. In addition, we were told by the foreman on the day of the move that the truck our items had been loaded on would NOT be the truck delivering to Colorado! So, once again, let buyers beware! Olympus, like all the others, cannot be trusted, would not stand by a good faith verbal assurance and are just in it for the money and the ability to scam people who, by all accounts, don’t want to cancel their move at the last minute and remove their own items from the truck. This was the ridiculous, but truly scam-worthy, alternative they offered to us since we were arguing with the foreman and did not want to accept and sign the agreement with the additional and much larger amount due. Failing a resolution about the cost and the cubic feet we acquiesced and signed the agreement, hoping to be able to take our complaints and concerns up at a later date with the manager/owner of Olympus. Thus began a serious but fruitless back and forth with the manager and several other employees of Olympus in an attempt to get them to see why we felt scammed. To no avail. DO NOT believe them when they say your move is based on cubic feet! DO NOT believe them when they say your outside cost will never be higher! They LIE!

  8. Horrible Experience!

Do NOT use this company. We experienced problem after problem during our move. To begin with, the price that we were quoted and originally agreed to changed upon pickup - BUYER BEWARE! Next, the delivery was subcontracted out to another company; it is not "Olympus Moving and Storage professional, uniformed movers" that move your belongings, it was some random individuals that loaded up the truck. The company was supposed to inform me when my belongings were on their way to the destination. They failed to do this and I didn't receive any notice about the status of my delivery until the afternoon before it was scheduled to arrive. Upon arrival at the destination another person showed up, by himself, to unload my belongings and he told me that he did not work for Olympus either. My husband had to help him unload the truck because he couldn't do the job by himself. Items were missing and nobody wanted to take responsibility for them. Sam, the owner of Olympus Moving and Storage, is rude and disrespectful. He doesn't allow the customer to tell their side of the story nor does he want to help rectify any issues. He talks over you when you try to explain what is going on and has an "answer" for everything. I don't know how this company stays in business - they are totally unprofessional from beginning to end. They will tell you what you want to hear but not live up to any of your expectations or promises that they make. They are LIARS!!

  9. Great moving company.

The crew of 4 arrived on time, were polite and worked hard and fast. They wrapped our furniture first with blankets and then in boxes to ensure no damage. Extremely happy with this company!

  10. Terrible.

Where to begin. What a Rip off. So I had to move cross country and this company can back with the best price per cubic feet. In addition, I decided to get the "on-site estimate". The estimator came to the house when we had everything packed in the garage. It was actually already packed for a few weeks and in our garage. We told him only this stuff right here. The estimator notice we had about 8 bags full of clothes that we were going to bring in the car with us when we drove. He said that it wouldn't cost that much to ship, it only looks about 40 cubic feet but we need to put it all in boxes. He said he will add the an extra 40 cubic feet for the clothes, if we still decide to drive with them then we will have a little extra room in the truck. So the estimator wrote down the inventory said he will do us favor and over estimate the cubic feet so we aren't charged extra, then added an extra 40 feet on to the estimate total. On the day of pick up, the pick up driver looks around and says there is no way the estimator saw these clothes and to ship them would be an additional $600. Which makes absolutely no sense because it was 6 boxes, each was 8 cubic feet and they charge $4 per cubic foot which would total 192. He also said that they NEVER add additional cubic feet and basically that I have nothing but my word that says he added it on. He also was now picking things up like a few painting and the bigger baby toys and said that they all need to be in boxes or he isn't taking them, even though they are on the inventory. He kept saying that I must have added stuff to it after. He then says "the inventory says 32 medium boxes so that's all I am taking" Now of these 32 medium boxes, 6 of them were less than a cubic foot (a box of greeting cards, a box of small trinkets etc.) I thought I was paying per cubic feet? Each medium box is supposed to be 6 cubic feet. So why am I now getting charged per item? After many hours of arguing, we finally agree to take the clothes ourselves in our car. Mind you now we are still being charged for the extra 40 cubic feet that we aren't utilizing. There were 4 other people from my husbands company that was moving to texas as well. ALL 4 of them had a on-site estimate and the same guy who picked up our stuff picked up theirs. All 4 of them weren't there at pick up since they were at work so they weren't there to observe what was going on. All for of them were charged hundreds of dollars more than their estimates. I would have given them 1 star but the drop off crew was very pleasant. I have a 9 month old who was napping and they were sure to be very quiet and didn't wake her. That was the only good part about the whole experience. The manager is of no help either btw, he is rude and speaks to you as if you are an invalent. Keeps saying that it wasn't on the list (the clothes), even though the list didn't add up to the cubic feet of the estimate, I even added together the cubic feet of each item on the inventory and it didn't even hit 350, yet we were charged for 420. He keep saying how they never have ANY complaints, then he would say that it's always the small jobs that cause problems. So which is it buddy? What a joke that guy is. Honestly we would have cancelled the whole thing be we were so pressed on time by that point, so they took advantage of us. The best part is that a few days later we noticed a few items that we saw them pick up and load on the truck were now back in our garage behind some shelving. These people are a rip off. DO NOT USE.

  11. Beware of This Company.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! I have moved across 5 different states and have used several moving companies always with great results - until Olympus! They broke my leather couch. They severely mishandled my boxes and broke the contents. They were very unprofessional and rude over the phone. They took 2 weeks longer than expected and charged me almost $1000 over the quote. I honestly could not believe the condition my things were in when they arrived. I learned my lesson the hard way using this company.

  12. Worst service.

First of all these people don't deserve even one star. I had a bad experience with these so called professional movers. When I called for an estimate the person came in promptly, had a look at the whole apartment and gave a quote for $2600. On the day of moving they came in and  fore man came in with 3 other people whco look like street dwellers. The foreman was rude and gets frustrated for everything and was rude enough to shout at us .He threatened to unload all the boxes whcih were loaded to the truck if we don't allow him to pack his own way. He argued a lot and unloaded the whole truck and left. I had no option  but to call the office and  request them to end someone else .They came in again and charged double the money quoted , $4417. This is not the end , but just the beginning. They take all the stuff and didn't deliver it to me  till 10 days( promised to deliver in 8 days) . When I called them  they were saying that my  stuff is in the storage and they are not sure when they can deliver. I  was helpless and  had to lodge a complain to BBB  and also Federal trade comission , and mailed them that I have to involve law enforcement  as they were holding up my goods  indefinitely . Then comes a call from  the manager who pleads that the stuff will be sent  as soon as possible and that they will give discount . 5 days after they arrive with my stuff and I ended up paying the whole money . No discount nothing. These people are totally unprofessional, have no ethics, and lure customers with lower quotes and then  on the day of moving  when you don't have option  they jack up your bill and  see the  drama going. So people you might have got a clear picture of what these people are. Dont get impresses by seeing the website. Thats the only good thing they have. The manager is also a fraud who gives false information .He outrightly lied to BBB  saying that he has rendered services which he didn't.

  13. Quick work.

When I moved from Los Angeles to San Antonio , I realized how quickly Olympus movers and packers company work. We did a four bedroom move from Los Angeles to San Antonio . It included two big screen TVs, two large octagon shaped picnic tables and a ton of stuff  which I had packed. The team came in and our move was done 1.5 hr quicker than I was expecting.

  14. Excellent customer service.

Moving is always a stressful time.  Even though I was moving within NYC, it was still stressful.  I was glad to choose Olympus Moving and Storage as they are extremely professional with their customer service.  Their movers are also professional in appearence and they are careful with my things when moving. I will recommend them to anyone who needs a moving company!

  15. Greg Collins.

This is a first rate moving company!  Moving is incredibly stressful and complicated and Olympus relieved more of that stress than I could have imagined.  They were professional, honest, committed to the outstanding price quotes, and most importantly took care of our belongings.  Leaving the moving and handling of your possessions to someone else is a nerve wracking affair but Olympus was outstanding.  I never once felt like just another customer - I felt like their only customer!  You will not be disappointed by hiring Olympus.
