Nightmare Ripoff
We were stuck with One Way after our move was subbed out to them by Landmark Moving. One Way changed our pick up date, took over 9 hours to load the truck, were 10 days late delivering our truck, lost & destroyed items, had horrible dispatch service, & gave us an insulting settlement check that in no way, reimbursed us for the loss. Do not use this company period.
Absolute SCAM
One Way is a SCAM with extremely poor customer service. They broke my TV, coffee table and every control panel for the exercise equipment I own (to name a few). They lost a 150 gallon aquarium and then found it MIRACULOUSLY on the day I submitted my claim. It is now over two weeks later and I still cannot get word about a refund for the shipping cost on the missing items and they are trying to execute this additional move under the same contract as the original move. They will give you a 21 business day guarantee and then when they fail to meet that timeline (like in my case) then pretend they never told you that. Everything has to go through the GM but they take over two weeks to 'have enough time' to review the request. Guess you guys have that many complaints huh?
To say that this was the worst experience I have ever had would be an understatement and I have already filed a BBB complaint for their shady practices. Save your money and just throw your property away before using this company. They will either damage it or lose it anyways.
My move cost me over 7K and the damages alone have cost me in excess of 10k. Pay for the extra insurance. They couldn't care less about your property or abiding by contractually requirements.
Absolute trash company.
Horrendous experience
One Way is the worst moving company I have ever experienced (and I have moved 5 times in the past 10 years). Plan on paying double of what your quote is and then some. THey broke my antique table, destroyed a mattress and did not deliver some of the boxes. DO NOT GO WITH ONE WAY - it is a disaster!
Horrible experience
Gateway Express is a scam brokerage firm - with great salesmen and no quality. Jared and CJ are liars who will tell you anything to get you to sign - including sob stories about being Vets. They are a disgrace and not to be trusted. Gateway Express subcontracted our move out to two other companies - One Way Movers and Diamond Movers. Both of these companies were equally as horrible. We paid a lot of money and were told our furniture would arrive in 5 days. It took 3 weeks and several items were damaged and missing. One Way packed us in NJ and unloaded our stuff to a warehouse in Baltimore MD for two weeks. From there, our items were loaded onto a Diamond Movers truck that could barely run and indeed broke down on the way to FL causing more delays. When they finally arrived, the crew apologized but said 'this always happens and we have to deal with irate customers!' They refused to take anything off the truck until final payment - in cash - was received because they knew from experience what would happen. Once we realized how much was missing and damaged - we were told to contact the insurance company. Jared 'sold' me the insurance - guaranteeing me his company was so careful - I would never need to use it. I put in a claim for almost $2000 of damaged and missing items - they offered me $120! Several calls to Gateway Express, One Way Movers, Diamond movers and the insurance company (CSI)have all gone unanswered. I am currently working with an attorney to recoup some of my losses. Stay away from this company! i wish I would have done more research before I signed with them! Don't make the same mistake we did!

Find out how
Be ready to end up paying double the agreement!
First, they come in with the full intention of charging you more than what you originally agreed upon. They use all the holes in the contract you've signed to increase the fees. They'll tell you you had more volume than what was "estimated" and you have no way to know. Then they'll try to charge you for stairs (even though it's already mentioned on the contract. They'll try to charge you for any piece of tape they might use, etc. After all that, they will trash your stuff. They tell you they'll unassemble, assemble, and blanket-wrap your furniture, all included in the contract. STRAIGHT LIE. We received EVERYTHING damaged. The sofa is broken and we're still filing claims with their claim center. Overall, it was a disaster. I have had many long-distance moves (CA to PA, PA to Canada, Canada to WA). Anything bad you could imaging may happen while dealing with movers happened with them. Would not recommend them whatsoever.
Couldn't be worse
You won't find a worse mover than these guys. They plowed their moving truck into my dad's yard and tore through ground cover and bushes, then refused to pay the $730 bill. These are the last guys you want to hire.
Horrible Experience
Do not ever use this service or company! I am not one to complain. I’ve never written a negative review in my life but this experience has been so bad that I HAVE to warn others. This company LIES to you. They will promise you anything to get you to put down a deposit. They told me they would deliver my things from Maryland to Florida in 4 days. They took an entire month. They also broke hundreds of dollars of my items, they sent movers to my house both times that spoke no English or Spanish at all so I couldn’t even explain to them what to take, where to put things, what was broken, or ask any questions. They will also take your things then call you two days later and extort you for more money. Claiming your items took up more room that anticipated. NOT TRUE I paid for 350 cubic feet and I pre-measured my stuff at 300 cubic feet. And the movers packed it even tighter in the truck. They literally told me to give them 700 extra dollars or I will not ever receive my things. On top of that the office staff is insanely rude. Just a complete 0/10 experience. NEVER USE THEM. You will regret it!!!!!!
VA instate move.
Not recommended- Company arrived late from the initial scheduled time and also for the 2nd. trip, truck was to small resulting in a second trip the next day. Items were dropped resulting in gouge damage to dining table, antique trunk, living room coffee table, several picture frames. Outside front door was dented and door frame gouged by bumping of furniture. Clothes washing and dryer were not hooked up at new house. Moving cost estimate was greatly exceeded by approx. 3K. When credit card was used to pay 2nd. payment (after first truck was loaded) company charged 7% extra fee for use of credit card. Company was very slow in paying for damages tom furniture. We have moved nine times previous to this move, this was worst ever.
Terrible customer service. unethical business.
Terrible customer service. I moved across the country to help Veterans suffering with Covid19 infections. Oneway Van Lines, LLC damaged my clothes washer. I replaced it with a cheap used one. I requested the $200 I spent to replace it. Oneway Van Lines, LLC refused. The General Manager refused to speak to me. He informed his employee that they would not honor the claim without pictures. The old broken one was hauled away! I just paid them several thousand dollars and he acted like I was "scamming" the company for a $200 used washing machine. Unethical, dishonest and just bad business.
Careless, destructive truck drivers.
The One Way truck drivers looked like they were strong, but several items were damaged and they were supposed to send us a refund, but never did and we never got our deposit back. Don't use this company, their drivers were very careless with our furniture. Bottom legs of expensive entertainment center were never found or returned to us. Don't let them rip you off like they did to us. We never got the check they promised to send us for the damage done to our property. Do not use this company!!
Stole my Deposit.
When I first called One Way Vanlines, I was quickly given information, a quote and very friendly service. I made a $220 deposit immediately. The next day, I had to cancel services and everything with the company changed. I was spoken to rudely on the phone, hung up on and my e-mails were ignored. My cancellation fell within their cancellation criteria and I was/am 100% entitled to a refund without question. I finally received a text message over a week later stating that my "refund was approved" and it would take "3-5 business days" to receive.. this was in June 2019. It is now nearing the end of September 2019, and I still NEVER received the refund. I filed a complaint with Better Business Bureau in June 2019 and this company lied in their response and said a refund was given. My bank has also confirmed this was not true. I have since filed a chargeback with my bank, sent continuous e-mails and made several phone calls. No reply. No refund. I have now had to hire a lawyer to rectify this matter.
This company also had my previous Yelp review deleted in July 2019.
Don't take my word for it.. just take a look at most of the reviews on Yelp or on other websites about this company and see for yourself..
One Way Van Lines is unprofessional, unresponsive and will try to pile.
When loading my belongings into the truck at pick-up, the team did extra packaging (bubble wrap, etc) that they then charged me for. They did not ask me if I wanted to do that (even though I was present the whole time) and I assumed it was a part of the moving/packing estimate I'd negotiated with the company. When I was charged an extra $325, the company representatives refused to discuss any solution. I was told that it was my word against that of their employees and "there was nothing they could do". After multiple attempts to call and email the manager, I filed a claim with my credit card to refuse the charge. Only THEN did I get a prompt reply telling me that I couldn't file a claim for damages while I still owed them money.
And yes, my belongings were damaged. Multiple boxes squished (even those clearly marked fragile) and two bookcases cracked/shelves broken.
In addition, despite multiple requests for an estimated arrival, I received only 6 hours’ notice of delivery and had to leave work early. The truck traveled from Baltimore to Kansas City, leaving what most would assume is plenty of time to update me that the truck was on its way and to estimate an arrival day. Yet I received ZERO communication until the day of.
Do not hire this company.
My move from NJ to VA.
First, they underestimate the charge so I would give them the business. The total charge ended up to be 2X of what they estimated. When I reported to them that they damaged my wood floor when they came to pick up the furniture, they said for me to get two estimates; which were $1800 and $2000. They said they would only give me $250.00 for the repair.
When they delivered my furniture, I found that they damaged my piano, mahogany table, tea cart.. When I reported all the damage, they referred me to their insurance company. But after I file the claim, the insurance company said that they could not process the claim because One Way Van Line would not open the port for they to process the claim. When I talked to OWVL, they claimed that this insurance company was not good, and told me to file it through another insurance company. When I filed it, OWVl claimed that I signed a settlement not to hold them responsible for anything. So the insurance company will not pay anything. Remember the $250.00 that they were going to give me for the damaged floor, they asked me to sign a settlement not to make any more claim for it. In the settlement, there was an "intent" for this settlement, and it specifically said it was "for the damaged floor only". But they told the insurance company that it was for everything. The insurance company will listen to them only, even though I forwarded the paper that I signed to them.
OWVL has been very dishonest at every step of this move. I want everyone who considered using them to be aware of what this company is like.
Outstanding experience!
Outstanding experience! The movers came up by 7:30 am and did not waste time before they started packing. The wrapped my items in a professional manner. They were also fast and careful. I had 2 large furniture and they handled them perfectly. They as well delivered my things in a good mode. I liked their work and would use them again if there's need.
Amazing experience!!
Packed our stuff and migrated us from Minnesota to Washington DC on 4/12/2019. The office staff and out-workers of ONE WAY VAN LINES were well-performing. They maintained their promises and delivered quality service. We got our stuff in good condition and we appreciate all their good work!
