Bad News!!
I hired Reliable to move me from Taft to Bakersfield in July. They were very nice and showed on time moving day. I had them store all my furniture in a garage where it sat until today. We had a short move so decided to do it ourselves. Many, many pieces of our furniture is broken. A marble top coffee table they broke the legs off!! My husband did notice them putting our furniture sideways in the moving truck and asked them to not do that. One guy said you get 30 cents a pound if we break your stuff. So they don't care if it breaks at 30 cents a pound!! I am soooo disappointed in the care they gave our furniture that was passed down to us. It is not replaceable and Reliable does not treat your furniture with care. I will NEVER use them again!!
Terrible experience.
I was moving from Bakersfield, CA to Green Bay, WI and decided to go through a moving service in order to lessen the stress with the move. Reliable moving and storage made the experience more stressful at every turn. Marti came to my apartment to do a quote, and was only there for about 5 minutes, and seemed as though she couldn't wait to leave. When I got my quote, it seemed to be a pretty fair price, just under $3,000. I was also clear up front with her that I would not be present when the movers came to pick up and pack my things, and she said this would be no issue at all. When the movers arrived, I was already in Green Bay, and received a call from Reliable telling me that there was way more packing than they had signed up for, and that I had to be present otherwise they would not pick up my things. Marti, my salesperson was out of the country on vacation. This was 3 days before my lease was up and I needed to have my things out of the apartment. They transferred me directly to dispatch since the Customer service rep could not answer my questions at all. When I talked to dispatch he said it would be impossible for them to pick up that day, and would have to do it the next day, and I would need to have either myself, or an agent of myself present to sign the papers, stating that a fax back and forth would not work. Also, the price would have to be increased by "at least $500" due to all the excess packing (which I was very clear about during the quote). Since I had to have my things out that day, I had no choice but to accept. Later on, I found an apartment in Green Bay, but it would be the week after the scheduled delivery, so I called to ask if there was any way they could store my things for an extra week to sort of make it up to me for jacking up the price at pick up. When I asked Marti about this, she said absolutely no problem. The next day she had the balls to call me and tell me the rate for United Van Lines would go up $52 due to the changed dates. After I went off on her and told her they needed to cover this difference she said she would talk to her manager. About an hour later, I got a call back from some other Rep at Reliable who said she had just finished processing my date change in United's system, and that I would actually save just over $200 by delaying the delivery and being flexible. All I could think was where in the hell did Marti Jerri get an extra $52 from?? So the thesis is, try try try to use someone else if you are moving long distance from the Central Valley of California. Although United Van Lines is very reputable, their agent in Bakersfield, Reliable Moving and Storage, is totally incompetent. When I moved to California I rented a truck and moved it all myself. After that I assumed a moving service would be easier. I was wrong, at least in this case with Reliable. At least all my stuff made it undamaged I guess..
