  1. Great Move with River City Movers.

This is the third time River City has moved my family, and we're extremely grateful. Great job!! I highly recommend this Family owned company.

  2. They Don't Even Deserve One Star.

The price ended up being $300 over the estimate. They drug a dresser across our newly refinished hardwood floors and left a horrible gouge. They took the gas spring and bracket off of our front door, left it apart, and the pin is missing. They tore up the water lines to the refrigerator ice maker in both houses. For some unknown reason they turned off the hot water in the new house. The scratched the freshly painted walls in multiple places in the new house. They left the mattress slat for one of our beds at the storage unit they were moving it out of. They were told to center a very large very heavy armoire between the room entry door and the closet and they put it sticking out in front of the closet door by 2 inches. Worst experience with movers ever!!

  3. Horrible dishonest company.

HORRIBLE COMPANY! Highly unprofessional, will overly charge, very disrespectful, poor communication, sketchy and dishonest. Please do not spend your money here!!

  4. Damaged Table, Owner: Michael Porter is a lier.

I used this company for a local move. The movers where nice and for the most part handle the majority of my items with care. But theY took my new dining room table and rolled it into my new home like a used tire, damaging the entire circumference of the table. I have reached out to river city movers several times through phone and mail. The owner keeps referring me to CeCe the claims specialist that never calls or provides a status update. MICHAEL PORTER the owner has continued to ignore my request to replace my dining room table.

  5. Scammer And Theives! Beware!

After seeing my home they gave me A3 to 4 Hour estimate and it would be a maximum of $450 I had to call the office several times because they were very slow every time I would walk outside I would find them sitting down 7 hours later they attempted to charge me $770 I spoke with the office again we negotiated a price for $650 I paid them the $650 as well as tipped the workers. One of the workers walked me back in the house and kept me busy while the other two workers reloaded my belongings and took off down the road. I called the police and was told because there was a contract it was a civil matter and there was nothing I can do. These people use loopholes and gray areas in the law to scam and steal. I was gotten. Among the things they stole were my grandmother's jewelry and jewelry box, my mother's wedding ring, my husband's car keys my car keys heirloom pocket knives that belonged to our grandfathers and fathers. Avoid these people or you will be in the same position that I am in now.
When I told them I was calling the police he said go ahead you cracker b I t c h we do this all the time and the cops are not going to do a thing. So use these people at your own peril. Read all the reviews I'm not the only one. I wish I had read the reviews before I hired them. I was tired and desperate and it made me vulnerable to being scammed.

  6. Do not use this company.

I always use movers when we move. I used this company 3/2018. Everything was moved only to find my sons box of valuables was missing. As soon as we realized it was missing I called the manager, he was not interested in helping me as I had to keep calling him for updates. He said he would research and call me back. He never called me back, I had to follow up with him only to be told my box was not found (of course it wasn't found) what thief would admit they stole something?. He didn't offer a solution until I asked what will be done at this point. He said I could call back and speak to CeeCee and she will file a claim. Everytime I called for Cecee she was never in the office, Needless to say a claim has not been filed and the manager once again has not even tried to fix the issues. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY if you don't want any of your items missing. The manager obviously could careless if his employees are stealing cause he has yet to show he is trying to help me rectify the situation. I feel like plenty of time has passed to give him the opportunity to fix it and he hasn't done anything.

  7. Stolen Items poor Service.

I really would not even give this company a one star. I can not believe or don't want to believe that people take your things with no remorse. They showed up one hour late (with no professional call to say a job may be taking longer) and then they arrived with a "certain" odor. While moving my furniture they were rough and I did say something twice. We even helped to move some things on the truck ourselves. With all this said and done I still gave them a $20 tip due to the price did not reach the amount I thought it would. However they had already tip themselves or at least one of the three did. Later that night we saw that my husbands nightstand drawer was loose. When looking inside we found that the Watch($295) I gave him for Christmas along with $50 or more worth of change was gone. The watch may have been just a Watch to them but there is a story behind it that can not be replaced. When I called to report this the owners brother was rude and accused me and said how could that be done. I wish I knew must have been done before. I sent certified mail with the value of the Watch etc. per owners request and still almost three week later no response. I would not be going through this trouble over something that isn't true. I know how businesses run but this is shameful! No compromise suggested and unless you are a part of this you know who did this. How can people be so thoughtless and take what isn't theirs. I have also spoke to Thumbtack so they can be aware and think about weather or not they want to keep them a part of their referrals.

  8. Vicki/Audrey/Austin.

I was leery about using a moving company because of all the stories that I have heard in the past. But River City Moving was absolutely the best, they never slowed down, constantly moving, careful with the furniture, and very professional. I would recommend them to my friends and business associates and would hire them again if I had to move again. Cannot thank the two gentlemen who did our move enough.

  9. Excellen Service and Value.

Those gentlemen worked their tails off to get as much done as possible in the amount of time I had to work with.
They truly hustled for the 4 hours I requested and took care of all the big items and quite a lot of the small items. I would never have been able to make my scheduled move without them.
They were polite, efficient and professional from start to finish.
This was my first experience using a moving company, and it was a good one!

  10. Never Again!!

My Rivercity moving experience was the worst!! Thank God it rained! My move SHOULD HAVE taken 3hrs. I say that because I move almost every yr and I know what I have. I had all my boxes packed and at the door. I moved EVERYTHING except washer & dryer downstairs. When I noticed the two guys weren't about getting the job done. I told them to put the boxes down at the door and I took the boxes in the house. 1st and 2nd load was NOT packed properly which then needed a 3rd load. Small truck, why?
I missed work because of them being slow. Cigarette breaks on my time. Wow.

  11. Great Experience.

I normally don't comment but since I had a great first experience with River City Moving and Storage. I normally have to ask family members to help me with my moves. This time they said you need to hire a moving company. I reached out to several moving companies and when I called River City Moving and Storage spoke with the owner he was professional and made me feel as if I had nothing to worry about that his company would take care of everything. They were on time very professional and did not allow me to help. A great experience would use them again.

  12. Good Movers.

I have to say I was surly impressed with this company.  I had to hire this company last minute because my movers who I originally scheduled did not show up. They told me it would be a few hours before they could come since it was last minute. When they showed up they were ready to work. They got right to it and started the move. I lived on the 3rd floor and was pretty impressed with the quickness of the move. Overall I am pleased with my service.

  13. Worst moving company ever.

Just to make it easy and not burn my self again .. It is the worst moving company and all they do is steal your money and damage your furniture and above all they lie to you when you first call to get you into a deal!! They told me it will take between 4-5 hours and it took more than 8 hours .. My husband ended up helping with the move and they damaged two furniture pieces and when I called to compliant they said I have to file a claim by mail within ten days of delivery or else it will be disregarded. If it reaches them within ten days, they will send it to the insurance company and then they'll get back to me!! Oh and the guy who answers the phone extremely rude and unprofessional .. He called me " hey" !!

  14. Worst Movers/moving Company Ever.

If there were a way to give them ZERO stars, I'd be on it.  WORST MOVING COMPANY EVER.  I've dealt with MANY movers in various cities/states throughout my time as a renter and this was, by FAR, the worst experience I've had.  That includes the one time I moved everything by myself and loaded the uhaul by myself and unloaded the uhaul by myself.. in the winter.  They were hired to move a 10X10 storage unit and a 2 bedroom apartment (that they had moved the previous year.. same items inside) and there were NO APPLIANCES being moved.  No fridge, stove, dishwasher, dryer, washer, etc.  They started with the apartment.. but they managed to pack the truck with bags first, then tubs, then furniture.  It took them nearly 4 hours to do this.  Three guys.. and it took 4 hours to put a 2 bedroom apartment into a truck?!  Wait. It gets better.  They didn't get all the items into the truck.. because they packed it so poorly, I was left with half a garage full of my belongings that they couldn't fit and didn't offer to send another truck or come back and get it.  I moved the items myself in 4 carloads the next day.  One of the workers was complaining of hunger and fatigue within 45 minutes of arriving to load my items.  THEN they started fighting amongst themselves and yelling out in the parking lot at each other.  THEN they managed to not fit everything in the truck.  It gets better.  They dropped an 18 gallon tub full of books into a pool of water.. it opened and all the books were soaked.  THEN they dropped a tub that contained all my personal files.. into the water. No concession was made for either of those mishaps.  I ended up unloading the rest of the truck while one guy handed me the items.  This doesn't resolve the situation in that I had to pay for another month at the storage unit($110) because they didn't even offer to send new guys/a truck to move those items.  I explained all of this to the "manager" (it's the only man working the office so if you want to call him a manager, then go right ahead.  His name is Michael).. he says it isn't his problem and since he didn't SEE how they packed the truck, he doesn't know why the items didn't all fit.  His best offer to the ENTIRE situation is to have me pay full price to have them move my storage unit and he "will give me $50 off, half the storage unit cost".  Why would I want to PAY them to move the rest of my items when it took so long the last time and they damaged items? Why wouldn't he feel like, as a "businessman", he should right this wrong and pay for the entire storage unit cost?  Instead, he treated me like I was "just another disgruntled customer".  He said, "We aren't the mafia, ma'am.  We don't just do things for free." Why did he say that?Because it isn't a business.  It's a poorly run "company".. essentially a guy who has a truck and knows some dudes who can lift things up and put them down.  Slowly.. and inefficiently.. and on your dollar.  Not to mention the common sense truck-packing/loading skills they lacked.Buyer beware! This isn't a moving company.  Your friends will do a MUCH better job.. your adolescent kids would probably be a better option.. or the homeless man down the street.  ANYONE BUT RIVER CITY MOVING!

  15. Broken Furniture / NO Follow up.

This company is the worst for follow up on the items they broke. Mike Porter will not return phone calls and will not stand behind his so called word. Once you pay him, he's done with you and will not provide any assistance in following up on a claim. His trucks are in poor condition and are not road worthy. His cousin drives for him and does not have the experience to back the big truck or turn it around. They towed the truck after it broke down and the load shifted and broke many items and damaged others. Mike Porter would not listen to reason and refused to transfer the load on scene which caused all the damage then he lied and said the wrecker driver would not carry the loaded truck to our destination because I spoke with the driver when I sat and watched them transfer the load in the repair shops lot. He was more concerned about the dollar in his pocket than the cutomers furniture. A claim was filled out and hand delivered to River Cities make shift office and we have never heard back from anyone. I have made many phone calls and went by the office at which time Mike Porter said he doesn;t take care of claims. I don;t believe they have any insurance since they will not respond to our e-mails, phone calls or personal visits. I discourage anyone from using this company for any reason at any time. They are less than professional or respectful to you for items they destrory. I still encourage Mike to call me after reading this review.  Thanks, Jimmy.
