Went better than I thought.
I setup a move from St.louis, MO to Brooklyn, NY with this company. I moved a 3 bedroom house and I had a great experience with these guys. They are a broker so they contracted out to a local company. No biggie, my main concern was that my quoted price be the same. I went with them because their price was really affordable.
Movers showed up on the day of the move. They loaded everything after wrapping it up. The movers themselves were kind and funny we joked around a lot and they even helped me take my flat screen off the wall mount. I needed the 30 days free storage they offered. It sat in storage for about 3 weeks and I called them to ship it out after I found a place. They delivered everything about 5 days later. Unloaded and setup the entire place. My price only went up $20 for some packing materials I needed.
Communication with customer service was open and available at all times.
All around awesome experience with this company!!
Great job ?
I've moved over 10 times in my life time. I've been working as a sales manager for a large tech company for about 11 of those years and part of the job description involves moving around training sales crews.
I've moved using Mayflower, Allied, Bekins, and a couple of other smaller companies with many good experiences. Unfortunately I've had some bad experiences like my price increasing or the movers never showing up and huge lack of communication. Because of this I started doing extensive research on any company I considered. The company I work for asks me to find the company and pay for the move then they recompensate me after I get all the receipts.
This time around I was moving from Kansas City, MO to Brooklyn, NY. I started out by calling Mayflower and had them send out a rep and look at my stuff physically. Got their quote at which point I submitted a quote request online and braced myself for all the calls. I usually just listen to the voicemails they leave me a choose a couple to call back. One of the companies I called back was Route 66. I got connected to Chloe who introduced me to the company, went through my inventory, sent me a quote AND her credentials (this is a first, no company I've ever worked with actually sent me their credentials). I told her I'd call her back after doing my own research and she was kind and patient with me, didn't try to pressure me to doing it right there and then.
I pull up their reviews, doing my own research. A lot of good reviews and some bad ones about their price increasing. Route 66 had replied to all of these and said the client had failed to mention many things coming along thus the price increased. I can understand this because if you lie about what you're bringing the movers will charge you, it's common sense. I dismissed many of the bad reviews.
I call Chloe back and make the down payment of $2328 with an electronic check. My move was scheduled for two days later (they had me include a back up date as well). I crossed my fingers and hoped I made the right choice.
3 Movers show up on the day I scheduled in a budget rental truck (this is very common so I was not surprised). They walk around my house and tell me I did an accurate over the phone assessment, nothing was missing except a couple of extra boxes. They told me my price would stay exactly the same, I signed off the paperwork and paid them half the remaining balance they give me a receipt of course.
They do their thing; wrap up all my furniture, take apart my bedroom sets, box my TVs. Took care of everything for me and they did an excellent job. Only thing I didn't like is that they took a smoke break outside every half hour, no biggie though. They leave after loading everything up.
Took them 6 days to get to Virginia. They call me a day before delivery and inform me their coming. On delivery, 3 movers show up, I paid them the remaining balance they unload everything and setup all my furniture where I want it. Tipped each mover $50.
I'm writing this review 2 days later and everything was delivered in great condition, nothing missing out of the boxes, TVs is good condition. Overall I'm super satisfied with this company. They did what they said they would, they did not increase my price and I saved a bunch of money using them instead of Mayflower. Great experience overall. I'm using them again as my go to for my next move.
Didn't think it would go so well.
Three weeks ago I moved from Palatine, IL to Bakersfield, CA. I had to relocate for a new job opportunity and was tasked with looking for a moving company. I was moving a 5 bedroom house cross country. Since I was entirely responsible for the financial aspect of the move I was inclined to go with the lowest priced mover but I also wanted to go with a reputable company.
I put in a moving request online and got hit with over 20 calls in span of an hour. I answered a few of them, this company was one of them. From the get go I liked my interaction with Chloe who gave me my quote. I went through an inventory with her and she gave me a quote, it was a little higher than what I expected. I got quotes from 3 other companies and kind of sat on them for a couple of days. I looked up this company's reviews and there were a lot of good reviews but also some really bad ones. I was a little hesitant to go with them but what really broke the camels back was when I called back some of the other companies I had gotten quotes from. When I told them I was considering Route 66 they immediately went on blast and called them a bunch of scammers and con artists and they guaranteed me I would be "taken advantage of". I really didn't like the fact that everyone was bad mouthing their competition.
I called Chloe back and spoke with her for over an hour. She went through everything with me again and gave me a run down of the moving industry in a nutshell, it was very eye opening, no other company told me as much as she did. In the end I decided to go with Route 66. I made the $2349 down payment for an exclusive semi and 4 man moving crew. Just FYI for anyone reading this, this company is Route 66 RELOCATION not Moving and Storage. I almost cancelled with them because I read nothing but bad reviews for Route 66 moving and storage out of miami but I was told they were not associated with them.
Route 66 is a broker, they don't own any trucks. They contracted with another company and this didn't really bother me as long as my quoted price stayed the same.
On the day of the move the movers actually showed up right on time with a 53' semi just like promised. I also paid for a full pack, they packed up the entire house and I kind of just sat back and waited. It was kind of hard not doing anything as I've moved myself numerous times in the past and it just felt weird not having to do anything. The movers put make shift carpeting on the floors and blankets against the walls as not to scratch anything. The price we agreed on was solid and never fluctuated. It took them 5 days to deliver everything to Bakersfield. They unloaded and setup everything in the course of 6 hours. I paid them the exact number of the initial quote and off they went.
I'm writing this review 2 weeks later to let everyone know nothing was broken or missing from the boxes.
I cannot thank this company enough! They did a great job and at a reasonable price. Thank you!
