  1. Moving nightmare.

Recently moved and had a disastrous experience with this company. Consumers BEWARE and PLEASE READ; I would strongly advise against this moving company. We were supposed to move two houses in one day. These guys created a disastrous experience. 1) they severely underestimated the scope of the job saying they thought they were moving a 4 bdrm apartment and then swinging by to pick up a few boxes from a residential stop 2) sent an inexperienced skeletal crew of two men 3) sent crew with a damaged truck on multiple levels from oil leakage; a huge hole in the roof; to mechanical issues 4) took these guys all day to pack up 1 house with minimal furniture from 9-5pm 5) we had to rent another moving truck on our own in addition to calling in family members (parents in their mid-late 70s) to help move contents in their own vehicles to compensate for their inefficiencies 6) we lost track of their whereabouts due to them breaking down completely for several hours in their route to our new home 7) when they finally arrived they decided to unload truck the next day b/c it was too late in the day 8) the torrential rains set in and their plan was to put heavy blankets and a dolly on top the truck to protect our contents 9) we as customers had to run out in severe thunderstorms at 9pm at night to purchase our own tarps & bungee cords to attempt to protect our assets & climb onto the roof of the truck in lightening and rainfall conditions 10) next day they arrive we start unpacking and there's water saturation and moisture to our furniture and boxes 11) 3 hours into it they are trying to collect payment already for a barely finished job 12) with the continued rain we were left no choice but to help unload contents from the truck to our garage to the house to prevent more water damage 13) garage wasn't even half moved into our home and they were coming to collect payment again for an incomplete job 14) an hour later we discovered additional damage to our furniture not from water but from these guys improperly prepping and staging the furniture; a total lack of care. No shrinkwrap, no padding on furniture and no proper floor runners. These guys damaged our entertainment center when a glass door flew open; a night stand, a dresser and an antique table/heirloom 15) to make matters worse we had to fire this company mid stream and find another mover same day to finish the job moving contents into our home 16) we had to secure another mover to move the 2nd home which occurred on the third day of what was supposed to be a one day move. Thankfully All My Sons Moving & Storage and the other back up crew I hired were top notch 17) to add insult to injury we discovered unauthorized charges from this company on our credit card for an incomplete and extremely unsatisfactory job. I strongly do not recommend this company. I would hate to think of other consumers who might be at the receiving end of a terribly unprofessional services company. They did nothing to right this wrong but try to collect payment in the end. This company needs a serious look inward as to how to authentically treat customers with a service orientation; establish a high level of expectation for quality standards; ensure best practices and processes are upheld in the field; and should never, ever let this scenario become someone else's moving nightmare. #silverbackmoving #sheavanlines #movingnightmare #consumersbeware #chooseyourmovercarefully.

  2. Moving from a 4000 sq ft home to a 1600 sq ft home.

Schea Moving was an excellent experience from the initial visit by Karin to our home offering many tips, time frames and expert opinions. The whole experience was without any glitch. The three movers arrived timely, and worked with with us to get the most important items wrapped and moved. They were very friendly, never stopped, and they made a very huge and hard move the easiest possible. There is not one complaint. I would recommend Schea Van Lines to family, friends and anyone who is moving for a professional, efficient move by a company of very expert people at every level. Thank You.

  3. Michigan residential move.

Just moved into our new home without a complication thanks to Steve and Ulise expert and courteous abilities. Could not have had a better team. They worked so hard we made them take a break. Definitely would hire them again. Thank you for a superior job gentlemen!

  4. Schea Van Lines.

Schea Van Lines truly offered the best service I believe I could have received. From the management to the staff that came out to the address. Every single detail was noted and handled accordingly. Thank you Schea Van Lines for the speedy service and the all around great move.

  5. Schea Van Lines.

My brother and I used Schea Van Lines to haul pieces from my father's home in Ann Arbor to a storage yard not far from my home in Columbus. Glad we did. They did a great job and did everything that was asked of them. After the service was complete we were not billed more than they had promised. Schea Van Lines also recommended other service providers that did exceptional work. It was a great network of hardworking professionals.

  6. Schea Van Lines.

Schea Van Lines was the ideal moving company that I had been searching for. I wanted a local family owned moving company. One that was not franchised nor managed by parent companies. I received the personal touch from Schea Van Lines that I had been looking for.

Kind, courteous, and reliable are only a few words that describe this firm. The office staff were friendly and helpful with moving tips. The gentlemen that arrived to relocate my family were just as helpful. Uniformed and properly equipped.

Thank you Schea Van Lines. Will be sure to call on you guys again.

  7. Schea Van Lines.

Schea Van Lines provided fantastic service to my wife and I. We had a unique situation considering the majority of pieces were going to storage and the other pieces remaining were destined for our temporary apartment and then our storage facility.

We were thrilled with the work that Schea Van Lines had done for us. When the estimator came out they had suggested labeling each piece destined for a different drop off be labeled with different color tape. This way the movers would know to which address each piece should be delivered too.

The day of the move each piece was properly delivered to the correct address. I was overall very pleased with the handling, loading, and unloading of our pieces. The invoice after was proper as well. Schea Van Lines exceeded our expectations. Thank you!

  8. Schea Van Lines provided great service!

Over the weekend Schea Van Lines relocated my family's three bedroom home from Ann Arbor to Canton. Considering I am starting a new position and my wife is commencing retirement, we did not have much time to plan and execute the moving of our home. We made one simple phone call to Schea Van Lines and they told us to "Consider it done!" They did just that. Schea Van Lines sent an estimator out to the address and provided us with an estimate that within 10% of the actual final bill. I was impressed as I imagine it's difficult to estimate a three bedroom family home.

On moving day four professional movers arrived with two trucks. The operation was clearly properly outfitted as we did not need anymore and certainly could not have done with any less. Each piece was prepped properly before the movers loaded into their trucks. At the new home each piece was unloaded professionally and placed exactly where we had asked it to be placed. After all furniture was unloaded they assembled what needed to be and unwrapped the furnishings.

The final bill came to be $1,750 and change. We were quoted $1,625. Pretty accurate for a cross town move. They left us in the new home relieved and relaxed. Glad we chose Schea Van Lines and I will be urging others to do the same.

  9. Schea Van Lines.

Dealing with Cam and the crew he selected for our move was the worst experience. Cam grossly under estimated the time that it would take to move us, a 1 day job turned into 3, and we ended up paying 2 times what he quoted us. The crew broke a number of our things, (TV, treadmill, dishes, etc.) and we still have items sitting in our garage that they were too tired to move to the downstairs.

  10. Moving.

The guys were great! So considerate of my mom's belongings and kind to those individuals who were roaming around. She moved into an assisted living facility and people were walking around but they were patient and sweet to them as they moved things in.

  11. ¡Gracias por un excelente servicio!

Schea Van Lines did a great job recently when I needed to move a one bedroom from Troy to Royal Oak. The men were kind, prompt, and paid attention to nearly every detail. All was disassembled by the crew at my former home in Troy, then reassembled properly once arriving in Royal Oak. I couldn't be more happy with Schea Van Lines.

  12. Lack of Integrity.

We moved on July 6th and had more than our share of problems, many scratches and lost item. They broke a lamp and as of Oct. 10 James Schea has failed to compensate us for a loss. Smooth talker but lacks integrity. Would not recomend this firm, there are more options.

  13. Beware of Schea Van Lines / Silverback Moving!!

Schea Van Lines / Silverback Moving grossly underestimated my move and lost several valuables!

6/6: After working with two VERY helpful women, Kim and Karen, I chose Schea Van Lines. Their customer service during stressful time was great. Quote: 2 teams of 2 movers w/2 - 26’ trucks for @ 6-8 hrs.

Mid March: Cam, “the assessor” (and the owner) spent @ 30 minutes reviewing my home and quoting same as above. He seemed very customer focused. I also hired packing services. After 3 Schea professionals spent 8+ hours in my home, no one stated my move would take more than quoted.

6/22 Moving Day: Silverback Moving (not Schea Van Lines) arrived. After lunch, movers stated, “we will be here until 2:00am. This should have been a 2 day or 3 team job” then joked about Cam’s inability to assess jobs.

6/22 Midnight: After adding 3rd team, the move taking 2x longer than assessed, and paying to get movers to leave, Jim calls and becomes aggravated when I challenge costs.

Cam is NOT customer focused. When I questioned misquote, he replied rudely, “The contract states in PLAIN English the quote is non-binding – and the hours may change!!” After arrogantly boasting of moving 12,000+ families/year, he could only say, “Moves are hard to estimate.” Jim blamed extra time on storage items (items took less than 1/3 of a truck, less than 50 min. to move 5 miles).

6/26: I noticed several belongings missing (irreplaceable jewelry worth @ $1820, a box of movies/video games and a bag of leather boots).

7/13: Upon request, I supplied Jim proof, photos and information re: my belongings.

9/20: Jim finally emails invoice and itemized charges.

10/4: Still no answer re: my valuables or WHY move was grossly underestimated.

10/5: FINALLY an answer re: valuables. Jim can “try to reimburse me $0.60/pound for my belongings.”

Jim will likely say “Discounts!” This is their MO. The complaints are all similar.

Beware of Schea Van Lines AND Silverback Moving – they are same. DO NOT TRUST THEM WITH YOU VALUABLES!

  14. Schea Van Lines.

Schea Van Lines just finished moving my parent's three bedroom from Clarkston to Franklin. The movers were quick and friendly. The billing was done so fairly and exactly as promised. Seriously the best experience I've had yet with a contracted service provider. Thanks a ton!

  15. Schea Van Lines Bravo.

Bravo bravo Schea Van Lines was exceptional. We've hired several other moving companies in the past that did not compare to the service we had received from Schea. Will definitely use again in a few months.
