  1. London Madrid.

Small move with terrible customer care. Lets not name and shame but Simpsons need to train their stuff better to avoid upset customers. Would not recommend or use again. Avoid.

  2. 3 Months delay.

I'm going to be short: DO NOT HIRE. I did unknowingly only because this company was appointed by my international moving company from LA. I won't hire myself even though I do have another move coming up.

Originally moving from LA to Berlin. I had to switch Germany for Spain because my goods have been sitting in Simpson's warehouse for 3 MONTHS (+2 months traveling by ship from abroad) and I'm now 5 months pregnant and alone to unload!! But as I was advised by email, this wouldn't affect the delivery date.

The best part? There's still NO SCHEDULED DELIVERY and there is no way I can unload by myself when I'm.. 6.. 7.. who knows!! BECAUSE THERE'S NO SCHEDULED DELIVERY YET. My family lives in Spain, hence the change, so that I can have the help I shouldn't have needed, had I received my goods in a timely fashion.

The reason they give me? There are no trucks available. How on Earth you're a moving company, and for months you don't know when your trucks are scheduled to come back from their current trips?

I will now be moving all of my partner's things from Berlin to Spain too, and will definitely not consider hiring Simpsons if I'm not given an actual delivery date for my goods and check that all my stuff is in correct order. 5 MONTHS in total have my things been traveling the world, when I was given an 8 week quote. I've had to buy a lot of things again.

    Horrendous experience. Nerve wracking. Unfair.

  3. Still discovering missing items..

Horrendous! Dreadful from (almost) the start - lies and cover ups, stuff missing too from my move from UK to France. Given my treatment from Simpsons Removals & Storage Ltd., and despite the fact I took out extra insurance, I just know to go after them for damages and loss will result in nothing. Two months later (you can imagine it takes a while to fully unpack - plus I'm running a business) I'm still discovering lots of missing items!! Simpsons MUST be aware of unclaimed items knocking about. I guess they have staff who have lucked out and claimed part of MY HAUL. The packers were appalling - one of the Simpsons Removals & Storage Ltd. Packing Staff's opening line was "I have to get this done quick, as I've got an interview for another job later". Their behaviour and language was an absolute disgrace. The 'surveyor' wildly underestimated my load..lets call him "Tom", as that's his name. Clearly, looking back, the quote given to me was clearly designed to win the business. I was lulled by the patter, and then TOM declined to stand by his initial conversation and I was told by his boss that TOM was 'upset'!! Ha, I doubt he was as upset as I was!! The quote which arrived by email was even less than Tom Thetford's verbal account when we met at my storage unit - a storage unit which gave a clear indication of what I had to pack onto his lorry.. There were items NOT in the storage unit and I told the surveyor TOM what they were - INCLUDING precise DIMENSIONS of a pool table. Just before I signed another member of staff assured me "the more you have the cheaper it is" - this turned out to be rubbish. The final invoice was almost twice the original quote with extra insurance on top. Lots of to-ing and fro-ing of emails, especially with thew staff member who hooked me - lets call him "Ersin" as that is his name - and I actually received an email (in error) from Ersin's superior telling Ersin NOT to contact me!! - Professional - er, NOT. Then Simpsons Removals & Storage Ltd. lied about delivery and I had given them well over a months notice - nearly two months really. I would never have booked if I felt they couldn't accept my 5 day window for delivery. But they waited until I was in France and then calmly told me (on email only) that "two lorries were broken down" and my delivery was now June 6th!! It should be noted that I have since been told by a staff member that this wasn't the case with the lorries!! It is my belief they took on too much work, and decided to shift my dates to suit themselves. So, the delivery was cancelled for two weeks, leaving me stranded in France with nothing for my house or new business. I requested on April 10th to deliver my possessions between 23rd and 26th May..lots of mutterings about how this "should be OK" Simpsons Removals & Storage Ltd. cancelled - by email - on 22nd May. They set a new date of June 6th and this was missed by 24 hours as Head Office sent my delivery guys on another job! Instead of me the guys were sent (past me) to South of France and then back up.. making it impossible for them to get to me on the day. A disaster from start to finish - DO NOT USE!! I didn't believe a word they said after a while. They let me down hugely and I would never have signed up had I known the parameters. Make sure when you book that you lock down dates..do not believe "it should be OK". Simpsons Removals & Storage Ltd. were an expensive mistake. I have friends moving into mainland Europe, and I am making sure they all know to dodge Simpsons Removals & Storage Ltd. totally and warn others of the same. Of course, they gave me the option to cancel - by which time they had my deposit and all my possessions in a lock up in Dartford, so it would have cost me to repatriate it back to my storage unit. Ah. memories flooding back of what was an excruciating and terrible experience with Simpsons Removals & Storage Ltd. As I am in contact with many people moving between France and UK and back again - I am spreading the word. DON't USE SIMPSONS.

Meanwhile a lot of Christmas items, a lot of gardening equipment, step ladder and other boxed items of mine have clearly found other homes - despite, once, all being in one place - and under the "care" (loose term) of the disastrous Simpsons!!

I find it extraordinary that I watched all my items being loaded into crates, but not everything has arrived - how hard is it to have one load and manage to split it so badly.

Even this ridiculous review doesn't cover all the towns or counties - so I have had to put the nearest in - Guildford to Bordeaux. For the sake of clarity it was Camberley to Les Alleuds, France.

  4. Great price and totally professional.

Simpsons not only gave a great price they managed my removal from Belgium to the UK - including several months' storage in the UK - with total professionalism.
The move was scheduled to meet our requirements - a narrow window of possible dates - and the men who came to take our furniture arrived on time, working really fast and well. Everything was packed properly and nothing was damaged.
I could have asked for nothing more!

  5. Excellent Service!!

Excellent customer service!! Truck loaded and on it's way to Italy in a timely manner, Service to the extreme and beyond the call of duty. THANK YOU LYDIA BOWLES!
I am recommending without any reservation. Antoine.

  6. Absolutely Disgusting.

Where do I start after contacting this company about removals abroad we were told ignore the reviews it was customers with problems nothing to do with us. We were guaranteed that our items would arrive within weeks as it had to go from UK by boat at least 3 Months later it was still sitting in there warehouse in Kent nothing had been done so after god knows how many phone calls to Ersin it was loaded onto boat we tracked it all the way over to us only to be told we had to pay more money unfortunately we weren’t willing to pay another penny to these people it was stuck in about 3 hours from us in storage when we rang storage people here they said the bill wasn’t paid from uk even though we had paid in full door to door so more phone calls to the U.K. more expense to be told by Ersin nothing to do with me it’s finance department problem tries to get hold of them for days to be told every time there in a meeting or there out to lunch lies lies lies we wanted our stuff fir weeks we rang the U.K. askin* to pay the bill but Ersin said sorry nothing to do with me I became so frustrated with this company we threatened legal action but that never bothered him either from abroad it is very expensive to keep calling the U.K. but he never seemed to care about that even though he more or less begged us to use Simpson’s as he could guarantee our stuff would arrive this was January we are now in July and only just arrived not because they paid the bill oh no because our shipping company over here said we could have it as a good will gesture and they would sort it out with the U.K. AVOID SIMPSONS AT ALL COST THEY ARE MONEY GRABBING THIEVES WHO TAKE YOUR MONEY AND DONT DELIVER GOODS OVER £3000 TO BE TOLD “WHAT DO YOU WANT US TO DO “ ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING WATCHDOG REPORT MADE AVOID PEOPLE.

  7. The worst removal company in the world !!

They are the worse removal company in the world.
They failed to collect a large proportion of my items from Spain having subcontracted out the job. The items were left on the steps to my house to be stolen.I in the end had to organise some men to collect them as they were incapable of sorting out another removal truck to help me. I sorted it from the UK !. They were very difficult about the delivery and kept changing the date. Telling my furniture was still in Spain. The rudest logistics woman I have even spoken to literally said" tough". I had many broken and badly packed items I.e My expensive French basin. Not bubble wrapped just a bit of tape. They are claiming I did not pay for the insurance when I specifcally did. Simpsons don't return my calls and basically don't care about their customers. NEVER EVER USE THEM. I am in shock at how dreadful they are. The story of hell is far longer but I think I have made my point. I felt severely ripped off and very Badly treated.

  8. Do not use this company.

Do not use this company. I contacted Simpsons for a move of household goods from the UK to Australia. At first, all seemed good. A guy came to my house to check out what I was moving and later I received the price. I accepted and paid insurance cover. A date was arranged for the move and the goods were collected. Because I only had part of a container the goods remained in Simpson’s depot for several weeks before shipping.

I understood that upon arrival in Australia – the goods would be unpacked and all packaging removed.

Most of my goods were general household items but I was also sending an electric running machine (treadmill). I told the removal men that the machine would fold down for transportation.

When the goods arrived in Australia I was contacted by another company to arrange for delivery. The goods were to be delivered to my son’s home.

After delivery my son contacted me to say one of the crates was missing, no packaging had been removed and the running machine was damaged. Fortunately the missing crate only contained crockery and basic kitchen goods but nevertheless it was missing.

I immediately contacted Simpsons to advise what had happened – but as I was still in the UK and it until I arrived in Australia a few weeks later that I could assess the damage.

The running machine looked as though it has been unscrewed and screwed back upside down! The machine had been taken apart and whoever tried to put it together had just screwed bits of the machine into any various part. One end of the electric wire was a universal type plug that would probably fit most machines – however the plug that goes into the wall socket was not a UK or Australian plug (this is a mystery!!)

I contacted Simpsons again and sent photos. Simpsons requested photos of the plug, which I sent and then they wanted more photos of the plug.

Their suggestion was that I get quotes to reassemble the treadmill. I told them I did not want the treadmill “reassembled”. It is a running machine – often used at speed. I would consider it highly dangerous to “reassemble”. Because the machine could be folded down there was no need for the machine to have been taken apart.

After several emails - I submitted an insurance claim. I then received email asking for more photos (same photos which I had already sent), they asked me to obtain repair estimates (I had made it clear from the outset that I would not have it repaired).

They continually asked for the same information and the same photos. It became quite obvious they were not going to honour my claim. They repeatedly asked for the same information just to wear me down. And eventually I was worn down. Bearing in mind – we had just emigrated. We had masses of other things to sort out.

In my last email to them I said – bearing in mind that I’ve just emigrated – I have more going on in my life than continually answering the same emails and sending the same photos and I have now drawn a line under this whole sorry mess.

Whether you are moving goods to the other side of the world or buying a TV - I consider that any company is judged by its AFTER SALES SERVICE – Simpsons offer none.

Remember that it was not just my treadmill damaged but a crate was also missing.

I told Simpsons that it is too late for me but I hope that in giving this review it will save someone else from using their company.

I expect - like any company - if all goes ok Fine ! it's when things go wrong that a company shows its worth.

I've given one star - I wish I could give no stars!

  9. First Class Removal Service.

The team of two arrived promptly and within an hour we were all packed up and ready to go. They were both polite and cheery throughout the whole move and treated my possessions with respect.
As there was no chain it was a fairly quick process. They were both efficient and courteous and quick! Would definitely recommend as my last move was fairly disastrous ( not with Simpsons).

  10. Removal service.

Very impressed with survey and estimate, customer service and the moving team. They arrived on time and were loaded quickly, there was the inevitable wait for the keys but the team were quite patient. Some minor damage to a couple of items of furniture but not a problem.

  11. Kent to East Sussex.

Removal van arrived promptly at 7:30 and in a whirlwind we were loaded. They left for the new house 40 miles away at 10:00 and arrived about 11:30, obviously keen to finish early. We had to spend an hour clearing the old house and collecting the last special items. We arrived around 13:00. Of course it seems to take time getting the funds transferred up the chain so our house was not released until 13:45. I had the feeling the removal team were frustrated at the delay but they must be aware of this. Truck emptied in another whirlwind of activity. Again mostly ok but several boxes ended up in completely the wrong place in spite of us labelling clearly on the supplied boxes. Only minor breakages but overall good. They just need to acknowledge that the Conveyancing system is not designed for early finishes; even if they think it should.

  12. Swanley(Kent) to Grangemouth (Scotland) move.

Emptied the house very quickly and appeared efficient. However at the other end some of my carefully packed boxes were damaged however the contents were intact. A couple of pieces of furniture had suffered slightly but not enough for making a claim.
Please note the moving route is incorrect as they do not have my route listed.

  13. The worst moving company ever!

Goods disappeared. No trace of it. They pack and unpack very fast so you feel compelled to sign the inventory without reading it. Then they say it is not there although it is in the insurance sheet. Then for us complaining less 14 pound than a minimum of 250 pounds they say insurance does not pay for the goods they list. We will complaint to authorities.

  14. London to Lisbon.

    Worst customer experience ever!

Just have a look at the pictures of the truck when they ve opened the door.

    All items unpacked such as:
    -Bed
    -Desk
    -Chester
    -Chairs
    -Sofa
    -baby deb
    -Children bed
    - Double Bed

    have been damaged or broken.

Please feel free to contact me, may you need pictures of the broken Items and or comments about the entire process.

    Summary of process:
    - Wrong quote for boxes: Quoted half boxes of others companies and then charged more than the agree quote. Email available on request
    - No Resident permit organised in London for their truck (email available on request)
    - Removed stuff left aside and which has been shown to the removal team as stuff needed to be stored for 3 weeks. Had to buy shirts to be able to go to the office (email available on request)
    - Unable to fully help for organising the parking permit in Lisbon. Unable to deliver all papers such as professional certificate (email available on request and witness by official Lawyer)
-Threating email to let me know that in case they could not park they would send back the stuff to London at my expenses
    - Items not covered by blankets as stipulate in the quote and paid for resulting in almost every items broken and/or damaged (photo of the truck available and photos of the broken / damaged items available on request.
    - Supposed to re-installed my sons bed, not done properly. Video available on request.
-Ask for proof that their team damaged the wall (photo available on request. No proof available as I did not thought I would photograph the picture before!

No ambition to settle with me directly or recognised how unprofessional they have been.

Will let you know once the story is fully over. Starting the claim process with their insurance + sending lawyers to them.

  15. Absolutely Awful.

Late arrival, damaged goods, poor service, additional charges, management who fail to take responsibility.

DO NOT USE FOR ANY TYPE OF REMOVALS.

    You have been warned.
