  1. Simpsons Removals.

Simpsons were great - the request for a quote was dealt with quickly, very pleasantly and was very competitive. On moving day the team of 4 were professionalism itself - they turned up on time, were unfailingly pleasant and polite, and were extremely quick and practised. They were good humoured and patient - we had to wait over 2 hours to get into the new house and once there they did wonders moving furniture into small spaces - and then moving it again to other places when I changed my mind! Nothing was damaged or broken. The team were very experienced, courteous, hard working, effective and utterly professional - just the support needed on what is quite a stressful day. I would definitely recommend them to others.

  2. Moving.

Right from the very first phone call to Sue Bacon to get a quote we were impressed. Both Sue Bacon and Sophie dealt with our move in a fast and efficient way. They offered good advice right along the way and were extremely helpful. The guys moving our furniture were amazing and extremely helpful, especially Steve and Jay. It was not an easy move, but Steve had already moved our furniture 4 years before when we moved in. He moved us out of our home this time and then into the new home. Nothing was too much trouble. They maintained a great sense of humour during quite a difficult move. We were very impressed and would highly recommend to anyone else using them. The 5 star rating is given because of the quality of the staff we encountered. Please pass on our grateful thanks to all staff mentioned.

  3. Nightmare removal.

I would never, ever, ever recommend anyone to use Simpsons Removal firm, unless you want your carpets trashed, your furniture broken and be prepared for additional costs for boxes plus cost for delivery of boxes. It was raining on moving day and No dust sheets, or shoe covers and no mattress covers used, I found my white mattresses on the dirty van floor !!
There was no apology. I am quite shocked as the surveyor who came to the house was polite and promised sheets, covers and boxes etc.

  4. Avoid Simpsons Removers.

Simpsons customer service and removal and delivery service were incredibly poor and I would advise anyone moving internationally to avoid using this company. The packing service was very quick but, it turns out, due to poor packing. There was no tracking service provided from collection and we were completely in the dark as to where are belongings were as they were flown to the USA. Time estimate was 7 to 10 days and the service took over three weeks. We were also charged significant additional fees by the third party US agent despite paying a door to door service upfront. Almost all boxes were damaged on delivery and multiple items smashed. Simpsons did not apologise once for the delay or the breakage. I would never use this company again.

  5. Very dissapointing.

The initial contact with Simpons was quite impressive. A good surveyor and prompt response from the office. They seemed to be very professional. However on moving day they sent one packer (a casual worker) who said 'they didn't realise it was a full-pack at the office.' They managed to get some more people in later in the day but they were running so far behind that we had to leave some things behind. Fortunately our son and his family were moving into the house a few weeks later so there was time to sort it out.
When they arrived at our new home it was raining and they put no cover down on the carpets (which were very light and had just been cleaned).
If you are considering this company - think again!

  6. International move.

Like others reviewing here, I was given a competetive price and told that was all inclusive. It seemed a little low so I asked for a proper evaluation at my home based on worst case scenario, ie; if I were to take everything. I got charged extra for crates which never showed up with the move and then hit with a bill £300 over the agreed amount (already almost 500 over the original quote). When we complained given that they brought no small boxes and were stuffing t-chests with paper to fill them up as they were getting heavy, we were met with the most atrocious customer service ever. My husband was told I must have sneaked more items in despite having an evaluation and full 'expert pack'.so basically they called their customer a liar. I say expert because tbe move got off to a bad start with one of them arriving smoking and flicking it on my drive, throwing books on top of a valuable item so the books were curled (thank goodnesd I came in as it was been sealed), they took tools belonging to my friend when they went around collecting them whilst I was signing papers and refused to accept responsibility so I have had to replace as new then rushed off to anpther job that simpsons had apparently forgotten about. so they sent a van full of the most precious things in the world to me (childrens drawings, handmade furniture from grandad) to be filled up with someone elses consignment miles away. After they left I found screw and nails on stairs needed to reassemble furniture so have had to pack in suitcase. The whole thing has been stressful, frustrating and emotional. Also expensive!! After paying the full amount, I was asked for more money as they forgot to invoice me and it had to be paid there and then or they wouldn't send anyone (2 days before I flew out) and now we have had an email from the sister company in oz to say that simpsons have advised them we haven't paid the 288 dollar fee up front that we weren't even told about (I was told everything except any necessary fimigation was paid) and this needs to be paid immediately directly to them. Furious isn't the word. Our consignment has taken ages to arrive forcing us to buy new things to get by and I am concerned it will not even arrive intact. I would not trust them to pay out on the insurance I was rudely coerced into taking. We have moved internationally twice and never had a bad experience until now. Avoid this company at all costs!

  7. Wish I had read the reviews first.

I engaged Simpsons to move and store my furniture for a two year period while I was overseas. My first bad experience was 20 minutes after the driver left when I realised my purse had inadvertently been taken off with the storage. It was a Saturday and the Simpsons offices were closed so I could not get in touch with them to ask for a contact number for the drivers. I could pinpoint exactly where the purse was in the container and Simpsons seemed very accommodating. I arranged for a relative to go to the storage depot to collect the purse and thought no more of it. Within a couple of days I received an invoice for almost £275; the invoice stated that it was for one man's labour for one hour!! If not for the fact that they had my goods, I would not have paid a penny but eventually got them to agree to halve the figure quoted.
The collection and return of my goods was in the region of £900 plus I was paying between £160-170 per month for 25 months for storage (3 containers only). Not insignificant sums so you would expect them to be more accommodating than they were.
I was advised that I should take out their insurance while my goods were in storage, which I did. When the furniture was brought back three items had discoloured and so I fully expected to be able to claim on the insurance. I contacted Simpsons and was told that such damage was not covered and to check section so-and-so of the T&Cs. On reading this there were more exclusions than you could shake a stick at, so not worth a light really. I then discovered that some items were missing, small but necessary things such as the screws to put one of the beds back together, together with a glass top. After a number of telephone calls and emails being ignored, I was finally told that the container had been cleared fully and since re-used so they couldn't explain where my items were. If anyone is tempted to use them I would recommend you read all their T&Cs first, and read the reviews (not testimonials on their website). I for one will never use them again.

  8. Worst Service I've Ever Received.

Engaged Simpsons for an international move from London to Australia. I very clearly explained my needs and was assured that everything I requested was understood and I quickly received a quotation. I confirmed my acceptance and very quickly realised that the sales person had not offered me the service I requested and had not explained anything to me. In short, promised me the sun moon and stars to make the sale with no actual effort or intention to deliver. We have moved a number of times before including international and so assumed the service would be similar which was a big mistake. We had a consultant come out to survey our goods and take measurements. We agreed the number and type of boxes required. I called to set a date to have my boxes delivered to allow us to spend some time figuring out what was feasible to bring etc. I was told I needed to pay extra for this despite clearly explaining in the beginning that this was my intention with no mention of extra costs. It was agreed that on this Occassion they would let it slide and the boxes were delivered. I received half of what I requested and the other half were smaller and not what I ordered however due to time constraints, we had to make do. When brought to the attention of Simpsons they argued and said we had received a free delivery service and so basically have no right to complain.

Next I called to confirm the time of collection which was the next disaster. I was told that the service I paid for does not allow me to set a time and only allows for the move to take place at a time that suits the company. Again not explained to me or even hinted at by my sales person. I would have to pay an extra fee to set a time. I argued this quite strongly as we had impending travel plans and it was essential to set a time. Eventually the consultant called and said he had confirmed an 8am collection and apologised for the mix up. On the day of moving I sat waiting from 7.30 and by 9am I called and was told it could be 1pm before they get to me and nothing had actually been confirmed in terms of time. The sales consultant said there was a break down in communications on their end and nothing could be done. We were due to fly out ourselves that evening so I'm sure you can imagine the stress. After much arguing, they showed up at 11.40 which was not as bad as 1pm but certainly not the 8am slot we were guaranteed and messed up several other aspects of the day. I was later told that no time had ever been confirmed to me and that I had made it up. I am sure you can imagine how disgusting it feels to be indirectly called a liar and to have made up this information. More details on this below.

We had paid extra for a hard TV crate for our expensive 55 inch tv. We were assured that this along with a mattress cover would accompany the crew on the day. On moving day, neither were present. The TV got wrapped in paper and thrown on a truck and white mattress was thrown on the dirty truck with no protection. When I called about this I was told it would be crated at the warehouse. I paid for a crate which should have been used for the entire shipment and crated in front of me. Not after a truck drive around London wrapped in paper. We told Simpsons it is not fair if we have to pay excess for damage to this TV when they have not completed their end of the contract by providing the service paid for. We were told "it sounds like you are just trying to get a new TV out of this". They didn't even apologise and the moving crew didn't even have bubble wrap to protect it. Just a role of Simpsons branded paper.

With all of this in mind and a few other issues that I have left out, I sent a formal complaint to a senior member in Simpsons. The response I received was unprofessional and insulting. Blatantly stating that none of the above happened and that they had fulfilled their duty. This staff member insinuated that we had fabricated details and were simply trying to get something for nothing. He also stated that they would not apologise.

I responded by forwarding all correspondence I had in writing which he claimed to have investigated but clearly hadn't as it proved that we did not fabricate any details and I requested that the recorded phone calls be pulled up to to verify any details exchanged over the phone also. I received a response stating that he had received my email and would reply in 15 days. Clearly demonstrating a lack of urgency and a lack of care and understanding as a service provider

My goods were collected 2 weeks ago and are still in consolidation so will have to update at a later stage as to the condition of everything on arrival. However based on the atrocious level of service and underhanded, insulting treatment we received so far, I wanted to make sure others are aware of this ASAP before trusting this company to move them.

    Regards

    Paul.

  9. Simpsons removal from Sheffield to Cyprus.

Be very careful if you consider using Simpsons for your removals as they are at best unprofessional and at worst dishonest. The TPO will not help as they seem to be in league with Simpsons
In October 16 we were looking for a company to move our household goods from Sheffield to Cyprus. We chose Simpsons from the information told us by the customer service staff, this information was found to be blatant lies used to get our contract. We were told it would take a maximum of 12 weeks but it actually took 22/23 weeks, we were told the quote was door to door with no added extras, we had to pay wharfage charges to get our goods out of Limassol port. We packed our own boxes, gave systems the exact sizes, marked every box with the required information and prepared the manifest list. Because we did all this our quote was £1033 instead of the original £1094, We paid the higher amount and then spent over 2 months with many e-mails to receive this overpayment back.
When we complained to Simpsons they just reverted back to their t & cs and not honored the info told us by their lying staff.
We volunteered to pay for lie detector tests for the staff in question but never got a response from Simpsons. After the collection of our goods at the beginning of October the customer service was abysmal and always had to be initiated by ourselves. We registered a complaint, the outcome just stated that the staff didn't lie and again talked about t & cs, We again offered to pay for lie detection tests but with no response.
We took the complaint to the TPO who sided with Simpsons and did a very poor review, we asked the TPO to get Simpsons to carry out a lie detection test but they would not, they didn't even look at Simpsons on line reviews even though these showed that numerous complaints had been made for the same reasons with identical problems.
Do not believe a word that Simpsons staff tell you, they will lie and then deny it. The TPO will not bother too much to look into it and will side with Simpsons. We think its the do not bite the hand that feeds you concept.
Use Simpsons at your peril, we would never consider them again as there are a lot of honest companies out there that will do a good job, why take the risk.

  10. Never use this company.

I would never recommend this company to anyone, it took them 6 weeks to deliver when it arrived items were knocked, missing and broken,
I felt sorry for the men who came to deliver they were in the front line but I would never use this company again.

If anyone is moving to France please contact me I have a English family run company who will do an excellent job.
They move from all over England.

  11. Worst moving company ever.

When I arranged my move they told me that I would receive my belongings definitely within 4 weeks, but it lasted 2 months. Co-workers were clumsy and bumped with my furniture against the wall causing damage. Most pieces of furniture had scratches on them. All my belongings were full of dust, while I cleaned it all before pick up. Making reclaims was impossible because I could not prove on what date I had bought my belongings. Overall, it was a horrible experience. I should have read a review website.

  12. Appalling packing service.

We used Simpsons to move from London to Tokyo. The packing was very fast, but when the goods arrived in Japan, we realised why: the packing was done to a highly unprofessional level. A heavy cast-iron teapot has been put on top of wine glasses (which were all broken afterwards), paintings were we specifically said they were valuable have been packed without protection with umbrellas, all our books had been thrown in boxes and were slightly damaged with folds and earmarks (which was just totally unnecessary given how easy books are to pack), valuable furniture has all been damaged. We ordered and paid for a marble table top to be crated, which never happened. To add insult to injury, Simpsons refused to compensate us for any damage and never apologised. After a long process, they refunded us the crating service. We also got some compensation from the insurance, for which we paid ourselves. Simpsons however never apologised and although it is in their terms and conditions that they would compensate for broken items up till 40 pounds a box, they refused to compensate us by claiming the following: (1) we had to proof their negligence. Although we provided pictures and a statement from the local agent who witnessed the negligence, they required further proof. (2) they argued that all broken items fit in one box (although they were packed in different boxes) and therefore the maximum compensation would be 40 pounds.

  13. The worst removal company ever.

Items to Paris - damaged by water. Items to Ibiza - they forgot half the items and I had to buy another return ticket to Ibiza in order to receive the rest of my items. I bought another washing machine to use while they decided when they were going to deliver. I now have 2 washing machines in Ibiza. Oh and the date for the delivery of the forgotten items changed 3 times. The staff were unhelpful and offered absolutely no compensation for the additional expenses I incurred due to their lack of professionalism.

  14. Lying company.

DO NOT USE SIMPSONS we moved to Turkey 2 months ago and are still waiting for our furniture only to be told today that it will be even longer coming.  After they picked it up from the UK they held it for 1 month before it was shipped and never told us but when we booked with them we were told definatly we would have our furniture when we arrived in Turkey.  They do not answer emails and not return calls.  I spoke to 1 employee 1 week before we left for Turkey who was down right rude and left me in floods of tears he said it was my problem not his not one of them has sympathised about how they have left us with no furniture for 2 months we sit on the floor we sleep on the floor.  We are distraut DO NOT USE THEM.

  15. Don't use Simpson.

It started off bad when they took a 4 inch chunk out of a wall when removing my furniture. They tried to hide the damage and pretend it never happened. After waiting two weeks longer than the max time of their estimate, my delivery finally arrived. I had multiple items missing and damaged, and Simpson accepted zero responsibility for anything. I even sent them pictures of the damage they caused, and they used jargon and circular logic to try and explain why it wasn't their fault. They are pathetic.
