  1. Swindlers kept my deposit.

Stevens Relocation went out of business without informing me, a customer, who had a moving order pending. So who will refund my deposit money since no moving was done?

I called the moving company and they told me that Stevens Relocation no longer exists and so they are not liable to refund my deposit.

First Class thieves. Swindlers of good working people. Who are the real criminals?

  2. Held my belongings hostage for more money.

If this review can possibly save even one person from the horrible experience with these crooks that I had, then it will have been worth my time typing it. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!! THEY ARE CROOKS AND WILL HOLD YOUR BELONGINGS HOSTAGE FOR MORE MONEY. They gave me an emailed binding estimate of $1680 based on extremely detailed inventory list. When they came to pick it up on 6/28/15, I had everything stacked in the corner of my studio and I asked if it looked like the same volume the estimator gave me on the binding estimate. The job manager said it looked to be the correct amount listed in the estimate and the estimate should be accurate, so I said ok to let them start loading and they had me sign some papers. Then, AFTER they loaded my belongings and locked the truck, he told me it took up more space than they expected and I actually needed to pay $3959 and he had a new written binding estimate for me with the new amount. I argued and asked what my options were, but the job manager said unloading wasn't an option and I had agreed to allow them to load my belongings and now the truck was already en route to the next pick up and there was nothing he could do because the binding estimate was only an estimate. I continued to argue so he phoned a supervisor who told him to deduct $50 but that was all they were going to do. The job manager then told me they expected 15% tip in cash on the actual cost and not the previous estimate and that they would be the ones moving my things off the truck and onto the semi and to consider that. Once the delivery truck arrived on 7/15/15 the driver told me he needed $75 more in cash to unload the truck for "stairs fee". I said stairs were in the estimate, but he said if I wanted my stuff I had to pay. Then they THREW many of my boxes and belongings from the semi onto the grass and many boxes were broken open and a Jewelry armoir and a safe were broken. My mattress, box spring, bed frame, cooler, and Xmas tree were not in the delivery. The driver said "it's not my problem. I'm a contracted semi driver and can't help you" and left. After he left, I realized they had left a box of belongings that wasn't mine. I contacted joe Russo repeatedly and after 2 months, they finally found my bed frame/mattress/box spring and delivered it on 9/20/15. I waited until the bed was delivered to write my review for fear they wouldn't actually give it to me after writing this. They didn't care about getting the box back that wasn't mine and I didn't know who it belonged to, so I gave it to the second delivery guy so hopefully it can get back to the warehouse for someone to claim. They still haven't found the Xmas tree or cooler and they've ignored my repeated requests for how to get compensation for these things as well as the broken items. WHAT THEY DID VIOLATES THE federal motor carrier safety association/DOT LAWS!! I have filed a complaint against them and recommend you do the same at https://nccdb.fmcsa.dot.gov if you have had similar experiences with these crooks. I also filed a complaint with the BBB against them.

  3. Joe told us to "Go F** Ourselves".

We had a terrible experience with Stevens when moving from Providence, RI to Orlando, FL. First, the movers that came to pick up our belongings asked us for a 15% tip (our total was about 1600) and told us that "waitresses get tipped 20% and we do way more work" UNBELIEVABLE. Then we were promised that we would recieve a phone call 24 hours before the movers arrived in Orlando. That NEVER happened, we got a call at 7am saying they would be there in two hours. My boyfriend had to leave work in order to be home for them, since he was given absolutely no notice and a 4 day window that they would be there. JOE RUSSO was the worst part of this entire experience. My boyfriend called him to complain about the unprofessional manner of the drop off, and received an EXTREMELY sarcastic response of "What are you mad about? Your stuff was there in time - are you mad that you were inconvenienced? too bad." We also ended up with a box that belongs to another family and have no way of returning it to its rightful owner, as there is no information on it.   When he told Joe that he was going to report him to the BBB, Joe responded with "Have a nice fourth of July, Go F** Yourself" and hung up on him.  NEVER use this company, and if you do - steer clear of  the rude incompetence that is Joe Russo.

  4. A miserable moving experience.

I can not understand why Stevens relocation is still in business. Our move was the worst moving experience possible. Our sales person was John Gallo, who sold himself as an experienced (30 years) Vice President of the company. Everything he told us from the beginning to end was underestimated or untrue. At the end of the move when it came time to resolve issues we were told by Anthony Demarco that John no longer worked for the company. We were promised a morning pick-up on 11 August 2014 - they arrived late afternoon. We were told we could use a credit card for the initial payment once the truck was loaded - not true. John's estimate for the move of a one bedroom was why we accepted Stevens for our move. His estimate was 100% under the actual cost of the move. The truck showed up with no Stevens Relocation markings, was dirty and beat up. The moving crew were not wearing uniforms or anything identifying them as Stevens employees. The driver Shawn was the only one who spoke English which made communication difficult at best. We were promised Delivery on the 13 of August and received our household goods on the 18th. The delivery crew arrived at 9:30 at night and finished at 3am. The moving crew did not reassemble one item that they had disassembled (per the contract). When the dust settled we found the following: Our expensive entertainment center was destroyed and had extensive water damage. Our kitchen stainless steel trash can was crushed to half it's original size. The living room couch arrived missing all four legs. Our large bird cage which had to be disassembled arrived missing all the screws to reassemble. Two of the four dining room chairs were broke in half. Sewing machine packed in a transportation case was smashed. A stainless steel counter top microwave had been dropped and smashed. At least a dozon boxes were water stained and contents were water logged. Wood surfaces were scratched, lamps broken, boxes missing and many more issues. As of this date (19 Mar 2015) we have received no settlement or arbitration from Anthony Demarco or his company. Phone calls  are not returned  -faxs ignored. No matter what company you use for your move We recommend you take out lots of insurance.

  5. Amazing service!!

Thank you Stevens Relocationfor making my move to Florida so fast and simple! it was very affordablefor me and it was the best quote I was given. Joseph Russo was my sales person and he kept in constant communiation with me to keep me updated on every step of my move. I have had experience with other moving companies that was not that great but Stevens Relocation made me and my family feel secure and well taken care of. Thank you !

  6. Over promised - Under delivered.

This is a long review but worth the read if you are thinking of using this company.  Buyer beware!
This was an email sent by my wife to the owner of Stevens Relocation, John Gallo and his manager, Anthony Demarco.
At the time of this posting no restitution has been offered by this company.
Hi John, Per our conversation on July 17th here is the formal claim that we are submitting to Steven's Relocation for damages that were done to our personal property as a direct result of our move from NJ to CT. I have attached pictures of the items that were damaged/destroyed as well as provided an explanation below of our overall experience/disappointment with the move. The pictures will show: 1. Everything that was damaged/destroyed during our move 2. Pictures of boxes to show you how carelessly our things were stored/packed We are also missing a few items: 1. Queen headboard - black 2. Thule ski rack.
As you can see from the pictures, the amount of care that was put into this move and the storage of our goods was abysmal to say the least. My husband and I just want you to know how extremely disappointed we were with the entire process from start to finish. We previously spoke on the phone about many of the inconsistencies between what was promised and what was delivered. Here is a recap of our complaints/concerns:
    1. Anthony substantially underestimated the size and cost of this move (we were moving from a 2,400 sq. ft. home with four bedrooms) - he said we had 1,500 cubic square feet and we ended up with over double that amount. (His estimate was off by over 100%) This felt like this was a way to entice us with an attractive price and then increase the cost once the true size of the job was conveyed to us. Quite honestly, if we knew that the final price was going to be more than twice what was originally quoted we would have chosen another more well-known mover such as Mayflower.
    2. Anthony assured me that if there needed to be second truck on the day of our move from NJ that it would be no problem and one would be available - this was not the case and it led to a 16 hr. long day for me. I was on my feet from 9 am to 1 am the next day (being 6 months pregnant). By the time the movers returned after unloading the truck the first time it was 9 pm, they were clearly fatigued and rushed to get the job done. This was a brutally long day and completely unnecessary in my opinion.
    3. Anthony stated that our belongings were going to be stored in a "Climate Controlled Warehouse" for 16 days in Brooklyn, NY - this was definitely not the case and you can easily tell that by the mold on pillows and sofa. Neither you nor Anthony could give me a straight answer as to where our stuff was stored - clearly it was baking in the heat on a trailer somewhere in NJ?? Unacceptable.
    4. Anthony told me that Steven's Relocation was in business for over 30 years, the driver told me that you have been in business for 5 years.
    5. On a positive note John, the foreman on the job in NJ was professional and did what he could to make the best of Anthony’s gross underestimation of the job.
On the day of our move in…
    1. I was told by Anthony that the window of when the movers would arrive was between 9 am and 12 pm. They did not show up until 3 pm. I received no calls from the driver, Shaun to let us know his ETA (as Anthony had promised). They wound up finishing around 9 pm, it was dark at that point and once again they were rushing to get the job done.
    2. No one was wearing anything to represent your company - no t-shirts, no name badges, and the truck had no signage saying "Steven's Relocation" on it.
    3. Not one of the movers spoke English - Shaun the driver spoke broken English. This was particularly challenging because we would tell them where to put certain things in the house and they ended up in the wrong rooms. This has been incredibly inconvenient for us unpacking these past two weeks. My impression is that they were a group of undocumented Russian men that were hired for day labor – definitely not professional movers.
    4. I clearly marked boxes "FRAGILE" - and those boxes were not handled with care
    5. They did not mark any of the boxes that they packed on the other end
    6. The boxes that they did pack were so poorly done - hence all of the lamp shades that are now ruined.
    7. Our belongings were on the same truck as someone else's - this was extremely confusing and gave us no faith that our things were, a). stored as you said they would be and b). not being mixed with other people's items. To that latter point, a few items that they pulled off of the truck and began moving into the house we had to tell them were not ours.
    8. The icing on the cake was our new next door neighbor finding a bottle filled with urine in their yard right after the movers left in an empty coke bottle (which we provided for them for dinner).
In conclusion, John, it is clear to my husband and I that the movers were inexperienced and the care that was promised was not taken in our move from NJ to CT. It is also clear to us that our goods were not stored in a "Climate Controlled Warehouse" as promised. From our conversation on the phone, you stated that you "wanted to make this right" and that "you take pride on your companies, and value your reputation". We respect that approach and hope that you are a man of your word. We are not the type of people that normally complain but the damage to our property, the inconsistencies in terms of what was promised vs. what was delivered and the overall lack of professionalism during the entire process was so egregious that we felt compelled to say something.
Please let us know when we can expect restitution for the damage.

  7. Worst Moving Experience in Brooklyn Ever!

Wow! What a sham of a moving company.  At the beginning of August 2014 they refused to charge my credit card after they told me I could use a credit card and then kept my stuff for two days until they finally charged the card.  (The one that wouldn't charge my card told me to call my family for cash.)  The loading of a truck from my storage unit took three hours when it should have taken two hours tops (being realistic)-they moved like molasses!  Then the one hour drive (for commercial vehicle) from New Jersey to Brooklyn (30 minutes in a car) took them two and a half hours during which time they charged me $100 an hour.  I ended up having friends come and unload the truck when they finally showed up two days later and was still charge $1,000 for the three hours of work.

To top it off, I'm missing items such as a floor lamp and a box of books and ended up with another woman's box of winter sweaters.

One of the two movers was a hard worker and I felt bad that he works for such a terrible company.  I couldn't have experienced a worse moving experience.  .
