  1. DO NOT GET FOOLED!!!

First, I will say that the team of movers were wonderful. They were fast, very personable and careful with our things. Second, the manager is the ABSOLUTE WORST and is a complete scammer. He specifically quoted me $595 for 2 hours and an additional $195 for each additional hour for a 2 bedroom apartment and then emailed the estimate confirming the date and rates do discussed. The day of the move, the manager spoke with one of the mover’s on the phone after they loaded up their truck (an hour and 15 min in) and had him present me with a total of over $1000!!!! The manager then tells me that there is a 4 hour minimum and refused to explain why he would quote me the original rate break down of 2 hours at 595 and an additional 195 for every additional hour! Why not just tell me the 4 hour rate from the beginning!? He was condescending, rude, patronizing and an a**. He kept trying to rush me off of the phone because “the clock was ticking” and continued to argue with me about the 4 hour minimum! I could go on but this should be enough to make you think twice and call another mover for a more respectable rate! He ultimately charged us $859 so we could finally move on with the move. The worst experience I’ve ever had.

  2. Worst Move Ever

I used Tri-State because my previous movers didn’t have date available. Small 1-bed. Booked quickly and my questions were answered curtly. Provided no details on extra charges. Timeframe was 1-3pm. I waited over 7 hours for them to arrive, fully packed. GM Got nasty with me when I called once to ask exactly where they were. No apology. Movers said I wasn’t packed because I didn’t pack my mirrors and TVs? Told me I l’d be charged $25 a roll for shrink wrap. My misery ended at midnight, with cost much more than antcipated.

  3. Great Crew !

I ordered a full pack move from my home to their storage and then delivery to another place by the water which we just built. The crew came in on time and packed everything with care. They stored my things for a few moths and then delivered to the new location once it was finished. The crew was absolutely flawless. They didn't scratch a single item. I was also concerned about my new walls at the new place. not a single nick. Love these guys!!!!! The recommendation for the best movers in town worked.. My co-worker was also very happy with them.

  4. The worst moving Company ever

They damaged my furniture they argue with customers don't listen to instructions and they will even over charge u I will not recommend them for anybody that wants to move their managers are so rude please never use this Company for moving they are so bad

  5. Don't become another victim of this company

I never recieved a confirmation email with a confirmation number, contact information, or written cancelation policy. When I misplaced my notes I was unable to contact them to change my move date. I desperately went online trying to find contact info. The only email I received was 24 hours before, well past the 72 hr deadline. This is clearly by design and preys on consumers like me. They charged me $350.00, overdrafting my account without notice. Manager "Scott" stated "It's not our problem" and "Yeah, you're going to have to sue me." He also stated that it was my responsibility to monitor my email every hour and suggested to do anything else was a dereliction of MY duty. I asked him if I was on a 7 hour car ride if I should still do that. He stated "yes." "Scott," the most toxic, rude, and dismissive manager I have ever dealt with just told me, a customer, that I should break the law and risk the lives of myself, my family, and other motorists. I have been left broke, my belongings in boxes, and me trying to figure out how to proceed. Do not let this happen to you. Do not become a victim of "Scott" and Tri State moving.

  6. Above and beyond

This company has moved me twice already, Every time they move me is like I more impressed than before. This time I had a situation with my elevators and the manager cam on site and found a solution for us. They take their business serious and I love that. Thank you Tristate team for all your hard work.

  7. Great Job ?

I hired them to move my 4 bedroom home from McLean to Bethesda. They did excellent job. I would definitely hire them again when we have to move our office in spring. Guys are definitely professionals.

  8. Awful

Quoted $129 for a minimum of 2 hours (move was for one bedroom set to a home less than 10 miles away). Original move date: 12/17. E-mail sent to confirm move on 12/16 which I responded to. Movers did not show on 12/17. Move rescheduled to 12/28. Movers arrived 30 minutes after quoted arrival time. Job was completed in 90 minutes; and I was charged $496. The representative on the phone was extremely unprofessional. Company should invest in customer service training.

  9. Moving.

Update: If you have a complaint against the company it is your legal right to file a complain with the Better Business Bureau.

The company continues to avoid crediting the difference of amount from services rendered and pricing communicated from my initial call. I asked for the owner's contact information to contact directly for a resolution and was told only he (Thomas) handles these issues for the company. I have several concerns from the movers not presenting the contract before moving as referenced on the paperwork to the additional changes assessed for services that weren't rendered. I voiced these concerns to the movers as they presented the bill and escalated to Thomas and was told that they would not release my belongings unless I signed the receipt in its entirety. I was also told that Thomas would rectify the matter once he completed am administrative review of the situation. Further, the manager communicated that my initial call recording would be reviewed to ensure accuracy of my claim, yet this wasn't done. Upon review of online reviews of this company, it is apparent the practice of bullying consumers to pay more for their move under a situation of duress is nothing new. It is an unfair practice and overwhelmingly calculated to put the consumer in a position where they are forced to pay or risk having their belongings held on the truck by the movers. Their needs to be an investigation of the behaviors of this company so that no one else endures these repeated experiences. At the least, the consumers who have left complaints regarding the same should be contacted to have the opportunity to share what they experienced.

  10. Nightmare Movers.

I would not recommend Tristate of Rockville. They will make you pay BEFORE unloading your furniture (and overestimate the hours). Their movers do NOT wear masks and one of their movers was moving in his socks. The movers (1) made several large HOLES in the walls (2) broke furniture - RIPS in a couch and BROKE A LEG off a credenza (3) understaffed and overcharged (4) blamed the customer for damage to the walls and couch. The manager will not pay for damages or refund fees.

The move should have taken 3 hours with three people. Instead with two people, it took 5 hours, with my help and the movers themselves were not equipped for this move, despite the manager given information what to expect in terms of furniture and stairs at both locations.

The damage: $838 charged to my credit card + holes in the walls in the apartment and hallway (greatly upsetting my landlord) + damages to a couch (retailed $1200) and a credenza + time and energy to write the landlord and file the complain to Tristate. The call to the manager after the move met with blame shifting.

  11. Damaged furniture, etc.

In June I used this company to move approximately 4 miles. They moved a one bedroom apartment. What a disaster. Broken 42” tv, gold leaf heirloom, 2 wooden closets, screen door, walls damaged. Tried to contact Linda Haggerty and Gavriel. What a joke. Contacted BBB. They in turn also tried to reach this company to no avail. $1550.00 in damages. I want my money. Still working with BBB.

  12. Incredible experience. Highly recommend them !

We had to move our DC condo to storage until our place sold. These guys helped us through the whole process. Tom was great in explaining all the details. The crew was professional and wrapped everything so nicely. So this is a A1 company and if you get recommended by your agent they'll give you discounts. Ill keep you posted once they deliver everything.

  13. Stay away! Tri-State Area Moving = scammers who will rip you off!

I should have picked up on the signs of trouble before the move even happened-- their manager Linda wouldn't return my emails or phone calls in response to unjustified changes to my quoted service. Things went downhill on the day of the move. I had asked on several separate occasions before the move for advanced notice about timing to have Tri-State Area Moving stop at a storage facility to pick up extra furniture. I received no such notice, so the extra furniture pickup was not able to happen.

After the move was (partially) completed, I was then charged for services that weren't in fact rendered. For one, I was charged for an extra stop that wasn't made. Additionally, I was charged for 3 workers when only 2 were present during the move. I was also charged for 4.5 hours moving time when in fact it was 4.0 hours per the movers' clock.

The worst part of all of this is that NONE of my phone calls or emails were returned by either Linda or her manager after all of this happened. I ended up taking this to my credit card company.

Moral is: Stay away from Tri-State Area Moving! They are out to rip you off and then go unresponsive after they do. Total waste of time and money.

  14. Expensive and unorganized.

$89 for a flat rate and $139 per hour for three guys. It took them 2 hours to pack up my stuff, 1 hour to get to the new place, and 1 hour to unpack the truck. 4 hours right? It should have been $645. It was $1058. Also, my appointment was for them to arrive from 1:30 to 2. They arrived at 10 p.m. They said their first move of the day was a nightmare so they just pushed mine back. There was no compensation whatsoever.

  15. Customer service responded to my concerns using F word multiple times.

Moving from an small studio in Arlington I ended up paying more than $900 in moving fees. Which was unexpected based on my initial conversation with Jeff. He estimated my move for $530 . Calling the customer service didn’t help either as their short temper staff TOm kept using F Words on us. Now I’m seeing another fee of $100.00 on my card as holding fee which was supposed to be used for towards moving fee.. my experience was terrible. Don’t recommend at least for small moves.
