  1. Don’t try them they’re a scam

I made the mistake of hiring these goons when I moved from Washington state to Ohio. They left tons of items in my old house in Washington state-paintings my deceased grandmother and dad made, bath towels, baking pans etc. When they finally arrived in Ohio they had lost my mattress bed frame most of my cooking utensils computer and audio system. They also broke the glass in both China cabinets. I lost easily $4,000 in damages was given the run around and never got one dime back from them.

  2. Would give them fewer stars if I could!

Our horrendous experience started with Joshua Haber. He promised the moon and “worked hard” to come up with a discount for their services. I walked room by room through the house while on the phone to tell him what we had for the quote. I was confused that he kept asking about the number of boxes we had. We weren’t done packing so I had no idea how many boxes we would have. The boxes we did have were all sizes. I told him what furniture we had in each room and what items we had in our sheds. The quote he ultimately gave me for our 2100 sq ft home with two sheds was $8938.
We had been promised 4 workers. Only 3 showed up and they were 2 hours late. They walked into our house, began speaking to each other in Russian and shaking their heads. The lead almost instantly told me that it was going to cost us A LOT more. An hour and a half went by and he said it would be more like $11,000.00. I was furious. We were closing on our house the next morning at 9am. The man said we could not pay and get someone else. Obviously, that was impossible. That, apparently, was the point. They knew we had no choice.
Because they were not adequately prepared in manpower or equipment, they came back the next day. They did not show up until noon. I called Joshua several times and emailed him with no response. I talked to his “boss” who was completely useless. They did not finish loading until 4:30 in the afternoon. By that time, the new owners were already there. At the last moment, the lead handed me a document that said they were adding even more to the bill. It ended up being $12,953.00.
The delivery was worse. Once we set the delivery date, per the contract, they have up to 10 days to deliver. I made several phone calls to Angel that week attempting to get a definite date and time. She was unable to provide that. The eleventh day would have been a Monday. On the Friday before that, I received call from a Colorado 970 number stating their equipment had broken down and they were unsure when they would be able to repair it. I mentioned that Monday was the last day per contract. He said his concern was his equipment. On Sunday, we went to a town an hour and a half from our home. My daughter got a call that said they were ready for delivery. They were supposed to give us 24 hour notice. I called them and told them we weren’t home and they did not give us notice and that they would have to schedule for Monday. They said they would call the guy with the 970 number. I called back a half an hour later and they had not spoken to him but gave me the number. I was not able to get in touch with him immediately. When I did, he started by being exceptionally rude. I told him we were not home and had not been given notice. Eventually, after being unimaginably rude, he hung up on me. I called twice before he answered again. At that point, he started by calling me an f**ing b**h numerous times. He said he was going to throw our stuff in storage for 45 days just because he could do it. I told him I would contact a lawyer and that they could listen to him threatening because the phone was being recorded-the message when you call any Uptown number says the calls are recorded. He claimed it wasn’t recorded. My daughter finally called him and pointed out that she was listed on their invoice as the recipient and had not been notified at all prior. They agreed we would drive back. The drivers called and said their equipment had broken down again. They didn’t end up arriving until after dark in a snow storm. We were trying to mark things off as they unloaded it, but they would not put things in a manner that allowed us to do that. Ultimately, some items were broken and missing. We have no way of knowing how many things went missing because they do not check things off as they are delivered.
Uptown is every nightmare you have ever heard about moving companies. I intend to file a complaint with both state and federal agencies.

  3. WA to VA move.

Prompt arrival, very courteous and careful while packing. Communication has been clear and consistent the entire duration. Looking forward to meeting our belongings in VA.

  4. Thanks for your help!

I promised I would write a review once the move was complete so other people can see how my experience went. I'm glad I did my research ahead of time. I moved from Washington to South Florida on January 20. The price I was quoted on the phone was $3900.00 and my final bill was $4000 because I needed a few tv's packed. The movers were on time and it took them less than 5 hours to completely pack up my 2 bedroom apartment. Everything was wrapped very tight and the movers worked extremely hard. My delivery just arrived yesterday and nothing was broken! Over all my experience was great and would recommended this mover to anyone moving out of Washington.

  5. Solid move.

Moved from Denver to Florida, Andre was the foreman, did a full pack, highly recommend, everything arrived in same condition as when it left. Got my quote from Bill, he helped me every step of the way, let me know when they were coming for pickup and coordinated the delivery as well.

Everyone was in uniform, I usually never leave reviews, but these guys were top notch.

  6. Dont Use Uptown Movers.

This company is very dishonest in all their dealings and are unprofessional. Employees in all aspect of their business are deceitful. They picked up my items and promised to have it delivered in couple of days. Instead, my items were picked up and stored away in unknown facility and was delivered after almost 1 month. At the time of delivery, all my items were damaged. Also, 3 large items- Samsung dryer, TV stand and 3-seater sofa. The truck driver was very rude and damaged walls to my apartment while he was off loading my stuff. He also hired a guy from the streets to help him offload my stuff.
It took several phone calls and several emails to try to get to somebody to discuss my damaged/missing items. Eventually, Uptown referred me to a third party company to help me resolve my claims. After several months, the third party company decided that my damaged/missing items is only worth $70. What a slap on the face! At this point, I'm considering a lawsuit in order to be appropriately compensated. People should stay away from this company because it will steal your things and damage your items.
Suing the company involves going to Tacoma, Washington and hiring a lawyer. Most people don't have the time and money for such suit. I believe this is the reason the company is indulging in this sort of behavior. They're essentially taking advantage of the law and are being extremely negligent in handling people's property.

  7. Move from Oregon to Connecticut.

Job estimate: $8000. Once they started packing my house, the cost went to $12,000 from there another $4,000 total cost on delivery $16,000 When my stuff arrived boxes were missing, I have about $10,000 worth of stuff broken. Every thing you here about moving companies is true once they have your stuff they can charge you anything they want.

    Stay away from this company.

  8. Literally EVERYTHING is damaged.

Moving company: Uptown Moving & Storage. Job estimate: $6000. Once they started packing my house, the cost went to $10,000. On pickup day, they were 6+ hours late, arrived in a Uhaul truck, had hired help from Craig's List to load my belongings. They guarantee updated company trucks, uniformed/trained employees. My belongings were stored in a local storage warehouse down the street. They guarantee their own "state-of-the-art" storage facility. On delivery - they outsourced the drivers, trucks, and had Craig's List people unload. They guarantee no outsourcing. EVERY piece of furniture was damaged. The truck was packed poorly - our Vespa scooter was not wrapped, and was wedged up against the side of the truck. Our heavy snowblower was put on top of uncovered furniture and fragile boxes. No mattresses or furniture was protected. Our delivery came on two separate days. The second delivery/driver tried threatening to keep my belongings unless I paid him more. The same driver closed up his truck and threatened to drive away when he saw me taking pictures of how my things were thrown in his truck. Both delivery drivers were verbally abusive, and the first driver started an all-out screaming match in my driveway at 2am that resulted in the local police showing up. Uptown Moving & Storage is a scam, they owe me thousands for repair and replacement, and we are exploring perusing a breach of contract lawsuit against them with our lawyer. I have photos to demonstrate all of these claims, as well as a signed statement and contact information from the Craig's List people who were hired to unload the first delivery.
