  1. Thieves

I contacted a moving company that had great reviews, was NOT told they were a broker until too late. Long story short WVL arrived at my door (is how I discovered the brokerage game) then bullied me into paying an amount that doubled my estimate saying I had 500cbft when it was estimated and agreed with the ‘broker’ at 200cbft. I had no choice but to pay it as I was leaving the property. The men were RUDE AS FK. Then had the audacity to ask for a tip, which I didn’t give.

My stuff arrived 2 weeks later, from MO to CO!! The broker at US INTERSTATE VAN LINES kept ignoring my calls, and the receptionist rudely said each time I called, that she’d not seen any bad reviews about WVL’s (look on BBB!!) and kept telling me ‘he was on the phone’ when I asked to speak to my rep. No help from anyone when calling about when delivery would be. When my things finally arrived, I’m missing 6 boxes plus all boxes arrived battered and ripped. I’m now trying to get someone to find those missing boxes.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! And check that the company you initially call is NOT a broker.

Wish I could sue but it would cost me more money that I don’t have. SHAME ON YOU ALL.

  2. DO NOT USE

DO NOT USE THIS MOVING SERVICE!!!

it has been over 2months and our possessions have not been delivered. They do not answer calls, return emails, or offer any of the "excellent" service they state. They will not even let me come get my possessions! We are filing legal actions, but feel our stuff is gone

  3. DO NOT USE

I used Expo Van Lines (a delivery broker) for a move from Wichita to Kansas City, MO (Less than 200 miles) on Friday, May 14. Western Van Lines was the carrier that completed the job. I was told by Expo that the job may only take up to the weekend. When the movers came on the May 14, I was told that it could maybe take a week but no one could give me any concrete information. I called Western Van Lines on Monday, May 17 for an update on my delivery. I was then told for the FIRST time that my delivery could take anywhere up to 21 business days and that my items were in a warehouse in Missouri. That day was Monday, June 14. Last week, I’ve called both the carrier and the broker multiple times to get an update and have repeatedly been told that a delivery is being scheduled but had no additional details.

Items were finally delivered on Saturday, July 3. I still do not recommend using this broker for your move. Unfortunately it appears the behaviors of this broker and carrier are common in the moving industry, so do your homework and get everything in writing.

  4. DO NOT USE/ SCAM COMPANY

Long Distance Move from AZ to UT, it's not that long of a move.

They also go by Planet VAn lines, same address and info as each other. They hire 3rd party companies and drivers. They have multiple complaints with their DOT. stay away. they tell you what you want to hear and then you have to pay more $ after they show up to your house. Nobody should go thru this for their move. I have never had this bad of experience in my lift and will never get those 6 weeks back.

They claim to have broken down trucks all the time as an excuse. They answer the phone as Long Distance Moving company and they will never answer a straight answer on who their boss or who signs their check. They lead you on.

Pay extra $ with a reputable company.

  5. THE WORST COMPANY AND PEOPLE!

AVOID AT ALL COSTS! Though I know it's hard to avoid these scammers, because the only way they get hired is through a broker, where the customer has no say in who gets hired by these equally as shady brokers. No one would hire these people, unless they buy the LIES on their website:

    They claim:

42 Registered trucks (FMCSA says they have 2)

A+ BBB rating (as you can see here, they certainly do not)

46+ years experience (their phone recording says 75...yet they opened less than 2 years ago

    Long story short:

For our move from Phoenix, AZ to Charleston, SC: A Moving Broker (Complete Van Lines - based in Pompana Beach, FL, don't work with them either...) placed us with Western Van Lines. Just like everyone else, we were low-balled with a quote to begin with, which then doubled (with no proof as to why) when the actual moving came. Held hostage, we continued on. The promised 14 days pass (insert lots of unanswered calls, voicemails and emails). The 2nd promise of 21 business days passed (insert lots of unanswered calls, voicemails, and emails). Then, on business day 30 (the guaranteed delivery date as noted in the contract), in a text from the boss, they told us they will not deliver to us, and demanded we come get our belongings, which we gladly did, especially when were were promised a full refund (how kind....in typical WVL fashion, we have not received the refund. Obviously. (insert lots of unanswered calls, voicemails, and emails). We are out $5000+ and way more when you take into account our having to fly to Phoenix, rent a U-Haul and drive our stuff back to SC. Only thing left is small claims court, though even when we win, I'm sure we'll never be able to collect. Another fun tidbit: while we were loading the Uhaul (our stuff was still 1 mile from our house in Phoenix in a mini storage unit), the Western Van Lines representative (laborer) assaulted my husband. Cops came and diffused the situation. What kind of "company" assaults their customers!?

  6. THEY STOLE MY WHOLE HOUSEHOLE

Do not hire this company!!! They picked up my stuff and never heard from them again. I have filed Police reports, DOT reports, now I am hiring a PI. I will not give up. I want to know where it is stored.

  7. Delivery of out of state move

DO NOT USE THESE COMPANIES FOR YOUR MOVE. PLEASE CONSIDER OTHER OPTIONS.

This was the first and last time that they use this moving company. Compass Van lines went out of their way to book my move after I asked for a quote and we’re very responsive to all my questions and explaining the details up to the point that it was time to pick up my furniture. Another company Showed up to pick up my furniture without compass Van lines letting me know that they sold my job to another company. As I had to move my furniture out of the house that I just sold and needed to empty, I double checked The cost and deposit that I discuss with compass Van lines and this company,/moving and storage, had the same information. I watched three men pack my furniture and load it in the truck. They then asked for additional money without providing a receipt or inventory list or anything to identify that I have paid them or that they have my furniture in where they’re taking it. I was allowed to take pictures of the paperwork they had. I then spent the next three weeks calling Compass Van lines asking where my furniture is and when I should expect it and the response was always “it is in storage as we have not assign a driver to the job”. Then on the same day as I got that response from Compass van lines, “a moving company” texts me saying they will deliver tomorrow and need cash or post office money order for the remaining balance. The person texting didn’t identify themselves or their company. They showed up a day late and a driver in a truck without a company name demanded a payment. As we prepared a money order, we asked what company should the money order be made out to, he became agitated and requested a blank money order. When we refused to give him a blank payment for almost $3k, he threw the paperwork at us and drove away. Two different people called me trying to coordinate the delivery but no one could tell me what company the driver who had my furniture worked for. After about an hour of these calls, the driver returned and accepted a money order made out to western van lines, a company he claimed to work for. The driver and two other men began unloading my furniture with an occasional piece of someone else’s furniture. Most of my boxes and some of my furniture pieces were damaged and then I saw the delivery men drop and break my favorite night stand shelf and just shove it back in. At this point, I called western van lines to inquire how to start a claim for the damages but was notified that it wasn’t their delivery men at my house. I asked both customer service and driver to identify who is in my house and neither had an answer for me as the driver refused to state his full name (Tony). The customer service person claimed that there is no record of my delivery in their system and not knowing if the driver really works for western van lines.

The driver informed me that half of my things are still the the warehouse and he may return tomorrow (Saturday) to deliver the rest. An hour later, he returns to continue unloading majority of my things until about 8:30pm.

At this time, I finally got someone to tell me who is responsible for this disaster and claims and it was flash moving & storage.

As I’m going through my 4 bedroom move, many things are broken, damaged and a few missing. This move was $13K and the worst moving experience I’ve ever had. I wouldn’t accept this even if it was free.

  8. Have a bad feeling about Western Van Lines...

My FIL hired Western Van Lines to transport furniture from Albuquerque NM to San Antonio, TX. They picked up the furniture from his house the middle of February and we still have not received it. He was told it would be delivered ASAP / within a couple of weeks. That didn’t happen. I have called this company multiple times to check the status...after a couple weeks I was told by Shakira it was in the warehouse pending pick up from the driver for transport. I called back about 3-4 weeks later because I hadn’t received any type of update from them and was told by Shakira that it was in transit and I should be receiving it within the next week. That Week came and went and still nothing. I waited a few more weeks until I called them- trying to be patient...April 16th and I was told by another rep that I would be contacted within the next couple of days to arrange delivery/ provide an ETA. Here we are April 30th and still nothing. I tried calling the # provided again and now I get some voice recording- I can’t make out what it is saying but it almost sounds like “fool stop” a few times and the disconnects the call. I’m seriously heartbroken- the furniture has a lot of sentimental value and I’m afraid I will never see it. I’m at a point where I’m ready to file a report. If anyone reading this has a contact number for this company please post it here. I have 877-631-0660. I’m not sure what is going on with this company but something does not feel right...

  9. Terrible Communication/Breaking promises

My wife and I have had an awful time so far. We Let them know that we where ready to receive our goods on 3/15/21 and as of today 4/30/2021 that hasn't happened. They have broken contract, and after many attempts to get ahold of anyone who knew anything in their company one of their managers named Shakira told me that I would be receiving a $30 discount every day after the 21st workdays after I let them know I was ready to receive recieve my goods at my new apartment in Florida. I'm doubting that that will be honored due to the fact that they don't seem to keep their dates consistent. They said that they would be ready to drop off our goods at the beginning of this week but then told me 2 days ago that they were still in New Mexico at a storage facility. They they have told me multiple times that they would call me back and haven't. I have wasted many hours on the phone and I'm starting to doubt that we will ever get our stuff back including a bed which my wife depends on to sleep good at night due to her chronic pain with TMJ. We just want our stuff back..... we have already payed everything we where required. Going on 34 business days with only broken promises I'm looking into legal action.

  10. AVOID AT ALL COSTS

First of all, we used a broker (huge mistake as well), so we pretty much had no choice when Western Van Lines showed up our move day and we had to be out of our house, we were trapped with them and I'm still trying to wake up from this nightmare. They do not weigh your stuff like good movers, they "fluff pack" into a huge truck at pickup and tell you that your cubic feet is more so they can charge a few more thousand dollars at pickup. You really have no choice but to pay it, and they are sooooo nice at pickup you think they are going to take good care of your stuff. I also had bright colored duct tape on all our boxes with our last name on them, but they assured their labeling system would assure they lose nothing. WRONG!

Fast forward to the day I called with a delivery date, I get told everything is on schedule...only to find out they have "21 days from your delivery date to deliver". It is in the fine print, but coordinating delivery was a disaster, these guys are passing your stuff from truck to truck to truck, who knows where storage actually was with our move from CA to FL. When they made the first delivery, they were missing several boxes which I had pictures of, a mattress and some other furniture. They said they would bring it back in a few days and not to worry, and that they would also fix the huge scratch they put in our floors. That was a lie because it never happened and also, they delivered 90% of our items in a small horse trailer, so much for all our items not fitting in one giant truck at pickup. Scammers at their finest.

We had to chase these guys down for the remaining items, still never got 2 missing boxes which happened to have to memorabilia that we now know we should have shipped, nothing worth money just memories so we didn't think anything of it at the time. The mattress was so dirty and the desk was completely destroyed when they had sent pictures of it in tact when they said they would be delivering it later. We had to rent a uhual and meet them just to get the items and be done with them. Not to mention the drivers threating to just not deliver my items because I said I would call the cops if they did not bring them. They don't care about your items, they are out to get your money and bring what they don't destroy or lose. Even after calculating what they would owe us based on the contract, they offered us $70. Hahaha, that does not even cover the Uhaul we had to rent for them not fulfilling their part of the contract of "door to door service" and keeping an inventory more than drawing a squiggly line down the page.

Even if you use a broker, don't let these guys take your things, wait an extra day and get another mover.

  11. Lost a lot of my things took 3 months to deliver

I hired western van lines on December 21,2021 to deliver my items from south Bend Indiana to Beaumont Texas. They took my things to Kansas City Missouri without notifying me. My things sat there for 2 months. I got a call on March 12,2021 from a moving company in Houston Texas that western van lines hired them to deliver my items. . I told them I don’t want them to deliver my things and they REFUSED TO LET ME PICK UP MY THINGS THEY WOULD NOT ALLOW ME TO GET MY THINGS OUT OF STORAGE. they delivered my items on Saturday March 21,2021 and Im missing 10 boxes and my black & gold vase and my kitchen table. Western van lines has not gotten back to me regarding my missing items.

this company refused to accept their wrong doing. THIS IS A VERY CHEAP COMPANY AND YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR GHEY ARE HORRIBLE

  12. Terrible Experience

Sales rep lied from day one about delivery. Hidden fees and additional charges appeared after signing the contract. Belongings were damaged in the move and other people's furniture was delivered to me. Terrible communication regarding pick-up, transit and delivery. Phone calls went unreturned, promises to call right back never came through. A promise by the sales rep for delivery date was complete bogus - once they had my belongings the delivery date turned into a "window" which left me with no belongings for 3 weeks. My entire experience with this company was terrible. DO NOT use them.

  13. THE BAD REVIEWS DO NOT LIE. DO NOT CHOOSE THIS COMPANY. WESTERN VAN LI

You're reading reviews because you're deciding which moving company to choose - stop here. Do not choose Western Van Lines. Western Van Line is the worst moving company that we could have chosen, and I encourage everyone to read their reviews before booking, as they are all accurate.

We worked with a moving broker, US Standard and Moving company, who contracted Western Van Lines for our move from Florida to Mississippi. Western Van Lines is a fraudulent company with horrific customer service. They picked up our belongings on September 24th, and for 4 weeks, NO ONE could tell us where our items were and when they would be arriving. No one knew what state they were in, which storage unit and who would be driving them to us. Samantha and Jennifer, "customer service" at Western Van Lines were horrible at communicating with us and ultimately combative, regardless of how calm we were, and even ignored our calls and texts for weeks. We could not reach ANYONE who could tell us where all of our life's belongings were located. There is a reason they don't put their last names in their email signatures. On October 22nd, they called to tell us that they would be arriving and would not even attempt to deliver our goods into our apartment complex due to the size of the truck, even though both myself and the apartment complex manager assured them there is plenty of room for their truck, and even showed them another 18-Wheeler that was parked within the complex. They forced us to pay an extra $500 to even begin to deliver the items, and then would not even SHOW us our items inside the closed U-Haul until we paid in full, in cash - ILLEGALLY WITHHOLDING GOODS. They told us that they would be charging us an hourly rate while they transferred our items from the large UHaul to the shuttle UHaul, on the account of "waiting to deliver" - at this point, we followed them on their way to retrieve the smaller UHaul and we caught them riding around the town killing time, unnecessary U-turns, riding around backroads, etc. We then called the police to report our goods stolen, and at the sight of the police, the delivery drivers became aggressive and threatened us. We now have a police report filed with our city citing their comments and their threatening behavior. Did you ever think you would need a police report when working with a moving company? No? Us either.

They finally arrived back with our belongings AND MORE THAN HALF of our boxes were missing, not even loaded on the truck, and our large sectional couch and vanity were completely broken beyond repair. They broke their contract that specifically stated they had 30 business days, excluding weekends, to deliver our goods - therefore, we should have NEVER paid full price for a service that was INCOMPLETE. When I called Jennifer at customer service, they told me the contract says that they can deliver "most of" our items by the 30 days...this is inaccurate and downright stupid. They broke their contract. Magically, nearly a month later, now November 17th, they "found" our items and delivered the boxes absolutely crushed.

This company should be shuttered and internally investigated, as they broke their contract we both legally entered and we were forced to pay in full for an incomplete service and to receive our items broken, damaged, and in need of hundreds if not thousands of dollars of repair.

  14. Holding belongings hostage and increasing cost of move

This company is a complete scam. Do not use them.

Western Van Lines moving company has been holding my belongings hostage for over two months. Additionally they keep increasing the cost of my move. I hired Western Van Lines for my cross country move from San Francisco, CA to Brooklyn, NY. They picked up my belongings on September 10, 2020. Upon pickup they told me my move would cost over $1000 more than I was quoted because the space estimate given to me was incorrect (intentionally misleading). The sales person I dealt with is Marty Spector - he has several negative reviews written about him and how he has lowballed other customers who are charged much more for their move the day of pickup.

My belongings were supposed to be delivered within three weeks. It's been over two months, every time I called them I was told there were no drivers and there was nothing they could do to get my belongings to me. However, I was told that I was entitled to a reimbursement of $30/day for every day after the 30 day mark that the deliver was late. This totaled $450. Only once I threatened legal action, did they find a driver. Two days before my delivery the dispatch called me to let me know that there would be an additional $450 charge to cover "shuttle service", moving my belongings from the larger truck to a smaller truck to deliver them. This effectively negated the reimbursement I was due thanks to some very convenient accounting. I live on a wide street in Brooklyn that gets deliveries from semi-trucks regularly so there is no need for the additional shuttle service. I was told that the need for shuttle service was determined by the company and there was no way to change that. So after being initially taken advantage of with a fake-lowball quote, and living without my furniture and belongings for two months, I was then told that the reimbursement for the inconvenience that I was due was negated because of a service that they determined was needed and conveniently totaled the exact amount of the reimbursement due to me. This company is a fraud and seeks to take advantage of customers.

I have filed complaints with the attorney general of Florida (where this company is actually based), The Better Business Bureau, and the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration. This company should not be allowed to do business.

  15. Long distance move from Tacoma, WA to Stillwater, OK.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!! At first they give you a great quote and good customer service. But once they get your furniture the story changes..the costs go up and they don't return your phone calls.

Western Van Lines picked up our furniture on September 1, 2020. My husband and I headed out for Oklahoma and when we got here I called to see when delivery would be and was told the delivery date is 18 days from the time you will be at your new location..not from the day they picked up the furniture. We are seniors on a limited income and could not afford to stay in a hotel for 18 days so we rented an air mattress and sat on a walker and wheelchair in our empty apartment. Then at the end of 18 days we were told they have 30 business days to deliver our furniture. We could not continue living like this so we rented a couch and bed at a cost of $200!! Plus we had to buy pots, pans etc. so we could eat something other than sandwiches!

I kept calling and was continually told that they had not found a driver and that our furniture was still in their storage facility in Washington. Finally on October 2, 2020 we received a call from the driver and he said they would be delivering our furniture the next day and the money order needed to be made out to a different company.

When they came, all the boxes were in shambles and many items were broken, one cabinet was totally destroyed and we were missing our TV stand and shoe rack.

To process a claim, you have to follow their instructions but we don't have access to scanners, printers, etc., so I called to see if they could work with me and accept another form of acceptance and was told "nope"..that's a scam too!!

Please don't use this company!! Even if your quote is a little higher with a reputable company..go with them!! DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!
