  1. Got Cha.

I decided to go with these movers based on the smooth and calming voice of the salesperson, Charles. He assured me everything would be fine, that Worldwide Valued me as a customer and our relationship would be solid. It was not until we had finally hashed out the details and the contract came over that I realized that they were a broker and not the actual moving company. By then it was too late to try to find someone else. I paid for the move up front and even padded the amount of the weight to cover any unexpected problems. It took 22 days for my property to arrive. A total of 5 boxes were missing, several items were damaged, and my 37" flat screen television never arrived. A flat screen I paid an additional $100 to have crated so it would not be damaged (the movers used one of my boxes to cut open and wrap the television in a blanket). However, they did deliver a brown suitcase that does not belong to me..and I let them know that on several different occassions. I submitted my claim to Worldwide and the moving company who stated my load was 300 pounds over what I paid for. They somehow did not get the memo from Worldwide that I had actually over paid the weight. Maria, their dispatcher/customer service person all but hung up on me during one phone call. She was short and not very apethetic to my problems. I submitted my claim immediately after my move and to this date I still have not received any resolution. My advice to anyone considering using Worldwide, do yourself a favor and pay the extra money for the peace of mind of using a reputable company with their own fleet of trucks and movers.  .

  2. Horrific! It's a scam!

Worldwide Van Lines, through its independent contractor, attempted to scam me.  I'm in the process of reporting my whole experience to the Dept. of Transportation.  It's a long sordid story. I'll just set forth the highlights.
The Worldwide Van Lines esimator was Leo.  Friendly, courteous, and seemed reasonable ethical.  We spent considerable time on the phone one day going room-by-room and item-by-item of the larger household goods.  Although I was skeptical of not having a live person walk through the house, he explained how the computer worked and that it builds in a "10% cushion" just in case. It all seemed okay and his esitmate of roughly 8,000 lbs. seemed reasonable.  The price was right too: $5,000.  The contract was titled "Non-Binding Etimate Form" and provided a penalty if the weight was more than agreed.
Eventualy it was move-out time.  The driver called 30 minutes before he arrived.  He had one helper.  The driver had very poor command of English; the helper was more fluent. They continually spoke Hebrew to eachother and when on the phone.  Had they not been on the phone incessantly, I wouldn't have minded as much.  But as it was, they were entirely unfprofessional.
My house was ready for move-out. All boxes were packed. There were few large items anywhere but on the main living floor, as my wife and I had already moved nearly everything closer to the doorways to make life easier on the movers.  The driver and his helper initially liked it too.
The driver presented me with some forms. He asked me to sign or initial each. He then caught me totally off guard when he said, "I have to be honest with you."  That usually wakes you up, especially if you're busy signing something.  The driver went on to say that in his 4 years of experience he would esimate the household weight at "up to 20,000 lbs." Not the roughly 8,000 Worldwide Van Lines' estimator developed through the aid of his computer.  To move this house, said the driver, will cost you an additional $5,000.  What? I asked how Worldwide Van Lines' estimate could be so far off, but the driver assured me that the company intentionally underbids jobs to get business.  That seemed plausible, so I tried calling Worldwide Van Lines. No one answered. (The next day Worldwide said it's phone system had malfunctioned.)
The driver continued to advise me that no moving company could make money on the initial estimate, that everyone would require more money.  He essentially tried to strong-arm me into an 11th-hour deal while we're sitting amongst my boxes and furniture, ready for move-out.  He said that Worldwide Van Lines intentionally underbids jobs to capture business. That  seemed plausibe too.
The driver concluded by offering me two options: Either pay the $5,000 or agree to a pricing scheme based on volume, not weight.  Neither sounded right, so I kicked them out.  The next day I called Leo at Worldwide Van Lines.  He feigned surprise and even managed a chuckle at the situation.  Utlimatey, I went with Atlas.  It was downright pleasant by comparison.  The price was roughly $6,500 for 7,000 lbs.  Their driver never had me sign additional docs, and even called with the weight: 6,700 lbs. So much for up to 20,000 lbs.
All this to say Worldwide Van Lines, through its independent contractors, attempted to perpetrate a scam. In my opinion, Worldwide Van Lines was complicit in this scam and deserves censure.  We'll see what the Dept. of Transportation says. .

  3. Dishonest company.

Only one thing to say : NEVER USE THEM FOR MOVING

Very dishonest. Even if they offer you free moving, do not trust them They are big cheaters. They charged us extra $1300 for overweight. But they refused to reweigh our stuff to confirm the overage. Very bad customer service. Offensive languages. They made the moving a nightmare to us.
I repeat: NEVER USE THEM FOR MOVING.

  4. World Wide Van lines is a rip off, DO NOT USE THEM.

I contacted World Wide Van lines for a upcoming move. The Guy I talk to was Mitch and he sold it as per weight move and Quoted 1687.00 with a 576.00 deposit. This sales person even encouraged me to follow the truck to a weight station so that I would know what the weight was and the remaining cost. He quoted this price and said that I possibly would get a discount. Well the day of the move some third party moving company showed up at the door and wanted 2100.00, this did not include the 576.00 that I paid to World Wide Van lines. I was put in the position to either cancel or take the job, I was in a situation where I had to get out of the house. So I allowed this 3rd party moving company pack up my things. They were actually pretty good I was able to get the price down to 1600.00 dollars. But I still lost the 576.00 to World Wide, whom apparently takes your money just to enter it into a computer bidding system for other moving companies to bid on. I tried calling World Wide and was hung up on, transferred to a blank extension. Even had some dude name Michael act like he was a supervisor. I got know where with these people. One individual gave me a name Of Darrel at extension 405 supposedly a General Manager. Whom I called but yet to receive a call back. These people will rip you off take your money that does not apply to your moving cost.

  5. The mover truck would not start.

This was the worst experience, of our lives, 1st thing they came about 5 hours late. The driver did not have a hand truck nor a furniture dolly, so he had to use minds, which I had no problem.During the loading of the truck , the driver finds out that the truck battery was dead, but he waited until he finish loading the truck,to worry about getting it started. He went to about 8 house in my neighborhood, at 10PM to get jumper cables. After getting the truck started, I had to follow the truck to a weight scale, where I found out that I had to pay another $2500.. YES that's RIGHT, $2500. After paying this, we was told that the truck would be in New Orleans on that Saturday between 2Pm and 4PM, he showed up Monday at 7AM. There is much , MUCH more I could say about this company, but one more main point that I must say, and that is, this driver had satanic tatoos all over his back, that was VERY OFFENSIVE to my family.. This was the BIGGEST NIGHT MARE in move I ever had. OH by the way, His truck need a jump in New Orlean also !!

  6. Poor Service Broker.

THEY ARE ONLY A BROKER!! they will contract your move out and usually to a poor company that is not licensed and insured even though they should be based on the contract but we found after that ours was not and had cancelled his insurance leaving us with damages and no recourse. The mover was late and the reason is they use the back roads to bypass the weigh stations and inspections. you will be pushed to pay more for every detail and even as we pushed back we were lucky and only paid based on the contract but the average person would have been scammed. Be very cautious on using them, they lie, and will take your money and wont want to talk with you ever again. the reason they don't accept credit cards at pickup and delivery is because you can't dispute cash and their contract is written to fight the best merchant complaint. I would never use them again and hope no one else does either.

  7. Rippoff Beware Nightmare.

Worst Decision I made. I paid a $500 deposit in August for this move. Pick up date was 9/27/11 with a delivery date for Oct 1, 2011 so I thought!!.
Albert was very knowledgeable in the beginning to get the account. Everything changed 9/27/11. It was not clear until the night before my move that World Wide Van Lines set me up with a bogus sub company Florida Southwest Van Lines. I tried to contact them several times about this matter they refuse to respond to any emails, phone calls, faxes.
I repeatedly emailed Albert he referred me to customer service each time. Phones didn't work for two days with customer service. I faxed my information still no response. I received no notice that a different company would do the move. Therefore it didn't allow me to choose another company. I realized I paid $500 for them to choose another BOGUS company.
THEY LIE DON'T USE THIS COMPANY EVER !!
I still have not received my belongings.

  8. Please do not be fooled.

They will give you a low quote and promise pickup within a 48 hour window. Their site makes it appear that they have their own trucks and drivers. They picked up two days late, lied to us on numerous occasions - when we could get them on the phone. They NEVER returned phone messages. The driver told us their quotes are never correct and charged us DOUBLE what was quoted. He refused to weigh the shipment and we were never given the actual weight. We were told en route that they had another job to do so our stuff would be put in storage and we'd get it "sometime in the next 21 days". The truck broke down twice (supposedly). It did NOT belong to World Wide Van Lines. When our stuff was delivered it was wet - even INSIDE the boxes - and there was a lot of damage. We were told that they had to change trucks in St. Louis and "it was raining". Subsequent calls to the company has yielded NOTHING. We filed a damage report and have not even been acknowledged. We have filed complaints with the Federal Trucking people who oversee truckers and with the Better Business Bureau. We plan to file a class action lawsuit if we can find others who have been taken in.

  9. Warning!!

I provided a detailed inventory list to Eugene, the salesman who sets the prices. The destination of my move was 5 hours away, to Georgia from Fayetteville, NC. I received a price, and had the company add in writing that it was to be a binding price. Before the truck arrived, several hours late, I had sold my elipitical machine and a bedroom set (armoire, queen bed and two night stands) which had been on the inventory list, these items should have freed up more space and decreased the weight significantly. I found when the driver arrived in a 22' Penske truck, not only did he have 1/4 of the truck full of someone else's items, but he was alone, he was waiting for the help to arrive, which turned out to be a guy they found on CRAIG'S LIST, on top of that they contract out to World Wide Transfer to coordinate your move and some guy in Kissimmee, Fl, Bobby (not his real name) is your only contact, he is rude and difficult to deal with. The driver and I were loading into the night and in the pouring rain, the Craig's list hire had to leave to go to another job, so the driver and I sat for hours waiting for another Craig's List hire to show up, finally two hours later he arrived, we worked until 12:00 AM and decided the driver would come back in the morning, he arrived several hours late because his truck broke down. He could not get another Craig's list hire in time so he and I loaded the truck with the help of a neighbor who was in the army at Ft. Bragg. We found that they had miscalculated the size of the truck needed and the driver and I had to load items into the front seat of his truck and the trunk and front and back of my car. He still could not fit all items, so I ended up giving to my neighbor approximately $400.00 worth of items. It was too late to try to use anyone for storage because we were due to leave, I had already paid for two more days rent at my condo and lost money on reservations for a hotel that I was supposed to have stayed at the night before if the move was on time. AFTER ALL OF THIS NIGHTMARE, they are REFUSING to compensate me for the items I had to give away, they are the WORST company I have ever dealt with, and I've made many moves. YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR- DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY.

  10. WORLD WIDE VAN LINES is absolutely the worst business - HANDS DOWN!!

On moving day, 5 movers show - NO MOVING VAN!! They wait for 90 minutes then leave; we receive a call that the driver was taken to the hospital (a lie). 8:30 pm 2 guys show up with a U-Haul. They say there is no way we will fit in a one U-Haul. After numerous unanswered calls to every number at WORLD WIDE VAN LINES, we work out a new higher price with the subcontractor. They load 2 U-Hauls and the subcontractor promises to leave Atlanta the next day at 10 am. 11 pm the next night we get your worst nightmare call - they have lost the $500 cash deposit, have no money for gas and can't leave Atlanta until we wire them money. We tell them we are calling the Atlanta police - somehow they find cash. They arrive in Virginia; our furniture sits in the trucks while WORLD WIDE VAN LINES fights with the subcontractor. The sheriff shows up, called by the subcontractor. Hire WORLD WIDE VAN LINES ONLY IF you crave drama, police visits, RUDE customer service, extortion and broken furniture!!

  11. They Plain Suck.

We had an contract to pick up all my stuff on the 7th of July. I had called them on the 6th to confirm. Maria said they will come on the 9th coz there truck broke down.
They will be there First thing Monday morning. Told them I had an closing on Monday there was no way for us to be there waiting on you guy's. They said we will be there on Monday 100%. So we had to leave key's to the house outside and hope none of our stuff gets stolen. Well Monday rolled in called them and they said we will call you back well that never happen.Almost an week went by never heard anything from them. They say they are open mon-sat that is bull** they will not answer they are closed. They will ask for an depoist and say that it is just an hold you will not be charged but guess what they will charge you. The only thing good that happen was I got my money back pretty quick. I repeat I will NOT RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY TO ANYONE.. PLEASE READ OTHER REVIEW'S DO NOT USE THESE PEOPLE AT ALL.

  12. Bad Movers Dont go With Them.

They Lie and quote one price and then you pay twice as much . Then you try to call them and no one answers the phone or your voicemails and then they skirt around the problem.
    DO NOT GO WITH THEM.

  13. Furniture move.

I had trouble getting my furniture from my original shipper. I contacted World Wide and he said he could help me out. I gave him an inventory list he gave me a quote. He never told me that he was a broker. When the movers showed up to pick up my stuff, they told me that it would cost me an additional $5000.00. I was quoted by weight. The mover told me he was an expert and knew that my furniture weighed twice as much as I was quoted. He refused to load my furniture and left me high and dry. My wife and I tried contacting World Wide to get our money back. We called for hours, nobody would answer the phone and we kept getting an answering machine. When we finally got to talk to someone they kept putting us on hold and hanging up. We had to threaten them with the authorities, and they finally said we would get our money credited back. We'll see.

  14. Scam Never Use.

I received a quote and locked it in for 1600.00 for my move from Arizona to Massachuetts. I was told everything was included and they did not subcontract and only moved one home per truck. The movers showed up, mind you they were subcontractors, with another persons household in the back. They said nothing was included when I called worldwide they said nothing was included I would have to pay for wrapping & tape. While I was speaking to them, the drivr called his boss who told me either I pay them 2500.00 or they leave my stuff on the front lawm and will not move my things. Being a single mom and doing this alone Iagreed just to get my stuff cross country. Here it is, June 27, 2011, my furniture was picked up on May 20th and I still do not have my belongings! The dispatchers at worldwide never call me back, the drivers wont call me back. I have no idea were my things are, if I will ever get them and my life is on the truck! Mind you, my 8 month old baby (about to be 9 months), my 7yr old daughter and I have been sleeping on an airmatress and pack n play for a month! These people ae heartless and scam artists.. I will be reporting my things stolen.

  15. Worst Nightmare Ever.

Tried Moving from Arizona back to New Hampshire. Paid deposit, scheduled for 21 June and no one showed until the end of the 48 grace period. No honesty and a Budget truck showed up finally after 2 days wait then proceeded to double our quote. Tried to charge an additional 300.00 for packing 3 mirrors and our TV which was supposed to be covered in the costs. After arguing over it with the mover he decided to leave which was fine. We got a Uhaul and did it all ourselves in about 2 hours. Don't waste your time or money. Will be surprised if we can get our deposit back of $250.00.
