  1. Highly destructive and not reliable company

Allied Van Lines damaged my brand new sofa pretty bad during the delivery, that plus other damages. Without even trying, the moving crew decided that the sofa was too big to use the elevator. Instead, they decided to bring it up to the third floor using the stairs without any extra protection further than the plastic film used to protect from dust. They ripoff pieces of the sofa by strong friction against concrete walls, cement floors, and roof. Their settlement letter, in regards to the sofa; $125 plus $500 dollars that come out of my pocket (deductible) after choosing their standard full value protection for carrier liability. The amount offered is to cover a cheap and very poor patch-up solution that consists in pulling up the fabrics to cover the ripoff pieces, according to the sofa manufacturer, this will leave the item below quality standards subject to unevenness, tearing, tension on the fabric and leave visible areas where the upholstery will not be consistent. They damage and they push the costumer to receive peanuts. Certainly a moving company to avoid!

  2. RUINED OUR ENTIRE SUMMER

    PLEASE READ BEFORE USING ALLIED!!!!

First off, I have moved domestically and internationally via professional moving services more than 5 times in the past decade, and have never had a worse experience. I would STRONGLY ADVOSE using anyone else, including doing the work yourself, as our experience ended up costing us much MUCH more than we paid for the service ($14,000 BTW...)

First Major Issue: 22 Days Late

We had several quotes for full service moving (full packing, moving, unloading, and treadmill service). We chose Allied due to the fact that they had "availability" and could get us into our home 2 - 6 days after our load day. Giving us a month to get settled in before our planned summer vacation. Not only did our things take 30+ days to arrive, we had ZERO visibility to when they would arrive. We lived for 4 weeks on hard floors, air mattresses, dining out, and little entertainment for our kids (we have a 3 and 5 year old btw...). The delay also resulted in us cancelling out July 4th family vacation, as we only brought a weeks worth of items.

2nd Major Issue: Many Items Never Showed Up!

After half of our summer, and missed holiday were spent on hardwood floors and camping chairs our moving day arrived... We were sooo relieved. That was until the movers completed the unloading and we did not have any of our living room couches, our dining table, or our treadmill. So our floor living continues.... We are now 8 days past the unpack date, and still have no idea when these critical pieces of furniture will arrive. It turns our our couches were shipped to Michigan, and our other times never left Houston (our move was from Texas to Tennessee)... I have reached our via LinkedIn to Sr. Leadership who have been completely unresponsive, and all I can get out of the Customer Service group is that "they are working on it."

3rd Major Issue: More damage than any other move in the past

I do understand that some damage can be done in transit, but we had about 10 boxes that look like they were left in the rain (mold growing on the inside) after sitting water logged in the Texas, or Tennessee, or Michigan heat for weeks and weeks.

We are now asking that we be reimbursed for a UHAUL and gas, so that I can drive 10 hours to Michigan to pick up my own things... Otherwise, we are running the risk of not having seating or dinning furniture in place when family is scheduled to visit in August...

YOU WILL LOSE OUT ON MONTHS OF YOUR LIFE, AND THOUSANDS AND THOUSANDS OF $$$ IF YOU ARE MOVING ACROSS STATES WITH ALLIED.

  3. Lost or stolen @ damaged

Missing 10 boxes, a 24 ft ladder, scraped walls in new home, bent @ twisted the barbecue arrived 2 day's late, use @your own Risk!

  4. Movers Late! Horrible Service!

I accepted a job in South Carolina from Michigan. Movers picked up on 9/4 prior to Labor Day to deliver by 9/12. They called in 9/4 to tell me they did not have a driver. Wow! It was too late now. It’s 9/15 and still my property is not here. It’s horrible. The sales team is not supportive and said

“ sometimes it happens” .. you get $100 a day for delays. I’m worried they may never get here and I will have to take legal action. The sales team has just passed the responsibility to the driver.

  5. Where are my belongings?

I paid over $3,000 to have Allied Van Lines to move me. I was told my things were to be delivered three days ago. I keep calling and they keep saying the movers should call. I have been sitting here for four days waiting for a phone call. I have things to do and this is incredibly frustrating. The man who arranged the move was wonderful but it seems that they just took everything I owned and disappeared into the night. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND! This was a very small shipment that I could have put into a U-Haul if I were not a 59 year old woman with a bad back.

  6. Service.

I give them 5 Stars for consistency - being consistently bad. From picking up the stuff to delivering, it was a nightmare. I move every 3-4 years and this time we picked Allied - HUGE MISTAKE. If you want to pay premium and get good service, Allied is not the one you should be considering (we paid $8500 for 4 bedroom move in two parts and self packed a lot of stuff).

We had sold our house and were in hurry to leave. Movers showed up at 1 PM whereas promised time was 8 AM! It seems like that Allied had determined that getting the A/C fix was more important than keeping promises with customers and A/C can’t wait until the afternoon! We were supposed to leave for MA from Pittsburgh, PA that day which did not happen.

When they arrived at our apartment in MA, we told them that masks are required by state regulation and provided them masks. The driver refused to wear it and got into argument with other tenants and the staff had to be called. In the end there was only one person that was moving stuff. Quite an embarrassment for us as new neighbor.

Allied packed the furniture so badly (tightly) that it broke the table legs! They also managed to shatter a very expensive china figurine that we had specifically told them needs extra attention (that piece had moved several times and was safe because the movers cared).

Claim processing was another nightmare. Person dealing with us did not have the right information and expected us to provide “number” on boxes which we had already thrown away. To make a long story short they gave us $60 (yes $60) based on the weight cause we had a crapy insurance. No responsibility whatsoever.

Allied will not be our mover of the future.

  7. Moved from Houston, TX to Utah.

The worst moving experience I have EVER had. I’ve moved states 3 times prior. And moved 5 times within the state.

Dale Morgan (Westheimer Transfer & Storage) came out to walk my house. Most of our stuff was boxed and sitting in my garage. So, to me it seemed very clear how much we had and what needed to be loaded. He saw everything and gave me a quote. We received 3 bids and went with Allied.

Loading day: The truck showed up with a prior load so the crew was unable to get all our stuff loaded. After trying to contact the office unsuccessfully, I was assured by the crew they’d get the rest on another truck the next day.

Allied showed up the next day with a box truck (REALLY?!?) STILL unable to load everything. I needed to leave so I could meet the driver in Utah to let him in our house to unload. Again, after being reassured they get everything I left. About 3 hours into my drive to Utah I get a call from Dale Morgan who then tells me that I need to pay a third party to come take apart our weight gym. THIS WAS THE FIRST I HEARD OF THIS. (Remember he walked my house and SAW everything) So, I ended up paying $300 to a third party to come take apart the weight gym while I was driving. I felt taken advantage of because I was backed into a corner. Hire the company or they wouldn’t load the gym.

5 days later the first truck showed up in Utah. Took about 6 hours to unload. 2 guys to unload and driver were excellent. Didn’t realize UNTIL AFTER THEY LEFT that they left a mattress standing up in my garage. 2 beds arrived out of 5 so my kids slept on the floor. I had to go buy a mattress so my kids had something to sleep on. (I was reimbursed – because we bought the full coverage insurance)

15 days later the SECOND truck shows up. (My kids first day of school in a new state, new school, new friends – they should have been done before they got home from school, right?! NOPE!) Took 3 guys 10 HOURS to unload. The driver worked hard. The 1st guy acted like he didn’t know anything so I stood outside most of the time reading boxes to him. The 2nd guy slept on the front lawn for 6 hours! Yes, you read that right 6 hours! At 8 pm I made a call to corporate to complain. (I missed EVERYTHING great about my kids FIRST day of school) They claimed they couldn’t get a couch through the front door so they left it in the garage.

68 days later the THIRD truck showed up. Half my stuff looked like it was stored outside. (Even after being reassured that it was being kept in a climate-controlled storage unit in Houston)

So, Original contract stated our stuff would arrive in 7-10 days BUT they took 68 days…………………………

The people I dealt with lied continually about the status of our stuff, never answered or returned my calls, made promises that clearly, they never intended to keep. BUT WERE PAID IN FULL THE SAME DAY ¼ OF MY STUFF LEFT HOUSTON. I’ll spare you the long list of lies I was told by Dale Morgan and Angie and the few others that work in the Houston office.

This ALL could have been a delightful experience IF THEY WOULD HAVE SHOWED UP DAY 1 WITH AN EMPTY SEMI TRAILER.

3 loads and with each load different items were left in my garage claiming they couldn’t get it through the door. I had to hired a local moving company 3 TIMES to move items into my house. Things were damaged along the way.

The company they hired to come out to fix broken, ripped or damaged items were great to work with. This was an awful experience, awful!! I wouldn’t use this company to move if it was gifted to me. Please save yourself the stress and heartache and HIRE a different company.

  8. Move from Florida to North Carolina.

Please don't use Allied Van Lines. My move from FL to NC cost me an Arm an a leg--What they didn't tear up, they lost or stole. Then, I had the hassel of dealing with claims department. They were useless. Worst moving experience in my life. I will never use Allied Van Lines nor will recommend them to others. The contract I signed when I hired them was not upheld on their end.

  9. Allied Van will destroy your belongings!!

Preparing to move, my family and I rented a large UHaul to transport some furniture and essentials. We knew there would be an unavoidable risk of breakage en route, and accepted that some of our things would be damaged no matter how well packed. However, we hoped that hiring professionals who do this very thing for a living, and present their unique training as cause for specialized retention and payment, would mitigate that risk We were gravely mistaken in choosing Allied Van Lines (through Alliance Moving Systems, in Gypsum, CO) and write this to hopefully save someone else the same heartache.

On load day, I provided plenty of boxes, packing blankets, wrapping paper, tie downs and plywood sheets. I explained to the movers that this load would be going across the county and traversing several mountain ranges, so I needed firm security. While loading, I noticed they were wrapping all the furniture in only a bit of cellophane, and they refused my request to use the blankets, obliging me to call their supervisor. I was told essentially to mind my own business, but the blankets were indeed utilized—to wrap pillows! The majority of the wood furniture was carelessly protected, the boxes were stacked haphazardly without regard to weight order; many heavy boxes were stacked up high, and only a few horizontal straps applied, while most of the plywood sheets were stacked inanely on the side.

This and more were discovered when we began unloading. A full stainless steel grill was demolished due to collapse of top heavy loading, and heavy boxes were found to have been loaded on its flimsy, unsupported wings; a curve-armed wooden loveseat was stood on end, and heavy boxes fell on the ribs en route, bursting them; glass shelves to a curio cabinet were wrapped in a few pieces of paper, stood on end loose against the wheel well and were discovered shattered; dumbbells were placed randomly throughout load, and one 20lb weight was found sitting on a naked wood armoire into which it had gouged a hole, and many other boxes, pieces of furniture and equipment suffered damage ranging from crush injury to utter destruction, which were too varied and numerous to warrant specific recording. Meanwhile, again, the blankets I provided went to wrap pillows, the boxes I had collected went unused, etc. Thus, all my efforts to prevent the worst by providing supplies were disdained, my respectful concerns were met with deplorable customer service, our belongings were treated with downright contempt, and we ultimately suffered excessive--and needless--loss.

  10. Worse moving.

Do not use this company as it is a complete joke. They do a poor job and forget trying to file a claim because they give you a run around and then deny you with no proof of reason. Just don’t do it!

  11. They are Pirates not a moving Company.

USE ALLIED AT YOUR OWN RISK, they lost or stole 2 of our items, PLAYSTATION 4 AND THE ORIGINAL NINTENDO 1988 CONSOL STILL IN THE BOX, Damaged our new samsung dryer and an antique drawer, 5 boxes with fragile wrtitten were damaged also.
We moved from south carolina to Pensylvania and hired these guys, which was the biggest mistake we have ever made.
They were super friendly when giving me a quote and taking my money but when things got delivered and I complained about the missing items and damaged goods, they just kept passing me from one dept to another, Spoke to a lady on their claims dept named Cindy who wouldn't listen to a word I had to say on the first call and just kept telling me to fill out the claims report when all I wanted to do was explain what had happened with our items and if she could verbally give me more information, but no she did not want to talk and I swear to god even said if you are not happy you can file a complaint with the Police. I mean what!!
I was furious inside but stayed calm on the call as im not a confrontaional person. I wanted her to tell me the process of how they can find my things not fob me off like she was trying to do and tell me we have the right to take upto 90 days to look into your claim and tell me we would write to you not call you.. lol.. I couldn't believe it but obviously couldn't do anything either so I said ok. After a month and half,
They refused any claim on the missing items as they put it was not on the list they made. Please note they Loaded the truck with hundereds of item from our house, once the truck is loaded the driver comes to you and asks you to sign the sheet confirming everything was loaded. Now what I see on the sheet is total jargon some items like sofas, washer dryer like big items were clearly there and the number of boxes, so I looked and signed it, not knowing they did not actually write playstation and nintendo, I assumed as it was in the box they just wrote box like they did with many other electronic items. Example Kureg didn't say kureg on the sheet, airpurifier etc, it just said box, but we got those and surprisingly not the the game consols. lol. If that is not delibrate theft please tell me what is.
Percentage of yourself puts alot of trust in the comapny so you also assume they cannot get lost or stolen lol how mistaken was I.
We consider ourselves good and honest people and wouldn't just a make a claim for the hell of it. We tipped the 3 pick up drivers 100 dollars cash and gave them 4 bottles of alcohol worth over a 100 dollars and also gave the drop off driver 120 tip, so this claim wasn't just about the money. These were our things which we put 100% trust on this company to deliver back to us and it make's your blood boil when anyone steals from you like they did.
This was the first time we used a moving company and learnt alot, and learnt that you should just pay a little more and use a more reputable company than one that steals your goods and won't help you when something they did goes wrong.
I would never write a negative review if I wasn't happy with just the service, but when someone steals from you, you bet I will go all out to make sure this doesn't happen to no one else and that they should avoid these pirates at all cost. Absloute disgraceful Company.

  12. Never Use Allied or North American Van Lines.

The best thing I can say about them is they did show up to pack and load on time. The delivery was two days late. The crew that came to deliver were rude and only interested in getting out as quickly as possible. NEVER USE EITHER ALLIED OR NORTH AMERICAN!

  13. Criminals! They lack any measure of integrity.

Allied Van Lines is just plain crooked. I signed on the dotted line for a "not to exceed" guaranteed price. When they delivered my belongings, they demanded nearly $2000 MORE, saying they would not release my possessions unless the total new amount was paid. Their contractors they source to do the move - a total joke. They loaded hand trucks so high that they couldn't see over them, repeatedly slammed into stacks they couldn't see to avoid, causing boxes to tumble and more items to break. Items that were wrapped at the time of pickup were unwrapped at the warehouse with severe damage ensuing, resulting in over $10000 worth of items ruined. Their so-called insurance? They cut me a check for just over $500. Total criminals.

  14. Utterly Insulting.

Worst experience of my family's life. Allied employees were disrespectful, careless, and did not care about our things.
We asked them to cover our staircase to avoid damage, and they refused, insisting that "they've done this before". The very first item they brought downstairs, they didn't tape the drawers shut, one flew open and fell over the banister, crashing on the floor below. Our staircase and that item were damaged.
They were completely disrespectful toward our home and privacy. They went into our kitchen and helped themselves to drinks, never asking for permission. They left our bathrooms a mess. It will take us days to clean up after them and have the house reasonably presentable for the new homeowners.
When we told the movers that a certain piece of furniture came apart to be transported, they ignored us and insisted they couldn't move the piece, telling us "we should have sold it". We had to literally show them how to do their jobs, dismantle the item, and do the work ourselves.
The truck came late and it took over 10 hours for them to do their job. They ignored our "FRAGILE" signs on our boxes and dumped them under heavy items. They banged into our walls and left dents.
I can't help but feel insulted by this whole experience. NEVER work with this company.

  15. The Move.

My review is with Allied Moving Co. My move was only 5 hours away. It was the worst experience of my life & in order for me to tell the whole story I would need 5 pages. So let me just tell anyone that is looking to use Allied to STOP!! Pick another Co!! Do not trust these people to your moving needs. My experience was 2 employees actually quitting on the job, the whole staff showing up at 11AM instead of the scheduled 8AM, 1 employee actually bringing their Pitbull dog to the job, 1 employee showing up high as a kite, a list of damaged furniture & a staff that looked like they haven’t showered in days.. i
My Co paid 12K for this move & my recommendation for this company is to PICK ANOTHER CO!! RUN!!
