  1. Do not use this company.

We used Allied to move my mothers furniture from North Carolina to New York. We had a piano shipped along with a bed. Her piano is her pride and joy, so naturally we got insurance on it for the move, and good thing we did! They dropped the piano and broke pieces off of it, this is not an inexpensive piece of furniture. They were late dropping it off because they tried to put pieces back together on it and ruined it even more. Since we had insurance on it we have been trying to work with them to get the claim settled and get this piano fixed, however they have NOT been responsive at all. It was their fault for the damages and now they do not want to be professional and help get this resolved. We also had a bed that was shipped, when the piano was delivered, only the bottom wheels of the bed were with it. They came back hours later with the frame and mattress, but no box spring. They said that it was left on the truck without any papers to go with it so they "guessed it was ours". Weeks later and we have still to find the box spring that my mother watched go on the truck, but never made it to our house. This is very upsetting to do business with such an unprofessional company. I am not sure how these people are still in business. My advise would be NEVER use Allied Van Lines again, I know I wont! .

  2. Move.

I chose Allied Movers since they are a well known company and I was a moving coordinator for an office move a few years back and we used Allied so I thought, this should be a good choice. I am very upset that my items from GA to CA were damaged and actually had missing pieces to furniture that were completely lost. I had 10 boxes that looked as if they were thrown around and had been smashed and partially opened. What is worse is that these items are personal and belonged to my mom who passed away in March. I am moving them to my house to make a guest room with her things just to honor her and her memory. I am currently working with the claims department and have had to keep emailing and calling to get results. The person handling my claim is very prompt in responding and I am hoping for everything to be repaired and my mom's antique pieces to be fully restored. I will keep you updated..

  3. Allied Van Lines.

Allied is a total sham. They use local moving companies to load and unload your shipment and have no "real" company - just some trucks. The cost was exhorbitant as well ! The movers were very unprofessional and careless. We had to wait several days to get scheduled to off-load our shipment Overall, I was very disappointed with the entire process. They disassembled everything to load it and then put nothing back together when they unloaded it ! The workers were courteous enough, but very unprofessional and careless. Boxes were not placed where indicated and we had damage. Somehow we even had water damage to certain items. I know we had a full truck, and they did what they had to, to get it all on, but you can't just cram stuff in upside down and sideways and not expect damage. I would not recommend Allied for a move, but I don't know who to recommend. It's just a nightmare ! Good Luck !!

  4. I would do it again.

I would use Victory/Allied again.  They moved my 5 bedroom house across the county with no damage.  they were on-time and on budget.  usually the only people that post reveiw are unhappy.  I am happy.  The driver was professional and his help was dressed in uniform.  they conducted a detailed inventory and made sure everything was accounted for.  if I had to make another move, I would chose Victory/Allied.

  5. Lost items.

This was our 3rd move with Allied, The first two were accoss country with allied from Texas and California and were great.  This was from the Allied in Greensboro,NC and I must say this was the first one that I have had problems with.  First I was suppose to have several items crated and that never happened.  They sent out packer who did not finish the jobon that day, but stopped packing to do a load furniture to the warehouse.  We stored for 2 months.  When they came back the next day it was suppose to be to load, but because they stopped the day before they were packing and loading the same day (4300sq ft home)  4 packers and a lead guy. Kind of hard to keep track of what is goint on.  They had me sign off on everything although there is no way to keep an eye on that many people and that many items, especially after 9 hours of packing. When they delivered the items two months later it was the same guys that packed me.  We  had over 250 boxes and it took over 8 hours to unpack the truck.  I was told ny the estimator, that they covered everything from damaged to missing items.  It was not until about two weeks later (and I call immediately) that I realized that I had a very expensive painting that was mirror packed, cd racks and a little giant ladder missing.  I was told that none of these item would be covered by the insurance, due to the fact that I sign the paper work at the end of a long day saying that all had been delivered. I was never informed that if I signed this and later found items missing or damaged that the insurance would be null and void.  If I have anything to warn you about is DON"T SIGN ANYTHING.  It is their out to cover anything at all.  .

  6. Never again!

We used this company to move our home from USA to Dubai, and got the worst service ever! Bad enough there are some boxes never made to here, when we claimed the insurance (that we paid extra for) , the insurance company send our money to the wrong person, and we never got our furniture fixed or paid for. If you respect yourself, do not ever get involved with these liars ! Aliya Ferris.

  7. Allied Moving.

Our move was in two phases with the bulk of our goods being put in storage for 4 months until our home was completed. Our first move to an apartment resulted in 4 broken items and we were compensated  by the CT local mover and assured that we need not worry about other items in storage because we had 9 months to file a claim. Well , I recently  filed a claim with Allied two weeks after being in our home and unpacking the majority of our goods and the national office in Indiana is singing a different song. We had noticed  upon delivery of our furniture that our king size brass headboard was broken, our gum ball machine was broken, our our cast iron patio umbrella stand seemed to be missing and that we had someone else's table legs. Upon unpacking our PBO boxes we discovered 2 broken platters, a wine glass and a compote dish. We were pleased that the breakage was so limited especially since moving companies have packed us in the pass we we sustained much more breakage. Allied is denying compensation for the broken dishware ($75.00) after the CT salesman stated that PBO items were covered by the total replacement insurance we stupidly purchased and will not pay for the lost umbrella stand because we did not note the missing item at the time of delivery. They didn't even offer to try to find it! If you have ever moved a 4 bedroom home and had 6 delivery people unloading,  you know there is no way to track every box and item! All of deck furniture was being placed on the patio so we thought we overlooked the stand And should check to be sure it wasn't somewhere else   Now we're being told that the compensation in March for broken dishes was  a " good faith" move and Allied never pays for damage to PBO items and it's our problem that we didn't note at the time of delivery of over 600 items/boxes that one was really missing.  I wonder what they told the people whose table legs we have?    .

  8. Excessive damage and no realistic remediation.

I highly recommend that no one, under any circumstances ever use their services. My wife and I recently moved cross-country with them at a cost to us of in excess of $6,000. During the shipping the movers damaged several items beyond repair. Amongst the most severely damaged were a number of antiques, including a wood framed mirror, an end table, and a sofa. They also caused damage to our bed frame, stereo speakers, and numerous pieces of art work. We are lucky the damage was not more extensive. From the conditions of the boxes it is abundantly clear that they took absolutely no care in handling our possessions. The moving company claims they have responsibility for no more than $252. This meager sum will not even cover the cost of the pieces of glass they broke, let alone any of the furniture or other items. Again, please do not ever entrust anything of value whether monetary or sentimental to the destructive actions of Allied Van Lines. .

  9. Allied - Worst Move Ever!

I contracted with Allied Movers to do a 3 bedroom move after just using them 1 and 1/2 years ago to move the exact same contents.  The contract was for a professional move at $5,200. It was a very standard move pickup my household goods in Seaside, California and deliver them to Austin, TX. We even went as far as to mark all boxes so that when unloading, the movers would visually know which boxes went in the house vs the storage shed. The pickup went perfect on a Monday, August 19th.  From there the move was a complete disaster that has convinced me to not only never use Allied again, but to also write this review. Ashley at the Carey, NC Allied office notified me that we would expect deliver on Wednesday, August 29. On Wednesday, August 21 I received a call from our driver, Tom, notifying me that he couldn't load our entire shipment on his truck and that he loaded what he thought would make us comfortable until the rest of the load was delivered. He said he had on record our load was for 7,000 lbs and he was only able to load 5,600 lbs. Tom said he notified Allied Corporate before he started loading to see if he should take a partial shipment and they told him yes.  Now he knew it was at least 7,000 and the weight was recorded at pickup at approx 8,100 lbs as confirmed by Ashley in the Carey NC Allied.  This whole process could have been turned around if either Allied Corporate or Tom called me before loading the truck to see what made sense to load so that we could tell Allied what would make us comfortable. We had it all marked after all! Plus we are the client and should have been notified immediately.  Well we were not notified! At the same time, our Sales Representative, Ashley, was not notified either. I called Ashley on Thursday and Friday to try and speak with her about this and she didn't call back until the Monday, August 26 and the she said she wasn't even aware that there was an overflow situation. She was going to work on getting us a date for overflow delivery. We heard back from her on the 28t with this date and had to ask what to do with respect to filing a claim for the serious inconvenience.  Tom was supposed to deliver our first shipment at 8am, Wednesday morning.  He was going to drive to our house the night before because I was seriously concerned about him fitting a full size moving truck to our house.  He said he had it covered and would see me in the morning. Tom called me the morning of the move and said he was at the house, however, he had the wrong address and was close to 45 minutes away from our home.  He got lost and was more than 3 hours late and I had to drive to pick him up at that point and drive him to our house so he could see the layout.  And did I mention that we had to pay $5,200 for this move and pay the amount in full before Tom could deliver half of our household goods! It turns out Tom was not able to fit his truck down our road.  So he had his two moving guys and himself wheel all of our stuff on two and four wheel dollies down a 1/4 mile road to our house manually. Suffice to say we didn't get the core items that we needed to make us comfortable.  We have four dogs who are crate trained and we didn't get the crates.  We didn't have any kind of kitchen table and chairs to eat on, we had no bed frame and felt like we were sleeping on the floor.  We also had none of our work clothes and bath towels. Tom delivered the washer and dryer, however, he didn't deliver the all important Parts Box that had the dryer components in it. So we had to use a laundromat for a full week and a half. We had not cleaning appliances like a broom, vacuum, etc. Allied Corporates's answer to this was a $350 total. I plan to file this letter for a more equitable settlement. From this day forward, I left at least 6 messages for Ashley from Carey NC Allied Movers and she never returned a single call and was always out of the office.  I wanted to make sure my  address was updated in their system for the overflow delivery. The overflow was set to be delivered by Ryan on Friday, September 6. When Ryan notified of the date on Memorial Day, I told him he would need a shuttle and that the address was wrong in the Allied System. To make sure he had the correct information I texted Ryan with the same information and with the exact address and layout of the house.  I also called Ryan the night before to confirm all of this a third time. It turns out the Allied System did not update the address and Ryan didn't read my text or listen to me during our conversations about the address.  He did hear about the shuttle so that was good. Ryan was only about an hour late. We finally have all of our household goods and are totally soured on and would NEVER use Allied Movers! Their communication is horrible, they don't put their customers first, and for what they charge, the sales agent should be a professional concierge from the beginning to the end of the move and every step along the way. This did not happen and this is why I had to share my story. .

  10. Pleasantly surprised.

After reading tons of really negative reviews, we were hesitant to use Allied. However, their quote was nearly $2,500 cheaper than the nearest major-name competitor and fit better into our budget so we took a chance.

Our local dealer was Olympian Moving and Storage. Debbie in the office was friendly, helpful and knowledgable. When moving day came our driver Dave and his loading crew Bill and Rob were early and professional. Our items were handled with care and packed securely.

Dave arrived right on time and the unload crew went above and beyond moving furniture, reassembling items and making sure all boxes and furniture were exactly where we needed them.

All in all, the move went great.

  11. A Nightmare.

We contracted Allied for our cross country move and here is why I they're rated "poor", in fact, I would give them less than 1 star if I could. - No one called to confirm the night before to let us know when the packing or the pick up would happen. - We were promised a 7-10 day delivery lead time and it turned into 16 days and the only reason I found out about it is because I called to find out where my belongings were. They overbooked and bumped us. - Several boxes arrived wet/smashed. - A few furniture pieces arrived with damages but the delivery driver told me "compressed wood items are not covered on the insurance". Convenient. - The guy who packed one of our floors had NO IDEA what he was doing, placing expensive speakers face down on the bottom of a box with little to no wrapping. One was damaged. - I was instructed to leave items in dresser drawers. One of the packers pulled all the items out of a flat file drawer (artwork and prints) and piled them up in a box with non-flat items rendering them unsellable.  - One rubber tote I packed on my own arrived full of moisture and caused my dried insect collection to get full of mold. All had to be thrown in the trash. Again, not something that can even have a claim placed on it due to the lack of monetary value.  Overall the experience with them has been a nightmare and I would not recommend them to anyone. We will see how far and long the process is for our delay claim which we are in process of filing. .

  12. Damages/delayed delivery.

After meeting wiht the SON of the owner of the subcontractor for Allied, my experience was AWFUL!  I never received a confirmation call for my delivery date from my "move coordinator".  They claimed it was because the summer months are their "busiest time of year".  I had to call said SON to get confirmation of pick up date, but not the time.  It wasn't until the driver picking up my goods called me directly that I knew what time to expect them.  My items were stickered, and inventoried but NOT described accuretly on the 13 pages of inventory.  I was assured that my "load" would NOT leave the trailer it was loaded onto, but that was NOT the case.  Everything was CRAMMED into their warehouse in Michigan waiting for a driver.   The initial promised delivery date was by June 22, 2013.  When I, yes I had to call again, called to confirm this date, I was told they did not know where my property was.  That the driver assigned to my "load" had truck problems, and that there would be a minnimum of 4 day delay.  I had NO idea when to expect my goods, as the "coordinator" NEVER called me.  It wasn't until the driver picking up my load called that I actually knew when to expect them.   The driver explained to me when he arrived that my property was CRAMMED into the warehouse in Michigan!  He knew I was going to have a lot of dammages due to the condition of my boxes and totes ~ yes they smashed TOTES!!   There were 10 missing boxes/totes, my lawn mower was destroyed, and several broken items inside the dammaged boxes.  Now, I ONLY claimed the broken lawn mower and money I had to pay out during the delayed delivery.  Because I didn't opt for additional whatever coverage they are only going to pay $36 for my mower.  The have also indicated that they will only reimburse $500 toward expenses encurred by the delivery delay.  (OH, and FOOD is not part of that reinbursment)  Seriously??  How was I to cook for my family without my kitchen ware??/Over all, I would NEVER recommend this company to anyone nor will I EVER use them again!! .

  13. TX to AZ - via Allied Van Lines.

The team arrived early and picked up my items within 5 hours. The price was competitive with the other major van lines; however, they were able to offer a faster turn-around time from pick-up to delivery.  Our items arrived without damage. Overall, a job well done.  .

  14. Honesty of Agent.

Problem was with honesty of agent concerning delivery of a car with our household goods in the same van. We believe the agent  misrepresented how the car would be transported and refused to communicate, hiding behind a biding contract.

  15. Allied Van Lines.

We chose Allied as they are a national brand, so felt more secure paying a higher price.  We were dissapointed for the following reasons: Pick-up: -movers dropped furniture down our new hardwood stairs causing significant damage (also backed a piece of furniture into a wall causing damage) -we specifically asked and were told the pick-up truck would be the same truck to drop-off.  Turns out this was a lie: our furniture was unloaded to a warehouse, then re-loaded.  Driver of that truck couldn't deliver, so furniture off-loaded again, then on-loaded to the truck that finally made the delivery.  Somewhere along the line, we had significant damage to ~30% (literally) of our furniture -movers were unable to fit all of our belongings onto the truck, so instead of waiting for a truck with full capacity to make the entire delivery, Allied shipped part of our furniture (pieces chosen at their discretion) and left part behind; therefore, we have 1/2 of a TV stand, for example.  Deliver date was 12/15. It is now 12/29 and we are still waiting for the rest of our furniture -customer service: at the local level, they have moved at a SNAIL's pace to get anything resolved.  I finally had to contact the corporate customers service, who was actually very helpful.   I never write reviews (first one, actually, as I have a high tolerance for bad service) but I felt a responsibility to post this with hopes of preventing someone from incurring the same problems we ran into.  Granted, every experience is different, even within the same company.  I will never use Allied again, though, after this experience. .
