  1. Fear mongers that are extremely rude.

After speaking with Justin at american home movers he presisted to start being a complete jerk. they do not understand no they just try to scare you into using them and direct you to a non secure redirecting url. As marketing professional I can tell you most scams start with a url like this.

    here is an expamle:

HI, this is Justin with American Home Moving, we just had a cancellation come through and it's alot cheaper than trucks at current rates. If you'd like to take advantage of it and save the money by making the reservation, please call me here 561-300-0266

    me:

I have a reservation for 2200 pick up on the 28th-29th of September and delivery between the 6-10th. I would only be interested if it was cheaper than that.

    Justin:

that's called a low quote scam, sorry. call us during the move or just before when they start upcharging you. your cubic feet cannot be move for that low. wish you the best. . but that's called a low quote scam. should look them up. call me when they upcharge. our fraud team can help get your money back and we will move you at correct price, which at that point will be a last minute reservation and more. but probably less than they will try and get you for at the end.

  2. Avoid this company

Bunch of my valuables we either damaged or broken they doubled the price than what we originally agreed upon and during the pick up they suddenly added extra fees and during delivery I had more fees added for every seven steps up the stairs when the contract said per flight and I come to find out by bed frame is missing my wooden rails the foot board is missing and damaged a leg the dropped my dresser on the stairs they tore everything apart and did not do what they promised and put it all back together on delivery the also damaged broke the pegs my sectional attachments that hold my sectional together I would have never booked these guys but a broker acted like they were an actual mover booked these guys so do your self a favor don't book with these clowns(U. S. Standard van lines American home movers the packers and American home movers shippers) pay some your money and pay more and get a real professional company to move you that handles all 3 phases of the move don't do what I did to move across country with these 3 clowns

  3. Horrible!!!

This company should be shut down. Charge twice the price and then fail at delivery. This place is a scam Horrible and take advantage of people. Not sure how they actually got a business license but it needs to be pulled! If there was a 0 they would get it

  4. Worst experience ever

Everything with this experience was awful. The movers were hungover, a lot of my possessions did not arrive, and the ones that did were damaged or broken. Will be filing a complaint to BBB and submitting a claim. The most

unprofessional company and the worst service.

  5. These people are thieves

They stole $30,000 worth of art etc from me. Did not care or compensate me. The things they stole were gifts from my deceased husband that cannot be replaced. Please protect yourself and use any other company. Disposable humans

  6. Appalling.

I am writing this review from my floor since I don't have a couch -

My belongings were picked up April 25th in Las Vegas. I was told they'd be delivered to me within 7 to 21 business days. It is June 19th and I haven't had as much as a phone call of reassurance or an apology for the EXTREME delay, despite my reaching out.. MULTIPLE times.

The staff was very keen to rush my pick up and have papers signed and deposits paid immediately (calling me, nagging me every 30 minutes) but have yet to respond to an email that I sent to them weeks ago now.

At this point I am just praying that my things haven't been stolen or damaged.
My furniture is valuable and my life is in those boxes.

I have done plenty of moving across the country - the world for that matter and this is by far my worst experience. Take your moving needs elsewhere. 1 star is overrating by far.

  7. Property Move Damage.

Would give them less than 1 star if possible. Horrible experience. We had them move furniture & personal property from LA to Nashville. Upon arrival, there were 14+ items worth over $ 2,000 permanently damaged. We even have a video of one of their movers literally kicking boxes off the moving truck and laughing about it. We filed a damages claim with the THEIR claim agent who offered us an insulting $ 150. We then filed a small claims court action against them and the judge granted us only the $ 150 due to the fine print ( $.60/pound maximum liability - we had no choice as they told us full replacement insurance coverage was not available) in the contract even though he acknowledged that the damage was credible and AHM was responsible. They are dishonest and fortunate to have had the small claims hearing before an incompetent judge.

  8. Added almost $2,000 to my quote upon pickup.

If I could give this company negative stars I would. After spending over 3 hours on the phone with a Senior Relocation Specialist confirming my box count and inventory, I was confident in the $5,400 quote that I received to move our two bedroom house from Nashville, TN to Denver, CO. You can imagine my reaction when the driver shows up on our moving day and tells me that my estimate will need to be increased by $2,000!! My husband and I felt like this company had us over a barrel and we were left with no choice but to come up with the extra money. And if that isn't stressful enough we had to chase this company for copies of our inventory paperwork and to schedule our delivery date. I was starting to wonder if our belongings had ever made it to the storage facility in Las Vegas at all. Many frustrated phone calls and different managers later we received our belongings which consisted of crushed boxes and damaged furniture. Even with everything "professionally wrapped" in blankets we submitted 9 claims for damage. With the appalling customer service that we have received throughout this entire process I doubt anything will come of our claims, but the least I can do as a public service is warn others by sharing our experience.

  9. American home movers are thieves.

They stole $30,000 worth of my stuff. Mostly gifts from my deceased husband. They offered me $189.00 in settlement. If you want all your things flat out stolen go with them. They picked up my belongings and flat out stole them.

  10. They Just Don't Care.

    **THEY SIMPLY DON'T CARE**
I used AHM based on their Yelp reviews and should have read the 1 star reviews more closely. All the 5* reviews were from 2013 and earlier.

Things this company does really well..

    Not Wrapping Glass:
    - I specifically asked for artwork and pictures to be wrapped and some boxed on their own. All of my photographs were stuffed into one box with no wrapping. When they arrived all the glass had shattered and pictures torn by the cut glass.

    Fudging the Truth:
That verbal quote of 5-10 business days from pick-up to delivery became 3-21 business days, once we signed the contract.

    Taking no accountability:
It took two weeks to get my items out of Vegas an on a van and that is only because I called everyday and they got sick of hearing from me. Even when I referenced the contract they wouldn't respond and just didn't care.

Poor Planning on their Part Constituted an Emergency on My Part:
I was then given a 3-day window when the delivery was going to happen and told I would get 48 hours notice. I got 18 hours notice and when I explained that my apartment could not accommodate the move at this time due to another move, they called the apartment management directly and badgered them until they gave in.

It is not even worth my while to get them to pay damages on what was broken.

Apparently, this group, doesn't feel compelled to Make America Great, Again.

  11. American Home Losers.

Based on my experience I will not recommend American Home Movers or their services to anyone.

    - Very unprofessional
    - Items missing/stolen
    - Extortion

    Short Story

This company was continually late, overcharged us, lost our items, and then offered us a pittance in remuneration in exchange for what equated to a gag order in the form of a liability waiver, clearing them of any wrongdoing and forbidding us from writing about our experience anywhere or reporting them to any government/regulatory agency.

    Long Story

I contracted the company to move us from CA to NC in May of 2017 for an August move. While setting appointments and arranging the move, they were very attentive and communicated regularly. This all stopped on the day they were scheduled to arrive.

American Home Movers had not arrived at the scheduled pickup time between 8am to 10am, despite us confirming days before. Dispatch had no idea where the movers were when we called to ask about it. The dispatcher said she would call the drivers to find out their location. We had to call after an hour of waiting with no update. The dispatcher acted as if we never spoke and said the movers would arrive between 5pm and 7pm. Thanks for letting us know. The movers showed up at noon.

The price was increased by $115.88 on the spot for no definitive reason. We had even removed items we deemed unnecessary prior to the deadline. We had fewer items/cubic feet than the minimum price point, so we were prepared to pay their minimum. However, after having already paid our initial deposit, it being the day of the move, and we scheduled to depart the following morning, what could we do but cough up the dough?

We packed everything ourselves and had it all waiting by the front door for a quick and easy job. The movers loaded our items on the truck in under 30 minutes. We were prepared to meet our items two days after our arrival in NC, but that would not be the case.

A dispatcher called us as we were driving across the country to say they wanted to drop off the items on a day earlier than that which was scheduled, because it was more convenient for them. Give me a break. Otherwise, we would have had to wait to receive our goods a month later when another driver could make the trip out to NC. I guess you’ve got me by the short and curlies. just come on over whenever.

The driver showed up a two days after the original drop-off time. After all was unloaded we noticed many of the cardboard boxes had arrived significantly beaten up. Many crumpled as if stored under heavy weight and others with large holes/tears in the sides and/or corners.

Two items in particular went missing, a pair of computer monitors used in my home workstation. These had been packed in their original box and labeled, but did not arrive with all our other items. Kind of suspicious, right? Come to find out they were on the inventory sheet that left the warehouse, which can only mean they went missing between NV and NC.

When I brought this up with the company they said these things happen and that it’s possible the box was dropped off at another person’s house, as each truck carries multiple deliveries. What? So, call the people you delivered to, to ask if you left someone else’s property with them! Sorry, we need to wait until the truck is done with deliveries to make sure it’s not still in another client’s load.

We had to initiate contact every time to receive an update and we were told every time that they had nothing new to report. Each time we called, the lady we spoke with promised she would call us with an update. That never happened. Each time we called back, she told us that she needed to speak with the warehouse manager and that she would get back to us. She never once called back. Fast forward a month later and no monitors, no word on whether or not they were dropped off elsewhere, or simply fell off the truck.

The next exchange eventually rolls around to don’t pack your valuables. I have to ask, isn’t anything I choose to take with me across the country of value to me? What’s the difference if it’s worth $10 or $1000? You present yourselves as some kind of professional moving service.

The ordeal ends with someone on the phone saying look, we’ll give you $150 “On good faith”, which is better than the $0.60 per square foot you are entitled to, but you can’t say anything about this to anyone, not the BBB, not Yelp, not anywhere in print or online. Fat chance.

It’s this company’s sole job to get everything you pay for from point A to point B, anything they lose as a result of negligence, theft, or sheer incompetence should be replaced at their expense. You might want to reconsider calling yourselves American Home Movers if you’re not cut out for the job.

Bottom line, forget American Home Losers and go with a real service.

  12. Beware.

Please do not think this moving company is worth it! This was truly the worst experience in our lives. It took two weeks before the truck even left Nevada, I had to call and inquire why our furniture was not here on the requested date that's when they said it was still there waiting for another customer to fill there truck up. I was charged $600 more than I was quoted once they arrived for our moving day, they know its to late for you to hire another company by then. When they finally said they were in route, they told us they made another stop and would be delayed a few more days. I had to call numerous times speaking with the most unprofessional secretary (Brittany) over and over again until I requested a Manager which she said was out of town for 3 weeks, I then requested to speak with Corporate. She put someone on the phone that was suppose to be the owner. Long story short it took 30 days for us to get our furniture when we were promised it in two weeks and a extra $600! BEWARE.

  13. Just Say NO.

Worst moving experience of my life. There was very poor communication from the team. Four emails and two phone calls and still no response until I said I was filing with the FMCSA. Then the owner suddenly showed interest. After being promised a 14 day delivery or less, my items did not even leave your facility for 14 days and then stopped in TX to reload again. That is nothing but greed. You need to understand there are human beings on the other side of your transactions, whose lives are put on hold and are inconvenienced. Zero care or concern.

  14. Promises Unfulfilled.

Very unpleasant experience. Sales team promises the world!! I was assured that my furniture will be reassembled on arrival. Had told them clearly that its already dis-assembled and packed and available in garage. They have to pick it up from garage and deliver to San Antonio where it has to be re-assembled.  On arrival (after 13 days as against a promised approx 3-7 days), driver simply refused to touch any furniture stating that it was not assembled by his company and so wont assemble it. On talking to despatch they said the same thing and then as suspected no one agreed that it was promised to get furniture assembled. I had to spend USD 200 for my furniture assembly from another agency..    WONT RECOMMEND ANY ONE TO GOE FOR THEM.. STAY AWAY  .

  15. Stay away! Wrong prices and stealing.

We looked at a lot of Movers and ended up using this one for our cross country move. Boy did we go wrong. It started out fine and it felt like a good choice. Got a quote, was promised that the price was locked and wouldn't change and then bam - pick up day came and all of a sudden they wanted 500$ more. which baffled us since we had a detailed inventory and actually ended up getting rid of big items so if anything it should have been cheaper. Anyways, the dude couldn't even explain why it was more and kept playing around and trying to sell me some bull poop reason And pressuring you into signing a new paper Or your things wouldn't leave. Once you sign you are screwed since they going to use that to enforce the higher price. the crew leaves and next thing you know is one guy trying to buy your old paint buckets and the next guy steals your old laptop.  Drop off was a disaster too. I've been in contact with a guy named Joseph and he claimed to be able to help us with the whole 500$ price difference. Well emails been send, phohe calls been made and we were assured it was handled and the original price was the right one. Then the guys show up with the truck and you can see your things yet can't get them cause apparently the Joseph dude isn't worth a penny in the company and they insist on getting the last 500$ before they unload. when we finally got our things unloaded one guy kept staring and making inapropate comments to a friend of mine making her feel uncomfortable While the other tries to sell you some bullcrap cruise but doesn't want you to tell his boss cause he's doing it without his knowing. We ended up with damage and broken items and a price that was higher than the supposedly locked quote.  Do your research and find yourself a good company so you can safe yourself the headache, money  and trouble you'll have with this one! .
