  1. They Were Good to Me.

My moving consultant, Alan, was great! He came to my home and took an inventory I had to move and gave a reasonable quote for a flat fee that included, drive time, all materials, 6 men, 2 trucks, and packing of my TVs and framed pictures which included a listing of all of the things they would move. I liked the professionalism and knowing that there wouldn't be any surprises on moving day. A couple of times I had to add a few items to the list but, the price was never increased. I was frantic the night before moving day. Even though I stayed up all night to pack, I was still behind in some of the packing. They started moving right away and let me continue packing as they moved. It was a big job, and they were courteous and very professional.
Nothing was damaged or lost. My whole family and I were very impressed with this company.

  2. Price as a quoted.

We have been using this moving company around 4 times already and never had any issues with them. Not only the price was as quoted also the delivery time was made in timely manner. The crew showed up 30 min In advance and carefully packed all our belongings. Thanks guys for been so professional and reliable. Would highly recommend.

  3. Worst mistake ever.. ROBBED AND LEFT WITH NOTHING TO DO!

I will start with I WISH I LOOKED AT THE REVIEWS ONLINE!! Warning… I GOT SCAMMED!

I was advised by my sister, to try using a moving company my brother-in-law worked for; Shleppers Moving and Storage. I agreed to use them, and two weeks in advance, set a date of November 28th, 2016, when their rep came by my house and quoted me $400 for the move. I told him that was low, seeing it was always around $1000 to move my things, when I did it myself. I was excited to not only save money, but not have to move the items. He reassured me everything was fine and the quote was solid. He agreed on the 28th, and told me they would get me a time. I called to get that time, but never got a response back (trusting this was family and everything was going to follow through). I finally received a call, morning of the 28th, that they were out front! Regardless, I was eager to move, and went ahead with buzzing them up.

In walked three movers, none of which were my brother in-law. It turns out he was called onto another move. I let these three strangers into my home, which was one of the WORST mistake I have ever made. During the corse of my move they took twice the time they said. I had friends tell me they saw them by their truck, not doing anything. They finally got my things down to the truck, and we went to my new home.

There, I found that my stereo had been broken. That was after they smashed a lamp into the ground. It was not until later that I found the goose down, feather, couch that I got from Restoration Hardware was damaged, and one of my finer rings had been stolen! I was too busy dealing after the move, with the fact they asked me for $1000 for their service, and that’s outside of the materials they tried to charge me for; boxes they took back, tape they used, and plastic I had provided, but they used their own. Yup, $1000 for a job that I was quoted $400. I told them I would give them $700. They got their boss Jesse Heeber on the phone, and after a lot of arguing, he agreed to $700. I paid in cash, and they left. I received no quote, no paperwork, and no Bill of Landing.

I called Shleppers Moving and Storage, here in LA, and spoke with Jesse. Over the course of a month, he reassured me he was going to handle this. He kept telling me to call him back, and then would not answer. Then, he stopped answering my calls and texts. I tried calling the office in New York. They got me on the phone with Rob. He told me he was going to handle the situation. I never heard back from him.

Now, after looking over the internet, I have found that this is common practice for this company. I have found rampant complaints of over charging, surging, stealing, and more. It’s terrifying!! Who knows what else they took I have not discovered yet. Worst is, I didn't look at reviews myself! I hired them. Now I see why reviews matter.

Now, I am trying to file a claim with my own insurance, but they need a Bill of Landing. They need paperwork. Something this company knew I would need. I am out of options, and left screwed over like everyone in all the reviews I’ve read since this happened. Including an interesting one, by a former employee, who states that this kind of stuff is encouraged! How does a scam and set-up, like this thieving company, keep getting away with this?

  4. Do not use this company! Or good luck getting your money back.

Worst moving company ever!! In July these people over charged me hundreds of dollars. I have been in a claim dispute with them for three months and I moving towards a lawsuit. They took chunks out of my walls. Took hours to google how to take apart my piano, and never was able to move it. They charged me three hours of time to google how to move my piano and never moved it. The foreman was high and fought with me. My credit card was charged twice weeks after the move. All around a huge problem. Please save your heartache and go somewhere else. I ended up having to pay another $800 to have my piano moved by a different company, Camelot Moving. They end up being amazing. They laughed at the problems the guys at Shelppers said they had. It only took these guys 50 mins to move my piano into the truck.

  5. Horrible delivery, horrible experience.

On 6/17/16 Shleppers movers arrived at my residence at 2101 E 21st St, Unit 202, Signal Hill, CA. They picked up my goods and departed. After they departed it was discovered they had stolen a bulletproof vest from my residence worth $1,200. There is a police report filed with Signal Hill Police. The delivery date to my new residence at 700 Spring Garden Drive, Bedford, TX, was listed “as soon as possible”. The delivery window for the move was 7-21 business days. The timeframe for delivery was June 28th to July 18th. The company stated they ship to Texas twice a week. Shleppers delivered most of our goods on June 30th. However, it was discovered 2 pallets of goods were not on the truck and was not delivered. Additionally much of the furniture was damaged to some degree and my motorcycle was also damaged. A call to the supervisor Jesse Heeber was placed on July 1 and he said he did not know where the remaining items were and would find them. That took a week and a half. I called on July 13th and Jesse said they were found and would ship out on the next truck. That date for shipment was supposed to be July 15th. Shleppers have been hard to reach, Jesse does not answer his phone reliably, and no one at the company will give me a firm date for delivery. Jesse kept citing the shipment would arrive the following week. I have called multiple times each week but I have not received my goods.

  6. DO NOT use them for long distance moves.

I arranged my move from LA to Texas through Erica at the end of June. She seemed professional, organized, and answered all my questions. The guys who were scheduled to pick up my stuff showed up pretty much on time, and they were also professional, friendly, and clearly knew what they were doing. They took my stuff on June 29, 2016, and I haven't seen or heard anything about it since. I've called several times now, and spoken to Jesse in dispatch who never seems to know when my belongings will even be put on a truck let alone arrive at their destination.
Jesse has never returned a phone call, and every time I call him, he doesn't have access to his computer or any shipping information. What kind of dispatch person doesn't know where things are? In the meantime, I'm living out of a suitcase.
These guys might be great for in-city moves, but DO NOT use them for long distance. I've been waiting for a month, and still have no idea where my things are or when they will show up, if ever.
This was supposed to be the straight forward part of my relocation, instead, it's the nightmare that is holding up every other step in the process.
I will NEVER use Schleppers again and will most definitely recommend against anyone else using them, especially for a long distance move.

  7. Worst Customer Service @ Los Angeles, CA. Office.

Worst Customer Service I have ever received. This company is a joke, Can't even live up to their word that was giving.
Moving from CA. to TX. was looking for a smooth move without any hangups.

I called and spoke with Erica Sanchez and explained to her what needed. She was very helpful and had told me that if I have my stuff picked up on June 22nd, I could get a July 1st delivery date. So I said, ok, let's do it.

Movers showed up on the 22nd, loaded my stuff, they were really nice, professional. They had me go over all the paperwork to make sure everything was signed so there wouldn't be any hangups on the move. Ok great, good to go.

June 30, Thursday I call Jesse Heeber, apparently he is the Ops Mgr. I ask him for a time when my stuff would be delivered on July 1st. He told me that my stuff is still in CA, that I was missing a form so he couldn't send my stuff. I asked him why he didn't call me to inform me about this form, He has had my stuff for 3 weeks, why no call. He told me that he knew a couple days ago that my forms weren't sign and that he would eventually of called me. Wow was I pissed. Unbelievable the incompetency of this supposed MGR. So he mailed me the form I needed to sign, I had to run all over Austin and try to find a computer/printer to get this formed printed, signed and sent back to him.

July 1st, I get the form back to him and am told that he is not sure when he can get my stuff sent out. I call customer service and speak to Nicole, who takes down my information and tells me that I will be hearing from a Mgr by Tuesday afternoon. I call back and speak with Joseph, who is apparently the Mgr in customer service, he tells me that he will personally have a mgr call me on Tuesday, since Monday is a holiday.

Tuesday comes and still no answer on my stuff being moved or a phone call from a MGR. Every time I call Jesse, He just brushes me off and gives me the run around and trying to blame me for not signing all the forms. So now it has been almost 5 weeks since this company has had my stuff and I have finally gotten some resolve from Jesse, Saying the earliest he can get my stuff on a truck is Saturday morning, July 9th.

So because this guy, JESSE HEEBER, dropped the ball and let my paperwork go without any attention to it, this company did not deliver on it's statement of having my stuff delivered on July 1st. This also caused me additional financial hardship because not having any of my stuff, I had to go out and buy all new stuff for the time being. I also have to return to week Sunday, July 10th, and I have to buy new work uniforms, work boots & work tools because this company has my stuff. So I ask JESSE HEEBER, to show me some compassion and help me out with some kind of reimbursement, you know take $250.00 of my balance since I had to buy new stuff for the house and new work stuff. He tells me that it's not his fault and he shouldn't have to reimburse me, I should of taken my work stuff with me. WOW!! As an Operations MGR. unbelievable how he has treated me.

$1568.00 to move from CA to TX
$250.00 to buy work clothes, tools, boots
$250.00 to buy appliances and house accessories
Total: $2000.00+ for a stressful and unwarranted experience

Every time I call and ask to speak to a MGR or Supervisor, I just get the run around and brush off or they tell me to go through JESSE HEEBER. Which is obviously not working. No one at this company wants to help me resolve my issue, everyone wants to pass the buck and the buck ultimately stops at JESSE HEEBER's desk and won't be escalated any further.

JESSE HEEBER is a poor excuse for an OPS MGR, he doesn't care about the customer, he won't accept his mistakes and he tries to put everything back on the customer.

I was originally going to get a U HAUL truck and move everything myself but after speaking with Erica, I trusted and had faith that Shlepper's would do an honest job. BOY, was I wrong.

I will never recommend this company, this company is the worst when it comes to customer service. This company is a joke, I would stay far away from this company.

  8. Civic van lines.

Bunch of low life scum bags!! "Chicken hawks"!! They prey on ppl and your money! On your items!! On your health & sanity!! Had to get the cops involved! They stole my stuff held it hostage for weeks! ! Then try to rip me off by changing the balance! Very belligerent and Rude cursing me out saying if I want my stuff I'll have to apologize to him This company is just RIDICULOUS!! They will be out of business I gurauntee it. Plze ppl be aware!! Dnt become their victims.

  9. Huge Mistake!! do Not Use Civic Van Lines!

DONT MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE I DID!! If you are moving long-distance, DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. I get the impression, from reading about other people's experiences, that civic does a fairly decent job with local moves, it's the long distance moves where I see everyone is getting screwed. If I can save even just one person from the absolute HELL I went through, then writing this review was completely worth it. I moved across the country, from west to east coast, and I was attracted to civic van lines because the "quote" they gave us was so affordable. Complete bait and switch. They gave us a low quote over the phone, and once every single one of our belongings was boxed up in the moving van, DOUBLED the price. Not to mention, the movers were 3 hours late, took over 7 hours to pack up our 2 bedroom apartment, left stuff in cupboards and on shelves, and broke/damaged BOTH items, and the interior of my former apartment. If that wasn't bad enough, our stuff arrived almost 2 MONTHS late, and every time we called to find out what was going on, we got the run-around. No one was ever helpful or honest, more like rude and unprofessional. I honestly believed we were never going to see our belongings again, and after living over a month in our new apartment with NOTHING, I started buying new stuff. We have a young child, it's not like we could just go without certain things. Finally our stuff arrived, and the movers who dropped our stuff off (who really had nothing to do with civic whatsoever) were the only redeeming part of this whole process. And I would like to add, that I would have probably been upset that I had started buying all new things, except for the fact that when we began unpacking, most of our stuff was either broken or missing. We've accounted for entire boxes of things that just never even showed up. Honestly, it was the most stressful, hellish move I've ever been through. The kicker is it probably would've been cheaper, after the doubled quote/damaged property, to have not moved anything at all, and just have bought all new stuff when we arrived east. The level of unprofessionalism is unbelievable. This company is a bunch of SCAM ARTISTS and CRIMINALS. DO NOT USE THEM IF YOU MOVE LONG DISTANCE, you may never see your belongings again!

  10. I should have believed the bad reviews!

We went with Civic because theor quote was lower than Mayflower, but in the end hey were almost $1000 more! Of course they didn't tell us until they had it on the truck, and didn't help me when I called to question the costs. When we asked them about the negative reviews, they said it was just a few isolated incidents. They wrapped up foam blocks like they were china (and charged us for it)  but left an antique chest unprotected, which was damaged. so many items were broken and damaged I can't even list them all. I have photos of boxes clearly marked FRAGILE crushed underneath 7 other boxes! They stained the carpet, left some items taped up in the sun which ruined them, and stuck us with someone else's table. They made me talk directly to the driver for the delivery date, and when it was delayed by by a day, they took no responsibility and said I misheard, so I was left scrambling to get someone there on a workday or they were going to charge us! The difference in customer service from planning to in transit to delivery was shucking and disturbing. We still very much regret to this day not going with Mayflower!

  11. My moving service.

we moved from Fresno CA to phoenix AZ we find this company on movers.com from began company rep was very helpful with helping us organize this move. we did move 3 time in the past and I can't remember pleasant time on the move day .it really was different with this guys they came on time as soon as they start pack our things I was fill that we choose professional movers who care about our staff. Same thing when they deliver they unwrap and help us to the end with organize our new place (they even took trash of cardboard that left from our furniture) .I really like to thank you civic van lines and is movers for helping us with this move .

  12. Rip off Report.

Aside from extremely poor service dishonesty and being a thief is the trade of Valerie and Civic Van Lines do not get swindled by these salesman and their employees. They promise one thing and do not get results in getting the move complete. Employees complain over owners and management illegal practices and honestly it got to the point of me having to tell them its not my business and if employees are not happy they should go to the Labor Enforcement Board to complain I just wanted my move to be smooth and transitional instead I get ripped off. NEVER USE THIS COMPANY!

  13. Deceitful moving company.

I hired Civic to move from CA to UT. In my opinion, this company should be banned from doing business anywhere. The price quote at first was good, starting @ about $950, then the price kept going up. On the day the packers actually showed up (they came a day late), the cost went up to about $1800, & I was told that if I didn't agree, they would leave my stuff. The problem was that I had to be out of my place that same day & Civic knew that, so I didn't have a option. When the moving van finally arrived in UT (they were again late) the cost went up once more to about $2300 (which was higher than any other quote from other movers). There was all kinds of damage to my property, including the top of my TV entertainment center completely smashed in & a shelf missing. The left support leg of my computer stand, along w/ the whole upper back section is broken & not useable. The computer printer ruined & they used my clothes to use for packing, so ink went all over my clothes, even though they CHARGED me for boxes & packing material. They bent my folding table  & camera tri-pod  stand (not repairable) & a whole bunch of stuff is missing.  So be aware if you're going to move, stay away from Civic Vanlines!  If you've used Civic & experienced a similar bad experience, join me in filing a complaint w/ the CA state Attorney General's Office, so they can conduct a formal investigation into their deceitful practices.

  14. Only good things.

This is my first time moving in the state, and I had a hard time to find someone reliable. My friend recommended Civiv Van Lines and now Im really happy.Im a very punctuate person so I was very happy that they came on time.It did take us a long time as I moved more then 50 miles but Im very happy with their service.Fast and efficient that is the way I like it.

  15. Very good serivce.

I had to move my office locally. The crew was really helpful that they came early and worked quickly.Overall it was a very good experience and if I will need them in the future I would use them again.
