  1. Bait and switch

Do NOT use this company!!! Complete bait and switch on prices quoted. Rude, and dishonest. Was going to cancel this company because of the bad reviews. When I explained why they assured me there would be NO bait and switch. But then they padded the cubic square feet. Showed up late to load and it was after hours on a Friday so there was no one to call. Would not work with me. Told me to come pick up my belongings in a different State. Asked to put 60% down of total move at time of pickup. Was quoted 50% on estimate. Would not budge with the different quotes. Spoke with “Ben” and he states he is the top guy and he makes all of the decisions. And he was rude and unwilling to discuss how the space more than doubled when I went over inventory in detail. Magically it increased 100%!

and there is no discussion on possible errors. Just pay your money or we unload your belongings in another State where you can come get them!! Again DIN NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!

  2. DO NOT USE

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. I have had nothing but trouble from this company through the entire moving process. First they said they could pick up between Thurs 6/25 and Tues 6/29. Thats a five day window. But they kept calling and pushing back and finally picked up Thurs 7/1. Then the truck showed up and didnt have room for all my belongings. They only took half of what I was quoted and paid for!! I was told me belongings would be delivered within 10 days. It took 13. When my belongings were delivered... my $1800 flat screen was shattered. I paid the deposit and half up front with credit card and then when they arrived to deliver, they didnt accept credit card for final half payment and I had to run to bank and get cash out. This company is unbelievable, unprofessional and a total rip off.

  3. THIEFS and Liars.

THEY DO NOT HAVE A LICENSE TO OPERATE. THE U.S. DEPT. OF TRANSPORTATION TOLD ME THEY ARE ILLEGAL TO OPERATE. RUN. RUN VERY FAST. THEY OWE US 32,000.00. THE BBB TELLS PEOPLE TO RUN FROM THEM. THEY ARE UNCREDITED .RUN RUN AWAY.

  4. Horrible

    Not professional or on time.

I was given a two day window for them to start the pick up of my house. This was a guaranteed pick up, as that is what the company told me. They did not pick up on those dates, I missed two days of work waiting on them to call me back. Not only were they late for the pick up, I was sexually harassed by one of their employees. While ALL the other employees were in another part of the house, he came into the room I was in alone, BTW everything that needed to be moved at this point needed at least two people, with his hand down him pants advancing towards me making sexual comments and making me terrified, this company didn't do anything and told me that he needed to finish the job because they couldn't ask him to leave. Me at this point was so terrified that I didn't know what to do except have my teenage son stay with me the rest of the time they were there.

They then said that it was going to cost triple the amount I was quoted even after going through all inventory with them before they arrived.

After they were done, I was told that my items would be on a truck for transport no later than that Wednesday, this was also not true as they didn't put it on a truck for transport for over a week.

My items were not delivered until today, most of my boxes were damaged or opened.

The driver said oh well I can not get in your driveway and that is going to cost extra. they also only had a three man crew, two of which were minors, I know this because I asked them how old they were and where they go to school in the fall.

My own children helped unload the truck to give these kids a break while the driver sat in his truck trying to get me to pay even more.

I was told when I booked the move that they would dismantle everything and then reassemble when it arrived. NOTHING was reassembled.

When I tried to call the main office I get nothing but an answering service now and my emails and voice mails go completely unanswered. I guess it's time to get a LAWYER. Maybe then someone will respond to emails and calls..

  5. TERRIBLE

Cross country movers is really lacking in customer service and accuracy. I had a phone quote with everything on my inventory. At the end I had to remove items due to high cost after initial bid. Our end number was twice the initial cost. You don’t have much of a choice since they are in your home wrapping up furniture. When you get the final number you’ve sold your home and you need to vacate, and you, again, have NO choice, you’ve paid a deposit and at this point NOT refundable.

    Very unhappy with this company.

Under quoting and customer care was horrendous at a colossal cost. They pretend to care until you are at their mercy. Every time I contacted them it was all about the 21 days and “it’s in your contract” plus “ it will be a few more days.” They were actually 3 days short of the contracted 21 days when EVERy time I spoke to anyone, before the move it was 7-10 days for delivery. Dates for delivery were promised by driver after “speaking to the owner” and NOT met. Regardless of what ANY employee says, don’t trust ANYTHING they say. Everything they promise is pie in the sky. I placed many, many phone calls. I was promised call backs, it didn’t happen. The no care attitude when you finally spoke to anyone was surprising and unbelievably rude.

Now, to address the damage to my furniture. A cedar hope chest that I was going to will to my granddaughter is completely ruined, no way to get it repaired. Brand new kitchen wood table broken in corner, family room end table scratched. Wood filing cabinet scratched, both bedroom end tables scratched and broken. Oh, and a missing very expensive fabric dinning chair. Then there is my husbands Vespa .

I’ll be using every resource I can to report this unscrupulous company. I’m also contacting the Better Business Bureau in their state of California. The federal trade commission as well.

I’ve never been so dejected with a company as I am with this one.

  6. FRAUDULENT COMPANY

Cross Country Location is a fraudulent company. I am a senior citizen and was given a price after I provided all info, number of boxes and specific dimensions. The day of pickup, they wanted $1000 more! They tried to rip off! They left us hanging! Bad company and ethics. Also the guy’s mask was falling off when inside my house during COVID times. Stay away!

  7. Scam

Price more than doubled when our stuff was loaded from their original quote. Extortion, know they have you when your whole house is loaded in their truck! Damaged property, no customer service phone numbers, and they want cash. Dont use this company you'll be sorry.

  8. Move furniture from CA to Wa

Cross Country Relocation quoted us $2116 for moving 702 cu ft of furniture from CA to WA, we paid $516 deposit and $800 cash on moving day, they loaded furniture, drove off, and called and said load was 1255 cu ft & cost was now $3998, insisted on additional $1400 immediately, or they would leave our furniture in the rain and we could come pick it up, they were extremely rude and hung up on us 4 times. Plus we had to pay the balance in cash before they unloaded. I measured our load when the truck arrived and it measured 712 cu ft, not 1255 cu ft. Do not use Cross Country Relocation.

  9. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY

Total bait and switch broker. Peter built confidence and trust and then disappeared when things went wrong. We were quoted around $6,000 for our move, once all our items were on the rented budget truck, they told us it was more than expected and the total was $13,200. We did end up getting our things, which I am thankful for, but the company that delivered our items (different than Cross Country Relocation) said the movers did a terrible job moving our stuff and they would never work with them again. I'm ashamed I missed the reviews here and fell for it. Do not use this company.

  10. Bait and switch broker

Bait and Switch moving broker. I wish I would have done more homework with this company, they're horrible. I told them I had a completely full 27x9x9 storage unit and Peter quoted me around $11K for a cross country move. I signed their quote, gave a deposit and they came to pick up my items. During the transfer "Tomer" said he would have a final price after they inventoried everything. I told him I had a price and they new the exact dimensions of the storage unit so the price should be accurate already. After loading all of our items into the truck and DRIVING OFF...Tomer flagged me down as we were leaving and said he had the new price, $21K. I told them to turn the trucks around and bring my stuff back. The "Boss" who refused to give me his name told me on the phone I could come pick up my stuff in Santa Barbara, that he wasn't bring it back. They lowered the price to $17K.... this was a complete bait and switch move where they hold your property hostage until you pay. And they want payment in cash or postal money orders so you have no recourse. They moved our arrival date multiple times, we flew out to the house as they said the property would be there next day. The truck didn't show up for another 5 days, we had to sleep on the floor of an empty house. They also told us the semi couldn't make it to our house, so they charged me another $1,500 cash to move everything into two smaller trucks for delivery. All they do it broker out their jobs, they only own one truck. Look them up on the DOT website. HORRIBLE! DON'T USE!

I doubt the 5 start reviews are even real people. Look at the other reviews where the same thing happened to other's, I wish I would have read the reviews better instead of just looking at the star rating! I filed a complaint with DOT as this seems to be a common issue with rouge movers.

  11. Liars- Bait and switch

Took the time to count every item I was moving. Called 3 times with exact item counts so I was prepared for the amount as they state it is an estimate. Was quoted $4500. When they showed up and “weighed” the items my new total was $7000... after leaving some items at my old home.

Asked Peter specifically how long these typically take, 3-5 days in good weather, 7-10 days in bad weather... today is 21 days and I have no idea where my items are.

Yes a Uhaul from CA to TX was expensive however I am kicking myself for using this company. I have called dispatch 2-3 times a week for 3 weeks now just to be told that my items are being loaded onto the truck... lies. Today’s update... they are in Texas ... like I believe them. Per the contract they have 21 business days... didn’t realize truckers only worked Monday- Friday but whatever. I read wonderful reviews before using this company but now horror stories are coming out.

I’m scared to see if my items ever actually show up. And if they do what condition will they be in. I will update review once my items show up. If they do ha ha!

    Consumer Beware!!

  12. Stay away

Be prepared to get lied to, to pay more than your quote, little or no communication, then not have everything show up. How do you loose 2 full king bed sets? Call them, good luck!!

  13. Do NOT Choose Them!!

Besides the initial conversation with Peter where he charms you into them, this "company" is a joke. They are NOT a carrier, underestimated the move by almost double, overcharged me, lost/stole my toolbag, hung up on me when following up, and no communication throughout the move. I had to call them to figure out where my stuff was. DO NOT GO WITH THEM!!

  14. Overall move

Quoted a low price from Peter and on the day of the move they jacked the price up 3 times what was quoted for the same items. When they arrived to move the furniture they couldn’t get the couch up the stairs. The local lady was completely useless in helping and said they should just leave the couch on the lawn. Worst company ever. NEVER USE THEM.

  15. Broken furniture, missing pieces, now being ignored by the company

I hired this company to help me move to a new state, and received service so horrible I didn’t even know this was possible. I’ve moved over 10 times in my life and have never been in such a shockingly disappointing and terrible situation. I have so many complaints, but I’ll only share my top grievances:

First, multiple pieces of furniture were broken. The leg from one of my desks is completely snapped off. Two pieces of my bed frame were broken. None of my floor lamps made it back in once piece. My cabinet pieces look like somebody dropped them off a 2 story building.

Second, out of the 10 large pieces of furniture that were disassembled, only one of them was reassembled after being delivered. Everything else was left on my floor, in pieces. My tables, couch, cabinets, floor lamps, are all still in pieces. I specifically paid for disassembly and assembly services, yet they would not assemble my furniture. They said they could not do so, and asked me to call the company which was closed on a Saturday. It is now Wednesday and they won’t return our calls. I am shocked they were able to leave me with disassembled furniture, when that’s specifically written into the contract of what I paid for.

Third, pieces of furniture are straight up missing. One lamp is missing pieces. A bed frame was missing 2 pieces (which I later found broken in the trash and on the floor). One desk is missing pieces required to put it back together.

Fifth, many of our items were filthy and covered in a layer of black/brown dirt. I have no idea what it is but it’s clear our items were not properly wrapped.

Sixth, two of our movers did not wear masks. My boyfriend and I visit his parents often (who are much older) and this forced us to quarantine before being able to see them again.

Seventh, I wish I could make this up, but I’m not joking - one of the movers had diarrhea at my apartment and did not wipe the toilet seat.

Here are just a few photos so you can see for yourself:

    https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1IJLRifScP6gRbVA2ESNR5ot3fLgWIgGQ?usp=sharing

Finally, there were hiccups in scheduling (one person told us our items would come on one date, another person told us another date) and customer service was poor, but none of that compares to the sheer amount of damage, missing items, and lack of assembly.

I spoke to someone on the phone who condescendingly asked me if I was “sure” that items were missing, or if I “forgot” that the driver gave me the missing items. I told them I was 100% sure. We argued until I let them know that I have a home security camera with footage I’m happy to send over if they don’t want to believe my word.

Moving is already a stressful time, and I’m disappointed that we ended up being tricked by a company that seemed legitimate.

My calls and emails are now being ignored. I’ve begun filing an insurance claim but it’s clearly set up to be difficult - there are a lot of hoops you have to jump through to prove the damages you are claiming, making it incredibly difficult to verify your claim. You must have receipts for every single item purchased, as well as 2 separate contractors provide an estimate to verify your claims.

Please take this as a warning - do not hire this company even if they seem cheaper in the beginning. They quoted me a $2,100 move and it ended up being over $4000 - this is not necessarily their “fault” if I had more items than they initially expected, but I want to throw that in, you may be receiving a much lower estimate that you’ll end up getting paid - so don’t let a cheaper price be your determining factor. Take it from me, a girl who is still sitting at home with no furniture assembled, a broken bed frame, missing furniture pieces, and no returned phone calls.

If this happened to you - please file a BBB complaint and DOT complaint. Hopeful that will prevent others from having the same experience.
