  1. THIEVES, DO NOT HIRE

First red flag is payment method that you cannot stop or dispute. After they took my money they were very rude, sarcastic & unhelpful. On moving day the driver showed up @my home @12:26am & proceeded to accost me about how much more money it was going to cost to move my things. I showed him my contract & he said it did not matter. I was there alone, on an almost deserted road & here are five guys w/the largest one yelling @me after midnight. To say I was afraid is an understatement. When I did not agree to a larger payment he left. I contacted the company & they informed me that I had cancelled the move & my $700 deposit was non-refundable. I told them what had happened & they insisted I had not held up to "their" contract and click - goodbye. I reported to the BBB but still no way to get my money back from these thieves. What a scam. DO NOT EVEN WASTE YOUR TIME CONTACTING THIS SHAM OF A COMPANY!! With all of the moving going on they are definitely taking advantage of hard working people who just want an honest service and to get what they paid for. DO NOT LOSE YOUR MONEY HERE!!

  2. THIS IS A SCAM, DO NOT HIRE

This company is a complete scam, DO NOT USE THEM! They took my $600 deposit, promised to be available for any questions ANY time but as soon as they got my cash, the guy that promised to help me was nowhere to be found. They told me they would be there Friday but then they said Saturday. I started reading reviews and found out this is a common situation and many people reported that they would take their stuff and then demand at least another $2000 before they will give their stuff back to the customer. They are unprofessional, rude, and 100% a scam. Dont make the same mistake I did

  3. I would give a negative 10 star to these criminal scammers

I gave them a deposit of $1272 on 2/2. Called back to cancel after reading reviews & was told to cancel in writing. That was approximately 15 minutes after giving my bank card number to Move Smart or MoveMeSmarter, whatever they call themselves today. Sarah gave me email to send cancellation to. My husband called immediately after sending email & Sarah confirmed she received cancellation & money would never come out of my bank account. 3 days later, they took the money. Husband called again & was told it would take 7 to 10 days to refund & it never should have happened. I left for FL & around the 20th finally got my internet etc hooked up so I could look up my account. Money was still not there. Husband called Sarah again, she said it would be 2 to 3 more days. It's now 3/8, so that's 38 days. I called & spoke w/a real gem of a "human being", Chris who claimed that we didn't fill out an email after talking to Sarah giving them new address so they couldn't send it. I told him I never got email, he argued he's looking at it right now. I argued I'm on computer right now & don't have that email. Told him about other complaints & I have trouble believing they're actually sending money this time since they keep saying a couple days. After arguing w/Chris some more, I told him I'm considering suing in civil court & filling out criminal complaint since it's against the law to take money from someone's account after being notified in writing they're no longer authorized to do so. He told me he's pretty versed in the law & that's not true. I explained I've worked for attorneys for 20 yrs so I'm pretty versed in law myself. He hung up on me, of course.

I went on my email to find low & behold there's an email sent seconds ago asking for my address for refund. Now keep in mind they had my info because they were going to move me to new address. Why do they need me to confirm my address in an email? Also why didn't Sarah tell my husband that when he called wks ago? He was on speaker & I didn't hear her say anything to that effect. We'll see if I get my money back in 2 days (again). Claims because it was a check by phone they can't put back in my bank & have to mail me a check. Guess we'll see if it comes & if so, will it bounce? I have no faith in what these criminals/scammers say. I also filed complaint w/BBB right before this review. THEY HAVE A D- RATING W/BBB! So I'm obviously not the only one who's had issues w/these thieves.

  4. Stephanie Brown

Actually no stars. This is a scam. Long distance move from Lexington, KY to Charleston, WV. My brother died so I hired this company to move his furniture from a one bedroom apartment. Price quoted $1580, deposit $ 580, then half on pick up, the rest at delivery. I live three hours away from my brothers residence. I told them this on our first conversation. Movers were supposed to arrive 2-21-2021, between 9am-1pm, then it changed to 10am-2pm. Got a call at approximately 9:00 am, 2-21-2021 that there was a cancellation, and my move would be early. But then he said upon reviewing my list of items, my cubic feet was misquoted and he would call back in ten minutes, he did not. Call customer service at 12: 30, explained the call from earlier. She informed me movers ETA was 10am - 2pm, not 9am-1pm and she had no knowledge of who called me and told me there was cancellation, but would have the driver call me. From that point on multiple phone calls between me, customer service, who notified driver, who then notified me. Each time they both assured me that movers were on their way, each call the ETA kept changing. By 8 pm I was very frustrated. Asked for refund, customer service rep replied I’m warning you if you cancel, you will not get a refund. 8:06 pm foreman called to offer discount and take my items to storage, that wasn’t the agreement. 9pm no movers, driver called said my boss wants me to help you out, I’m on the way, asked his location and ETA to my brother residence, he said he didn’t know, because he didn’t know where he was as he wasn’t from Kentucky and he couldn’t look at his GPS. Needed to go to hotel first to switch drivers who would then transport my items to WV. I was told by the foreman there was no driver to WV that night. By then I was feed up and left to drive home. Do not hire these people. It was an absolute nightmare. Can’t get a refund because I’m accused of canceling service. Customer service rep says driver showed up and I wasn’t there. I don’t know when he showed up because I was on the phone with him at 9:00 pm and he definitely wasn’t at my brothers apartment. How long is a customer supposed to wait for movers? I called customer service this morning she offered to reschedule. Really? After what I went through. Don’t bother calling the owner or the representative who scheduled the move, they won’t help. Asked to speak to them, they were conveniently unavailable. I requested a call back, they haven’t called back. They still have my deposit but, but I refuse to continue to do business with these people.

  5. SCAMMERS

We paid a $1,000 deposit to have them pick up our items to move from North Dakota to Arizona. We started calling about a week before because we had questions, no one was answering or calling us back to answer our questions. The day of, they finally called to tell us sorry we had an incident with our truck so we will not be moving your stuff for you. They said they’d send the deposit back in the mail. Months later, no deposit back. When we try to call, they simply hang up on us. SAVE YOUR MONEY AND TIME. Do not let these pathetic scammers take advantage of you.

  6. All the bad things

Believe all the bad things that are on here. They bring zero value and are brokers only. Peter Russo was who I worked with and he was not even willing to help when it was obvious that the contractors they hired were screwing us. The contractor added 40 feet to the distance to the door and threatened to withhold our items if we did not pay. They also did not list the full amount that we paid on the receipt and forced us to sign that our items were delivered in good condition prior to delivery. They were past the estimated 5-14 days for delivery. They then missed the first delivery time on Monday and were late to deliver to us on the next day. They had zero moves before us, lied about why they were late. They damaged furniture and artwork. US Movers, Inc US Dot NO 2948936 & ICC 998407 were the pickup contractors. The contractor for delivery was D&D Relocation at 506 Oleander Dr. Hallendale, FL 33009 and the phone is 954-548-8288. AVOID THEM ALL. Do whatever you can to work directly with a qualified carrier. The original quote was for $1560 roughly and we ended up paying $1950.

  7. One NIGHTMARE of an experience

Working with them was an absolute NIGHTMARE. The moving company they all warned you about. They’ll quote something and when they’ll come to pickup at your site, they’ll make an absolutely ridiculous quote. Unfortunately you’re all packed up and ready to move that you really don’t have much choice except succumbing. Also absolutely pathetic customer service- not bothered to reply to distressed customers.

  8. Scammers.

They will tell you all the bad reviews are from people who were not accurate with their inventory. They’ll go over your inventory twice before move day. You’ll express your concerns about being over-charged the day of (because of all the reviews) and they’ll put you at ease, reassuring you. But on the day of your move when you have no other options and you’ve already put down a deposit, they will hike up your move to nearly double your original quote. Don’t take a chance- invest in better movers or get moving pods. Oh, and one of the “positive” reviews below used to picture from google images. So it’s obviously a fake review.

  10. Never provided service / took my money

STAY VERY FAR FROM THIS COMPANY. We were set up to move on Dec 26/27 2020. They called us said our truck didn't pass sanitation so we need to reschedule you. Our house was closing on Dec 29 and we had to legally be out but they said they would come on Dec 29, 2020. I told Sara the customer service rep that Dec 29 was the absolute deadline and if they don't full fill it I want a refund. She swore up and down no problem we promise we will come. Dec 29, 2020 comes the driver Casey calls me and says I will be to your house at 4pm and then shows up at 5pm. Then he smiles a little and says Mam please come here I need to show you something (He opens the back of his truck and there is enough for not even a 1 bedroom apartment). I said you have to be kidding me!! He said my last job took more room and I know your contract/agreement says 649 cu ft. but I only have enough room on my truck maybe for 350 cu ft. He said who ever you gave your inventory list to way underestimated your quote and you have more like 850 cu ft to a 1000 cu ft. Casey went on to say If I were you I would not put even 350 cu ft on this truck because if you put your stuff on 2 different trucks it is easier to get lost in the shuffle. Karen his supervisor got on the phone and promised to send a truck from Vegas next day Dec 30, 2020. We end up moving our own things since we legally had to be out into a moving truck ourself. Hired and paid the men, paid for moving trucks. Then we were going to park it or go to Tucson. We asked Casey can you come to Tucson same price tomorrow Karen the Sup said no problem. Then we call them on Dec 30th and they say they can't get us in until after the New Years around Jan 2/3. We would already been to our new home at that point and its way too late. We ended up having to rent a moving truck and drive our self. The manager Chris Ocean is very rude and hangs up on you. When you call to demand a refund he talks over you, won't let you get a word in edge wise and then tells you to stop calling for the refund and you're not getting one and if you continue to call he will get you for harassments. My plan now is I will be submitting a civil lawsuit and I plan on fighting for every penny back. My $790 deposit and the $500 I paid for being honest to add a few inventory items I had forgot. I plan to sue them for my money back, expenses out of pocket for doing it myself, hiring movers and moving trucks and time and aggravation. I gave them a chance to make it right and give a refund back for all the mess they caused me on my move but they refuse. I will show all the bad google reviews to the judge and let the judge decide and I will be calling the Dept of Transportation. BBB is already filed. I mean business !! no one robs of me of my hard work money and you can't legally keep someone's money when you didn't provide a service.

    Service: Out-of-state move

  11. Con-Artists LIARS being investigated by the AG's office in Fla

These cons have been running a scam for a long time now but it ends now. They will take your money, cancel your move and refuse to refund you. They will give you a quote then come out and charge you more, refuse to move you and take your money, unless you pay more. They will deliver your furniture broken, blackmail you for more money again. IT STOPS NOW. Please IMMEDIATELY contact the Florida's AG office and file a formal complaint. Go here ---> http://myfloridalegal.com/contact.nsf/contact?Open&Section=Citizen_Services - Also, contact the Boca Raton police department and file a report. Take down that report number. DO NOT USE THESE Cons.

  12. Extremely rude

Here's the email I sent to the company 3 days after my experience on 1/15/21.

Hello, I will not be choosing your moving company.  My initial experience was so bad.  While talking to Aaron to relate the inventory, there was so a lot of noise in the background - other agents talking to clients I imagine. I kept telling him that I couldn't tell if he was talking to me or if it was the background noise.  Then Aaron passes me to Brendon. The background noise was less.  However, as Brendon was reviewing the inventory many items were incorrect.  Brendon got so frustrated he said, "I can't talk to you any more"  and hung up.  I was so shocked, I had to get up from my desk and shake it off.  I was that bad.

  13. Fraudulent contract practices

MoveSmart had an error on their end that messed up my moving date in their systems, even after I confirmed from them November 11, 2020, resulting in at least $600 of extra personal expense to myself for hotels and airfare when they missed my move-out dates of Dec 28-29. I called once on Dec 27, twice on Dec 28, and then again on Dec 29, when I was finally told they did not schedule the truck correctly.

David Ocean, the apparent manager, was only authorized to offer me a $400 refund for my "inconvenience" despite this being 100% MoveSmart's fault. I was then told a crew would come to my house on Dec 31st. I got a call on Dec 30, that a crew would be at my house in 2 hours. Once onsite, after they had loaded my items, they changed a flat fee of $3500 to $4500 without m y knowledge or consent. They would not securely take my items without me paying for the extra, despite me disputing it and showing them a copy of my signed contract from November. I HAD NEVER SEEN THIS ADJUSTED CONTRACT WITH THE $4500, and it definitely did not have my signature.

I followed up with Chris Ocean first week of January 2021, and he told me they had another "error" in entering the apparent $400 refund that led to me be charged another $1000. He offered to refund the $1000 they erroneously charged but refused to honor the $400 refund agreed to in email, wrongly insisting that the $400 refund was somehow part of $1000, which is not mathematically possible. He refused to provide this amount to me that he had promised, and stopped all communication on January 8, 2021.

  14. Stay away!!!

I received my quote and booked my move to lock in the rate. I was told and its stated on my contract I have 72 hours to cancel with full refund. I canceled within the hour due to my husband booking something as well. Its been a week and I have yet to receive my refund. I have reached out multiple times with no response. I Am now out $1000 and am not using them to move. Stay away!

  15. Run away quick!

Liars & cheaters. Never showed up after 4 days of waiting past the date they said they would arrive.
