  1. Late, expensive and no communication

I moved from iowa to colorado, a 11 hour drive.

where to being, i paid 3,000+ for A ONE BEDROOM, and when they arrived they said they didn't have enough space, so i either A) had to pay more or B) leave a couch behind, so i left a couch behind. JUNE 5TH, almost a MONTH ago, it has taken almost a MONTH to take my items 11 hours away, ive called over 10 times, only got 2 answers, apparently on the paperwork they were supposed to leave a number to call so i could call the movers, no luck, no number, so i called the next day and the girl who answered said, it should be here in 4/5 days, no luck. 8 more days and it'll be a month, im in an empty apartment, no communication on whats going on and every voicemail and email i've sent hasn't been answered. dont use this company.

  2. Horrible experience, went back on promises, hidden charges

TL; DR: If you care about moving your stuff in time at the price you initially agreed to, I strongly recommend: DO NOT HIRE NATIONWIDE MOVERS. They will leave you with a horrible experience and a hole in your pocket.

I wanted to hire movers to move my stuff from San Francisco to Seattle. My stuff was stored in two places, one in a storage warehouse in SF and another in a residential house in Sunnyvale.

I talked with several movers and nationwide quoted the lowest price with several nice promises, so I hired them for the job without even looking at any reviews.

Although the stuff was delivered at the end without any damage/missing items, I am extremely dissatisfied with their service. I strongly recommend AGAINST hiring them for your move, and I personally would never hire them again.

My dissatisfaction boils down to 3 points:

    1. They are untrustworthy and go back on their word.

    2. Horrible and arrogant customer service.

    3. No transparency about the process.

When I first talked with movers, I had 2 main requirements for which I was willing to pay a premium.

    1. I wanted pickup from 2 locations which are slightly distant.

    2. I needed the move pickup to be done within the next 2-3 days and delivered within a week after that.

While talking with nationwide, I was promised the following:

    1. They will start the move on the day I wanted, or the next day.

    2. The quote would include 2 pickups. They said normally it would cost $450 for adding another stop but they will waive that for me.

    3. Price for full protection was included in the quote.

I was happy with the deal and agreed to hire them. But they backtracked on all the above 3 promises.

    1. They were not the actual movers. They hire some another company to do the actual move. They first hired a company which agreed to make the move on the day we agreed upon. I talked with them and set an appointment at the warehouse for the pickup (the warehouse charges a $100 fee if the appointment is rescheduled). I informed nationwide about the fee and they promised the pickup will happen on time. However, nationwide canceled the contract with the mover company, just within an hour before the appointment! When I called them, they didn't give me any reason or explanation and just said they will move my stuff the next day with another company. This was after the initial company was ready to pick up my stuff and I told them about the $100 fee. They just said, we can't do anything, and told me pay the fee and reschedule (Luckily for me, the storage warehouse I used to store my stuff, Makespace, was kind and generous enough to waive this fee for me after I told them about the screw up of the movers, and I highly recommend using Makespace!). Then they hired LA Movers who did collect my stuff the next day. However, instead of starting the move that day itself like they promised, they didn't start the move until 7 days later. I was never told about this delay before!

    2. On the day of the pickup, LA movers called me and said the second pickup was not included. When I called nationwide, they said I need to pay another $150 for the second pickup. When I mentioned the previous agreement, I was told it's free only if the second place is within 10 miles. But they initially mentioned they waived $450 for me, that was a flat-out lie. The customer service rep I was talking to was extremely rude and basically said I don't care what you heard before but shell out another $150 by the end of day or forget about the second pickup, and cut the call on my face while I was talking! So I paid the extra money. I wasn't even allowed to talk with rep I initially talked with.

    3. The last thing I was promised was full protection. If any damage happens to any item while in the hands of the mover, they will pay me for its cost completely. But when LA movers sent me their agreement, I found that it asked me to sign a waiver for that very protection! And said they will offer a base protection where if they break my monitor worth 500$, they will pay me only 2$ for it! And I was charge extra to add on that protection, that nationwide initially promised.

I had a very stressful and tiresome experience, and I was constantly forced to shell out more and more money, when ironically this is exactly what nationwide warned will happen if I choose someone else who quoted lesser price for the move.

  3. Move 1000 miles

Worst experience of my life. Lies, they subcontract out everything. They are holding my furniture in a warehouse, won't tell me where, I gave them $2000 deposit, my furniture was promised to be delivered within a week, they refuse to answer phone, the subcontractor wants a contract to allow 21 business days to deliver furniture. This is not acceptable. The 7 days is over. No furniture.

Worst moving company I have ever dealt with!

  4. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!!!!

Our movers showed up, packed the van, etc and things were smooth. And we signed for a specific cubic feet. When the scam artists went to deliver, they called me at 5pm for an 8am delivery the next day, STATING MY BILL WAS TRIPLED. Yes TRIPLED, of what was agreed upon. They never numbered the items prior to loading so guess what, when I asked for the numbering sheet they had to pull every thing off and redo it. When I got my final bill, the cubic feet were crossed out and a doubled square footage was wrote in. NOT WHAT I SIGNED BTW!!! These people are the definition of scam artists. Do yourselves a favor and DO NOT use this company!

  5. Run Away!

Would like to personally call out Chris, and Katie for being trash human beings. Chris, for being a lying and manipulative child. Katie, for being the worst customer service rep I've had the displeasure of speaking to. Avoid this sad excuse of a business at all costs. It's a complete scam, most likely run out of their mother's basement where they live off of the deposits they con out of people. Run away from these greedy, basement dwelling, gremlin fiends! Run away!

  6. Scam Artists

We were scammed by these “moving brokers” that claim to set you up with their “network of movers” because they’re not an actual moving company, but supposedly take the stress out of finding out and do it for you. Well we unfortunately believed this lie. Today is the day of our supposed interstate move and there is no one here and no one scheduled. They scammed us out of a $2,000 deposit that they now refuse to give back, of course. And we’re not the only ones. After looking online, several other people describe the same exact experience as us. This is their game, they get the deposit and then don’t fulfill their promise.

Shelby and “Corbin” (he originally said his name is Manny, then hesitated and said his name is Corbin, I’m sure they’re both using fake names) will tell you everything you want to hear. Don’t believe a word.

Do NOT use this company. Do yourselves a massive favor and don’t end up like my husband and I who were scammed by these people. They said they could move us from Texas to Colorado and today was our move day—no one showed up. We’re having to scramble and find another way to move and they don’t want to give us a two thousand dollar deposit back. They will tell you what you want to hear and scam you. This is in May 2021, they’ll also say that these bad reviews are because they used to have different management. Don’t believe the lies.

  7. This 'company' is a scam

This is a scam and a con operation. If you make the mistake of giving them your credit card, you are not likely to get any of your "deposit" money back. However, if you read the contract and email a cancellation to "cancel@nationwidemovingstorage.com" within 48 hours you might just get 90% of your money back. If you call or email any of their many other email addresses, you will definitely not get anything back. After the 48 hours had passed, and my salesman had supposedly accepted my cancellation, another of the cons called to say basically 'ha ha, you did it wrong, read the contract and kiss your money goodbye.'

Just to get the occasional good review, they chose a name similar to another business in Florida, but perhaps they want these bad reviews so that customers back out, and they get the money for doing nothing but conning you.

I disputed the transaction with my credit card company, and cancelled the card so these cons couldn't do further damage. Better luck to you.

  8. A Fake Company to begin with

These crooks (supposedly a company) had me sign something on the Internet --- of which I have no copy or idea what it is/was--- and charged me $883, supposedly for a 'deposit'.

As I found out they are fake, I asked to cancel it all, both on the phone and via multiple emails. I got nowhere. I can only blame myself for trusting crooks. I strongly suggest:

DON'T EVER GET CLOSE TO THESE CRIMINALS!!!

  9. Please I beg you do not hire this company

First I was quoted at $2300 for a studio apartment I was taking is a king bedroom set and couch a love set & (4) Flat screen TV’s & (5) medium boxes I paid a $900 deposit and close to pick up date I was told to pay an additional $250 because Jade Dawson said I went over the square feet I was quoted at then once the movers came I had to pay $935 because they said that Jade who did my quote listed two loveseats also they told me that nationwide are brokers they hire others moving companies I was told 7-10 days it’s been 30 days still no delivery date they couldn’t even tell me the location of where my belongings are every time I call I get no answer when I do get a answer I get told “Did you read your contract” and rushed off the phone I have two small children and we are still in a empty apartment due to Nationwide Jade Dawson have been very disrespectful and rude I moved from Seattle, WA to Houston, TX Which is a (34 hr) drive it should of never took over 30 days I really which I go with these guys I made the worse decision they called me from an ad and I have been treated like I owe them something after I spent 3k on a move!!

  10. Terrible

ONE DAY BEFORE our move across the country and on the day the movers were scheduled to pick up our things the company called me saying the movers backed out and that we now had no way to move all of our belongings. I even called them asking where the movers were when no one showed up; I don't think they would have even called to tell me that we now had no way of moving if I hadn't called first. The sales representatives were very helpful, it was never an issue that I couldn't get a hold of them, and they gave a full refund. However, they provided no backup plan and just left us hanging. This was extremely stressful, frustrating, and unprofessional. I would not recommend this company to anyone.

  11. Don't ever consider it!!!!

Where to start? They call you after you reply the adds on internet. They come with pressure to close the contract, claiming that you'd have 48h to cancel it and have your money back from the deposit. The lady says you should contact her in any case. Then you do it, and NEVER hear from them. And you find out that she promised flat rate, when there's a lot of extra charges. They're EXTREMELY RUDE and will totally give you a nightmare!

  12. RUDE

This company was incredibly rude to deal with. I asked for a simple quote and, after having to listen to a rant about why their company is better than everyone else's (they even noted that some companies pay homeless people to give good reviews...that should've been a red flag already) - they gave me a quote and said I absolutely won't find any better. I said please email it to me and I'll review - they then said no, I won't even have this price by end of day. I said I understand but I am not ready to make a decision. The sales rep then said "sure, that's how we make money is by giving out quotes all day. good bye" and hung up. I still can't believe it - I would never trust this company now.

  13. It's been almost a month

They have kept my belongings for almost a month since they picked them up in LA. They refuse to deliver after telling me that it'll take 7-10 days. I'm ready to call the FBI because their crime extends to two states.

  14. Doubled Binding Estimate at Pick up

I’m out 759.00 deposit and the company isn’t responding to calls or emails. At pick up they wanted another $3800 OVER the estimate. They canceled pick up on a second attempt( but still not guaranteeing their binding estimate) then I was told to just go rent a truck, “you won’t get your money back.” And it looks like they were right.

Unresponsive and unethical. I would stay clear of this company.

  15. 3 bed move from NJ to TX.

Overall it was a helpful and stress free experience. I needed to book a long distance move and Nationwide scheduled everything. I told them all the items I have in my house, they gave a estimate, a payment plan schedule and the dates of pickup and drop off. They couldn't have made it any easier for me. The movers arrived slightly late but they were able to work quickly without damaging any of my property. I would recommend Nationwide to anyone looking to complete a big move across the country.
