  1. Our move

I would recommend New Leaf. They were up front about challenges this summer with a driver and truck shortage nationally (which I've seen on the news as well). I called frequently to check on our status and the CSR were always polite, professional and even apologetic. Alex and Max were

wonderful on delivering our belongings. They, too, were polite, professional and personable. Our belongings were in good shape when received. It was a very difficult location to get the truck in and to reach (steps, truck had to be parked a distance away). Never heard one complaint.

  2. THIS COMPANY IS A SCAM

THIS COMPANY IS A SCAM!!!! DO NOT USE!!! If I could give them 0 stars I would.

Short Version: They were 100% non-responsive the day before my move. I did not even find out timing for my move until 12 hours prior. Our estimate that we were given was for roughly 2K and when the movers showed up they said we have everything written down correctly for our inventory but that we were going to need to pay an ADDITIONAL 7K (yep almost x4 more of what our estimate even was) because of stairs (even though we clearly stated what our stair situation was when writing down our estimate), they gave us a truck much larger than what was needed for the move and so it was on us to pay for the extra square footage even though we did not request this large of a truck at all, and additional labor costs they said there were only 2 movers when typically there are 4 (again not a request by us, it was the companies on fault).

So some how we inventoried everything our move correctly but they wanted to scam us out of an additional 7K on top of the 2K they were already charging us for a move that was only 2 hours from point A to B...We called customer service and the also could not explain to why our estimate was so far off from what they were trying to charge us upon showing up! I have plenty additional information/screenshots/receipts I can add to prove all of this. DO NOT FALL FOR THESE SCAMMERS!!!!

  3. Absolute nightmare

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. This was one of the worst experiences I’ve had to date. At first, New Leaf was great - Josh has great selling skills and i fully believed i had made a good decision for my planned cross country move. However, once i made my initial deposit, everything changed. The communication was so bad I’ve never experienced anything like it. I called several times to ask about full coverage insurance, which i had to go through them to obtain, and never received a response. Each time i waited on hold for at least an hour with customer service and when i finally got ahold of someone, they told me someone would call me back with an answer (which they never did) and treated me as an inconvenience. The final straw was when they canceled my move at 8pm the night before it was scheduled. They gave me no alternative, just canceled it entirely. Because it was after business hours, i couldn’t call anyone else or try to figure out alternatives until the following morning. Not only did i have to change my flights, i had to ask my landlord to let me stay a few extra days and reach out to my new job regarding my first day. Overall, I think 1 star is generous - it was an absolute nightmare. Do not use this company.

  4. Brokers turned my move over to hacks

Be aware that New Leaf are brokers who do not actually perform moving services. Customer service phone line was hit or miss. I would call at 2:00pm ET, no answers. Had to call on average 5 times before New Leaf representative would pick up. They advertised that they handle small moves; our small move from FL to IL was turned over to Bristol Movers out of NJ who charged more than 30% times the original quote("binding estimate" $2540, final charges $3353) and delivered a chest with broken foot, dresser missing a drawer pull, floor lamp broken, and painting damaged by what looked like someone stepping on it. So far. I would recommend you get a moving company who actually moves your stuff. Move also took 2 weeks- while we had the time, if there's any time sensitivity, better to get a company with some assurance of how quickly stuff will come. Be sure not to pack photos or any other temperature sensitive items.

  5. Nightmarish experience

Moving across country using New Leaf Moving Group was a truly horrible, extremely stressful experience. They subcontracted to Cobra Van Lines, who a quick search shows is indeed a problematic company. After signing the contract with New Leaf, the very professional sounding persuasive rep, who gives out his "personal" cell and email would answer no further calls or emails.

The pickup in Chicago was done by clear talented pros. They did however, make me sign an additional contract after my house was loaded on the truck - at which point, there didn't seem to be a lot of choice.

The delivery was horrific. My things were going into storage and I had checked ahead to see if a 53ft trailer would fit. It would, the storage people have been there awhile and had numerous semis come through. After rescheduling several times, the Cobra driver (another subcontractor, not really even a Cobra employee) said his truck wouldn't fit. Without speaking to me, or getting my permission (I could have changed storage companies at that point) he had my things moved to a smaller truck and told me I owed him $1000 right now. The storage company was shocked that a mover would behave in that manner. I got New Leaf on the phone and they backed up the mover. (BTW - I never saw the big rig, and am not convinced my things were ever on one in my destination area.) New Leaf was wrong about a semi not fitting - but even if they were right - they semi could have been parked along the street also.

Finally, New Leaf lowered the payment to an additional $650 and agreed to pay $300 of it. I thought that at this point, paying an additional $350 was the best I was going to get and agreed to pay it. When the unloading started, it was explained to me that first they would need to remove the belongings of another drop they were doing, which was after mine. Perhaps this was the reason my things were moved to a smaller truck?

I had gone with New Leaf for their initial price quote. This was a big mistake - after additions in my starting point and delivery, they were much higher. If I had to do it over again, I would go with an established mover, not a broker. New Leaf professionalism and competent manner is limited to interactions before you sign the contract. Save yourself a lot of stress- do not use them.

  6. Very helpful

I usually don’t write reviews but I just moved out of state with New Leaf and they were excellent. I was really nervous because I hadn’t moved in over 15 years but they were so patient and answered all of my questions/gave me great tips. I appreciate how helpful they were and will be referring all of my family and friends who move in the future.

  7. Horrible customer service and company

When I was looking to hire New Leaf to find me a mover (they are a BROKER NOT A MOVING COMPANY) they always answered the phone and were very attentive, then after making the deposit and signing the contract, no more communication. I had to track them down for details and the name of the movers. Then New Leaf cancelled my order the day before the pickup and had no back up plan. Then they never reached out to me, I had to keep calling and finally spoke to someone how could not even explain what happened. This was a horrible experience when moving is already an emotional time. I have never been treated so badly and the customer service team are all uneducated, unfeeling people. I highly recommend NEVER using this company.

  8. Canceled and still have my money

I paid a deposit 3 months in advance for a move across the country over Memorial Day weekend. They never showed and called to cancel the day after the scheduled move. They sent my deposit refund check (the only way they would provide a refund was a check via the mail) to the wrong address and tried to tell me I needed to wait for them to receive the check back in order to send it to the correct address. Moving is stressful enough, let alone when you are scrambling to find a replacement over a busy holiday with a National truck shortage and out a significant amount of money. I just want my money back and never to have to deal with this company again and hopefully this helps so no one else deals with them either.

  9. Really really bad, avoid at all costs

We tried using New Leaf Moving group for our interstate move. They took an inventory of our items and gave us a quote of (they said) max $ 5500, where we paid $1500 upfront and the rest was to be paid to the movers

The movers were the typical scammers. Didn't come on the day they said, didn't communicate with us when they were coming and after phoning them an hour after each new promised time slot.

When they arrived, although we had the agreed volume of items, the movers tried to ask for $7000. They said it was because we had bags (these were heavy duty moving duffle bags, much easier than boxes) and because we were on 23th floor. We had already told new leaf moving group that we had bags. This was in the agreed price. We also continually told them we were high up and had booked the service elevator for the move -we had to keep changing this booking because they never turned up when they said they would but we did have it booked at the time they finally showed up.

New leaf are a brokerage and they contracted the job to a moving company called 'Cheetah Moving' who don't have an DOT number. When I enquired about their DOT number, New Leaf told me it was 2480884 which is registered to a moving company called White Gold Moving. When I questioned them about this they told me that it was that same company operating under a different name. I have looked up White Gold Movers and it seems that many others have experienced the same thing.

    https://www.yelp.com/biz/white-gold-moving-and-storage-gardena

We didn’t use them because movers were unreliable and aggressive and obviously trying to extort us. We asked new leaf for our deposit back but they are refusing, saying we refused the move. There is no way I would give my stuff to these guys, looking up white gold movers multiple people have said that these movers stole from them.

  10. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY

I implore all movers, do not use new leaf moving, do not use new leaf moving, do not use new leaf moving. They have horrible communication practices and fail to meet their own specified time periods for informing customers of what's happening and when. My quote also skyrocketed after the initial call to get a bid and sign up. Customer service rarely answers the phone (but if you call and press 1 for a quote then you'll get a human being on the line because they will be trying to swindle you out of money). New Leaf customer service won't answer the phone, didnt return Vmails and won't give highly relevant information about your move in a timely fashion. But they will take your money up front and again at the time they do their "quality assurance" call 2-5 days prior to scheduled pick up (but you don't really know when they pick up because they don't tell you). They tell you over and over it's a 3-day window and they'll call you 1 day ahead of that window, but then they didn't call me to tell me which day -- I called them and they gave the tired "oh, we're so busy" excuse... When I asked for my move day, they told me the day but not the time - I had to wait a couple more days for that piece of info. But that info never came my way even by 5pm the day before I was supposed to move!!! That was it for me. This is a shameful operation. Reviews are getting worse. My experience was awful. Do not use a broker. Call a reputable carrier directly. New leaf is awful and I'll be pursuing action to reclaim money for services never rendered because I totally lost faith that they would actually get this alleged carrier to show up to move my family. Do not use this company. Period.

  11. Don't even think about hiring New Leaf

Would give zero stars if I could. This company is borderline criminal, and quite possibly actually criminal. They are a moving broker, meaning they find out what you need, place your contract on a list where subcontractors can buy it, skim their fee off the top, and peace out. We have been waiting for our stuff for over two weeks now. They keep telling us they will give us an update soon, then their updates are that they tried to contact the carrier, but weren't able to, and will try again in like 5 days. We also learned that the subcontractor is probably committing insurance fraud, meaning New Leaf works with people willing to break the law to make a buck. These subcontractors damaged some of our furniture while we were watching them load our stuff, then they left random things behind, including rolls of tape, their half-empty Gatorade bottles, and more. Also, their customer service never answers the phone, and just reads the same script on the off chance that you get a hold of them. I am 95% confident that any positive review on here is either a freak accident or actually a fraudulent review by the company themselves. Take your money and RUN away from New Leaf.

  12. Worst Experience Ever

Absolutely the worst experience I’ve ever had with a business. My car was supposed to be picked up on Tuesday, and even though we called several times the week before to try to understand the pickup time, they would not provide one and kept forwarding the carrier’s information. The carrier did not answer the phone until THE DAY of pickup and said he had cancelled with New Leaf the week before. So, I now am halfway through a cross country drive with two children that was unplanned.

First. If you want a guaranteed date or range of dates for delivery or pickup, this company will not provide that. The carrier we were assigned was totally overbooked, unprepared and doing two day jobs in one by working 24 hour days back to back to back. From a safety standpoint, this is an absolute no-go.

Second. The moving carrier showed up without a truck or crew and asked my husband to drive him to a uhaul facility to rent a truck. He showed up with one other person to move a 4000sqft house and said he only had one day to do the job. He got 2 workers from Facebook Marketplace who had already worked a morning job, and they showed up at 2pm. He held them hostage at 10pm and wouldn’t pay them even though they couldn’t work because items had not yet been inventoried.

Third. My husband has been working with the crew lifting, packing and laboring since yesterday at lunch time (it’s now 9:30am). The main driver said he had another job booked today and had to finish, but the crew walked off except his one assistant, so those two and my husband worked all night and are just finishing now. Without my husband working, they wouldn’t have finished the job. Our things are being stored in a local public storage unit randomly, so, we are wondering if we will ever see them again.

Fourth. As they are finishing up this morning, the driver informed my husband that he will be collecting significantly more money right now (today) because there was more packing of glassware and pictures than expected. They are attempting to charge us an extra $10k. We have probably 20 photo frames/pieces of art and a standard kitchen with glassware and stemware, and a buffet with serving ware. Nothing crazy.

It’s impossible to get ahold of the carrier and we’ve struggled to get any actionable support from the New Leaf customer service team.

The truck still has our stuff in it, and the driver is too tired to take it to storage (understandably since there was too small of a crew and too tight of a timeline to do the job) so is going to leave our items in an unlocked truck, then is planning to take them to storage tonight. They left the storage unit unlocked all night and it is still unlocked. Our items are currently not secure, and we have no way to get anyone from New Leaf or the carrier to secure them or even address this situation with us.

If you want to basically move yourself in the middle of the night on an undesired timeline, not be confident you’ll ever see your things again, and get up-charged over and over, and also have to rework your entire schedule for a cross country move while paying $35,000, this is your company.

  13. DO NOT USE NEW LEAF MOVING GROUP

DO NOT USE NEW LEAF MOVING GROUP. I booked my move with New Leaf Moving Group more than a month in advance and paid the deposit upfront. They let me know they could not guarantee a specific pick up or delivery date but they gave me a time period of two days for the pick up window. They called me the day before to let me know they would be coming the following day between 4-7pm. I waited until about 8pm and then called (no one answered). Eventually I got a call saying they would come at 9:30pm. I then got another call saying they weren't coming that evening. That went back and forth four times between if they were coming, or not coming that evening. They eventually said they couldn't come that night and would come the next day. The following day I called and they let me know they couldn't make it that day and would come two days from then. I explained that would not work for me because I was flying to the new state I was moving to the following day. I spoke to multiple people that day who told me different stories about where they were coming or not. Eventually by about 1pm that day they let me know that they messed up and wouldn't be able to pick up my move EVER. They offered a refund and no apology and acted like they didn't just complete screw me over. I ended up having to rent a moving van and drive 12 hours through the night to get to my destination. DO NOT WORK WITH THIS BUSINESS. They contract to local delivery companies who are not organized and do not care at all about fulfilling their duties. They have no control over your move and I had the worst experience possible with this company.

  14. Worst experience

HORRIBLE Experience and Customer Service! This company will do all they can until they have your money then you won’t t be able to reach anyone. Very poor customer service and rude and very unreliable to say the least. 2 no shows no call no update for my car pickup which never happened. quote 2200 but they tried to charge me 8,000 on the move day with no real valid explanation. They arrived in a van and told me there was not enough room for my inventory. Then said I refused the pickup after they left. The way they handled the situation was just wrong and not my fault but They refused to return my deposit and they cant provide a date for my pickup so I lose my money or hope I get moved one day. I would never use this company again nor would I recommend this company!

  15. Stay Away From This Company

First of all, this company is a broker, they bid out your move, they do not have employees that move you. My review is for New Leaf Moving Group not the actual moving carrier. I was originally given a competitive price for my move and a 3-10 day window for my items to arrive. This was a long distance move from Chicago to Alabama. After the contract was signed, it’s been all downhill from there. When the movers arrived they tried to charge me an extra $2000 for moving my belongings due to what they said were errors on the part of New Leafs estimators. It has now been 12 days since I was available to take delivery of my items and they still have not arrived. After finally calling the actual carrier who have my items, somewhere unknown, they said New Leaf lied to me and the company actually has 30 days to bring my belongings to me not 3-10. I have never been contacted via phone by anyone from New Leaf as to the status or delivery date of my items. The only contact they’ve had is via email and even then, only when I initiated a contact to them as to where my stuff is. So here I am no belongings, no idea of when they might arrive. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY
