    Terrible communication, last-minute charges totalling over $2000, absolutely unprofessional customer service.

  2. The Worst!!

    Move from MA to Las Vegas: Very rude office woman and salesman Seth never returned multiple calls and texts I made whe I was told the delivery was being made the next day when I had requested to have it held for the 30 days. When I scheduled the pick up with Seth I told him and the loading supervisor I wanted it held for the 30 days storage because I new I would not have the money before then but it apparently was not done asnd sent on anyway and I was told by tghe rude office girl Jessica(?) or Jennifer(?) that I could not refuse delivery and it was being delivered the next day and I had to have the money for the driver so I ended up having to take out a pay day loan and borrowing money so I could pay them and now have to pay off this extremely expensive loan interest that I wouldn't have had to do if they had done what they promised and I told them to do. And then when called and texted Seth multiple times he never called back and still to this day a month later still has not reached out. He obviously doesn't care about his customers once he makes his money. They also lost 2 of my boxes

  3. MOVING COMPANY HIRED TO MOVE FROM NY TO SOUTH DAKOTA A BUST

    The NORTHERN ELITE VAN LINES company business model is to verbally gather all the information they feel is necessary and prepare a contract, which the customer is then requested to electronically sign. Their pricing is unit priced $7/cubic. During a preliminary call I explained the furniture and belongings were for several months temporarily stored in two (2) 8 ft. x 10 ft. x 10 ft. climate controlled storage units (1,600 cubic feet). Within a few days following this brief telephone call the marketing representative emailed me a single page contract with terms and conditions for my e-signature. I secured the contract with a credit card down payment of $1,568, leaving a contractual balance of $4,704. On November 30, 2021, I was called by the moving crew foreman while in South Dakota. After carefully listening to the foreman speak I came to the realization the volume of goods assigned to the contract (800 cubic ft.) was woefully underestimated. I reluctantly agreed to the higher cost being “over a barrel” which fits their business plan to a “T”. On December 1, I once again spoke with the same customer service representative I had spoken to on November 29th. I expressed my dissatisfaction about the inexcusable, substantial increase in contract costs because of a prolific underestimation made by the marketing professional (and admittedly signed off upon by me, the customer) who had firsthand knowledge of the volume of goods based upon the volume in the two storage units. The company did not call or communicate with me in any fashion for another fifteen days despite my obvious dissatisfaction over the completely avoidable increases. On December 8th, I took the burden upon myself to mail (next day priority) them my personal check in the amount $4,234 based upon anecdotal information provided by the pickup crew foreman. The check posted on December 14th, the third business day following their receipt. Lacking communication by the company I booked a flight to Rapid City South Dakota arrival due at 9:42 am Friday, December 17th. I did not feel the need to call and remind them that under contract they had until December 21 to make the delivery. During the late evening of Wednesday, December 15, I received three consecutive telephone calls; 8:07 pm, 8:07 pm and 8:08 pm. There were no message(s) left, just three vacuous calls. Thursday morning I was again called, this time from a different telephone number (a 551 area code in Bayonne NJ) by “the moving crew”. The crew was in Minneapolis and would be making delivery to the South Dakota residence that same day. I explained my circumstances to the crew member who told me he would need to contact Bayonne for further instructions. When Bayonne called me, it was the same defensive, attitude-challenged customer service representative I had had the displeasure of speaking with on prior occasions. She stated matter-of-factly the company had made their decision to deliver my goods on the 16th and there was nothing that I could do about that! This time I held ground, indicating that it was impossible for me to be there before about 10 am the following day. Her impassionate reply was that company policy is to call the customer within 24 hours of delivery; the travel distance involved was irrelevant. My “red-eye” flight leaving out of Hartford on December 17th arriving in Rapid City at 9:42 am MST was significantly delayed. I did not reach the house until 6:30 pm local MST on Friday, December 17th. Also on this day, during my transit, there were numerous, tense telephone calls from the same unfriendly customer service representative and someone identifying himself as the “Owner”. Obviously they were panicking; they needed to insure payment to their subcontracted crew upon delivery!! The crew foreman had the audacity to ask my 83 year old neighbor if there would be a gratuity offered the crew. The carnage they left behind in the house would suggest more a need for jail time than a gratuity; my furniture and other belongings were literally dumped in the front room of the house. I have numerous photographs of the horror I witnessed when I arrived. At least four articles of broken furniture, beds and small tables not reassembled per contract and smashed boxes resulting in broken glass and ceramic goods. There was a sixty (60%) percent increase in total cost to the customer based on a 79% increase in the volume of goods. This was completely avoidable if the company had submitted a “good faith bid” based upon the detailed information provided to them. This company called me less than 24 hours before their planned delivery despite the distance. Articles of furniture, glass and ceramic goods were left broken or shattered. The crew left me with their “dirty dishes” piled on top of boxes several feet from the front door as if to “rub insult into injury”. In a perfect world this company would have its DOT permit revoked or suspended depending further investigations.

  4. DO NOT USE

    I used them for a long distance move - MA to CA. The end price was almost triple what they quoted originally. Furniture was damaged, boxes were missing. I waited six months in an arbitration dispute and they only offered $36. I would give them zero stars if I could - and I will go out of my way to make sure no one else I know uses them in the future.

  5. Worst Movers Ever

    These people are the most dishonest group I have ever had the misfortune to deal with. They are not a moving company but a broker regardless of what they tell you. The girl that takes your quote, Kiersten, comes across as a new employee and pretends to keep asking her manager questions, coming back with a fabulous quote just by asking you what is in your house sight unseen (My mistake there). Jennifer, the shipping person, keeps in touch with you right until your stuff is picked up and then barely answers your calls. When they did come for my items the truck was too small and I had to throw things out or leave them behind, and then to rub salt in the wound, they doubled the price of my move...YES DOUBLED!!! I'm lucky enough to be able to have that money to pay, whereas most who're in the middle of a move don't, and could risk delaying a closing date and losing a house sale; They know they've got you by the throat, and boy to they use that to their advantage. I had at least 6 calls and messages to them with no answer. I did get 30 days free storage which is the only positive thing I can mention about the whole experience. After calling for my delivery date I was ignored twice then finally got in touch with them. They told me my stuff left the night before which was a Wednesday and said 3-4 days before it reached my state, but since I was the last delivery I wouldn't get my stuff till late that week. I got a call that Friday night from the driver saying he would be there Saturday morning at 9am and told me I had to have the balance in CASH or MONEY ORDER.....somehow I feel the IRS may not know about this YET!!! Once they got here all they did was complain about how heavy my furniture was and extorted another $200 out of me for bringing my stuff upstairs even though they were fully aware I was on the 3rd floor since the beginning of the contract, and they threatened to leave my things on the street if I didn't pay. They ended up only bringing about 30% of my things upstairs, and the rest of my stuff had to be put into storage that was paid for on MY dime. At least 10% of the storage boxes were completely smashed and some stereo equipment was broken. Not one of the trucking employees I met in person was an employee...all were contractors. I got a text later that night explaining my furniture would be delivered in 3 days even though it was already in my possession. If I could write words worse than "horrible" and "dishonest" without getting this review flagged, that is the description I would give this company.

  6. Never even got my things moved

    I arranged for a long distance move from NY to FL. The sales person I initially spoke to, Kirsten, was wonderful and she assured me everything would be taken care of in a professional manner, as I had been scammed just 2 days earlier by another company. I got a call 1 day before my scheduled pick up date stating that I couldn't have my stuff picked up because of a surprise DOT inspection. I was promised by Jenn, the customer service agent, that I would receive a call back in 2 days to confirm a new pick up date. I informed Jenn repeatedly that I had to leave NY in 2 days to arrive to FL in time for my job. She assured me that they would 100% pick up my things within a week from our call. After calling Jenn back MULTIPLE times, because she never called me, I was given a new date for a week and a half later. Not ideal, but I agreed because I was already IN FLORIDA with an infant. The day of my pick up, I got an email from the "owner" stating that they don't service the area and couldn't pick up my things. Completely unprofessional and ridiculous, as they should have known this 3 weeks ago when I booked. I was promised a refund from the deposit I put down on the day I booked. It is now 3 weeks after being promised a refund and I have yet to receive it. I call and email on a regular basis. Kirsten is no longer friendly and only answers my calls when I call restricted. She speaks over me and puts blame on everyone else. Jenn never answers the phone or calls back. I spoke to a Maria who placed blame on the owner. The owner won't email me back. This company is a complete joke. I would never recommend and I highly suggest everyone stays far away. They claim to be family run and have a welcoming demeanor at first, but I can assure you that is all a show to scam you out of your money. By far the worst company and people I've ever encountered. They will be excited to hear from my lawyer.

  7. I wouldn’t hire them again

    I would not recommend this company. Everyone I encountered was either dishonest, manipulative, or rude - or all three in one case. In short, they got me to sign by scaring me about what would happen if I went with a “non-carrier” service - that they wouldn’t give me an accurate pickup window, they’d charge me a ton more the day of the move, they would outsource the delivery - and they actually ended up doing every single one of those things. They also sent one man in flip flops to deliver my items, and, not surprisingly, he broke two of my mirrored furniture pieces because he could barely lift them (delivery dude told me with that he was a contractor and does not work for the company, and although he was wholly ill equipped to provide service and lied about “someone coming in an hour to help me” - no one ever showed - he was actually kind, I can’t say that about the sales rep and scheduler.) I also tried to file a claim for the two broken items but haven’t heard back from the company. Save yourself the money and the stress and go with someone else.

    They were very careful and wrapped my furniture so that it wouldn't get damaged. The crew was very helpful and eliminated some of the stress of the move. Everyone was wonderful! Highly recommend!

    This Company gave amazing service from beginning to end! Crews was not only meticulous with his attention to detail, but he was also really polite and courteous. He was also adept at identifying like-minded collaborators on both ends of the process, which came as no surprise.

    They did a lot of work at a reasonable price. They were friendly, easy to work with, and very efficient. They even set our bed up for us! They were recommended to me by a friend who loved them, and now I love them too and recommend them to anyone looking for reliable, friendly, and efficient movers!

  14. Delayed, Damaged DON’T HIRE!

    I was so confident that I invested hard earned money to hire the best moving company I could find. After doing a lot of research and listening to Chris Hall, Senior Moving Consultant sell me on why their moving service is the best I paid my deposit. Unfortunately I was unaware of mymovingreviews.com website until after I saw the damage after delivery. The only good thing I can say-the guys who moved my belongings were professional on both picking up and dropping off. What happened in between baffles me! My unpacking was a nightmare because well packed, valuable items were damaged. Double boxed and bubble wrap did not save my fine crystal. Do they use a wobbly conveyer belt when unloading customers belongings in the warehouse? My loaded two drawer file cabinet was completely disheveled. A castor is missing from a piece of furniture, causing me to spend money on a new set. What gives when you spend several thousand dollars for professionals? Seriously do your research and DO NOT HIRE NORTHERN ELITE VAN LINES!

    Everyone was friendly, extremely kind and worked efficiently. We received a good price for our three bedroom home as well. They were able to answer all of our questions as well. They were truly great. Everything was very reasonable and we are happy we chose a great company.
