  1. AVOID AT ALL COSTS !!!

This moving experience could not have gone any worse. Do not trust Zach’s charm and way with words because that’s how he got us. He likes to sweet talk you into believing they’re the best in the business and how you can’t trust a lot of moving companies these days due to scamming. Little did we know he was one of them. The first issue we had was the inventory count. When we gave it to him, our estimate was about $2500. It was an average estimate so we took it because other people offered the same. Fast forward and we ended up having more inventory than original, so we let them know, but it wasn’t by much. It was boxes and a mattress. And that added on about another $1000. At this point I’m skeptical because why is stuff adding up so fast? For boxes and a mattress? Anyhow, our delivery was meant to be on a Monday, but Tuesday at the latest. Tuesday we get a call that they’re running late and to expect them by 1pm Wednesday. They turn up at 7pm. With a truck. That doesn’t fit up the driveway. We specifically mentioned while we were planning with Zach the truck must be SMALL because our driveway is narrow and steep. They come with a giant truck and can’t get up the driveway! The actual movers call us to let us know, and they mention our option is that they can do a ‘long haul’ but that we would need to pay them. Why should WE have to pay extra money for them to walk our stuff when THEY were the ones who brought the wrong sized truck even when we told them it had to be small and came not just a day late but HOURS late? We called Zach who relayed us to Jennifer (probably the worst offender of them all) sorts things out and does us a ‘gracious act’ by saying we don’t have to pay for them to walk things up and down because it was an issue on their end. But what if we hadn’t made that call and just accepted we had to pay that fee? So then, the movers ASKED TO BORROW OUR CAR to move things up and down the driveway. Keep in mind this driveway is a three minute walk and they’re making multiple trips back and forth, using OUR gas. That would be fine IF THEY PAYED US BACK FOR USING OUR OWN CARS GAS?? Fast forward to the delivery date, and there’s an issue with the apartment not being ready. We ask if they could give us a 2 hour window (since they took about 6 hours of our time) and they say only if we pay $175 an hour. Typically we wouldn’t ask for that sort of leeway but after them using our own car, coming late by a day and 6 hours, them asking us to pay them due to a mistake they made, it didn’t feel like an outlandish thing to ask. Jennifer was the one we were dealing with on the phone and she just wouldn’t hear anything we had to say. Since we didn’t want to have to pay an extra $175 an hour we ask them to just drop it off at the original time (we just had to find somewhere to put the boxes and mattresses til then). We mention to her the customer service is beyond terrible, that due to all the mistakes and taking advantage of we would like some sort of reimbursement, AT LEAST for them coming over a day late and using her car. She mentions she will give us a discount but then puts us on hold while she talks to her supervisor. Once she comes back to the line she reports her supervisor said they didn’t offer any discounts or reimbursements of any kind. Not even for the gas that they used that was ours. I ask her to have the supervisor call us back and she mentions she will pass on the message and should expect a call later in the day, but it’s a day later and I haven’t received a call. And the cherry on top? Every single box delivered was damaged and falling apart and the mattress literally had dirt on it. Even a durable plastic storage bin was destroyed! Did they flip the truck over a few times or something? And all of this just for the bare minimum price of $4555 after they kept adding on their own prices. Just stay far, far away from these people. Scam of the century.

  2. OVER CHARGED CUBIC FEET BY 500 or $2,800.00

This a horrible company to use. The salesman Chris is a smooth talker and tries to persuade you his company is good by referring you to the DOT website and the amount of miles his company trucks have logged. This is just a ploy as they use subcontractors to move your belongings.

Chris also told me that my household belongings would be picked up in a company truck with their name on it. He never mentioned that Northern elite vans was doing business as Wrap and Tag who to my understanding subcontract out all of their shipping of individual’s household belongings. He also lied about the amount of time his company would store my belongings. This lead to a dispute at the pickup location after the truck was loaded. The driver provided me with a predetermined cost for the storage before the truck was even loaded based on the 1300 ft.³. How would they have known the amount of belongings until after the truck was loaded.

The company was to give me a couple days notice as to when they were going to arrive to pick up my belongings. Instead the owner called me at the last minute around 3:30 PM and ask if their driver could come by if they were there in an hour and pick up my belongings. I greed but it was a mistake. They arrived around 7:30 pm that same evening and was there for several hours.

The truck was partially for when they arrived. When they loaded the truck they stack it in a manner where they started out low and raised the load so when they got to the end of the trailer the trailer looked like it was packed fullI. They stretch out the load to fill the remainder of the truck and claimed that my belongings they picked up was equaled to 1300 ft.³ of household belongings. NOT TRUE.

I had them delivered to an extra storage space in Florida which was a 10 x 15 x 8‘ tall storage bin which is equivalent to 1200 ft.³ The storage bin was barely half full which means that there was only approximately 600 to 700 ft.³ of household goods that they shipped. NOT 1300 ft.³ as they claimed at the pick up point.

When I tried to contact the shipping company once my belongings were unloaded they refused to take my call until I persuaded the truck driver (a subcontractor) to contacted the shipping company. This was very difficult to do as he didn’t want to get involved since he was a middleman. I was overcharged by $2800. It took 2 hours of augmenting with the moving company once the driver got the moving company on the phone to get back $1000. This was still short of the $2,800 I was overcharged. This was after the driver measured the space and sent pictures of how empty the storage bin/space was. I’m working on disputing the funds I have on my credit card in hopes to recouping my deposit monies to help offset the amount I was over charged. I’ll still be overcharged by $680 if I get back my deposit monies.

The moving company (Northern Elite Van) uses subcontractors to pick up and deliver my household belongings. This leaves the customers in a bad situation as they are dealing with a subcontractor not the actual shipper. This shipper will do there very best to avoid you once you have paid the final payment.

NorthernElite Van has in their contract that you must pay cash or money order prior to being able to have your household belongings unloaded.

They do this because they are stealing from you and you have no recourse once you hand the cash to the driver unless you do as I did and get the driver to get involved in resolve the problem. I suggest even though they charge you an additional 5% that you should pay as much on your credit card as possible which will allow you some leeway to disputing any claims you have of being overcharged. The only way to verify the amount of household belongings being shipped is to put in in a confined space so it can be measured. I also suggest that you stack your belongings in the space to get an accurate understanding of the amount of belongings shipped.

Please let all of your friends and neighbors know about this company through social media and any other method you can to avoid this company Northern elite vans DBA as (Wrap and Tag) from taking advantage of any more people who need to move.

MOVING IS VERY STRESSFUL AND NORTHERN ELITE VAN IS AWARE OF THIS AND TAKE FULL ADVANTAGE OF THE CUSTOMER.

Otherwise you will mostly likely be taken advantage of and overcharged as they did to me.

They damaged some of my belongings and I am going to have to dispute this with them on top of the $2800 that they have overcharged me.

I hope this message reaches as many people as possible so that this company is forced to change their means methods of operation or are ran out of business as they are nothing but crooks based on my experience and l’m going to say they more than likely take a vantage of every individual who’s household belongings they move.

Please get the word out 08-21-2021.

  3. Still missing.

    1. Movers showed up a day late.

    2. Got to the end when our whole house was packed up and said we owed the 2k more than estimate.

    3. Per customer service, Belongings were going to be taken to NJ to sit in a Warehouse until they delivered them. Wrapped in Pallet and brought via 18 wheeler

    4. Wait a week call Friday and see where it is. “The truck is leaving tonight and will be there Monday or Tuesday” Ok. We drive to our (empty) new house so we are ready.

Sorry, can’t come Monday, sorry, can’t come Tuesday. They will be there Wednesday. Wednesday we get an email. Sorry. They can’t come. Maybe Thursday or Friday. A problem with the delivery on the truck and can’t get your stuff off the truck.

Customer service offers a small refund for the “inconvenience” but says I have to pay the driver the full amount and she will write me a check for the refund.

    5. Thursday (a week and a half after pickup) they show 2 hours later than expected. The truck that arrives is a 26 foot box truck from Penske. No tractor trailer. And no pallet. The passenger tells me they just left NJ this am with our belongings. Not Friday in a tractor trailer as we were told! And the lies continued about dewy of delivery.

It’s raining and the driver hops off the truck and asks for the money and to sign the paper saying he delivered everything. I refuse to sign as he hasn’t delivered anything yet. Miserable man from Minute one.

    6. I ask about the inventory and checking everything off as he takes it off. Tells me that I can if I want but he won’t.

    7. Opens the truck to a half filled truck! We immediately knew everything wasn’t there as we packed the same Ryder truck in MA. Driver doesn’t stop and just says that is what he has. Proceeds to pull things off the truck and leave them sitting in the rain. They dragged our king bed through the mud.

    8. I immediately call customer service for help. Driver will not listen to her and continue to drag our furniture in the house.

    9. We paid for a full move, disassemble and reassemble and staging. All boxes and items to the correct rooms. These guy stacked 80 boxes in our living room and piled furniture around our house.

    10. They finished emptying the truck and proceeded to ask us to sign and leave. When I refused and asked him to do inventory sheet he said that wasn’t his job and they don’t actually do that. And that if I don’t sign the paper I will never see my stuff again. That they won’t help us and we’d be sorry.

    11. Spoke with their boss and others to get the job done correctly. He refused to do anything more. Told me for 2k more he would do it. And got in the truck. Not before he threatened to run me over and verbally assault my 15 year old. Then they drove away.

    12. We have a house full of boxes, a large list of missing parts and pieces including, half our son’s bed, the hardware abd sideboards to our other son’s bed. The legs to our kitchen table, the tv cabinet to our armoire, the top of my antique chest that was labeled as a priority, 2 bookcases, a mirror, the top to our outdoor griddle. The list goes on. Not to mention the dresser that was literally kicked in from the back, the ruined king mattress that’s covered in mud, the same bottom of the antique hutch with a broken leg. Zero care was taken with this move and with the company.

Company said they would send a “handyman” out to help us move our belongings. Told they were sending 3, one showed up. My husband had to do most of the work moving everything anyway as there was no way one person could do that.

13 Thursday to Monday was spent on the phone trying to get someone to find our belongings. Finally Monday night the warehouse supervisor says that he’s found our stuff. But doesn’t know when he will get it to us.

Also Monday the customer service says that the refund that was supposed to be on its way for all the issues before the actual move was returned to them. (Hmm)

    14. Monday - Wednesday spent fighting to get our things back to us.

    15. We finally hear that it will that it will be on the truck Thursday to be delivered Friday morning.

Told that they will refund us 1590$ but 375 every 30 days. (??)

    14. 10:45pm - receive a text from customer service lady saying the truck will not be delivering our items tomorrow morning and we don’t know when it will again.

And that brings us to right now. No refund in sight and no belongings either.

We do not believe The business is not on the up and up. Theyonly accept cash. They will not let you speak to anyone except Jennifer and Mike. The owner is nowhere to be found. She controls his email. I asked to speak with the billing department but only an email provided. No company should treat their customers this way!

The list goes on. So again. Run away. Find a company that will respect you and your belongings. This is NOT that company.

  4. There is nothing elite about this moving experience

When prepping for a cross-country move, I did a lot of research into moving options. When I decided to book with this company, it was pitched as a family-like business that gave me direct access to agents who would help answer any questions I had from the initial booking to the arrival of our things. My experience could not be further from that. The company does not value communication or the experience of a customer, and I received more misinformation than accurate details every time I spoke with the customer service team.

The summer is a busy time to move. Because of that, we were given a three-day window when the moving truck might arrive on the front end of the move. I was told we would get confirmation on the business day prior to that three day window, alerting us to when we should expect the truck. That didn’t happen. I called my agent at the company, and he said our schedule was set for the second of the three days, so I booked flights for my family on the third day.

One day before the move was scheduled to take place, I received word that the actual move was happening one day later. I had to scramble to rebook flights and hotels in order to accommodate this change. My agent, Chris, said he didn’t remember communicating the date to me, despite it being written in our text exchange earlier. No one from the company apologized, and instead they doubled down saying that it was within their contract to arrive on any of the three days quoted initially. A fraction of our remaining balance was removed, but it did not even cover the changes to our flights, let alone the emotional toll of rescheduling our first flight with an infant during Covid.

I was told that we would receive news when our things left the East Coast. That didn’t happen. I had to call the customer service hotline multiple times, where I was informed that our things were in a warehouse in New Jersey awaiting shipment. Ten days after our things were packed up in Boston, customer service alerted us that a truck would be leaving with our items on a Friday. On Monday, we called to confirm and check the position of the truck, and we were told that our things had not in fact left yet.

One week after our items finally left, we called to get an update. We were told to expect a final arrival within 4 to 7 days. Three days after receiving that estimate, the new ETA was 5 to 8 days. Every exchange I’ve had with a customer service representative has lacked empathy and remorse. Instead, they continually report their legal right to deliver items within a longer time frame. I’m not disputing this right, but I am thoroughly frustrated with the companies inability to accurately communicate information, and their lack of ownership of miscommunication.

I can’t recommend this moving company for all of the reasons listed above. Let this be a cautionary tale for others considering using them for future moves.

  5. What a relief!

I recently moved my 4 bedroom condo from New York to San Francisco and used this company to do the move. I have moved a few times before in the past, and had a nightmare experience a few years back, so I was very cautious. I dealt with Chris throughout the process, and he made me feel much more at ease with his knowledge and willingness to go above and beyond. He walked me through the process step by step, didn't hassle me for a credit card, and didn't pressure me like everyone else did. Even answered all of my silly questions up until the move day! The movers came out as scheduled and did a great job loading the truck and packing everything properly. They were super polite, obviously cared about my stuff and took their time while navigating in my house. Everything went off without a hitch, but I told Chris I would not write my review until the stuff was delivered. Well, the delivery was made with the SAME GUYS (never had that happen before) and it went just as smoothly as it did at the pickup. By the time everything was unloaded and unpacked and the guys had left, I felt like I had just stepped out of the twilight zone. Seriously one of the easiest moves I've ever had, and trust me I've had some real doozies. These guys get my recommendation whole heartedly!

  6. Scammers

These guys refuse to follow DOT regulations, they loaded the truck before giving me a secondary binding estimate in writing or changing to a non-binding estimate. The new price was 3x ($14,092) the initial binding estimate($4998.50). When I argued the new cost the driver said well call the office which at that hour was fruitless. I was pressured by the movers into signing a blank new estimate (except for what they wanted me to pay) at almost 8pm at night when my 3 young kids are tired and desperate for bed. Essentially, my things and my family were being held hostage until I signed. When I finally get in touch with the office they tell me they couldn’t have possibly given me a new estimate until the truck was loaded regardless of DOT regs. Not only was the new estimate 330cuft more than the 24ft moving truck could hold they refused to give me weight tickets until delivery and offered to take 250cuft of cost off the new estimate. When I refused this I was told a supervisor must review my complaint. Fast forward to driver calling me about delivery without weight tickets and to call the company. I called still seeking a resolution to issue #1 illegally charging me for after the truck was loaded and the rep started yelling and blaming me for not ensuring the packers got weight tickets prior to loading though I requested them when I contracted and again when I lodged the initial complaint. They did instruct the driver to get one but when I asked to be present they said no it’s too late I can be present only for the empty truck weight. When I informed them I would be lodging a complaint with DOT they said you do that and you still owe the 50% of the cubic footage we listed on the second illegally obtained second estimate. Do not trust them.

  7. Moving

We moved with this company from NY to FL. The sales team was excellent and helpful. The customer service representative answered all our questions. The movers at pick up arrived on time and were pleasant and professional. They packed our belongings with care. When our belongings arrived for delivery, all our items arrived safely and the delivery movers were wonderful. We would use this company again

  8. Run from these guys!

They kept delaying my move from NJ to FL . They were suppose to come on a Saturday- they didn’t even tell me it had been pushed again. Then settled on a Monday at 8am (I’m closing on my house Tuesday). Jen texted me the day of at 8:15 the day of to tell me they weren’t coming until the end of the week… and then acted annoyed . Just run. They are terrible. The people giving them 5 stars have been paid to write the review. There’s no way those are legit.

  9. Moving

They moved me from ny to texas. They were fantastic. The sales department gave me a great quote and were helpful. The customer service department was professional and answered all my questions. The movers that picked up and delivered my move handled my belongings with care. All my items arrived and none were broken. I would definitely use this moving company again

  10. These guys were great!

I was really nervous when we first started looking for movers - these guys made the process a lot less stressful. I was really nervous I would get overcharged after hearing stories from my neighbors. Chris answered all of my questions and made me feel at ease. When the guys showed up, they worked very hard and they were very respectful. They packed the truck up tightly and carefully within a few hours and we received our belongings 5 days later in Bradenton. Would recommend and I have also referred them to my neighbors who are moving.
