  1. Unprofessional and poor service all around.

Terrible service/unprofessional - had two movers and they refused to move many of my items, they lacked customer care, gave me push back because I did not want to leave a paper trail of my credit card info, and broke the frame and box spring of my bed..failed to even properly reassemble my bed. It appearred like the bed was fixed until later that night when we bwent to lay down and discovered a noticable sinking in the middle of the bed. Had to remove mattress and box spring myself to fully diagnose what happened, called their management to issue written complaint and file a claim. Never received any of what I asked for. Please avoid using this company.

  2. F Rated by BBB for Good Reason.

I sent a detailed email of my concerns and complaints requesting a response within 24 hours and received nothing. I called two days later and they said they would review and get back to me within 24 hours. I had to call them back four days later.

We were charged $1,095.00 for “packing” supplies for them to put a piece of tape on every box that was already taped. We were supposed to be given a price list and the opportunity to waive this, but that didn’t happen until all of this was completed and on the truck. When I contacted them the third time, they offered a 10% refund on the packing. It took another hour of talking until it was generously upped to $200. Mind you this whole job was over $3,700…to move 30 minutes between two condos.

I asked for information on the “free” shipping they offered and the only thing Chris told me what that it was free for 31 days and gave me pricing for what it would be beyond the 31 days. He never disclosed a single other cost. We were smacked with a bill for $1,560.90 when they arrived at our new place. When I called about this, I was told that *I* should have been the one to ask about the additional costs so this was on me. Apparently, this was not implied when I initially asked for “information” on this service.

I am extremely disappointed at the lack of transparency in costs. My husband and I were in a bind with having to move during this COVID-19 crisis and feel Peace of Mind Moving & Storage took advantage of this. It is shameful. The amount paid for the services rendered is excessive and shocking. This experience has made the stress of moving at this time much, MUCH more stressful.

  3. Crooks, Scammers, Con-artist.

Please simply "google" the company and read reviews, which I failed to do so initially. This company performs criminal activities. causes anxiety issues, blackmails, harassment, causes emotional distress, triple over-charge you and holds your items at ransom until you pay their unrealistic prices.

On March 18, 2020, I contacted Peace of Mind Moving of Rockville, MD to move my items, and we set a date for March 20, 2020 at 12 noon for two people. On March 19, 2020 I was contacted by "Alex" and then a "Chris". "Alex" confirmed my date and time, however, "Chris" called an hour later and asked if the time could be moved earlier. I told "Chris" I did not have the keys to the new home and that I had an appointment with the property management at 11 am to get the keys and other pertinent information to my move. I informed him that I could not change the time until I talk to the property management and I would get back with him if anything changes, until then keep the 12 noon appointment. I never heard from the property manager, and never got back with whatever alias used by staff. On March 20, 2020, at 9:30 am. I received a call from the "driver" stating they were outside. I was confused because I was still packing. He stated he was there and he can pack the remaining items. I felt rushed as I was in the process of packing my last-minute items, mirrors, tvs, cable boxes. They not only arrived 2.5 hrs early they also had a third person. I said I didn't agree three people then they stated it would save you more money and I am already here..

Once they got to my new place they drove past me several times pretending not to see me waving them down. Then said he put the wrong address in his GPS, but he must've forgotten I saw him put in the right address. This was how they added an additional hour.

The driver is who I believe to be the owner of the company based on reviews I've read, would not release my belongings unless through extortion. He jotted down random numbers that never made sense, and would not release my belongings unless I " literally" paid whatever number they gave me. I was quoted at $340 and paid $1100with what the driver reported was an $81 discount. There was a RANDOM $100 fuel charge. I moved down the street. He told me he could not release my items off of his truck unless I paid whatever amount he gave me. They did not move all of my items and stole my plastic wrap (which I bet they will use to extort someone else). I am still unpacking and based on reviews hope no items are broken or stolen.

This company will literally rob you, cause emotional distress, cause anxiety, extortion, criminal, harass you, blackmail you, and hold your precious items for ransom until you pay whatever random number they give you. I have only heard of this activity in other countries, but not America.

  4. FIle your complaint with the Maryland Attorney General.

A group of us have submitted information with the AG to put them out of business. Here is the link I can't make it any easier. They overcharge, lie, hold your items hostage, leave all the packing material in your home. Just don't do it..

  5. TERRIBLE! Cost was more than 2x's quote.

Movers were over 2hrs late which put everything behind schedule. Was supposed to be EASY local move with nothing out of the ordinary. Quoted $316. Charged $766. Excessive charges for packing material - $268 for tape and other wrapping items that were not needed or authorized. 1BR apartment (678sf)!! From Reston VA to Alexandria VA. Gouged my hardwood floors. Quote says "FREE moving pads/blankets" but then they charge to secure them to your furniture. If trucks are as new and clean as they say, furniture shouldn't need a whole lot of wrapping taping, etc. Just put it in the damn truck and let's go!! Misleading and deceptive. Then they hold your property hostage until you agree to the excessive charges! I had to authorize the charge in order to get my property. But I am disputing the charge with my credit card company. They are crooks. I will never hire them again and I hope that anyone reading this prepares themselves if they chose to do business with this company. Completely unacceptable! I can't even understand how they are still in business!! Nightmare is right!! And when I told them I was disputing the charge and contacting the BBB, I was basically told Good Luck.

  6. $2,000 for a 1,200 sq foot move.

Paid for full service with packing and unpacking. The driver spoke English, the movers did not. Not one single box was unpacked. 10/10 would not recommend. We got ripped off. Won’t be using this company or this website again for a move. What a nightmare!

  7. Peace of Mind Moving company.

The moving company is horrible and are thieves. The only reason I chose this company was because their quote was lower than the other 3 quotes I received. They quoted me $834 which was supposed to include 3 movers, the truck, pads, insurance, boxes, disassembling/reassembling furniture. When the move was complete, they charged me $1,766. They also refused to unload the truck until I paid them. So I had to pay this. Also, as they were unloading, they broke my desk and my entertainment center.

  8. Terrible.

Driver and helper good on moving out, but moving in terrible, will not recommend them to no one, kept raising the price and showing attitude.

  9. Extorting College Kids, moving a dorm room.

My college daughter moved out of her dorm for her 2nd year at Jefferson. She was quoted $466, which she confirmed at pickup. During the moving out process, they were slow, ate on the job, and charged for boxes, tape, instead of allowing the to use their boxes and tape.

At the time of delivery 6 blocks away, they extorted her by not release any of her entire belongings until she paid $1,627.

This is scam that takes advantage of kids and we are filing a police report and will keep you posted.

  10. Worst company ever!

    My mistake :
Did not read the fine print-
1- 10% fuel surcharge of the entire bill. What fuel is being burnt while the truck is parked?
2- They mentioned that there are packing charges involved ( but did not specify how much) and I did not inquire more about it. Turns out they charged me >$350 in packing for a job that they estimated for $500.

    Their flaws:
1- They are frauds who give wrong estimate despite of knowing all the details about the stuff and the size of the apartment or work too slow to cheat and make extra bucks.
2- We were moving few miles away and therefore asked them to not pack things that are not fragile but they said that they will pack it anyways.
3- I had scheduled a morning move, 10:00 am -12:00 pm, they and said that they will be coming between 2:00 - 4:00 pm instead. I had scheduled that time as we had other people coming to install dryer washer and internet at different times. They finally came at 4:40 pm.
4- Instead of estimated 3 hours - they took 6 hrs!
5- Dis not assemble the bed properly.
6- Even though they charged till 10:40 pm and left at 10:25 pm they did not transfer the desks in the basement as requested.
7- Left the packing material at the gate.

    This is a horrible company.

  11. Move.

Unethical, careless, and irresponsible. Used them once before and everything was fine. This time however the actual charge was 3x the quote. One of the guys slept in the truck while the other two worked. Broke a picture didn’t even flint nor apologize. Worthless.

  12. DO NOT HIRE Peace of Mind out of Rockville!! Read Google reviews.

Horrible company. I've hired movers 3 other times and this was by far the absolute worst. They lie, lie, lie!

When I called for a quote for a 2 BR apartment, Chris quoted me $645 for 2 men and estimated 4 hours to move (I thought it might take 5 so was prepared to go a little over). The move took 7.5 hours and totaled $1185.00 - which you of course have to pay before they even start unloading!

Chris is a liar and a scam artist!

So now it all starts. Peace of Mind sends me 2 guys who don't speak English! Now, don't you think that should have come up in my conversation with Chris?!? Apparently HE doesn't think so! Not only did they not speak it, they couldn't read it either. I put very detailed descriptions on each box, but had to stand at the door and direct them where to put EVERY box. It took twice as long to unpack the truck as it should have, and they broke one of my bookcases unloading it from the truck.

Chris is a liar and a scam artist!

Then there was the mover who kept trying to hide and talk on his cell phone. I finally said (and he seemed to understand, which is weird since he didn't speak English) "I'm paying you by the hour, and I'm NOT paying you to talk on your phone!!" Then he disappeared in the bathroom for 20 minutes.

It was a hot day, so I provided them with cold drinks and snacks, but they still wanted to stop at the gas station on the way to unload and took 20 minutes buying a Coke and chips while the clock was still ticking.

They nickel and dime you on EVERYTHING. I had everything packed and they still used packing tape to "secure" it. They tried selling me $28 bubble wrap and a $61 mattress bag for my box spring.

Chris is a liar and a scam artist!

I called Chris the next morning to get a claim form and expressed my dissatisfaction with the company. I explained everything. He said "I'll send you the form and we'll offer some sort of reimbursement. We want you to be happy". I haven't seen a cent and now Chris doesn't reply to my emails.

Have I mentioned that Chris is a liar and a scam artist??

I've contacted them 3 times and have never received a call back. I notified the BBB and they didn't respond to them either.

Bottom line - Moving yourself is a chore, but it's far less stressful than dealing with Peace of Mind Moving. If you've already scheduled your move with them cancel it and suck up whatever deposit you paid - you'll recover it by hiring a reputable moving company. If you are considering hiring them, DON'T DO IT!!

  13. Local move within Leesburg VA.

BUYER BEWARE. We just moved the other day 5.5 miles from the prior home. When setting up the move we were quoted around $1,200 which was considerably less than other professional movers such as Allied and JK. I spoke with the rep who asked how many bedrooms we had. I responded 5 bedrooms but furniture in only 4, I further stated it is a big house at 7,000sf with 10 other rooms of furniture. He said no problem the price will cover it. I asked several time for them to come to the house to look at the job, like the other folks I received quotes from. His response was, there is no need. (This should have raised a BIG RED FLAG). Well they came the day prior to the move to pack up. The crew was polite and did a good job, BUT, at the end of the day the invoice was $4,000 including all kinds of extras they didn't use like 58 rolls of tape, white linen boxes (what ever that is) ect. I called the rep handling the move and got the runaround. The next day they show up at the new location and wanted an additional $3000 to unload. (they held our belongings hostage until we paid). By the time it was all over and done with they worked less hours than quoted for each day, charged for materials they didn't use, and will not answer my texts or email regarding reimbursement for the hours and materials they over charged for. As a comparison, our prior move was from Maryland to Virginia with the same belongings and only cost $3500 with JK Movers. and JK took everything, I mean EVERY THING. These guys will not take anything not boxed, so if you have items that just don't fit in a box, plan to move those items yourself. All in all I Do Not recommend using this company, and will be making a report to the BBB as well. Please heed this friendly warning..

  14. This was anything OTHER than Peace of Mind!!

Overall the crew worked hard and got the job done, so I did tip them, but I would NEVER use this company again. I sent a 10 point email to my primary contact after the move and have not heard back from him about any of the issues I had with the move. Let's start with arriving over 2 hours past my start time, and I was not able to get ahold of my primary contact or anyone at the office # on the day of the move. I left VM and no one called me back. It then took 7.5 hours for a move that took less than 5 hours the last time I moved! I had plans for later that evening that I had to cancel due to the delayed start and the extended time it took the crew to move. They moved SUPER fast once we got to my new location, so they were just slowly doing things for the packing up! Then they charged me over $650 for supplies that I never asked for, including 7 mattress covers for 4 beds … how does that math work out? What pissed me off the most was the 10% fuel charge that was over $150 and NOT on my quote. I had asked before I put down the deposit about ANY extra or hidden fees and was told there were none! I received no "white glove" service, whatever that means! Not steps were taken to protect the carpets at either location, and at the new house they damaged the door frame and the door trying to get a sofa through, rather than unscrew the small legs!! They also charged me through a different company name, which I found very odd as well. This whole thing was a nightmare!! DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!

  15. Worse moving experience.

I had to select a star otherwise there would be no moving fwd. I wouldn't even give 1/2 a star. I am not sure how the previous comments got such great deals and service but I am glad they did. My experience was the total opposite. They said that all was included and they ended up adding fees for everything they could and I ended up paying more than double the estimate. Not only that but they threatened to keep all my furniture or take it to storage if I didn't pay. To top it all they broke my furniture, part of my staircase and scratched and damaged my furniture. Not to mention the rudeness of the movers. Absolutely horrible experience and I recommend staying away from them. They will tell you that they can't take your furniture if they don't use X type of wrapping and even then they will break it! You are basically forced to go with what they tell you.. ah! and they will charge you an outrageous amount for gas too.. (relative to the distance, that is).
